• Access denied errors in windows server 2008 for system administrator

  Hello I've a HP Pavilion DV4 with windows Server 2008 R2 enterprise. My system is connected to a domain. I login using my domain account. I am the administrator for the local machine. But I'm getting access denied everywhere (file system, running commands, using visual studio..literally everywhere..) in my machine. What could be the problem? Any ideas? Please tell me if you need more information as I'm just a developer with less knowledge in system administration.

  I'd like to capture the output from a tool from the command line into an nmake macro. If this were a normal command line script, it would look like this: > MyTool.exe > output.txt > set /P MyVariable=<output.txt > echo %MyVariable% However, I can't seem to find anything relevant in the nmake doc on macros that is relevant.   So, I have a screen capture utility (it takes full screen shots and saves it to png files) I've written, and it uses SM_CXVIRTUALSCREEN and SM_CYVIRTUALSCREEN to determine the width and height of the desktop. I then get the desktop DC and copy out the bits and save them as png. BitBlt( backDC, 0, 0, backBufferCX, backBufferCX, desktopDC, X_SRC, 0, SRCCOPY ); Here X_SRC is usually 0, UNLESS THE DESKTOP HAS BEEN EXTENDED "TO THE LEFT". In that case it needs to be -1280px, for example, if the left monitor measures 1280px. How can I determine if the desktop's starting point is negative (if the user has extended his desktop to the left?)

• Ruby: Read large data from stdout and stderr of an external process on Windows

  Greetings, all, I need to run a potentially long-running process from Ruby on Windows and subsequently capture and parse the data from the external process's standard output and error. A large amount of data can be sent to each, but I am only necessarily interested in one line at a time (not capturing and storing the whole of the output). After a bit of research, I found that the Open3 class would take care of executing the process and giving me IO objects connected to the process's standard output and error (via popen3). Open3.popen3("external-program.bat") do |stdin, out, err, thread| # Step3.profit() ? end However, I'm not sure how to continually read from both streams without blocking the program. Since calling IO#readlines on out or err when a lot of data has been sent results in a memory allocation error, I'm trying to continuously check both streams for available input, but not having much luck with any of my implementations. • How to rename multiple files in multiple folders with 1 command

  We want to rename our *.html files to *.php but (sadly enough) have not enough knowledge to do it with a dos batchfile and/or cmd prompt command. The problem is that each file is in seperat folder and yes talking about 1500+ different folder names. Using wildcards for the files I know is the '*' but using also a wildcard for folders is unknown to me. We probably need to use the (MSDOS) 'FOR' command but there I am stucked. Folder structure we use is: parent-folder/child-folder/grandchild-folder/file.html sample: games/A/game_name/file.html, games/B/game_name/file.html, games/C/game_name/file.html and so on. The parent folder is for all files the same, the child & grandchild folders are different for most files. After renaming these files to .php I assume following in the .htaccess will make a permanent redirect. RedirectMatch 301 (.).html$ http://oursite.com$1.php Looking forward to suggestions/answers, thnx in advance.

• Using VMware's ESXi, can I plug in 30 USB Wireless adapters and allow each of 30 VMs one?

  I'm assuming ESXi will act very similarly to VMware Workstation or other products, so answers based on knowledge of those programs might also help. I want to plug in 30 USB Wireless or Ethernet adapters into my server, and let each VM access one and only one of these devices. Unfortunately, I don't have the hardware to just try it out as the purchase of hubs and adapters hinges on the result of this question. The answer could be a resounding "yes, easy!" and that would be great. I couldn't find any answers to this question with google, and it's possible that this is because it's so easy to do. Thanks!

• How can I get the fully qualified name of an assembly from it's basic name?

  I'm currently writing a custom forms application that allows a user to design a data capture form. I store the field's ControlType and ControlAssembly in the database and then create them on the forms at runtime. For example: ControlType = `System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox`. ControlAssembly= `System.Web`. So I can therefor create a fully qualified name and create the control doing the following: string target = Assembly.CreateQualifiedName("System.Web", field.ControlType); Type type = Type.GetType(target); Control control = Activator.CreateInstance(type) as Control; But, this will cause an error as "System.Web" is not a valid assembly name. The assembly name itself has to be fully qualified, i.e. System.Web.Extensions would be: "System.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" Is there any way I can get the fully qualified name of the assembly System.Web without having to store the entirity of the version, culture and PKT?

• I believe I need a wireless access point, but can I do it with a wifi router?

  My needs are simple, I think: I have a laptop upstairs with a usb wifi that I use to connect to my neighbor's wifi which I share (with their knowledge). I have a laser printer downstairs that my wife doesn't wants to stay down there (big, bulky and ugly), but that we both need to print stuff off. It has wired networking and I have wired hub and router down there. The usb wifi on the laptop has absolutley the best reception I've ever seen or heard of. I cannot get onto the neighbor's net with the thing downstairs though--sortof in the ground. What do I need downstairs to give printer access to my laptop wirelessly? One thing I can't do in this solution is have a computer on downstairs, so I would think that would eliminate a usb solution.

I have a VS 2008 web application that I need to capture the full file path (directories and file name) from the selected file. • [Android] Weird black line on top of list view

  I am creating a layout with a ListView and at the very top of the list there is this weird black line that I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of! It's part of the ListView because it moves up and down as I size the ListView. Has anyone ran into this before? I couldn't get DDMS to take a screen capture for some reason so I took a picture of the screen with my G1, so please forgive the quality! As you can see the line is there at the top of the fade out in the list.

  I have a booking model that needs to check if the item being booked out is available. I would like to have the logic behind figuring out if the item is available centralised so that no matter where I save the instance this code validates that it can be saved. At the moment I have this code in a custom save function of my model class: def save(self): if self.is_available(): # my custom check availability function super(MyObj, self).save() else: # this is the bit I'm stuck with.. raise forms.ValidationError('Item already booked for those dates') This works fine - the error is raised if the item is unavailable, and my item is not saved. I can capture the exception from my front end form code, but what about the Django admin site? How can I get my exception to be displayed like any other validation error in the admin site?

• Macro - maintain paste link if new row is added to master spreadsheet

  I have a master spreadsheet that has a portion of data (say columns a to e) that paste links to a report. Each row paste links to its own report. If I add a new row to the master spreadsheet I now have the wrong data linking into my reports. I know if I have the reports open when a change is made to the master it will update the reports. However, with the number of reports I will soon have this will no longer be practical. Is there a macro or formula that can be added to maintain the correct data link. So, I want to block all the login for this User except on Firewall. Is there any way to accomplish this? • How can I get the edit control in a cell of a DataGridView to validate itself?

  It appears that the only way to capture the keypress events within a cell of a DataGridView control, in order to validate user input as they type, is to us the DataGridView controls OnEditControlShowing event, hook up a method to the edit control's (e.Control) keypress event and do some validation. My problem is that I've built a heap of custom DataGridView column classes, with their own custom cell types. These cells have their own custom edit controls (things like DateTimePickers, and Numeric or Currency textboxes.) I want to do some numeric validation for those cells that have Numeric of Currency Textboxes as their edit controls but not all the other cell types. How can I determine, within the DataGridView's "OnEditControlShowing" override, whether or not a particular edit control needs some numeric validation? (In the meantime I've restorted to setting the Tag property of my custom edit controls to a known value and any Edit Controls I find in the OnEditControlShowing override, I hook to my validation routine - I don't like that much!)

  Hello, I have a list that's going to be updated with relatively static data weekly, and I wanted to create a workflow to do this automatically. The only field I'm having trouble with is Start Date. I want the new Start Date to be exactly one week after the previous week's (row's) Start Date, but I can't figure out how to capture this. I can't seem to find an easy way to get the value of the previous row. Now, theoretically, I could just have the workflow run once a week on a given day and use [Today] as the value for the field; however, a requirement is that the list can be populated a few weeks in advance if needed. • Can't connect to IIS7 on one of my machines

  I have 2 computers, both running Win7 Professional x64. Computer "A" (192.168.0.10) is my work machine, it contains my tools etc. Computer "B" (192.168.0.15) is supposed to be my build server / web server for my projects I've installed IIS on "B", and installed IIS7 remote manager on "A". I'm trying to connect from A's IIS7 Manager to B's IIS but I fail. I have little knowledge of IIS, and I feel that's the main reason. I can ping B from A and get positive results so the machines do see each other. A and B are in the same workgroup but not in a domain (if that matters) - they're in my home network. What do I need to do to "see" B's IIS?

• Reasons for Wi-Fi to be slower on Ubuntu compared to Windows?

  I'm using 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7 64 bit – dual boot on the same computer. Connecting to the same wireless network. And it turns out that on Windows I get a more stable and stronger signal than on Ubuntu. To my knowledge there's a router which serves as a gateway and then there's a cable connected to the router which goes further to ISP, so the results for both OS should be the same. I've tested the issue on both OSs at various times and it gave me the same result. The question is why? Why Ubuntu networking is worse than that of Windows?

• Excel: How do I copy hyperlink address from one column of text to another column with different text?

  I have a spreadsheet where column A displays names in a certain format. There are 200-odd names and each has a different hyperlink (which links to that person's web page). I want to reformat the name order so it is "Surname, Name" rather than "Name Surname" and retain the hyperlink in the newly formatted column. I have achieved "Surname, Name" easily by splitting the names into two columns (using LEFT and RIGHT formulae) - forename and surname - then I have a new column with a formula to return "Surname, Name." However, the hyperlinks are not in that new column and I need them. I don't want to do this manually, for obvious reasons. I cannot find a way of copying just hyperlinks from column A without copying the text from column A. So, effectively, what I need is some sort of macro to take, for example, the hyperlink from A2 and copy it to H2, with H2 still retaining the updated ordering of name. I don't have the knowledge to write this myself, so would appreciate solutions.

  My User entity class have several member variables (e.g. String firstName) which are persisted and some transient variables (e.g. transient boolean selected) which are not. I have used the transient variable to capture a checkbox selection, but invariably the value never gets set and procesed properly until I set another bean value along with it. i.e. If User has firstName (mapped to a text field) and selected (mapped to a checkbox) If I just selected the value doesn't seem to be set on an update If I had selected the checkbox and the firstName field, the "selected" value is captured properly Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

  I'm trying to configure Start TLS on 389 Directory server, but I'm having all sorts of issues. I've been following this doc: https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Directory_Server/9.0/html/Administration_Guide/managing-certs.html which specifies that I should create a certificate for both the directory server and admin server. I've imported the CA cert on both servers. I've tried to use the same server certificate for both. It will not allow me to do so. However, the admin and directory servers reside on the same host. If I generate a new certificate it will need to use the same hostname. I'm not sure if that's valid... Has anyone out there set this up before? Any direction would be helpful. I have multmaster replication set up. From an external client, I'm attempting to do an ldapsearch -ZZ -x -h "myhost" -b "dc=example,dc=com" -D "cn=Directory Manager" -W "", and I'm getting a protocol error.

• Looking for a way execute a task on all files in a directory (recursively) on Windows

  I have a huge number of mp4 video files that needs to have a volume boost. I need a way to execute a ffmpeg audio filter on all files in a specified base directory (and in subdirectories as well). My problem is that I'm working on a Windows computer and I have no knowledge of its shell syntax. I would like to do the equivalent of what this bash script does : TARGET_FILES=$(find /path/to/dir -type f -name *.mp4) for f in $TARGET_FILES do ffmpeg -i $f -af 'volume=4.0' output.$f done I spent quite some time this afternoon looking for a solution but the recursive nature of what I need (that is so simple with find!) isn't too clear. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
