• What is required to register .com.au domains?

  I have a website that allows people to search for instructors. It's currently working in the USA and UK. I'm wanting to start marketing the website to the Australian market, and so have been looking at registering a .com.au domain name. What is the best way about doin this as it doesn't seem particularly simple? Apparently I need an ABN or an Australian company but as I'm not an Australian citizen this presumably would be impossible?

  I have two blogs. Let's say http://name.blogspot.com/ and the other one is http://name2.blogspot.com/ For blog 1: While submitting sitemap to Google webmaster tool I selected the option and then added rss.xml at last. (http://name.blogspot.com/rss.xml) Sitemap added successfully. For blog 2: I followed the same procedure but it didn't work. Then I tried to open the url (http://name.blogspot.com/rss.xml). The url was showing the atom feeds. I tried same with the other blog but that url is redirecting to the feedburner feeds. I think this is the reason why the other blog's sitemap is not getting submitted. Help me with it.

  In Google Analytics we're trying to add a property for each website of a WordPress multisite network. It works well for all of the sub-site but one. In the Default URL field we used the following: www.mywebsite.no/ - works www.mywebsite.no/nurse - works, as does a few other sub-sites www.mywebsite.no/doctor - doesn't work In the last case we get the following error: Value is not a valid domain. (e.g. example.com, www.example.com) We can't change the name of the sub-site but GA just won't accept the URL. Why is this and what can we do to solve this?

• Using another domain with Google App Engine

  I'm trying to change my google app engine domain (domain.appspot.com) to the domain I bought from 1&1.com (mydomain.com). I went into the google app engine settings and added the domain. After making a Google Apps account, I was asked to verify my domain. The directions say that 1&1 doesn't allow me to create TXT records, so I can't use that method for verification. Their alternative is to upload an HTML file to my server, but I didn't buy hosting with my domain, I just bought the domain. My files are on domain.appspot.com. How can I make mydomain.com point to domain.appspot.com? I've added the ns1.googleghs.com as my nameservers in my 1&1 DNS settings, but I still can't verify my domain with Google Apps.

• Business not showing up on right hand side of google search

  The business I work has currently has a verified business Google+ page and in the past this page has shown up as a thumbnail during Google searches. The thumbnail brings up basic information such as our picture and operating hours etc. However, since verifying the business page, the thumbnail overview of our business does not seem to show up anymore. I have tried Google searching our business on several computers and it still just brings up the normal search results. Is there a setting I need to activate in order for the thumbnail to appear?   We're running freebsd + jail, and lighttpd + fastcgi + php_cgi. We changed our domain and all of a sudden we are getting SPORADIC connection closes. We recently changed our subdomain from www to shop but really there have been no other major changes. When I modified lighttpd's server.max-read-idle from default 60 to 5 the connection close message comes much more rapidly however it has not corrected the issue.

• How can I make my binary file is served as binary and not text when user choose "Save Linked File As..." in Safari?

  I'm serving a binary file (.IPA) with Ubuntu/Apache 2.2. When I have chosen Save Linked File As... in Safari, it says it's text file. And it guides me to add .txt extension. However it does not add any extra extension when I download it just clicking link. I added line AddType application/octet-stream .ipa in apache configuration file. I don't know what's wrong with this. Is this a bug of Safari or my misconfiguration? (1) If it caused by bug, how can I avoid this? (2) Or if it caused by misconfiguration, what should I do?

• Changing the RSS and Dynamic Views layout when using Blogger as a Podcast index

  I'm trying to set up a podcast service at present. This is just a 'spare time' task - so I wanted a quick, easy way to do it. To get this working: I've ripped (with owner permission) some YouTube content across to MP3 and hosted this content on Azure Blob Storage. I've posted blog posts - with linked mp3 content - inside a Blogger website. I've registered the RSS feed with iTunes This all seems to be working OK - http://dotnetmobilepodcast.blogspot.co.uk/ However, when it comes to a couple of final touches, then I'm hitting problems. RSS I would like to add iTunes metadata to the RSS feed. However, I can't find any way to do this inside the Blogger system. To workaround this I've tried using FeedBurner with its StreamCast plugin. However, the output from FeedBurner doesn't seem to be accepted by iTunes - e.g. http://feeds.feedburner.com/MobileAppCSharpPodcasts leads to this very unhelpful 11111 message: Is there any other way I can get this iTunes metadata content into the Blogger RSS feed - e.g. maybe an alternative service or a Yahoo! Pipe? Showing the MP3 files in the Blog I'm trying to work out how to automatically display the linked enclosures inside the blog posts - do the blogger Dynamic Views don't seem to have any way of doing this? I've found the HTML in those views very difficult to follow. If necessary I can workaround this using manual entries into each blog post... but I'd prefer to do this programatically if I can.

  Our client has two websites with the same content: example.com somethingelse.com When a user searchs in google for "something else" the example.com site appears in the top 10 results on google. What would happen if we switched the preferred domain in webmaster tools to somethingelse.com? Our client is hoping it will replace the "example.com" result with "somethingelse.com" but I assume this is not the case.

• Will Google Analytics track URLs that just redirect?

  I have a link on my site. That links goes to another URL on my site. The code on the server sees that resource being requested and redirects the browser to another website. Will Google Analytics be able to know that the user requested the URL from my server and was redirected? Specifically, I set up a /buy link on my watchmecode.net site to try and track who is clicking the "Buy & Download" button. This link/button hits my server, and my server immediately does a redirect to the PayPal processing so the user can buy the screencast. Is Google Analytics going to know that the user hit the /buy URL on my site, and track that for me? If not, what can I do to make that happen?

• Will Google crawl session based website

  I have a website, it is split into 3 categories but using PHP its an all-in one kind of style. When a user chooses a category on the home page a session is set, this is then used to set the style and contents of the website. Would Googlebot and other bots be able to still scan my website? If a page is accessed and no session is set then the user is sent back to the home page. I have created special links, that set a session but go straight to the contact page. Even this page doesn't seem to be showing up. Any ideas if a sitemap with specially crafted links (to set the session) will help Google?

  I can log into WHMCS & can access everything I should be able to access, but if i try to click View PDF Invoice, the following error will occur, Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 67633152) (tried to allocate 76 bytes) in /home/xxxx/public_html/whmcs/includes/classes/class.tcpdf.php on line 8419 I have already set the allocated Memory limit to 256MB, but the error still occurs. At that time of the error, the process memory is exceeding the allocation I set.   I have a photo sharing website, which provides very little textual content. Users can add tags to photos and a description, but it creates a lot of duplicate content, because most of the descriptions will be 'wow', 'lol', ... I don't think I should rely on users to build my SEO. I think it would be a great idea to write a blog, and use it to describe the best photos, start contests, explain themes, in short: create original content that search engines will love. Our website's main URL is like www.domain.com, and our new blog is hosted on blog.domain.com. From a SEO perspective, is it a good idea to keep the blog separate from the main site? This has the advantage to leave the original site unchanged, but will it add any page rank to the www.domain.com? If the blog ranks well it will obviously pass some page rank to the original through links. What do you think is the best option from a SEO perspective? Include the blog in www.domain.com? Or leave it in blog.domain.com?

  Webmaster Tools shows 1 URL error (not found page). The report says that 5 pages are linking to a page (let's call it x) that does not exist (and because it doesn't exists it returns a soft 404). HOWEVER, I look in those 5 pages (in the source code) and none is linking to the x page. It is like Google sees an old page that was indeed pointing to x. What is the problem? How do I know if Google cached an old version for those 5 pages?

The site is only seeing about 150 visitors per day but, given that it's only been live two months, I feel I'm off to a good start. I'd like to start monetizing the site as soon as possible but consider AdSense and other programs largely a waste of time. I'd like to deal directly with the advertisers but have no idea what to charge. Are there any guidelines for determining advertising rates based on visitors or page views? I don't expect to do PPC.
