  • Store and retrieve html from sql server 2008 and display using ASP.NET MVC?

    Hi all I am trying to store html and hyperlinks in my sql server 2008 database. I want to also be able to display the hyperlinks and render the html accordingly. I am trying to do this in ASP.NET MVC so I tried using HTTPUtility.HtmlEncode() method but didnt really store it thw way I wanted. So can anyone please guide me through the steps i need to take to achieve this.

  • What is the best practice for adding persistence to an MVC model?

    I'm in the process of implementing an ultra-light MVC framework in PHP. It seems to be a common opinion that the loading of data from a database, file etc. should be independent of the Model, and I agree. What I'm unsure of is the best way to link this "data layer" into MVC. Datastore interacts with Model //controller public function update() { $model = $this->loadModel('foo'); $data = $this->loadDataStore('foo', $model); $data->loadBar(9); //loads data and populates Model $model->setBar('bar'); $data->save(); //reads data from Model and saves } Controller mediates between Model and Datastore Seems a bit verbose and requires the model to know that a datastore exists. //controller public function update() { $model = $this->loadModel('foo'); $data = $this->loadDataStore('foo'); $model->setDataStore($data); $model->getDataStore->loadBar(9); //loads data and populates Model $model->setBar('bar'); $model->getDataStore->save(); //reads data from Model and saves } Datastore extends Model What happens if we want to save a Model extending a database datastore to a flatfile datastore? //controller public function update() { $model = $this->loadHybrid('foo'); //get_class == Datastore_Database $model->loadBar(9); //loads data and populates $model->setBar('bar'); $model->save(); //saves } Model extends datastore This allows for Model portability, but it seems wrong to extend like this.     This is a follow-up question to my original query: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1791605/how-can-i-use-multiple-projects-to-separate-a-large-asp-net-mvc-site-into-departm Now that I have this working, is there a way to still have multiple project but not have to reference each child area from the parent project? Ideally I'd like to be able to have multiple, separate and distinct projects that only come together on the production/test machines. I should be able to build and test each "area" separately.

    Hi all, I'm trying to build a small fb application using asp.net mvc 2, and facebook C# .net From some reason, the code from the sample application doesn't seem to work for me. Here's the exception I am receiving from my web.config file. Unrecognized attribute 'apiKey'. Note that attribute names are case-sensitive.     Hi, I have a newbie question,, how do i add a string template to the views folder in a .net mvc project? i have added a reference to StringTemplate.dll and antlr.runtime.dll but seems that is not enough. i.e. when i right-click on views and choose Add New Item i can't find a file with .st extension in the list that i get... how do i achieve that?   • JQuery Menu plugins under ASP.NET MVC seem to only work in Chrome, but not in IE & FireFox

    Recently, I was trying to prototype some jQuery-based menu into ASP.NET MVC. Just to name two examples here: plugins.jquery.com/project/columnview www.filamentgroup.com/lab/jquery_ipod_style_and_flyout_menus/ Their demo page looks great, but when I integrate their sample code into MVC, the script no longer works in IE and FireFox, but it seems to work just fine under Google Chrome. Can someone kindly enough to point out what I missed? I will be honest here. I am still new to JavaScript, so it is still a learning phase to me, so any help is highly appreciated. I have placed a copy of my VS2010 solution zip file @ http://db.tt/0UNDkN Here is what I did. In the Site.Master, I have something like <body> <div class="page">{truncated...}</div> <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.2.min.js" type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script> <asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="ScriptContent" runat="server" /> </body> And inside View file, I have the following <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server"> <div id="original"> {some demo block, copied from javascript demo} </div> </asp:Content> <asp:Content ID="Content3" ContentPlaceHolderID="ScriptContent" runat="server"> <script type="text/javascript" src="<%= Url.Content("~/Scripts/jquery.columnview.js") %>" /> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $('#original').columnview(); }); </script> </asp:Content> Compiled the code and ran it under IE. Ideally, it should work like the demo in www.christianyates.com/blog/jquery/finder-column-view-hierarchical-lists-jquery, but in reality, it only displays unordered list in plain view. (If you download the solution file and run it, you should be able to repro this as well). Next, tried with FireFox, not working either, same result as IE. Finally, when I try it under Google Chrome 4.1 (lastest version), and the script displays just fine. Really puzzling here :-/ Thank you for reading :D
