• Amazon S3 bucket - download only certain files

  Hi I have an Amazon S3 bucket with 10,000 images sitting in it with a standard naming convention: 001_small.jpg 001_large.jpg 002_small.jpg 002_large.jpg Because there are such a large amount of files I don't want to download ALL of them and I don't want to sit there for a couple of hours to select just the *_large.jpg files... Can someone suggest an S3 file manager that can let me select only the *_large.jpg files to download?? Thanks!

  Amazon web services recently introduced a free tier, where you basically get free stuff to try out AWS and run tiny sites and projects. Basically it's free as long as you remain below a certain limit of bandwidth, disk storage etc. Since going over the limits can quickly become quite expensive (for a hobbyist) I would like some recommendations or suggestions about which AMI's I can run on the free tier, for the purpose of trying out Ruby on Rails and/or Django.

  I have an Amazon EC2 + SSL just installed on GoDaddy. I have successfully managed to install it and get the green https on the main domain https://www.example.com however it doesn't any https://www.example.com/something but the route works under http://www.example.com I am using an .htacess file for some rewrite. Options -MultiViews RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^ index.php [L] the Ec2 instance is ubuntu if that helps in anyway.

  Trying to iterate through AmazonS3 that has around 5000+ keys stored in the bucket, used sample code based on provided link on Amazon Developer Guide http://docs.amazonwebservices.com/AmazonS3/latest/dev/ListingObjectKeysUsingNetSDK.html Issue is iteration fails when NexMarker is passed which has length of more than 128 string characters, which seems unusal as withMarker accepts string as parameter and there is no documentation on limit to withMarker. request.Marker = response.NextMarker; Has anyone faced similar issue.   I have to host an AMI in the Amazon Marketplace. i need to get the type of instance, whenever some user launches the AMI., like if its small medium or large. based on that i need to make some changes in the AMI when its created. I can do this with Amazon API call, to get the instance type, but the problem is that the instances created with the AMI will be started by other users, and i cannot use my AWS Credentials in the Amazon API. Is there any way that i can create an anonymous readonly user to make only specific type of EC2 API Calls? Or can i encrypt my EC2 API credentials, so no one can use it?

  I want create an Launch Config/Auto Scaling Group to build instances inside an VPC with two subnets ("frontend" and "backend") I need that this instances have two ifaces.   I've been investigating whether it's possible to get a list of the saved items in my Amazon shopping basket programmatically ... Their Product Advertising API has methods for getting wishlists: http://docs.amazonwebservices.com/AWSECommerceService/latest/DG/index.html?FindingItemsonLists.html and working with remote shopping carts: http://docs.amazonwebservices.com/AWSECommerceService/latest/DG/index.html?CHAP_WorkingWithRemoteShoppingCarts.html but the shopping cart of items stored while on the Amazon web site is treated as a local shopping cart, and therefore is not accessible through the Product Advertising API. According to the last link: The opposite of a remote shopping cart is a local shopping cart, which is the shopping cart customers use while shopping on www.amazon.com. It is considered local because Amazon hosts the shopping web pages as well as the shopping cart. Product Advertising API operations work solely with remote shopping carts. Has anyone found a way of getting the contents of the "local" cart, apart from scraping the HTML? Thanks.

  We're uploading files to a temporary folder in a bucket. After that, we're trying to copy the uploaded files to its actual folder then delete the files in the temporary folder. It doesn't timeout when working with a single file. We're using the ThreeSharp API.   I use SSL certificate for a web site I set up in Amazon EC2 Machine Instance. The SSL certificate is for one domain name, which is not public DNS for the Amazon Machine Instance. The browser always complains the mismatch in the domain name because it compares the domain name of the SSL certificate to the Amazon public DNS. How can I set up not to cause this problem? I tried both domain name forwarding and A Record setting. Maybe it's because I'm not so familiar with Amazon EC2 and I haven't configured domain name correctly. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  My ideal setup would be to take a current clients site, upload a .htaccess with a regex inside, that would match the URI, and if it finds a certain file extension, it would use the same path, but with an altered domain. ie. Normal path: http://www.domain.com/something/images/someimage.jpeg http://www.domain.com/assets/js/jquery.js .htaccess translated would turn the above into: http://mycdn.other.com/something/images/someimage.jpeg http://mycdn.other.com/assets/js/jquery.js I googled this for hours in a row, no luck. Again, this is for actually making use of Amazon's CloudFront. S3 is already mounted to the website for backups and storing files using s3fs, but this doesn't solve the issue since it's using S3 directly, not using the CloudFront.

  Hi there. We are considering moving our servers to Amazone EC2 cloud. The only thing that stops right now is their problems with ip ranges banned from spam mail lists like SORBS. We are considering leaving one dedicated server in our current hosting, the one which we use to send mail (and other several features we will move to EC2), in order to be able to send the mails from this smtp server instead from Amazon. So, the idea is to have our sites hosted in EC2, and when they need to send mail, redirect they to our "local" smtp server. Do you think it´s viable? Can you think on a better solution? Usage will be 1gb of ram and around less than 5gb of hardisk and same bandwidth.   I am facing a huge delay while uploading and downloading files from my Windows Amazon EC2 server to my android device. It takes around 50 seconds to upload then download 500 Kbytes image. My location is in asia and the server is is US-East. I pinged the server from my android and obtained values around 500 ms for RTT. Is this normal? How is this explained? I tried this website: http://cloudharmony.com/speedtest/run and obtained that downloading 270 Kbytes file takes around 20 seconds. How is this delay justified?

  I'm trying to mount /vol to a EBS volume on an Amazon EC2 instance. I'm formatting the device to xfs, adding "/dev/sdh /vol xfs noatime 0 0" to my /etc/fstab file, making the /vol dir and mounting it and whenever I try to do anything with that volume (create a file in /vol, cd, ls, anything) or I try to run df the server just freezes. Anyone have any idea what this might be? It's driving me crazy. Edit: It seems to freeze after I mount, has nothing to do with doing any commands to the volume it's self.

• Amazon EC2 instances changes server time/date on reboots and other time weirdness

  I have a windows instance up in EC2. I manually set the timezone to Pacific. 1) For some reason using window's built in time sync doesn't work in the instance...but whatever. I turn off automatic time syncing... but 2) On reboot the time on the server changes! For example, if i reboot it at 4PM on Wednesday, when the server comes back up it will read 12 noon on Thursday! As a result any access to Amazon's other services like SImpleDB fail because the timestamps generated are too far off the current time. Has anyone seen this or figured this out?

• sox mix nested scripts on amazon ec2 rhel linux

  I'm trying to use "sox" to mix some audio files. The command works great on my Mac terminal sox -m audio.wav "| sox upload.wav -p trim 2 1 pad 6" final.wav This mixes (not concatenate) audio.wav and a section of upload.wav from the 2nd second to the 3rd second and adds 6 seconds of padding in the front, and outputs to final.wav Now the problem is, the SAME EXACT command does NOT work my Amazon EC2 RHEL box. (sox is installed correctly). I get the following error sox soxio: Can't open input file `| sox upload.wav -p trim 2 2 pad 6': No such file or directory For some reason RedHat doesn't like the double quotes. Even though it is documented to be used this way. Thanks for your help!

  This is my first experience with ejabberd. Spare me if I miss anything. I have installed ejabberd server on ubuntu 12.04 AMI on Amazon EC2. I have successfully installed the server, added the admin user and host in the config file and opened up reqd ports (5222, 5223, 5269, 5280). Now I tried to login the web admin interface using the admin user id and password. I could log in, BUT I could only see one section, Virtual Hosts. No Control Lists, Access rules, Nodes and Statistics Menu items on the left. Also, when I click Virtual Hosts Menu item, the page that comes up does not show anything. Here are the screenshots

  Well I'm a PHP developer who know few linux commands to get my job done. I need to launch a symfony 1.4 website on Amazon EC2. Everything is fine except IMagick. I magick is also installed through following command: sudo yum install ImageMagick Its php lib is not installed/configured, if that do not happen with above command. In PHP, I'm using IMagick, but script is failing on IMagick. I know problem is with PHP IMagic extention but dont know how to fix that. On dev box, its as simple as turning it on on WAMP. Can someone please suggest where should I look to confirm if IMagick PHP extention installed and configured correctly?
