  I'm seeing very weird behaviour in relation to this domain and a tracking image. On a specific page on our site, I'm seeing a script that's being added dynamically, apparently via flash (I wasn't even aware that flash could alter the DOM ...) That script is located at: http://scorecardresearch.com/beacon.js When I request that URL, I see a 1x1 gif. Another weird point is that this domain appears to break all the web-based whois tools; entering that domain results in a 1x1 gif. This is even to the extent where, if I enter scorecardresearch.com into the Title as part of this question, GIF code appears just below it! Hence, the "dot" in the title. The only 'unusual' thing on the page is a slideshare 'widget', which is flash-based - that's why I'm concluding that flash is altering the DOM. Anyone know what is going on here? How concerned should I be?

• Are you aware of any client-side malware that sends lots of junk requests for .gifs?

  I am getting dozens of 404 errors on my site that are requests for gif's with apparently random names, like 4273uaqa.gif and 5pwowlag.gif. I see that most of them are coming from one user. I assume something is happening in the background on her machine without her knowledge -- a malware thing on the client. Have you seen this behavior before, and do you know what sort of malware might cause it? Would love to advise my customer that s/he has an issue. I'd also like to stop getting these 404 reports.   Hey Guys (and Ladies) I am looking at getting the image name from an image with a src loaded dynamically. Basically what I am doing is using the Google chat badge on a site to live chatting. And else where on the page, I have an image saying Live Chat:Online or Live Chat:Offline. And I want this to change depending on whether I am available to chat or not. Does this make sense? Anyway, the easiest way I figure to do this would be check the img url. If the img is offline.gif then obviously I am offline. An example of a dynamically loaded img would be something like <img src="http://www.google.com/talk/service/badge/Show?encrypted_acount_id_here" /> Once this image has loaded, it loads one of the following images "http://www.google.com/talk/service/resources/offlinef.gif" "http://www.google.com/talk/service/resources/idlef.gif" "http://www.google.com/talk/service/resources/onlinef.gif" Hopefully this make sense now.   Hi, I'm using URL Rewriting under ASP.NET 4 (using ISAPI_Rewrite) and I'm finding that that some of my images are not loading as .NET does not seem to understand I'm using an html BASE tag (pretty standard and essential when doing URL Rewriting): eg in my development environment I have: <base href='http://localhost/venuefinder/Website/'></base> and on my pages I have: <asp:ImageButton runat="server" ImageUrl="~/images/button.gif" /> On the home page of the site (http://localhost/venuefinder/Website/) this works fine, however on a page that uses URL rewriting, the image does not work: /venuefinder/Website/venues/ashton_gate_stadium/V18639/ ..as the browser is trying to load: http://localhost/images/buttons/search-button.gif instead of: http://localhost/venuefinder/Website/venues/images/buttons/search-button.gif This is happening because .NET is rendering the button as: src="../../../images/buttons/search-button.gif" ...which is incorrect. Is there any way I can correct this problem so that .NET renders the correct src attribute for the image? (without all the ../../../ etc)

• Netbeans jar file icon problems

  I finally found how to make an exe project in Netbeans, so a jar file and execute it from the DESKTOP. The only problem I have ocurred is that after I open the jar file and login with my username and password the button icons are not shown, if I put a string it appears but if I put the image it doesn't appear. • Text box creates gap when floated left in IE7

  Hi, I've got a left rounded corner box - textbox - right rounded corner box which all make up part of a search box. All's well in FF, Chrome, IE8 but not IE7. I've checked it using the debug tool and and I have tried a number of options, none of which want to work at the moment, so I am hoping someone might know what this issue (bug) might be please? I have virtually tried everything: The icon is 16x16 which is the right size ....doesn't work I've trying PNG,GIF and JPG formats none of them work. • jquery png fix on hidden div and jquerybrowser question

  Hello, I have some code that if Javascript is available, it will remove a GIF image and replace it with a PNG image. The PNG is display:none and the GIF is visible. Since IE6- browsers can't load PNG, I have loaded the jquery PNG fix. But it only seems to work if the image is already visible. • Many DIVs inside parent DIV, CSS height issue

  Hi everyone, I am putting together a dynamic photo gallery and getting stuck trying to place thumbnails. Basically I am trying to place each thumbnail and caption in its own DIV, floated to the left. The thumbnails are working just as I want them to but for some reason the parent DIV refuses to cover the height of the thumbnail area.   I have this code in JavaScript: function change() { document.getElementById("mem").className = 'gif'; } The fig and gif are like this: a.fig { background: #FFFFFF; } a.gif { background: #000099 ; } and the function is used like this <a class ="fig" id ="mem" onClick="javascript:change()" href="users" > Where the only difference between gif and fig in CSS is that they have different background colors. The problem is that the change is only noticeable in just a second and it is not permanent! Any ideas?

  Hello, I have two tabs each with different styles and different text. One recent posts and one recent comments the css for each are below with the ones I need to have when they are selected. So pretty much when a user selects the recent comments it will change the entire block to the second one (2). Pretty much changing width, and swapping the css for both tabs.   Is there any way I can embed the images within my exe (as resource?) and use it in generated HTML ? Here are the requirements: A. I want to show dynamic HTML content (e.g. using webBrowser control, VS 2008, VB .Net, winForm desktop application) B. I want to generate the HTML on-the-fly using XML and XSL (file1.xml or file2.xml transformed by my.xsl) C. The HTML may contain IMG tags (file1.gif and or file2.gif according to the xml+xsl transformation) and here comes the complicated one: D. All these files (file1.xml, file2.xml, my.xsl, file1.gif, file2.gif) should be embedded in one exe file. I guess the XML and XSL can be embedded resources, and I can read them as stream, but what ways do I have to reference the image within the HTML ? <IMG src="???" /> I do not want to use absolute path and external files. If the image files are resources, can I use relative path? Relative to what? (I can use BASE tag, and then what?) Can I use stream as in email messages? If so, where can I find the format I need to use? http://www.websiteoptimization.com/speed/tweak/inline-images/ are browser dependent. What is the browser used by webBrowser control? IE? what version? Does it matter if I use GIF or JPG or BMP (or any other image format) for the images? Does it matter if I use mshtml library and not the regular webBrowser control?
