  • Force ListViewItem Background colour to change when bound item it is bound to changes.

    - by hayrob
    My ItemContainerStyle works perfectly when a ListViewItem is added: <Style x:Key="ItemContStyle" TargetType="{x:Type ListViewItem}"> <Style.Resources> <SolidColorBrush x:Key="lossBrush" Color="Red" /> <SolidColorBrush x:Key="newPartNo" Color="LightGreen" /> <SolidColorBrush x:Key="noSupplier" Color="Yellow" /> <Orders:OrderItemStatusConverter x:Key="OrderItemConverter" /> </Style.Resources> <Style.Triggers> <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource Self}, Path=DataContext, Converter={StaticResource OrderItemConverter}}" Value="-1"> <Setter Property="Background" Value="{StaticResource lossBrush}" /> </DataTrigger> <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource Self},Path=DataContext, Converter={StaticResource OrderItemConverter}}" Value="-2"> <Setter Property="Background" Value="{StaticResource newPartNo}" /> </DataTrigger> <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource Self},Path=DataContext, Converter={StaticResource OrderItemConverter}}" Value="-3"> <Setter Property="Background" Value="{StaticResource noSupplier}" /> </DataTrigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style> However when the source item changes, the trigger is not fired and the background colour is not what I expect. How can I make the trigger fire?

  • IValueConverter from string

    - by Aleksandar Toplek
    I have an Enum that needs to be shown in ComboBox. I have managed to get enum values to combobox using ItemsSource and I'm trying to localize them. I thought that that could be done using value converter but as my enum values are already strings compiler throws error that IValueConverter can't take string as input. I'm not aware of any other way to convert them to other string value. Is there some other way to do that (not the localization but conversion)? I'm using this marku extension to get enum values [MarkupExtensionReturnType(typeof (IEnumerable))] public class EnumValuesExtension : MarkupExtension { public EnumValuesExtension() {} public EnumValuesExtension(Type enumType) { this.EnumType = enumType; } [ConstructorArgument("enumType")] public Type EnumType { get; set; } public override object ProvideValue(IServiceProvider serviceProvider) { if (this.EnumType == null) throw new ArgumentException("The enum type is not set"); return Enum.GetValues(this.EnumType); } } and in Window.xaml <Converters:UserTypesToStringConverter x:Key="userTypeToStringConverter" /> .... <ComboBox ItemsSource="{Helpers:EnumValuesExtension Data:UserTypes}" Margin="2" Grid.Row="0" Grid.Column="1" SelectedIndex="0" TabIndex="1" IsTabStop="False"> <ComboBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type Data:UserTypes}"> <Label Content="{Binding Converter=userTypeToStringConverter}" /> </DataTemplate> </ComboBox.ItemTemplate> </ComboBox> And here is converter class, it's just a test class, no localization yet. public class UserTypesToStringConverter : IValueConverter { public object Convert(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, CultureInfo culture) { return (int) ((Data.UserTypes) value) == 0 ? "Fizicka osoba" : "Pravna osoba"; } public object ConvertBack(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, CultureInfo culture) { return default(Data.UserTypes); } }

  • WPF - Setting ComboBox.SelectedItem in XAML based on matching object

    - by Andy T
    Hi, so, I have templated combobox that is basically acting as a simple colour palette. It is populated with a list of SolidColorBrush objects. Fine. Now, I have some data that holds the hex value of the current colour. I have a converter that converts the hex into a SolidColorBrush. Also fine. Now, I want to set the SelectedItem property of the combobox based on the colour from my datasource. Since my combo is populated with objects of type SolidColourBrush, and my binding converter is returning a SolidColorBrush, I assumed it would be as simple as saying: SelectedItem="{Binding Color, Converter={StaticResource StringToBrush}}" However... it doesn't work :( I've tested that the binding is working behind the scenes by using the exact same value for the Background property of the combobox. It works fine. So, clearly I can't just say SelectedItem = [something] where that [something] is basically an object equal to the item I want to be selected. What is the right way to do this? Surely it's possible in a XAML-only styley using binding, and I don't have to do some nasty C# iterating through all items in the combobox trying to find a match (that seems awfully old-school)...? Any help appreciated. Many thanks! AT

  • WPF validation red border doesn't show If UserControl collapsed first

    - by Creepy Gnome
    There seems to be a bug with WPF in 3.5, and I was hoping someone may have found a workaround. Basically if you have a custom UserControl that contains a TextBox and it is in a Window but initialized to be Collapsed by default in the xaml or code behind if it fails validation when you make the control visible it will not show the red border until it fails while visible. However, this works correctly when visibility is set to Hidden, just no when Collapsed. I am already overriding the ErrorTemplate with a style to workaround the Adornment issue with the red border staying visibile when you collapse the control. Below is my full style for the TextBox. If there is any additional changes or additions to make it work correctly with collapsed controls that would be great. <Style TargetType="TextBox"> <Setter Property="Margin" Value="3" /> <Setter Property="Validation.ErrorTemplate"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate> <ControlTemplate.Resources> <BooleanToVisibilityConverter x:Key="converter" /> </ControlTemplate.Resources> <DockPanel LastChildFill="True"> <Border BorderThickness="2" BorderBrush="Red" Visibility="{ Binding ElementName=placeholder, Mode=OneWay, Path=AdornedElement.IsVisible, Converter={StaticResource converter}}" > <AdornedElementPlaceholder x:Name="placeholder" /> </Border> </DockPanel> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> <Style.Triggers> <Trigger Property="Validation.HasError" Value="true" > <Setter Property="ToolTip" Value="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource Self}, Path=(Validation.Errors)[0].ErrorContent}" /> </Trigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style>

  • How to deal with "partial" dates (2010-00-00) from MySQL in Django?

    - by Etienne
    In one of my Django projects that use MySQL as the database, I need to have a date fields that accept also "partial" dates like only year (YYYY) and year and month (YYYY-MM) plus normal date (YYYY-MM-DD). The date field in MySQL can deal with that by accepting 00 for the month and the day. So 2010-00-00 is valid in MySQL and it represent 2010. Same thing for 2010-05-00 that represent May 2010. So I started to create a PartialDateField to support this feature. But I hit a wall because, by default, and Django use the default, MySQLdb, the python driver to MySQL, return a datetime.date object for a date field AND datetime.date() support only real date. So it's possible to modify the converter for the date field used by MySQLdb and return only a string in this format 'YYYY-MM-DD'. Unfortunately the converter use by MySQLdb is set at the connection level so it's use for all MySQL date fields. But Django DateField rely on the fact that the database return a datetime.date object, so if I change the converter to return a string, Django is not happy at all. Someone have an idea or advice to solve this problem? How to create a PartialDateField in Django ? EDIT Also I should add that I already thought of 2 solutions, create 3 integer fields for year, month and day (as mention by Alison R.) or use a varchar field to keep date as string in this format YYYY-MM-DD. But in both solutions, if I'm not wrong, I will loose the special properties of a date field like doing query of this kind on them: Get all entries after this date. I can probably re-implement this functionality on the client side but that will not be a valid solution in my case because the database can be query from other systems (mysql client, MS Access, etc.)

  • C#'s equivalent to VB.Net's DirectCast?

    - by Collin Sauve
    This has probably been asked before, but if it has, I can't find it. Does C# have an equivalent to VB.Net's DirectCast? I am aware that it has () casts and the 'as' keyword, but those line up to CType and TryCast. To be clear, these keywords do the following; CType/() casts: If it is already the correct type, cast it, otherwise look for a type converter and invoke it. If no type converter is found, throw an InvalidCastException. TryCast/"as" keyword: If it is the correct type, cast it, otherwise return null. DirectCast: If it is the correct type, cast it, otherwise throw an InvalidCastException. EDIT: After I have spelled out the above, some people have still responded that () is equivalent, so I will expand further upon why this is not true. DirectCast only allows for either Narrowing or Widening conversions on inheritance tree, it does not support conversions across different branches like () does. ie: C#, this compiles and runs: //This code uses a type converter to go across an inheritance tree double d = 10; int i = (int)d; VB.Net, this does NOT COMPILE 'Direct cast can only go up or down a branch, never across to a different one. Dim d as Double= 10 Dim i as Integer = DirectCast(d, Integer) The equivalent in VB.Net to my C# code is CType: 'This compiles and runs Dim d as Double= 10 Dim i as Integer = CType(d, Integer) (Edit again, I was originally using strings, I changed it to double... sorry)

  • java template design

    - by Sean Nguyen
    Hi, I have this class: public class Converter { private Logger logger = Logger.getLogger(Converter.class); public String convert(String s){ if (s == null) throw new IllegalArgumentException("input can't be null"); logger.debug("Input = " + s); String r = s + "abc"; logger.debug("Output = " + s); return r; } public Integer convert(Integer s){ if (s == null) throw new IllegalArgumentException("input can't be null"); logger.debug("Input = " + s); Integer r = s + 10; logger.debug("Output = " + s); return r; } } The above 2 methods are very similar so I want to create a template to do the similar things and delegate the actual work to the approriate class. But I also want to easily extends this frame work without changing the template. So for example: public class ConverterTemplate { private Logger logger = Logger.getLogger(Converter.class); public Object convert(Object s){ if (s == null) throw new IllegalArgumentException("input can't be null"); logger.debug("Input = " + s); Object r = doConverter(); logger.debug("Output = " + s); return r; } protected abstract Object doConverter(Object arg); } public class MyConverter extends ConverterTemplate { protected String doConverter(String str) { String r = str + "abc"; return r; } protected Integer doConverter(Integer arg) { Integer r = arg + 10; return r; } } But that doesn't work. Can anybody suggest me a better way to do that? I want to achieve 2 goals: 1. A template that is extensible and does all the similar work for me. 2. I ant to minimize the number of extended class. Thanks,

  • Are there any vendors making a Gigabit Fiber solution for laptops?

    - by romandas
    I'm trying to build a laptop system that can connect to just about any network you might come across in a large enterprise. I realize I can use a media converter to go from twisted pair to fiber but prefer to have a NIC instead of a converter. Is there a vendor out there that actually makes a gigabit ethernet fiber adapter for laptops? Edit: A year after I asked this question, apparently Allied Telesis came out with the AT-2872SX ExpressCard which has an SC connector for Gigabit Ethernet. See syneticon-dj's answer below.

  • How to make other computers connected to my workgroup able to browse my web server via my private local domain www.mydomain.local?

    - by Motivated Student
    Background I have a broadband connection. The fiber optic cable running from outside to my building is connected to a converter unit. The output of the converter is connected to a router. The router also provides 8 LAN ports to which the computers are connected. Shortly speaking, all computers are interconnected in a workgroup as opposed to a domain. My computer hosts an IIS web server using a private or local domain name www.mydomain.local. I has added 127.0.0.1 www.mydomain.local to the hosts file in the server C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc so I can browse the site from within the server. So far so good. How to make other computers connected to my workgroup able to browse my web server via my private local domain www.mydomain.local? Note: Again, I am a newbie. I have no idea what I should do next.

  • Nginx static files exclude one or some file extensions

    I'm serving up a static site via nginx. location ~* \.(avi|bin|bmp|dmg|doc|docx|dpkg|exe|flv|gif|htm|html|ico|ics|img|jpeg|jpg|m2a|m2v|mov|mp3|mp4|mpeg|mpg|msi|pdf|pkg|png|ppt|pptx|ps|rar|rss|rtf|swf|tif|tiff|txt|wmv|xhtml|xls|xml|zip)$ { root /var/www/html1; access_log off; expires 1d; } And my goal is to exclude requests like http://connect1.webinar.ru/converter/task/. Full view is like http://mydomain.tld/converter/task/setComplete/fid/34330/fn/7c2cfed32ec2eef6788e728fa46f7a80.ppt.swf. Despite the fact these URLs ends in such a format they are not static, but fake script requests, so I have a problems with them. What is the best way to do this? How can I add an exclusion for this URL or maybe I can to exclude the specific file exptension (.ppt.swf, pptx.swf) from the list of this Nginx location? Thanks.

  • Straight cable or cross over cable?

    - by om sai
    I have pppoe internet connection. My ISP provides connections like this: ISP->media converter(fiber)->8 port switch(TP Link TL-SF1008D)->to individual internet connection account holders (like me) Now the connection between the media converter and the switch is done using 4 pair cross over cat5 cable and I would like to connect the cable running from the switch to the router and through router to my PC. So what type of cable should I use to make the connection between the switch and the router (straight thru cable or cross over cable)? The point I am trying to make is I am able to connect to the internet using straight through cable between the switch and my PC but when I connect the same cable between the switch and the router and from router to my PC I am not able to connect to the internet. Also, if I am using the 2 pair cable (instead of 4) between the switch and the router I am able to connect to the internet but same is not true in case of 4 pair cat5 cable.

  • how to connect virtual box os and local machine

    This question is in connection to this question asked by a user before: http://superuser.com/questions/73470/virtualbox-vdi-file-to-vmware On how to convert vdi to vmdk or vmx using vmware converter. How do I connect the windows xp that is in virtual box to the local computer (windows 7) in a network. Because I got this error while I tried following this instruction: Give the IP address, username and password of the remote machine that you would like to convert and then hit next I got this error in vmware converter: Unable to connect the specified host 10.0.2.15 which is the ip address of the xp machine inside virtual box. It also said that there is a network configuration problem. And when I inputted the ip address from whatismyip.com which should be the same as the ip address on local machine. I didn't get the previous error but I got another one, it said that: insufficient permissions to connect to "ip address" What solution can you suggest for this problem?

  • Converting an ancient RH8 system to VMware ESXi

    - by donatello
    I am curious to know what options I have to convert a very old RedHat8 machine to a virtual one on ESXi. Looking at VMware Converter it seems there's an option to login to the RH8 using SSH, and from there it will convert to the ESXi-server. That makes me a bit nervous though, exactly what is happening there? The RH8 machine is slightly critical, and if anything messes up it'll likely result in many hours extra work. :( Another option I thought of was to boot a LiveCD on RH8-system and create a raw "dd dump" of the disk. The similar method is used to restore the image, I boot a LiveCD on the VM in ESXi and use "dd" to write it to disk. Is there any other option I could use? I'm using the cheap version of ESXi, hence I have no access to the Converter BootCD so these rather cumbersome methods is the only I can think of. :)

  • Recovering damaged external hard disk by installing internally

    - by nfarshchi
    I had a 1TB Western Digital (My book series) 3.5" USB3. One day, the SATA to USB3 converter board was damaged and has not worked since. I decided to open the cover and use the HDD as an internal HDD. When I attached the HDD to my PC and booted up in Windows, it asked me which type of ????? I want to use "MBR or GBR" (I dont remember the exact question) I chose MBR and Windows gave me a 1TB empty Hard drive. I tried to recover with recover my files and some other recovery programs but no success. Some one told me that you should choosed GBR instead of MBR . How can I do that now? Another guy told me that the SATA to USB3 converter board is coded to save data on HDD and you can not use them internally without losing data, and I should find another SATA to USB3 board (exact same). It is impossible to find because they are not produced any more. Please help me to find a solution to bring back my data. UPDATE I have 1TB WD "Mybook" USB 3. the board that convert sata to usb3 was damaged. so when the HDD was in the box computer did not recognize it. I opened the box and remove HDD to use it internal. after connecting to my PC windows showed me one massage that I had two choice MBR or GPT I choosed MBR one and windows gave me 1TB empty new volume. I tried many recovery software to recover my data but no success. I brought it to one expert recovery company and they told me the converter board (SATA to USB3) make some encryption on data and with out that board you cannot recover any thing. so I bought another empty WD box and put the HDD inside but even after that also there is no file. I tried to recover again in this state but no success. so I have some unanswered question. does this converted boards make any password or encryption? if yes how can I solve it? does using many recovery programs affected my data? any suggestion or solution for bring back my data? I had use recovery programs such as : recover my files , EaseUS data recovery, easy recovery, test disk, Ontrack easy recovery . Note: when I was using test disk it asked me to choose which partition table I want to use. as it was I choose NTFS, does this made any change on data?

  • WPF Styles and Tooltips Question

    - by A.R.
    I have a style that I am using to make dynamic tooltips on certain text boxes like so. <Style TargetType="{x:Type TextBox}"> <Setter Property="MinWidth" Value="100"/> <Style.Triggers> <Trigger Property="Validation.HasError" Value="True"> <!-- item of interest --> <Setter Property="ToolTip"> <Setter.Value> <MultiBinding Converter="{StaticResource ErrorMessageConverter}"> <Binding RelativeSource="{RelativeSource Self}" Path="Tag"/> </MultiBinding> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Trigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style> This works very well, but if I want to use a more complex tooltip I can't figure out how to bind to 'Tag' anymore for the converter value. For example; ... <Setter Property="ToolTip"> <Setter.Value> <StackPanel> <TextBlock> <TextBlock.Text> <MultiBinding Converter="{StaticResource ErrorMessageConverter}"> <!-- item of interest --> <Binding RelativeSource=" what goes here?? "/> </MultiBinding> </TextBlock.Text> </TextBlock> <Image/> </StackPanel> </Setter.Value> </Setter> ... I have tried several flavors of 'FindAncestor' and what not for the relative source, but I can't get anything to work. Any ideas?? UPDATE: 12-29-2010 : Here is the correct code, answer provided by our friend Goblin below. Works perfectly! ... <Setter Property="ToolTip"> <Setter.Value> <!-- Item of interest --> <ToolTip DataContext="{Binding Path=PlacementTarget, RelativeSource={x:Static RelativeSource.Self}}"> <StackPanel> <Image/> <TextBlock> <TextBlock.Text> <MultiBinding Converter="{StaticResource ErrorMessageConverter}"> <Binding Path="Tag"/> </MultiBinding> </TextBlock.Text> </TextBlock> </StackPanel> </ToolTip> </Setter.Value> </Setter> ...

  • WFP: How do you properly Bind a DependencyProperty to the GUI

    - by Robert Ross
    I have the following class (abreviated for simplicity). The app it multi-threaded so the Set and Get are a bit more complicated but should be ok. namespace News.RSS { public class FeedEngine : DependencyObject { public static readonly DependencyProperty _processing = DependencyProperty.Register("Processing", typeof(bool), typeof(FeedEngine), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(true, FrameworkPropertyMetadataOptions.AffectsRender)); public bool Processing { get { return (bool)this.Dispatcher.Invoke( DispatcherPriority.Normal, (DispatcherOperationCallback)delegate { return GetValue(_processing); }, Processing); } set { this.Dispatcher.BeginInvoke(DispatcherPriority.Normal, (SendOrPostCallback)delegate { SetValue(_processing, value); }, value); } } public void Poll() { while (Running) { Processing = true; //Do my work to read the data feed from remote source Processing = false; Thread.Sleep(PollRate); } // } } } Next I have my main form as the following: <Window x:Class="News.Main" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:converter="clr-namespace:News.Converters" xmlns:local="clr-namespace:News.Lookup" xmlns:rss="clr-namespace:News.RSS" Title="News" Height="521" Width="927" Initialized="Window_Initialized" Closing="Window_Closing" > <Window.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <converter:BooleanConverter x:Key="boolConverter" /> <converter:ArithmeticConverter x:Key="arithConverter" /> ... </ResourceDictionary> </Window.Resources> <DockPanel Name="dockPanel1" SnapsToDevicePixels="False" > <ToolBarPanel Height="37" Name="toolBarPanel" Orientation="Horizontal" DockPanel.Dock="Top" > <ToolBarPanel.Children> <Button DataContext="{DynamicResource FeedEngine}" HorizontalAlignment="Right" Name="btnSearch" ToolTip="Search" Click="btnSearch_Click" IsEnabled="{Binding Path=Processing, Converter={StaticResource boolConverter}}"> <Image Width="32" Height="32" Name="imgSearch" Source="{Resx ResxName=News.Properties.Resources, Key=Search}" /> </Button> ... </DockPanel> </Window> As you can see I set the DataContext to FeedEngine and Bind IsEnabled to Processing. I have also tested the boolConverter separately and it functions (just applies ! (Not) to a bool). Here is my Main window code behind in case it helps to debug. namespace News { /// <summary> /// Interaction logic for Main.xaml /// </summary> public partial class Main : Window { public FeedEngine _engine; List<NewsItemControl> _newsItems = new List<NewsItemControl>(); Thread _pollingThread; public Main() { InitializeComponent(); this.Show(); } private void Window_Initialized(object sender, EventArgs e) { // Load current Feed data. _engine = new FeedEngine(); ThreadStart start = new ThreadStart(_engine.Poll); _pollingThread = new Thread(start); _pollingThread.Start(); } } } Hope someone can see where I missed a step. Thanks.

  • Custom ProgressBarBrushConverter Not Filling In ProgressBar

    - by Wonko the Sane
    Hello All, I am attempting to create a custom ProgressBarBrushConverter, based on information from here and here. However, when it runs, the progress is not being shown. If I use the code found in the links, it appears to work correctly. Here is the converter in question: public object Convert(object[] values, Type targetType, object parameter, CultureInfo culture) { ProgressBar progressBar = null; foreach (object value in values) { if (value is ProgressBar) { progressBar = value as ProgressBar; break; } } if (progressBar == null) return DependencyProperty.UnsetValue; FrameworkElement indicator = progressBar.Template.FindName("PART_Indicator", progressBar) as FrameworkElement; DrawingBrush drawingBrush = new DrawingBrush(); drawingBrush.Viewport = drawingBrush.Viewbox = new Rect(0.0, 0.0, indicator.ActualWidth, indicator.ActualHeight); drawingBrush.ViewportUnits = BrushMappingMode.Absolute; drawingBrush.TileMode = TileMode.None; drawingBrush.Stretch = Stretch.None; DrawingGroup group = new DrawingGroup(); DrawingContext context = group.Open(); context.DrawRectangle(progressBar.Foreground, null, new Rect(0.0, 0.0, indicator.ActualWidth, indicator.ActualHeight)); context.Close(); drawingBrush.Drawing = group; return drawingBrush; } Here is the ControlTemplate (the MultiBinding is to make sure that the converter is called whenever the Value or IsIndeterminate properties are changed): <ControlTemplate x:Key="customProgressBarTemplate" TargetType="{x:Type ProgressBar}"> <Grid> <Path x:Name="PART_Track" HorizontalAlignment="Left" VerticalAlignment="Top" Stretch="Fill" StrokeLineJoin="Round" Stroke="#DDCBCBCB" StrokeThickness="4" Data="M 20,100 L 80,10 C 100,120 160,140 190,180 S 160,220 130,180 T 120,150 20,100 Z "> <Path.Fill> <MultiBinding> <MultiBinding.Converter> <local:ProgressBarBrushConverter /> </MultiBinding.Converter> <Binding RelativeSource="{RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type ProgressBar}}" /> <Binding Path="IsIndeterminate" RelativeSource="{RelativeSource TemplatedParent}"/> <Binding Path="Value" RelativeSource="{RelativeSource TemplatedParent}"/> </MultiBinding> </Path.Fill> <!--<Path.LayoutTransform> <RotateTransform Angle="180" CenterX="190" CenterY="110" /> </Path.LayoutTransform>--> </Path> <Rectangle x:Name="PART_Indicator" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" Margin="1" /> </Grid> </ControlTemplate> Finally, the Window code (fairly straightforward - it just animates progress from 0 to 100 and back again): <ProgressBar x:Name="progress" Template="{StaticResource customProgressBarTemplate}" Foreground="Red"> <ProgressBar.Triggers> <EventTrigger RoutedEvent="ProgressBar.Loaded"> <BeginStoryboard x:Name="storyAnimate"> <Storyboard> <DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames Duration="0:0:12" AutoReverse="True" FillBehavior="Stop" RepeatBehavior="Forever" Storyboard.TargetName="progress" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(ProgressBar.Value)"> <LinearDoubleKeyFrame Value="0" KeyTime="0:0:0" /> <LinearDoubleKeyFrame Value="100" KeyTime="0:0:5" /> <LinearDoubleKeyFrame Value="100" KeyTime="0:0:6" /> <LinearDoubleKeyFrame Value="0" KeyTime="0:0:11" /> <LinearDoubleKeyFrame Value="0" KeyTime="0:0:12" /> </DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames> </Storyboard> </BeginStoryboard> </EventTrigger> </ProgressBar.Triggers> </ProgressBar> I am thinking that the problem is in the DrawRectangle call in the Convert method, but setting a TracePoint on it shows what appear to be valid values for the Rect. What am I missing here? Thanks, wTs

The binding seems to be attaching fine...i.e when I inspect the value of the ICommand property it is bound to an instance of RelayCommand. The CanExecute delegate does get invoked, however when I open the context menu and select an item the Execute delegate does not get invoked. Heres my View (which is defined as the DataTemplate to use for instances of the following ViewModel in a resource dictionary): <UserControl x:Class="SmartSystems.DragDropProto.ProductLinkView" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:local="clr-namespace:Proto"> <UserControl.Resources> <local:CenteringConverter x:Key="centeringConvertor"> </local:CenteringConverter> </UserControl.Resources> <UserControl.ContextMenu> <ContextMenu> <MenuItem Command="{Binding ChangeColor}">Change Color</MenuItem> </ContextMenu> </UserControl.ContextMenu> <Canvas> <Ellipse Width="5" Height="5" > <Ellipse.Fill> <SolidColorBrush Color="{Binding LinkColor}"></SolidColorBrush> </Ellipse.Fill> <Ellipse.RenderTransform> <TranslateTransform X="{Binding EndpointOneXPos, Converter={StaticResource centeringConvertor}}" Y="{Binding EndpointOneYPos, Converter={StaticResource centeringConvertor}}"/> </Ellipse.RenderTransform> </Ellipse> <Line X1="{Binding Path=EndpointOneXPos}" Y1="{Binding Path=EndpointOneYPos}" X2="{Binding Path=EndpointTwoXPos}" Y2="{Binding Path=EndpointTwoYPos}"> <Line.Stroke> <SolidColorBrush Color="{Binding LinkColor}"></SolidColorBrush> </Line.Stroke> </Line> <Ellipse Width="5" Height="5" > <Ellipse.Fill> <SolidColorBrush Color="{Binding LinkColor}"></SolidColorBrush> </Ellipse.Fill> <Ellipse.RenderTransform> <TranslateTransform X="{Binding EndpointTwoXPos, Converter={StaticResource centeringConvertor}}" Y="{Binding EndpointTwoYPos, Converter={StaticResource centeringConvertor}}"/> </Ellipse.RenderTransform> </Ellipse> </Canvas> </UserControl> and ViewModel (with uneccessary implementation details removed): class ProductLinkViewModel : BaseViewModel { public ICommand ChangeColor { get; private set; } public Color LinkColor { get; private set; } public ProductLinkViewModel(....) { ... ChangeColor = new RelayCommand(ChangeColorAction); LinkColor = Colors.Blue; } private void ChangeColorAction(object param) { LinkColor = LinkColor == Colors.Blue ? Colors.Red : Colors.Blue; OnPropertyChanged("LinkColor"); } }

  • Introducing… SharePress!

    - by Bil Simser
    For those that follow me I’ve been away from blogging and twittering for a couple of months. This is the reason. For the last few months I’ve been working with a cross-functional team putting together a new product from the people that run WordPress, the free premiere blogging platform. The result is a new product we call SharePress, a highly extensible blogging and content management platform with the usability of WordPress and the power of SharePoint combined into a single product. SharePress gives you SharePoint sites that are SEO-friendly delivered with a Web 2.0 ease of use, leveraging all of the existing abilities of SharePoint and WordPress that we know today. The Reason Back in December I was approached by the WordPress team about building a new platform that took advantage of the power of SharePoint but the ease of WordPress. I’m no stranger to WordPress and it’s 5 minute no-holds-barred install (I’ve always wanted SharePoint to do this!) and I run my personal blog on WordPress as does my better half, Princess Jenn. There’s always been a pitch by so-called Web 2.0 applications to deliver the power of SharePoint but the ease of [insert product here] over the past year or so. I checked each and every one of them out, but they fell woefully short when it came to SharePoint’s document management, versioning, and customization. They try, but it’s never been up to par in my books. On the flipside, SharePoint has always been tops in collaboration in the Enterprise but it’s painful to develop web parts, UI customization can be tricky, and there’s just no user community for something as simple as themes and designs. The Product Enter SharePress. Is it SharePoint? Is it WordPress? It’s both, and neither. Everything you like about both products are there but this is a bold new product that is positioned to bring SharePoint to the masses while maintaining the fidelity of an Enterprise 2.0 collaboration platform. SharePress delivers on all fronts including: The ability to leverage any WordPress/Joomla/Drupal/DotNetNuke themes and skins inside of SharePoint Run any WordPress/Drupal/Joomla/DotNetNuke/SharePoint plug-in/module/web part/feature works out of the box with SharePress SEO-friendly URLs and pages Permalinks for all content All the features of SharePoint Server 2010 (including InfoPath, Excel, and Access services) included in the price Small deployment footprint. You decide how much to deploy and where. Independent Database Abstraction Layer (iDal) that allows you to deploy to SQL Server 2005/2008, MySQL, and PostgreSQL Portable Rendering Engine Layer (PREL) so you host .NET or PHP on Apache or IIS (version 7 or higher). The install feature is built around WordPress and it’s famous 5-minute install (actually, it’s never taken me more than 1 minute). SharePress installs with two screens after the files are uploaded to your server (which can be done entirely using FTP): After you enter two fields of information click “Install SharePress” and you’ll be done: No mess, no fuss, no complicated dependencies, and no server access required! How simpler could this be? The Technology WordPress plug-ins and themes working with SharePoint? Of course! The answer is IronPython which has now reached a maturity level capable of doing on the fly code language conversions. SharePress is a brand new product not built on top of any previous platform but leverages all the power of each of those applications through a patent pending technique called SharePress Multi-plAtfoRm Technology (SMART). SMART will convert PHP code on the fly into Python (using SWIG as an intermediate processor) which is then compiled to MSIL and then delivered back as an ASP.NET MVC application (output is C# or VB.NET, but you can build your own SMART converter to output a different language). Sound complicated? It is, but it’s all behind the scenes and you don’t have to worry about a thing. This image illustrates the technology stack and process: So users can load up out of the box PHP themes and plug-ins from the WordPress/Joomla/Drupal community into the SMART converter and output MSIL that is used by the SharePress engine and rendered on the fly to the end user. Supported PHP versions are 4.xx and 5.xx with version 6 support to come when it’s released. Similarly you can take any .NET application, DotNetNuke Module, SharePoint Web Part or event handler and feed it into the converter to output the same. Everything is reverse compiled into MSIL so it becomes technology agnostic. No source code access is needed and the SMART converter can handle obfuscated .NET assemblies that were built with .NET 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.5, and 4.0. With this technology you can also with the flip of a switch have the output create PHP pages for you. This allows you to run SharePress on Unix based systems running PHP and MySQL, allowing you to deliver your SharePoint like experience to your users with a $0 infrastructure footprint. Here’s SharePress with the default WordPress post imported then a stock SharePoint collaboration site was imported. The site was then applied with the default Kubrick theme from WordPress. The Features Deploy any of the freely available 100,000 WordPress/Joomla/Drupal themes instantly to your runtime SharePress environment and preview or activate them right from your browser. Built-in Web 2.0 jQuery Enabled End User and Administrator Web Interface. Never have to remote into a server again! Run any SharePoint Web Part or Event Handler directly without modification or access to source code in SharePress. Use any WordPress/Joomla/Drupal plug-in directly in SharePress, no local admin or access to server. Just upload and activate. Upload and Activate any SharePoint Solution Package to any site remotely. No rebuilding. Changes made to sites require no compiling or rebuilding and are published immediately. Password Protected Content. You can give passwords to individual posts, articles, pages, documents, forms, and list items. A powerful polymorphic Captcha system backs the security interface and vendors can easily tie into smart card readers, fingerprint readers, and retina scanners for authorization and identification. OpenID, Windows Live, and Windows Authentication are supported out of the box. Infinitely customizable and extensible. You can leverage plug-ins from the open source community to do practically anything, all configured and uploaded via the browser. Additionally the developer API (available soon) allows you to build extensions in .NET, PHP, and Python with little effort. Easy Importing. We have importers for Blogger, WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, DotNetNuke, and SharePoint so you can populate your site quickly and easily with full metadata modeling and creation. Banner Management. It’s easy to setup banners for your web site complete with impression numbers, special URLs, and more. Menu Manager. The Menu Manager allows you to create as many menus as you want, each one can be associated to specific audiences or roles and then be styled across multiple contexts including the same menu delivered as a fly out, rollover, drop down, and just about any navigation you can think of. Collaborative ShareBook. Our exclusive book feature allows you to setup a “book” and then authorize individuals to contribute content. Permalinks. All content in SharePress has a permanent or “perma link” associated with it so people can link to it freely without fear of broken links. Apache or IIS, Unix / Linux / BSD / Solaris / Windows / Mac OS X support. Deliver SharePress the way *you* want from the platform *you* decide. Database Independence. We know people wanted to run on any database platform so SharePress is built on top of a database abstraction layer that allows you to run on SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL. Other databases can be supported by writing a supporting database script consisting of fourteen function calls. The script can be written in Perl, Python, AWK, PowerShell, Unix Shell scripts, VBA, or simple DOS batch files. The Team SharePress is the work of a lot of people in both the WordPress and SharePoint community. I worked with a lot of SharePoint MVPs to create this new product as we really wanted to deliver the most compatible and feature rich system in a product that we would be proud of. Many thanks go out to Eli Bleeker, Todd Robillard, Scot Larson, Daniel Hillier, Shane Fox, Box Peran, Amanda English, and Bill Murray for doing the heavy lifting and all of their expertise and innovative thinking to get this product out. Licensing and Pricing SharePress is still in the final stages for pricing but we’re looking at a price point somewhere between $99-$100 to make it affordable for everyone. We plan to announce final pricing sometime in the next few weeks. There are no additional charges for Enterprise versions or additional features. Everything you see is what’s available and it’s just a matter of lighting up your site with whatever feature you want to enable. The product will not be open source but source code licenses will be available to ISVs who are interested in interfacing with the API at a low level. Cost will be $25,000 USD per developer and gives you complete access to the source code to the SharePress Foundation System and the .NET 4.0 Framework source code. Conclusion We hope you enjoy the launch of SharePress as the new premium blogging and content management platform for both Intranets and the Internet. We think we’ve build the best of breed solutions here and made it easy for anyone to get started with a minimal of infrastructure but allow the scalability of SharePress to shine through in the Enterprise 2.0 world. We encourage your feedback so please leave comments as to what you’re looking for in this system as we’re always evolving it to make it a better product for everyone.
