  SQL in Sixty Seconds is indeed tremendous fun to do. Every week, we try to come up with some new learning which we can share in Sixty Seconds. In this busy world, we all have sixty seconds to learn something new – no matter how much busy we are. In this episode of the series, we talk about another interesting feature of SQL Server Management Studio. In SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) we have two button side by side. 1) Execute (!) and 2) Debug (>). It is quite confusing to a few developers. The debug button which looks like a play button encourages developers to click on the same thinking it will execute the code. Also developer with a Visual Studio background often click it because of their habit. However, Debug button is not the same as Execute button. In most of the cases developers want to click on Execute to run the query but by mistake they click on Debug and it wastes their valuable time. It is very easy to fix this. If developers are not frequently using a debug feature in SQL Server they should hide it from the toolbar itself. This will reduce the chances to incorrectly click on the debug button greatly as well save lots of time for developer as invoking debug processes and turning it off takes a few extra moments. In this Sixty second video we will discuss how one can hide the debug button and avoid confusion regarding execution button. I personally use function key F5 to execute the T-SQL code so I do not face this problem that often.   Is it possible to access the button click event by using the cursor? • Izpack: Creating custom panels

  Hi, I am trying to create a custom panel for an IzPack installer. This means that I have to extend IzPanel. However, it appears that if I do this, the extended panel needs to be in the com.izforge.izpack.panels package. Then I found this post, which stipulates that: As such, you must include installer.jar from the lib folder of IzPack in the build path of your custom panel project. Your custom panel /must/ extend com.izforge.izpack.installer.IzPanel. Furthermore, it /must/ reside in the com.izforge.izpack.panels package. On top of it all, your build jar's name /must/ be the same as the unqualified name of your custom panel class. I take issue with the 1st and 4th points. They imply that I have to create an additional JAR file for each custom IzPanel that I create. Also, I would have to modify the IzPack installation by adding these JARs to one of its subdirectories. Is this article outdated (2008) and can it be safely ignored, or is this still true? If not how can I avoid this and simply have the extended IzPanel on the classpath instead? Thank you!

  I wrote a Windows Installer custom action based on the tutorial found here: http://www.codeproject.com/kb/install/msicustomaction.aspx My custom action is killing a background process of a given name which could still be opened by the user. The reason is that I don't want users to see the warning that a given EXE is running and must be closed so that setup can continue. This works fine when the MSI passes through the UI sequence as the action is created in "InstallUISequence" table like in the tutorial. However, when the MSI is used silently (right-click and select repair or uninstall), then my custom action isn't executed of course. Where do I have to put my custom action so that it is executed immediately also when run silently? I tried adding it to "InstallExecuteSequence", but the 'app running' warning is still shown. I then tried lowering the sequence number of my custom action to 5, but this also didn't help. Note: I'm using Orca to modify an MSI generated from a Visual Studio setup project. I'm then using the transform file to apply it.

• WPF Custom ListBox as Buttons Click not firing

  I am attempting to have a ListBox of TextBoxes with click events. I have read that one way to achieve this was to have a list of Buttons and call ButtonBase.Click="" on the ListBox. This was not working. Any advice as to how I would hook up a click event to the listbox items? • How do i close the alert dialog that displays custom view

  I have an activity named MainActivity which has a button. On click of that button i am displaying an AlertDialog which contains a custom view named ChildWindow.xml. That custom view has multiple textboxes and a OK button. On click of the OK button, i am calling a method of MainActivity. I am able to access the ChildWindow here as view.getRootView().findViewById(R.id.txtFirstName); Once the user clicks on the OK button, i have to close the alert dialog which i am able to do as view.getRootView().setVisibility(View.GONE); My problem is even though i have closed the the ChildWindow in the above statement, i am able to get reference to the textbox in the next line which means AlertDialog is closed but child window is still there. This is how the OK button click looks like: This works as expected: EditText tb = (EditText) view.getRootView().findViewById(R.id.txtFirstName); Toast toast = Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), tb.getText(), Toast.LENGTH_LONG); toast.show(); view.getRootView().setVisibility(View.GONE); This should not work as i am closing the alert dialog and then getting the reference of the textbox but this works too. view.getRootView().setVisibility(View.GONE); EditText tb = (EditText) view.getRootView().findViewById(R.id.txtFirstName); Toast toast = Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), tb.getText(), Toast.LENGTH_LONG); toast.show(); I think i am closing the alert dialog but i am not destroying it from the memory. Can someone point me out what am i missing here?

  I am using custom url schemes. I can send string messages as parameters to my custom url and emailing this to any person. When any person opens this email attachment in device in it open my app installed in device with the passed parameters in my custom url. Similarly how to email an image via custom url and when any person opens this attachment the image is passed to my app in device.   Hi all, I am quite new to WPF/XAML and I am currently facing a problem. I have a solution with two projects in it, the first project is a Custom Control Library with a custom Window form control inside. The second project is a WPF application using my custom window form. All work fine except for the form Icon. In the WPF application project I set my window icon property to "/ProjectTwoNameSpace;component/Resources/Images/Film.ico", and in the WPF custom control I try to show that image that way : <Image Grid.Column="0" Margin="3" Width="27" Height="27"> <Image.Source> <BitmapImage UriSource="{Binding Path=Icon}" /> </Image.Source> </Image> But it doesn't work, I get a error at runtime saying that the property UriSource or StreamSource must be set for my tag. Anyone can help me ? I think it's jsut a WPF newbie problem ^^

So if we are on custom post 3 then it would show 4, 5, 6 in the sidebar. I want to create a custom swing widget - which I can instantiate by code as many as I need and attach them to my main panel. I have developed the rest of the GUI using the GUIBuilder.   Hi, I made a custom button with some panels and pictureboxes. With the MouseEnter and MouseLeave I set the appropriate hover images like normal buttons. The problem is that if I move the mouse too fast over the control it sometimes doesn't trigger the MouseLeave event.   I've got a .net button that has an href attribute value set to 'javascript:WebForm_DoPostBackWithOptions(new WebForm_PostBackOptions("ctl00$cp1$ucInvoiceSearch$btnSearch", "", true, "", "", false, true))'. I've got a textbox that when I press enter I want it to fire this event. Doing the 'Enter' event isn't an issue but I can't get the event on the href to fire using .click(). Here's my function so far: $("[id*='tbInvNo']").keyup(function(event){ var $btn = $(".pnl-invoice-search"); if(event.keyCode == 13) $btn.click(); }); I've got no idea how to get this to fire. Hope someone can help - jQuery and asp.net are driving me up the wall today! :(

• Custom 403 Error page not showing

  I want to restrict access to certain folders (includes, xml and logs for example) and so I've given them 700 permissions, and all files within them 600 permissions. Firstly, is this the right approach to restrict access? I have a .htaccess file in my root that handles rewriting and error documents. There are two pages in the root - 403.php and 404.php - for 403 and 404 errors. And I have these rules added to my .htaccess file: ErrorDocument 404 /404.php ErrorDocument 403 /403.php Now, the 404 page works just fine. The 403 page does not show when I try to access the 'includes' folder - I get the standard apache 403 error page instead, saying 'Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.' However, when I try going to the .htaccess file (in the web root) in my browser, I get my custom 403 error page. Why is this happening?

  I've got a WSS3 sharepoint site that requires windows authentication both in IIS and via the Sharepoint site. What I would like to do is in the case that a user does not provide valid AD credentials they are redirected to a custom error page. Currently, if the user immediately hits cancel when prompthey will see a plain text response of "401 UNAUTHORIZED". If they make an attempt and then hit cancel they instead see a blank page. I have looked into several options such as customErrors, httpModule interception (only saw examples for this after the user is authenticated), IIS Url rewrites (didn't see how this could help). Is there a good way to do this?

I have defined this method: - (void)translationSearch:(id)sender { NSLog(@"in transearch"); [self doSearch]; } This is how I'm adding the UIButton to the UIView: UIButton *translationButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; translationButton.frame = CGRectMake(6, 200, 200, 20); translationButton.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; [translationButton setTitle:@"testing" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [translationButton addTarget:self action:@selector(translationSearch:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [verbView addSubview:translationButton]; Now the button is added to the form without any issue but, when I press it, I am getting an EXC_BAD_ACCESS error. I'm sure it's staring me in the face but I've passed my usual time limit for getting a bug like this fixed so any help would be greatly appreciated. The only thing I can think is the fact that the UIButton is within a UIView which is within a UIScrollView which is within the view controller is somehow causing an issue. Cheers.

• How to vertically align text in a button with a background drawable?

  I had a simple button set up with a background image defined like android:background="?attr/button" where ?attr/button was a reference to a simple 9-patch png. Everything worked fine, text in the button was aligned correctly. Then I needed to have a different background for a pressed state of the button. So I changed that to android:background="@drawable/state_button" where @drawable/state_button is an xml with the following states <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <item android:state_pressed="true" android:drawable="@drawable/button_pressed" /> <!-- pressed --> <item android:state_focused="true" android:drawable="@drawable/button_pressed" /> <!-- focused --> <item android:drawable="@drawable/button" /> <!-- default --> </selector> And after that I can't align the text properly. If I put android:gravity="center_vertical" the text is drawn about 1/4 of the button height from the top. I double-checked my 9-patch images, everything seems fine with them. And I also tried having regular pngs for the background, it also doesn't change anything.

• Mouse wheel scrolls down, but not up?

  I've set up a new machine with Ubuntu 12.04 (x64) and have notice that the mouse wheel scrolls down fine, but when I scroll up, it pages down! I've run xev and have verified that scroll up is registering as button 4 and scoll down is button 5. So everything there is fine. I think that button 4 is somehow mapped to page down instead of scroll up. Any idea how to fix? NOTE: I've read the Ubuntu instructions on how to use imwheel to change mouse button mappings, but it doesn't work on 12.04. See here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/imwheel/+bug/1004812

• Laptop power button not working

  I have a (seemingly rather exotic) Dell Latitude XT2 notebook running Lubuntu 12.04, fresh install. Tried to get the power button to work as expected (opening lubuntu-logout, just as I think it was meant to be out-of-the box), but no success: power button does nothing but forced power-off on long press. Here some more information, please ask if something more could help: Power button is recognized as a device: xinput lists Power Button as a slave keyboard at /dev/input/event1, and I can run a tool to listen to that device and invoke some action (successfully). But using .config/openbox/lubuntu-rc.xml to assign some action to XF86ShutDown or XF86PowerOff does nothing. Works well for any key of the keyboard. xinput --test reports a keycode (key press, key release) of 124 when pressing & releasing the power button. xmodmap -pk lists 124 mapped to XF86PowerOff which seems correct to me (btw: is this the same as XF86ShutDown?) When assigning another keysymname to the 124 keycode, e.g. 'w', still nothing happens when pressing the power button (no window seems to receive a 'w'). Works well for any key on the keyboard. The outputs of xev for a press/release of the power button irritate me: MappingNotify event, serial 41, synthetic NO, window 0x0, request MappingKeyboard, first_keycode 8, count 248 FocusOut event, serial 41, synthetic NO, window 0x2a00001, mode NotifyGrab, detail NotifyAncestor FocusIn event, serial 41, synthetic NO, window 0x2a00001, mode NotifyUngrab, detail NotifyAncestor KeymapNotify event, serial 41, synthetic NO, window 0x0, keys: 93 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 (instead of 93, I also get different values) I might have missed something very basic since I'm not very familiar with both openbox/lubuntu and the X input system. Btw.: same goes for three other special buttons on my laptop..
