• InvalidOperationException when executing SqlCommand with transaction

  I have this code, running parallel in two separate threads. It works fine for a few times, but at some random point it throws InvalidOperationException: The transaction is either not associated with the current connection or has been completed. At the point of exception, I am looking inside the transaction with visual studio and verify its connection is set normally. Also command.Transaction._internalTransaction. _transactionState is set to Active and IsZombied property is set to false. This is a test application and I am using Thread.Sleep for creating longer transactions and causing overlaps. Why may the exception being thrown and what can I do about it?   I want to provide 'install' target for Makefile for web application. I'd like to be able to install it, for example like described below: $ make install \ xxxdir=/var/www/cgi-bin (similarly to how one would use 'bindir' for ordinary programs, and 'mandir' / 'infodir' for documentation). Is there any standard (similar to autotools 'bindir', 'sharedir', etc.) for the name of 'xxxdir' variable in above example? How do you think should such build configuration variable be named?

• Install windows service without InstallUtil.exe

  Hi, I'm trying to deploy a windows service but not quite sure how to do it right. I built it as a console app to start with, I've now turned it into a windows service project and just call my class from the OnStart method in the service. I now need to install this on a server which doesn't have Visual Studio on it, which if I've understood it correctly means I can't use the InstallUtil.exe and have to create an installer class instead. Is this correct? I did have a look at a previous question, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/255056/install-a-net-windows-service-without-installutil-exe, but I just want to make sure I've understood it correctly. If I create the class that question's accepted answer links to, what is the next step? Upload MyService.exe and MyService.exe.config to the server, double click the exe file and Bob's my uncle? • Where to install shared DLLs on Windows

  I have a driver which can be installed on Windows (XP/Vista/7). It's accessed via a DLL that applications link to, and which is also a Winsock Provider (WSP). It used to be installed under System32, but having seen advice not to, I changed it to install under ProgramFiles instead. Now, the problem is that people are having to either copy it back into System32 or copy it into the application directory whenever they want to use it in their own applications, because Windows won't search the install directory under ProgramFiles when the application tries to load the DLL. I've been unable to find any Microsoft documentation discussing this issue, so if System32 shouldn't be used then where should shared DLLs be installed?

  I am trying to install drupal on remote mysql server. I have created the user in mysql and granted the the privileges. I am able to connect through command line from my web server like this "mysql -u xxxx -h 10.xxx.yy.zz3 -p". But when I tried to install drupal I get "SQLSTATE[28000] [1045] Access denied for user 'xxxx'@'localhost'". I have given the privileges for "xxxx"@"10.xxx.yy.zz3" but drupal appends localhost instead of IP to user name. I have changed settings.php to mysql server IP. What am I missing?

  I am trying to install VirtualBox on my Ubuntu. I first tried to sudo apt-get install virtualbox-ose in a terminal, but after the configuration step, it fails with an error: No suitable module for running kernel found When proceeding with starting virtualbox, I get this error: WARNING: The character device /dev/vboxdrv does not exist. Please install the virtualbox-ose-dkms package and the appropriate headers, most likely linux-headers-generic. You will not be able to start VMs until this problem is fixed. So I tried the package from http://www.virtualbox.org/, but starting VirtualBox fails with: WARNING: The vboxdrv kernel module is not loaded. Either there is no module available for the current kernel (2.6.38-8-generic-pae) or it failed to load. Please recompile the kernel module and install it by sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup You will not be able to start VMs until this problem is fixed.   When I try to install CentOS 5.5 in a new VM, I get an error that the installer is unable to retrieve stage2.img. I have verified the URL and I am able to download this file from a web browser. I suspect it is a networking/routing issue, but I can't figure out what is wrong. This is a new install of XenServer 5.6 on a new server. This server is remote, so I don't have physical access to the box - only ssh access. Can anyone give me some tips on what might be wrong here? Do I need to do something special to get a net install to work? For what its worth, I see the same error trying to install Debian Woody using a similar process. Thanks.

  I'm trying to install Windows XP Media Center edition by copying the install disc image to an external hard drive and making it bootable. Has anyone had success getting this to work on systems that can't boot from dvds/floppies? I'm basically working from this guide: http://www.dl4all.com/other/21495-install-windows-xp-from-usb.html Update - 2/15/10 I used WinToFlash on my laptop to format my usb hard drive from my install dvd (Windows XP Media Center Version 2005 with Update Rollup 2 from Dell) and selected "boot from usb device" at the boot selection menu and the windows installer started up. However, an error message came up saying that: "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer." Originally on my desktop machine, I had 1 150Gb SATA drive, and 2 150 Gb SATA drives striped together using RAID. From the hard drive diagnostics, it appears the windows install on one of the RAIDed disks lost a block and this has been preventing me from booting up. I replaced the standalone drive with a new 1Tb SATA drive and disconnected the other hard drives. Could the message be indicating a virus is on the unformatted drive? or the usb hard drive? Update 2 - 2/15/10 The external hard drive didn't find any viruses when scanned. I tried installing Vista Home Premium 64bit SP1 using WinToFlash and that installed successfully onto the new 1Tb drive. WinToFlash was really easy to use and helped a lot, thanks!

  I am trying to install Oracle Client 11.1.0.7 on a Windows Server 2008 64-bit. To some this might not be rocket science but I can't understand what the options under the install screen "Specify Home Details" mean. The defaults given suggest that I use Oracle Base and install software under my own account name. It also suggests that each user should have a separate Oracle Base. This seems counter intuitive to me. I am doing a server install after all. All I want to use the installation for is to connect to an Oracle Database from Reporting Services. Can I safely ignore this and just accept the defaults? What are the implications if I change the location to a common directory?

• Can I use the Airport Express as a an uplink between two networks?

  I have two separate networks using different IP ranges, 192.168.0.* for the wired only, isolated network and 192.160.1.* for the wireless only network which is connected to the internet. The wired network has a network printer setup and working and I want to be able to share it out to members of the wireless network (see diagram below). In short I need some kind of uplink between the two networks. Currently running a cable is out since there is no suitable route. I have a spare Airport Express and I am wondering if I could attach it to the wired network and have it join the wireless and act as the uplink between the two. Anyone know if the device is capable of this?

To install i try this command: /<matlab_installation_file_directory>/install and it says: install: missing file operand According to it's manual i must give it an input file, So i create an input file like this to install in 'Stand Alone' mode: destinationFolder=usr/local/R2012a fileInstallationKey=xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx agreeToLicense=yes outputFile=/tmp/mathworks_usr.log mode=interactive activationPropertiesFile=home/.../lic_standalone.dat Acctually i'm not sure in "activationPropertiesFile" field what file is required, so i supposed it requires license file. I saved this file as txt format in the same directory which installation files are. Then i tried this command: install -inputFile my_input_file.txt and it gets this error: install: invalid option -- 'i' I know there is some helps in other websites and also some questions here about this topic, but i can't figure out what's the problem, Please help me, i'm a real noob on linux .   I am looking for a simple way to install a mail server on my Ubuntu server. I would like to be able to receive and send emails though a webmail (e.g. roundcube). I have a domain name. The web server already works without any problem. When I googled "simple method to install mail server on Ubuntu", I arrive on blogs with literally hundreds of steps to install a mail server: A Mailserver on Ubuntu 12.04: Postfix, Dovecot, MySQL Creating a Mail Server on Ubuntu Postfix But, for sure I will make a mistake, if I follow those tutorials, and it will be very very time consuming. Most of the steps look very easy to automate, though. I've try several install methods: sudo apt-get install dovecot-postfix sudo tasksel install mail-server But from there, I have no idea how to add email accounts, and test if it actually works. Do you know if there is an automated way to install a mail server?

• NVIDIA 560 TI driver install ubuntu 14.04 leads to "missing on display" error

  Currently on my Ubuntu 14.04 install, I boot it up install the latest updates and attempt to install the NVIDIA drivers from xorg-edgers while following the top answer on this post Installing Nvidia Drivers It installs 304 for my card and when I check the "glxinfo | grep OpenGL" I have about 8 lines that read Xlib: extension "NV-GLX" missing on display ":0". I did the "sudo apt-get install nvidia-current" to get the latest. I install it but didn't see any errors in the terminal. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I'm not a complete beginner with Linux so I can find my way around just fine but I can't find a solution to this issue. Should I have done one of these two instead? sudo apt-get install nvidia-304 sudo apt-get install nvidia-graphics-drivers-304

• How to I compile uget from source?

  I've downlaoded uget from its source fourge link. It is a tar.gz file. I have read that i could install a file of this type by extractingits contents and following these steps. ./configure make install But, when I give ./configure checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c checking whether build environment is sane - configure error Am i following the steps? What am I missing? I know the easiest way is to do sudo apt-get install uget But i want to know the reason for its failure. Thanks for your help

• How to invoke make install for one subdirectory of Qt project

  I'm working on custom library and I wish users could just use it by adding: CONFIG += mylib to their pro files. This can be done by installing mylib.prf file to %QTDIR%/mkspec/features. I've checked out in Qt Mobility project how to create and install such file, but there is one thing I'd like to do differently. If I correctly understood the pro/pri files of Qt Mobility, inside the example projects they don't really use CONFIG += mobility, instead they add QtMobility sources to include path and share the *.obj directory with main library project. For my library I'd like to have examples that are as independent projects as possible, i.e. projects that can be compiled from anywhere once MyLib is compiled and installed. I have following directory structure: mylib | |- examples |- src |- tests \- mylib.pro It seems that the easiest way to achieve what I described above is creating mylib.pro like this: TEMPLATE = subdirs SUBDIRS += src SUBDIRS += examples tests:SUBDIRS += tests And somehow enforce invoking "cd src && make install" after building src. What is the best way to do this? Of course any other suggestions for automatic library deployment before examples compilation are welcome.

  Hi, I want track install referer for my application using google analytics. I don't want use the Tracking Pageviews and Events feature, only install. So I added the sdk jar in my app, add these lines to the manifest : <receiver android:name="com.google.android.apps.analytics.AnalyticsReceiver" android:exported="true"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="com.android.vending.INSTALL_REFERRER" /> </intent-filter> </receiver> And publish the app. But how can see the stats ? I never entered my UA-xxxxxxx id. For the Pageviews and Events tracking it's here : tracker.start("UA-YOUR-ACCOUNT-HERE", this); But as thew readme says : (NOTE: do not start the GoogleAnalyticsTracker in your Application onCreate() method if using referral tracking). But with referer where do I put my id ? And what is the url to watch in the google analytics console ? Thx
