  • Recursively move files in sub-dirs to new sub-dirs of same name

    I have a batch of files all ending with the same string, ie: *_ext.dat located in several sub-dirs along with several other files, in a given main dir. This is the structure: /main_dir/subdir1/file11_ext.dat /main_dir/subdir1/file12_ext.dat /main_dir/subdir1/file13_ext.dat /main_dir/subdir1/file14_other.dat /main_dir/subdir1/file15_other.dat /main_dir/subdir2/file21_ext.dat /main_dir/subdir2/file22_ext.dat /main_dir/subdir2/file23_ext.dat /main_dir/subdir2/file24_other.dat /main_dir/subdir2/file25_other.dat /main_dir/subdir3/file31_ext.dat /main_dir/subdir3/file32_ext.dat /main_dir/subdir3/file33_ext.dat /main_dir/subdir3/file34_other.dat /main_dir/subdir3/file35_other.dat I need to recursively move only the files ending in *_ext.dat into a new main dir, new_dir, respecting the sub-dir structure so the files will end up in an equivalent dir structure like this: /new_dir/subdir1/file11_ext.dat /new_dir/subdir1/file12_ext.dat /new_dir/subdir1/file13_ext.dat /new_dir/subdir2/file21_ext.dat /new_dir/subdir2/file22_ext.dat /new_dir/subdir2/file23_ext.dat /new_dir/subdir3/file31_ext.dat /new_dir/subdir3/file32_ext.dat /new_dir/subdir3/file33_ext.dat Because of this the command should also create those sub-dirs with their corresponding names. I know that with a line like this one: find . -name "*_ext.dat" -print0 | xargs -0 rm -rf I can delete all those files, but I don't know how to modify it to do what I need (or if it is even possible).

  • Reporting Services 2008 R2 export to PDF embedded fonts not shown

    Hi, I have installed a font on the server that hosts Reporting Services 2008 R2, after that I've restarted the SSRS service, and sucessfully deployed a report with a custom font. I can see it using the font on the web, when I export it to Excel, however on PDF the font is not visible. If I click on File - Properties - Fonts. I'm presented with a screen that shows me a list of fonts on the PDF. There's an a icon with Helvetica-BoldOblique Type: Type 1 Encoding: Ansi Actual Font: Arial-BoldItalicMT Actual Font Type: TrueType The second one is a double T icon with the font I'm using and a (Embedded Subset) sufix. Its a True Type font and ANSI encoded. However the text is not using this embeded font, If I select the text and copy to a word document (I have the font installed) I can see the text in the font, however not on PDF, what's wrong here?

  • Re-deploy only the reports on SCOM Management Packs

    I've migrated Reporting Services on a SCOM 2007 R2 install, and noticed that the reports have not being copied. I can create a new report, but the ones I've had because of the management packs are gone. I've tried re-applying the Management Packs however it doesn't re-deploy them and when I try to access for example: Monitoring - Microsoft Windows Print Server - Microsoft Windows Server 2000 and 2003 Print Services - State View - select any item and click Alerts on the right menu. I get the following error: Date: 12/24/2010 12:40:35 PM Application: System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 Application Version: 6.1.7221.0 Severity: Error Message: Cannot initialize report. Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportServerException: The item '/Microsoft.SystemCenter.DataWarehouse.Report.Library/Microsoft.SystemCenter.DataWarehouse.Report.Alert' cannot be found. (rsItemNotFound) at Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ServerReport.GetExecutionInfo() at Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ServerReport.GetParameters() at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Mom.Internal.UI.Reporting.Parameters.ReportParameterBlock.Initialize(ServerReport serverReport) at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Mom.Internal.UI.Console.ReportForm.SetReportJob(Object sender, ConsoleJobEventArgs args) The report doesn't exist on the reporting services side. how do I re-deploy this reports?     Hello, I am using Debian Linux 5.0 with Webmin and Virtualmin. Everything works fine except the BIND DNS Server. It says Failed to start BIND : Unknown error. Any ideas?     Hi all. I'm trying to find a way to check the existence of a shell command before its execution. For example, I'll execute the command ack-grep. So, I'm trying to do: import subprocess from subprocess import PIPE cmd_grep = subprocess.Popen(["ack-grep", "--no-color", "--max-count=1", "--no-group", "def run_main", "../cgedit/"], stdout=PIPE, stderr=PIPE) Than, if I execute cmd_grep.stderr.read() I receive '' like the output. But I don't have the command ack-grep on my path. So, why Popen is not putting the error message on my .stderr variable? Also, is there a easyer way to do what I'm trying to do?

  • What is the most suitable way to manage iSCSI storage for Virtual Environments?

    We are planning to place a HP MSA P2000 with two FC/iSCSI controllers in our network. We have two options to provide more storage to Virtual Machines (We are running Hyper-V): A) Add iSCSI targets to the Virtual Hosts and then create VHD that we would add to each guest server. B) Directly add iSCSI targets in each guest server. Just wondering if one of those options is better than the other, and which is the common practice in a virtualized environment.   • How to find process that's using 100% of CPU

    As i'm looking at htop and top i see that my processor usage is 100% allways. But i can not see any process that is using that much CPU. Htop shows me only 1-2 processes that use around 5% cpu time. Is there a way to find the processes that use that much cpu time?   • How to shuffle pieces of large video files?

    Hi Folks, For a party we want to show film-fragments using a projector. We have around 50 full-length movie avis and would like to shuffle them in shorter pieces. So every ca. 2-5 minutes another piece should begin. For example a sequence could be: Movie05-12m00s-14m30s, Movie08-55m50s-57m00s, Movie02-02m42s-06m40s, etc. So, random movies, at random positions within the movie of random lengths. What would be the kind of solution we're looking for? We were thinking 2 scenarios: Before doing this use some kind of tool to cut all avis in smaller pieces and put them on shuffle in a regular media player A sort of "VJ" program that can do this shuffle mixing realtime. Any suggestions for any of the above scenarios? Thanks!

I have found many scripts and ideas to effect this but I require that it's not be a "drop-in" replacement, as in it must work globally for any possibly directory from one codebase.   • Apache + Bind Problems

    Hello, I am using VirtualMin on Debian-50-lenny-64-LAMP (Debian Linux 5.0). I've upgraded some packages including "bind". Since the upgrade, both Apache and Bind stopped working. Here's the errors I get: Blockquote Starting web server: apache2apache2: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 78.46.92.11 for ServerName (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:80 (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80 no listening sockets available, shutting down Unable to open logs failed! and Failed to start BIND : Unknown error I am sure that some files were changed after the upgrade and this is a simple problems to solve, but unfortunately, it's the first time I am in this situation and I just couldn't find a solution. I've Googled about the errors but still couldn't make it work. Now I am sorry I did the update. I usually make updates to have the latest versions of the packages that are installed in the server. Any ideas?

  • On Windows 7, how can I make the Start Menu search feature include matches from within words, not just the start of the word?

    I have a program installed called WinSCP. When I press the Windows key and type "SCP", I get "No items match your search." Is there a configuration option I can set somewhere, so that this item will be found? I'm not looking for a specific solution for this particular program, but something general, so that if there's a program named XYZ, I can find it via the Start Menu search by entering YZ. EDIT TO ADD: I'm looking for a "set-it and forget-it" type of configuration change, so that within-word searching happens always, automatically. I don't want to have to type a * before every query. Apparently this wasn't clear from what I wrote above.

  • How do I batch-downsize images on linux, while keeping small images small?

    I have a whole lot of photos and it's time to clean up the mess and free some disk space. I know mogrify is great to batch-resize things down. The problem is, in some directories I have small images mixed with the big ones. I'd like to batch-downsize all the big one but not upsize the small ones. As an example, I have a rep with tens of MBs-pictures in the 3000x2000s. Some of them I have already downsized so I could email them. They may be 1024x768. I'd like to downsize the big ones to 1600x1200, a disk-space-to-quality tradeoff I like. But then, with mogrify or convert, the small ones will be upsized, which would be a waste of disk space. I found some tricky ways to use identify with cut and some scripting to filter the small pics out and mogrify the others, but man, there's got a way to tell mogrify not to upsize my pics... How ? Is there some other tool better suited ?

  • Upgrade a legacy, expired RHEL 3.4.6 server to modern Centos/Scientific Linux

    I have a machine running a legacy J2EE app. The code is not Maven-ized and it works with pretty old Java and Postgres versions. I have converted it to a VM in ESXI and I'd like to try to upgrade it to a modern, binary-compatible version of RHEL (Centos or Scientific LInux) and see if things would still work. Where should I start? Am I being too optimistic with this one? It's more of an experiment and I'm not doing it on a production machine. But given the OS is pretty old I am looking for a way to do this eventually. Many thanks

  • Second monitor not detected

    Hi I have two VGA monitors, my GPU is ATI PowerColor 6850 which has two DVI slots, I use adapters for both VGA monitors. If I connect any the two monitors in the first slot it will work right away (along the plugin confirmation sound). And if I connect any of both monitors to the second slot I won't get anything, nor a signal or confirmation sound. I also tried auto detecting via Catalyst Control Center and Windows Desktop Resolution. I have the latest drivers installed. EDIT: I found this on the Spec Description: Display Connectors DL-DVI-I/SL-DVI-D And in NewEgg: 2 x DVI (1 Single Link, 1 Dual Link) Could this have anything to do with my issue?

  • Retrieve malicious IP addresses from Apache logs and block them with iptables

    Im trying to keep away some attackers that try to exploit XSS vulnerabilities from my website, I have found that most of the malicious attempts start with a classic "alert(document.cookie);\" test. The site is not vulnerable to XSS but I want to block the offending IP addresses before they found a real vulnerability, also, to keep the logs clean. My first thought is to have a script constantly checking in the Apache logs all IP addresses that start with that probe and send those addresses to an iptables drop rule. With something like this: cat /var/log/httpd/-access_log | grep "alert(document.cookie);" | awk '{print $1}' | uniq Why would be an effective way to send the output of that command to iptables?   • How to route traffic through a VPN tunnel?

    The problem with our server is that we need to use the bug ridden and awful AT&T network client, which causes our server to bluescreen once per 24 hours. Does any one know how to (or has a good guide) quickly set up a workstation running Windows server 2008 R2 as a proxy server. So this spare workstation would run AT&T and would act as a bridge between our server and the server that can be connected to only via the AT&T VPN software. And this way our own production server would not crash so often (or not at all) and the workstation can happily crash whenever it wants to.

  • In Open Calc, how do I copy a paste cells that contain references to other workbooks?

    I have an OpenOffice Calc sheet with cells containing formulas that refer to another file, e.g: 'file:///C:/path/to/other.xls'#$Sheet1.A1:B2. Note: When I copy the cells from one sheet to another in the same workbookt, it works as expected. When I copy this to a sheet in another workbook, the references are lost and all is left is ''#$Sheet1.A1:B2. I could copy/paste the cell's contents, but that would be fastidious, error-prone, and anyhow not a good solution. How do I keep the external references when copy-pasting from one workbook to another ?

  • Recreate/Regenerate vhost config in cpanel for one account

    So my boss as allways was messing with cpanel on our production server (we only have production servers, which is bad enough)... so now all of the accounts is pointing to the default apache page in /usr/local/apache/htdocs instead of /home/useracc/public_html. Is there a way how to tell cpanel/WHM to recreate the vhost configuration of the account from scratch? the account has a database and emails associated with them so before i do anything i don't want to mess anything up with cpanel.

  • Use old raid drive as boot device without data loss

    There were two disks in sw-raid. There were /dev/md1 as swap, /dev/md2 as boot and a /dev/md3 with ext4. The sw-raid was disabled by stopping and removing mdadm and then zeroing the superblock on each /dev/mdX partition with: sudo mdadm --zero-superblock /dev/sda1 sudo mdadm --zero-superblock /dev/sda2 sudo mdadm --zero-superblock /dev/sda3 In the disk that is the first boot device, I don't know if it's relevant, the system type of each partition was set back from fd to 82 or 83 with fdisk, /etc/fstab was updated, changing /dev/mdX to /dev/sdaX, and grub was reinstalled on the boot partition (/dev/sda2) with grub-instal. But the system wont boot. What else should I do to use this disk as the boot device without reinstall or data loss? Current output of fdisk Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 2048 33556480 16777216+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris /dev/sda2 * 33558528 34607104 524288+ 83 Linux /dev/sda3 34609152 3907027120 1936208984+ 83 Linux With it doesn't boot I mean that it stops in the grub console (with the grub> symbol).   • WebBrowser Control in ATL window. How to free up memory on window unload? I'm stuck.

    Hello there. I have a Win32 C++ Application. There is the _tWinMain(...) Method with GetMessage(...) in a while loop at the end. Before GetMessage(...) I create the main window with HWND m_MainHwnd = CreateWindowExW(WS_EX_TOOLWINDOW | WS_EX_LAYERED, CAxWindow::GetWndClassName(), _TEXT("http://www.-website-.com"), WS_POPUP, 0, 0, 1024, 768, NULL, NULL, m_Instance, NULL); ShowWindow(m_MainHwnd) If I do not create the main window, my application needs about 150K in memory. But with creating the main window with the WebBrowser Control inside, the memory usage increases to 8500K. But, I want to dynamically unload the main window. My _tWinMain(...) keeps running! Im unloading with DestroyWindow(m_MainHwnd) But the WebBrowser control won't unload and free up it's memory used! Application memory used is still 8500K! I can also get the WebBrowser Instance or with some additional code the WebBrowser HWND IWebBrowser2* m_pWebBrowser2; CAxWindow wnd = (CAxWindow)m_MainHwnd; HRESULT hRet = wnd.QueryControl(IID_IWebBrowser2, (void**)&m_pWebBrowser2); So I tried to free up the memory used by main window and WebBrowser control with (let's say it's experimental): if(m_pWebBrowser2) m_pWebBrowser2->Release(); DestroyWindow(m_hwndWebBrowser); //<-- just analogous OleUninitialize(); No success at all. I also created a wrapper class which creates the main window. I created a pointer and freed it up with delete: Wrapper* wrapper = new Wrapper(); //wrapper creates main window inside and shows it //...do some stuff delete(wrapper); No success. Still 8500K. So please, how can I get rid of the main window and it's WebBrowser control and free up the memory, returning to about 150K. Later I will recreate the window. It's a dynamically load and unload of the main window, depending on other commands. Thanks! Regards Martin

  • Is it possible to change HANDLE that has been opened for synchronous I/O to be opened for asynchrono

    Dear all, Most of my daily programming work in Windows is nowadays around I/O operations of all kind (pipes, consoles, files, sockets, ...). I am well aware of different methods of reading and writing from/to different kinds of handles (Synchronous, asynchronous waiting for completion on events, waiting on file HANDLEs, I/O completion ports, and alertable I/O). We use many of those. For some of our applications it would be very useful to have only one way to treat all handles. I mean, the program may not know, what kind of handle it has received and we would like to use, let's say, I/O completion ports for all. So first I would ask: Let's assume I have a handle: HANDLE h; which has been received by my process for I/O from somewhere. Is there any easy and reliable way to find out what flags it has been created with? The main flag in question is FILE_FLAG_OVERLAPPED. The only way known to me so far, is to try to register such handle into I/O completion port (using CreateIoCompletionPort()). If that succeeds the handle has been created with FILE_FLAG_OVERLAPPED. But then only I/O completion port must be used, as the handle can not be unregistered from it without closing the HANDLE h itself. Providing there is an easy a way to determine presence of FILE_FLAG_OVERLAPPED, there would come my second question: Is there any way how to add such flag to already existing handle? That would make a handle that has been originally open for synchronous operations to be open for asynchronous. Would there be a way how to create opposite (remove the FILE_FLAG_OVERLAPPED to create synchronous handle from asynchronous)? I have not found any direct way after reading through MSDN and googling a lot. Would there be at least some trick that could do the same? Like re-creating the handle in same way using CreateFile() function or something similar? Something even partly documented or not documented at all? The main place where I would need this, is to determine the the way (or change the way) process should read/write from handles sent to it by third party applications.   • How to integrate Purify into Hudson CI?

    Hello everybody! I have a Hudson CI system set up and for the moment it is used for building a project and running some unit tests. My next step is to integrate the memory leak detector Purify into the build cycle. Now I want to start the unit tests also inside purify and for this I have created a new batch task which runs following command: purify.exe /SaveTextData MyExecutable.exe --test TestLibrary.dll --output xml As I read in the Purify documentation the /SaveTextData option is used in order to run purify not in GUI mode. If I run this command on my local workstation in the command line it works perfectly. But in case it is started by Hudson, nothing happens. Unfortunetly there are no logs of purify... Has someone ever tried to start purify either by Hudson or any other CI system? Thanks in advance. Best regards Martin EDIT: I forgot to tell you, that I have Hudson running as master and slave on different computers. On the master I have configured a task which should start the unit tests within purify on the slave. I am running the slave via JNLP. EDIT 18.03.2010: Ok, so finally I am a bit closer the source of the problem. I have discovered, that running my unit tests in purify locally the log file EngineCmdLine.log contains three commands.
