So, for example, MySolution would be built before scribble. However, is this safe if scribble is dependant on MySolution? If MySolution and scribble are changed simultaneously, will the build wait for MySolution to be completely compiled before moving to the next project?

  We're parsing an XML document using JAXB and get this error: [org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Invalid byte 1 of 1-byte UTF-8 sequence.] at javax.xml.bind.helpers.AbstractUnmarshallerImpl.createUnmarshalException(AbstractUnmarshallerImpl.java:315) What exactly does this mean and how can we resolve this?? We are executing the code as: jaxbContext = JAXBContext.newInstance(Results.class); Unmarshaller unmarshaller = jaxbContext.createUnmarshaller(); unmarshaller.setSchema(getSchema()); results = (Results) unmarshaller.unmarshal(new FileInputStream(inputFile)); Update Issue appears to be due to this "funny" character in the XML file: ¿ Why would this cause such a problem??

• BioPython: extracting sequence IDs from a Blast output file

  Hi, I have a BLAST output file in XML format. It is 22 query sequences with 50 hits reported from each sequence. And I want to extract all the 50x22 hits. This is the code I currently have, but it only extracts the 50 hits from the first query. from Bio.Blast import NCBIXM blast_records = NCBIXML.parse(result_handle) blast_record = blast_records.next() save_file = open("/Users/jonbra/Desktop/my_fasta_seq.fasta", 'w') for alignment in blast_record.alignments: for hsp in alignment.hsps: save_file.write('>%s\n' % (alignment.title,)) save_file.close() Somebody have any suggestions as to extract all the hits? • ruby 1.9: invalid byte sequence in UTF-8

  I'm writing a crawler in ruby (1.9) that consumes lots of HTML from a lot of random sites. When trying to extract links, I decided to just use .scan(/href="(.*?)"/i) instead of nokogiri/hpricot (major speedup). The problem is that I now receive a lot of "invalid byte sequence in UTF-8" errors. From what I understood, the net/http library doesn't have any encoding specific options and the stuff that comes in is basically not properly tagged. What would be the best way to actually work with that incoming data? I tried .encode with the replace and invalid options set, but no success so far...

• SharpSSH gets stuck in an infinite stream read in C# SSH app

However, when the while-loop gets stepped into, it won't break out of the loop when everything has been printed to the console and there is nothing else to read. The Help says: "You tried to link a Paradox table that was created with an international sort order that is not the same as the one you are using". What am I doing wrong? • Detecting Infinite recursion in Python or dynamic languages

  Recently I tried compiling program something like this with GCC: int f(int i){ if(i<0){ return 0;} return f(i-1); and it ran just fine. When I inspected the stack frames the compiler optimized the program to use only one frame, by just jumping back to the beginning of the function and only replacing the arguments to f. And - the compiler wasn't even running in optimized mode. Now, when I try the same thing in Python - I hit maximum recursion wall (or stack overflow). Is there way that a dynamic language like python can take advantage of these nice optimizations? Maybe it's possible to use a compiler instead of an interpreter to make this work? Just curious!

• Tiling solution for the iPhone that can handle infinite # of tiles

  I have been looking at ways to implement a tiling solution on the iPhone/iPad similar to something like Google Maps. I have looked at examples of how to implement a CATiledLayer into a view that is inside a UIScrollView. Then when you scroll the view, the tiles request the new data to be shown. However, this seems to work when you have a finite view size (ie: 3000x3000). However, how could I work this into a tiling solution for much larger sizes. Basically, I want to be able to show data as needed for tiles as large as I can. Can I somehow use CATiledLayer to do this? Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

  Hi all My Delphi app has created a squence called frame_001.png to frame_100.png. I need that to be compiled into a movie clip. I think perhaps the easiest is to call ffmpeg from the command line, according to their documentation: For creating a video from many images: ffmpeg -f image2 -i foo-%03d.jpeg -r 12 -s WxH foo.avi The syntax foo-%03d.jpeg specifies to use a decimal number composed of three digits padded with zeroes to express the sequence number. It is the same syntax supported by the C printf function, but only formats accepting a normal integer are suitable. My command line is now: ffmpeg.exe -f image2 -i c:\temp\wentelreader\frame_%05d.jpg -r 12 foo.avi But then I get the error: [image2 @ 0x133a7d0]Could not find codec parameters (Video: mjpeg) c:\temp\wentelreader\Frame_C:\VID2EVA\Tools\Mencoder\wentel.bat5d.jpg: could not find codec parameters What am I doing wrong? Alternatively can this be done easily with Delphi?

  I have a GUI tool that manages state sequences. One component is a class that contains a set of states, your typical DFA state machine. For now, I'll call this a StateSet. However, I have another class that has a collection (possibly partially unordered) of those state sets, and lists them in a particular order. and I'm trying to come up with a good name for it - not just for internal code, but for customers to refer to it. I've got: Sequence (maybe) StateSetSet (reasonable for code, but not for customers) Any other suggestions or ideas?

• MS SQL replace sequence of same characters inside Text Field (TSQL only)

  I have a text column varchar(4000) with text: 'aaabbaaacbaaaccc' and I need to remove all duplicated chars - so only one from sequence left: 'abacbac' It should not be a function, Procedure or CLR - Regex solution. Only true SQL select. Currently I think about using recursive WITH clause with replace 'aa'-'a', 'bb'-'b', 'cc'-'c'. So recursion should cycle until all duplicated sequences of that chars would be replaced. DO you have another solution, perhaps more Permormant one? PS: I searched through this site about different replace examples - they didnt suit to this case.

  I am doing the Project Euler challenge in Clojure and I want to find the sum of all the even numbers in a fibonacci sequence up to a certain number. The code for a function that does this is below. I know there are quicker and easier ways of doing this, I am just experimenting with recursion using loop and recur. However the code doesn't seem to work it never returns an answer. (defn fib-even-sum [upto] (loop [previous 1 nxt 1 sum 0] (if (or (<= upto 1) (>= nxt upto)) sum) (if (= (mod nxt 2) 0) (recur nxt (+ previous nxt) (+ sum nxt)) (recur nxt (+ previous nxt) sum)))) I was not sure if I could do recur twice in the same loop or not. I'm not sure if this is causing the problem?

  I have some servlets that act as individual URLs for populating a database for some dummy testing. • Winsock WSAAsyncSelect sending without an infinite buffer

  Hi, This is more of a design question than a specific code question, I'm sure I am missing the obvious, I just need another set of eyes. I am writing a multi-client server based on WSAAsyncSelect, each connection is made into an object of a connection class I have written which contains associated settings and buffers etc. My question concerns FD_WRITE, I understand how it operates: One FD_WRITE is sent immediately after a connection is established. Thereafter, you should send until WSAEWOULDBLOCK is received at which point you store what is left to send in a buffer, and wait to be told that it is ok to send again. This is where I have a problem, how large do I make this holding buffer within each connections object? The amount of time until a new FD_WRITE is received is unknown, I could be attempting to send a lot of stuff during this period, all the time adding to my outgoing buffer. If I make the buffer dynamic, memory usage could spiral out of control if for whatever reason, I am unable to send() and reduce the buffer. So my question is how do you generally handle this situation? Note I am not talking about the network buffer itself which winsock uses, but one of my own creation used to "queue" up sends. • Win7 System folder contains infinitely looping SYSTEM(!) directory

  My Windows 7 Enterprise computer has been crashing fairly frequently recently, so I decided to boot up in safe mode and run the TrendMicro client I have installed. It froze about 10 minutes into the full system scan, so in the spirit of http://whathaveyoutried.com, I started scanning each folder individually. When I got to ProgramData, the AV failed with an uncaught exception. I then went down a level and tried scanning Application Data, which failed as well. Imagine my surprise when I open the folder just to see the same folder again! As far as I can tell, this folder loop continues indefinitely. (If you are trying to recreate this, keep in mind that ProgramData is a hidden folder.) I'm actually a bit concerned that these are system folders, as this is a brand-new computer with a clean installation. I guess I have three questions: Has anyone else seen/experienced this before? I'm running Win7 SP1. How do I fix this? I've run CHKDSK \F with no success (although it was incredibly slow). What are the ramifications of an infinitely recursive directory? Theoretically speaking, each link takes up memory, so shouldn't I have no space available on my hard drive? (I've got about 180GB left.) I noticed that the tree view on the left only shows the "linked folder" icon on the deeper folders--does this mean anything special? (I've circled the icons or lack thereof in red.) How can the OS even resolve this aberration? And above all, what would happen if I were to select "Expand all folders"??? :P Matt

• Drupal and Login Toboggan -- infinite redirect loop

  I'm getting a redirect loop when using Login Toboggan. It doesn't happen all of the time and I think I've narrowed it down to something with the session, specifically the active-tabs[last-active-href] value. Since it's intermittent, I was able to print out a session of a working copy and a non-working copy. Here are both: WORKS -- Array ( [active-tabs] = Array ( [last-active-href] = index ) ) toboggan/denied DOESN'T WORK -- Array ( [active-tabs] = Array ( [last-active-href] = user/register [user] = user/register ) [wantsEvents] = [wantsResources] = [wantsSupport] = ) toboggan/denied I've also noticed that if I comment out the following line the redirection loop stops (although no page loads): $return = menu_execute_active_handler('user/register'); Any ideas? I'm at my wits end.

• InvalidOperationException sequence contains more than one element even when only one element

  I have three tables, tblCompany table, tblParts table and a link table between them tblLinkCompanyParts. Since tblLinkCompanyParts is a link table so the columns that it has are LinkCompanyPartID(primary key), CompanyID from tblCompany table and PartID from tblParts as foreign keys. I have tied them up in the dbml file. In code if I write LinkCompanyParts.Parts (where LinkCompanyParts is an object of the tblLinkCompanyParts type) to get to the corresponding Part object I get the "InvalidOperationException: Sequence constains more than one element". I have looked at the data in the database and there is only one Parts record associated with the LinkCompanyPartID. The stack trace reads like at System.Linq.Enumerable.SingleOrDefault[TSource](IEnumerable`1 source) at System.Data.Linq.EntityRef`1.get_Entity() at ... I read about SingleOrDefault vs FirstOrDefault but since the link table should have a one-one mapping therefore I think SingleOrDefault should work and besides "SingleOrDefault" statement is being generated behind the scenes in the designer.cs file at the following line return this._Part.Entity; Any ideas?

Rewrite the same code in C++ and Java and compare the results. I have written code, and played with it in all three languages but I can not even get it to compile. This includes declaring x above the three lines as well as in the calling function (as this question is obviously attempting to illustrate scoping issues) I'd like to explain the results and do the comparisons on my own, as it is an assignment question but I was wondering if anyone had any insight as to how to get this code to compile?
