• Basic Java drawing program: issue with squares

  I'm trying to create a simple drawing program that creates a square where the user clicks and drags. The square displays correctly as long as either x or y remain positive with respect to the original click position. If both x and y are negative with respect to the original click position, the square grows/shrinks, but also wanders about the screen. Is there a way to swap the origin point from top-left to bottom-right or to keep the square from wandering?

• Problems with Program startup in WIn 7 this week

  I have a program (ISYS) that I have been using since 2006. It migrated successfully to Windows 7. Just yesterday it started manifesting this strange behavior. The program has a selector to allow you to select a directory that might have relevant files for the program. As of yesterday the program will only let me select folders on the C drive. For example I have a folder on D that I need to access with this program - from the GUI when I select the D drive the directory list does not load, instead it churns away using 17% of the CPU cycles. I have let it run for an hour several times. I have found that I can get the directory I want by using a batch file to start the program but this limits my ability to do certain things I really need to use the GUI. I did a number of reboots and other tests - I disconnected drives but once I try to select some directory on a drive other than C it churns away. I have experimented quite a bit and am convinced (which means I am wrong) that this has something to do with some setting change on my computer that I can't figure out as I don't see any updates. Since ISYS has not been updated I feel confident it is something internal. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

• Externally disabling signals for a Linux program.

  Hello, On Linux, is it possible to somehow disable signaling for programs externally... that is, without modifying their source code? Context: I'm calling a C (and also a Java) program from within a bash script on Linux. I don't want any interruptions for my bash script, and for the other programs that the script launches (as foreground processes). While I can use a... trap '' INT ... in my bash script to disable the Ctrl C signal, this works only when the program control happens to be in the bash code. That is, if I press Ctrl C while the C program is running, the C program gets interrupted and it exits! This C program is doing some critical operation because of which I don't want it be interrupted.   I have the following problem: I need to use XSLFO to generate a 2-column multipage document. Problem is: I need to have a vertical line between the 2 columns. Since XSLFO does not seem to specify a option for creating such a divider, I need to manually put it there. I was thinking of using a static rotated blockcontainer with a leader in it.   Hi, I've written a program in C++. It's just using the console to have it as portable as possible. Unfortunately, many Windows-Users seem not to understand how to use the program (Linux Users are just fine with it :) ). So I'd like to write a GUI for that program. As this needs to run on Windows only, I'd like to write it in C#. But I want to maintain the GUI apart from the original program. So basically, I need a way to include a compiled *.exe into another program. Is there a way to catch the console output from another program and send inputs to it? • OSB 11g & SAP – Single Channel/Program ID for Multiple IDOCs

  Background This note is a supplement to the blog entry, SOA 11g & SAP – Single Channel/Program ID for Multiple IDOCs by Greg Mally. Greg has shown how a single SOA Suite composite can be used with iWay Adapters to receive multiple IDOC types via a single channel in the adapter, corresponding to a single programID on the SAP system. We will try to address the same requirements within the OSB framework here. Project Built - Design Time The basic build of an OSB project with iWay SAP Adapter, as seen in another entry in this blog, consists of working in OSB Design console and Application Explorer. OSB Design Time - Part 1 We will create a placeholder project first in OSB with a proper directory structure, so that we can export the WSDL, XSD and the JCA binding information from Application Explorer directly into this project. Application Explorer - iWay Design Time Tool Receiving IDOCs is classified as an inbound event within Application Explorer. For setting up events, a channel is first defined (e.g. iDoc_Channel) using the same PROGRAMID (RFC destination), as defined within SAP for the OSB server. Next, the same channel is used to export the JCA Inbound Event artifacts for the candidate IDOC, e.g. DEBMAS06 directly to the pre-created OSB project. Note that the validation for schema has been turned off. As a result, this will allow the adapter, at runtime, to use a single channel to receive multiple IDOC types from SAP and pass them on to the OSB runtime engine without any validation. In other words, we do not have to repeat the above step for each IDOC type. OSB Design Time - Part 2 Create 2 simple XML based Business Services to write to a file, e.g.  SAP_DEBMAS_File and SAP_MATMAS_File. Next, generate a Proxy Service using the JCA binding file exported from Application Explorer in the previous section. In the generated proxy service, edit the message flow and add a route node. Add a routing table in the route node with the following routing function. fn:local-name-from-QName(fn:node-name($body/*[1])) This function takes advantage of the fact that the XML payload at runtime, after translation by adapter, has the IDOC type as the top element. With the routing function in place, build the routing table to add 2 branches to route the IDOCs to the appropriate Business Service for writing the XML payload to files in separate directories. This completes the build of the OSB project. Testing - Run-Time After deployment and activation, the SAP adapter will wait to receive multiple types of IDOCs sent from the SAP system using a single channel. Upon receipt of the IDOCs, the OSB project will route them appropriately to save the corresponding XML payloads for different IDOC types in different directories.

• How to program for constraints/rules

  First the background, during interviews in the past, many times I have been asked to design some or other variation of card game as programming puzzle, and I have tried to design it in OO way, but I have never been satisfied with my solutions. However it was not until recently that I realized that I had been approaching the problem from the wrong direction. Specifically I was trying to solve the problem by modeling individual card as an object. Problem with this is individual cards don't have any non-trivial intrinsic behavior and therefore are not suitable (or primary) candidate as objects. What is interesting and important about cards are rules and constraints, such as there could be only four suits, or only thirteen cards in each suit. Of course, then there are any number of rules for games. So my questions are Are there any idioms/constructs/patterns to program for rules & constraints. How many in 1 can be applied in conjunction with OO paradigm.

In Python, you write a few lines and the program does wonders. In C, I can't seem to be able to do anything useful. It seems to be very complicated to even connect to the Internet. • Apple Developer Enterprise Program?

  I'm building an iOS application for a client (not an enterprise but non-profit association with under than 500 employess), distributed in a free version and a "paid" one. The free version will be available with iTunes/AppStore, no problem with that. But about the paid one... the distribution my client wants is different. They want to distribute it to their clients as a bonus in their subscription, and so, to control this distribution. The first answer would be "iOS Developer Enterprise Program", but it's not an enterprise and have less than 500 employees. Will the fact that my client will distribute the app' with a subscription be a problem ? I spend a lot of time to read documentation, but it is not very clear. I'm a bit lost, I admit it. Any help would grateful.

• What program should i use for Ludum Dare?

  I want to participate for the first time on Ludum Dare, but i'm not confortable yet with a language to pick one for making a game on a weekend. So i was looking for a program 'gamemaker' style, just to make something for LD. I was going for Construct 2, but i use Linux and they don't have a linux version. So the alternative i use is Stencyl, witch is great and probably is what i'm going to use. However, i wanted to know if there is something similar and better for Linux. Also, if i get a computer with Win8, is it worth the trouble for Construct 2?

• LibreOffice: Open in current program by default?

  I often need to open pipe delimited .txt files in LibreOffice Calc. However, once I have Calc running, if I do File Open and select a spreadsheet with the extension .txt, it opens it in Writer instead. Is there a way to tell the file I'm trying to open using whatever program instead of trying to pick which one to use? Barring that, is there a way I tell it to always use Calc for .txt files (when I open them from the open dialog in Calc)? I still want them to open in GEdit like they currently do if I double click them from Thunar.
