    I have been learning C and C++ for sometime now. But, they do not allow me to do a lot of things like writing a script/program to get a bunch of files from the internet easily. So, I want to learn a scripting language which is fun and which is useful for everyday chores. Which one would you recommend, and why?   • Android Quick Actions UI Pattern

    I'm interesting in incorporating the Android UI pattern called "Quick Action". Basically, it's a context menu that doesn't cover up the data that is being acted on. I'd like to implement this but I cannot find an API to help me out or some sample code. Does anyone have an implementation of this or know what google's standard for adding this to an application?

    I'm working on installing django and running it on my system. I have a problem though, in this tutorial creating a project is explained by running the command django-admin.py startproject mysite My issue is that this doesn't work. I changed to the directory where django-admin.py is located and ran the command chmod +x django-admin.py with no results. I tried adding the directory with the file to my path without results. I ended up fixing my problem with this command python /location/of/django-admin.py startproject mysite which yielded the outcome I expected. My problem is: What do I need to change/configure such that command django-admin.py startproject mysite would be sufficient?   • Android 2.2 AVD: no Quick Search Box?

    I have recently updated my Android SDK to include support for Android 2.2 (API level 8). The app that I'm building integrates with the Quick Search Box (QSB) home screen widget, which I can't seem to find in this version (using both vanilla 2.2 and the Google APIs version). I was kind of excited when they announced that they have improved its functionality, but it seems there's no way for me to observe it. Is this normal? Are others experiencing the same issue? Or is this somehow related to my setup (running Archlinux and installed the Android SDK from the repositories).

For example, take a look at this code (gets in put from the user, checks it against the database to see if the username/password combination exist): $input['user'] = htmlentities($_POST['username'], ENT_QUOTES); $input['pass'] = htmlentities($_POST['password'], ENT_QUOTES); // query db if ($stmt = $mysqli->prepare("SELECT * FROM members WHERE username=? AND password = ?")) { $stmt->bind_param("ss", $input['user'], md5($input['pass'] . $config['salt'])); $stmt->execute(); $stmt->store_result(); // check if there is a match in the database for the user/password combination if ($stmt->num_rows > 0) {} } In this case, I am using htmlentities() on the form data, and using a MySQLi prepared statement. Do I still need to be using mysql_real_escape_string()?
