  • Windows Service HTTPListener Memory Issue

    - by crawshaws
    Hi all, Im a complete novice to the "best practices" etc of writing in any code. I tend to just write it an if it works, why fix it. Well, this way of working is landing me in some hot water. I am writing a simple windows service to server a single webpage. (This service will be incorperated in to another project which monitors the services and some folders on a group of servers.) My problem is that whenever a request is recieved, the memory usage jumps up by a few K per request and keeps qoing up on every request. Now ive found that by putting GC.Collect in the mix it stops at a certain number but im sure its not meant to be used this way. I was wondering if i am missing something or not doing something i should to free up memory. Here is the code: Public Class SimpleWebService : Inherits ServiceBase 'Set the values for the different event log types. Public Const EVENT_ERROR As Integer = 1 Public Const EVENT_WARNING As Integer = 2 Public Const EVENT_INFORMATION As Integer = 4 Public listenerThread As Thread Dim HTTPListner As HttpListener Dim blnKeepAlive As Boolean = True Shared Sub Main() Dim ServicesToRun As ServiceBase() ServicesToRun = New ServiceBase() {New SimpleWebService()} ServiceBase.Run(ServicesToRun) End Sub Protected Overrides Sub OnStart(ByVal args As String()) If Not HttpListener.IsSupported Then CreateEventLogEntry("Windows XP SP2, Server 2003, or higher is required to " & "use the HttpListener class.") Me.Stop() End If Try listenerThread = New Thread(AddressOf ListenForConnections) listenerThread.Start() Catch ex As Exception CreateEventLogEntry(ex.Message) End Try End Sub Protected Overrides Sub OnStop() blnKeepAlive = False End Sub Private Sub CreateEventLogEntry(ByRef strEventContent As String) Dim sSource As String Dim sLog As String sSource = "Service1" sLog = "Application" If Not EventLog.SourceExists(sSource) Then EventLog.CreateEventSource(sSource, sLog) End If Dim ELog As New EventLog(sLog, ".", sSource) ELog.WriteEntry(strEventContent) End Sub Public Sub ListenForConnections() HTTPListner = New HttpListener HTTPListner.Prefixes.Add("http://*:1986/") HTTPListner.Start() Do While blnKeepAlive Dim ctx As HttpListenerContext = HTTPListner.GetContext() Dim HandlerThread As Thread = New Thread(AddressOf ProcessRequest) HandlerThread.Start(ctx) HandlerThread = Nothing Loop HTTPListner.Stop() End Sub Private Sub ProcessRequest(ByVal ctx As HttpListenerContext) Dim sb As StringBuilder = New StringBuilder sb.Append("<html><body><h1>Test My Service</h1>") sb.Append("</body></html>") Dim buffer() As Byte = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(sb.ToString) ctx.Response.ContentLength64 = buffer.Length ctx.Response.OutputStream.Write(buffer, 0, buffer.Length) ctx.Response.OutputStream.Close() ctx.Response.Close() sb = Nothing buffer = Nothing ctx = Nothing 'This line seems to keep the mem leak down 'System.GC.Collect() End Sub End Class Please feel free to critisise and tear the code apart but please BE KIND. I have admitted I dont tend to follow the best practice when it comes to coding.

  • How to use Selenium Grid???

    - by user300591
    Hi All, I'm researching Selenium and have a seminar for my group... I meet many troubles with this I use C# language and write a demo SeleniumExample.dll Then i start selenium RC and NUnit and run it with nUnit to see the test report. I read testdata from xml. Here's the SeleniumExample.dll: using System; using System.Xml; using System.Text; using System.Text.RegularExpressions; using System.Threading; using NUnit.Framework; using Selenium; namespace SeleniumExample { public class Success_Login { //User defined private string strURL = "http://newtours.demoaut.com/ mercurywelcome.php"; private string[] strBrowser = new string[3] { "*iehta", "*firefox", "*safari" }; // System defined private ISelenium selenium; private StringBuilder verificationErrors ; [SetUp] public void SetupTest() { selenium = new DefaultSelenium("localhost", 4444, this.strBrowser[0], this.strURL); selenium.Start(); verificationErrors = new StringBuilder(); } [TearDown] public void TeardownTest() { try { selenium.Stop(); } catch (Exception) { // Ignore errors if unable to close the browser } Assert.AreEqual("", verificationErrors.ToString()); } [Test] public void Success_LoginTest() { try { XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument(); XmlNode docNode; doc.Load("XMLFile1.xml"); docNode = doc["TestCase"]; foreach (XmlNode node in docNode) { selenium.Open("/"); selenium.Type("userName", node["username"].InnerText); selenium.Type("password", node["password"].InnerText); selenium.Click("login"); selenium.WaitForPageToLoad("30000"); Assert.AreEqual("Find a Flight: Mercury Tours:", selenium.GetTitle()); } } catch (AssertionException e) { verificationErrors.Append(e.Message); } } } } Now I wan to have a demo that using Selenium Grid (SG) but i dont know how to do. I read document and understand the way SG works. I install SG and install Ant1.8. The tests will communicate with Selenium Hub. Actually, I just understand the theory i dont know how to make the tests communicate with Selenium Hub and how to make Selenium Hub control Selenium RC. I am a new for Selenium. If anyone know this, please help me. I appreciate it so much. THANKS, Hoang

    - by Yui
    Hi, I can launch some remote control by using: ant launch-remote-control but I dont know how my script connect to hub? I set up ant, selenium-grid on the same computer. I have an grid.dll which is written by C# and run through NUnit. The test data is read from xml file (ValidData.xml) The example code is below : using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System; using System.Xml; using System.Text.RegularExpressions; using System.Threading; using NUnit.Framework; using Selenium; namespace Grid { public class Class1 { //User defined private string strURL = "http://gmail.com/"; private string[] strBrowser = new string[3] { "*iehta", "*firefox", "*safari" }; string hubAddress = "192.168.20.131"; // IP of my computer // System defined private ISelenium selenium; private StringBuilder verificationErrors; [SetUp] public void SetupTest() { selenium = new DefaultSelenium(hubAddress, 4444, this.strBrowser[1], this.strURL);// do i need to identify browser when I defined it when launching a remote control selenium.Start(); verificationErrors = new StringBuilder(); } [TearDown] public void TeardownTest() { try { selenium.Stop(); } catch (Exception) { // Ignore errors if unable to close the browser } Assert.AreEqual("", verificationErrors.ToString()); } private string[] name; [Test] public void LoginPassedTest() { try { XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument(); XmlNode docNode; doc.Load("ValidData.xml"); docNode = doc["TestCase"]; foreach (XmlNode node in docNode) { selenium.Open("/"); selenium.WaitForPageToLoad("50000"); selenium.Type("Email", node["username"].InnerText); selenium.Type("Passwd", node["password"].InnerText); selenium.Click("signIn"); selenium.WaitForPageToLoad("100000"); name = (selenium.GetText("//div[@id='guser']/nobr/b").Split('@')); try { Assert.AreEqual(node["username"].InnerText, name[0]); Assert.AreEqual("Sign out", selenium.GetText(":r6")); } catch (AssertionException e) { verificationErrors.Append(e.Message); } selenium.Click(":r6"); } } catch (AssertionException e) { verificationErrors.Append(e.Message); } } } } Step I run this script: 1.I build that script into DLL 2.I start hub by using command "ant lauch-hub" 3.I start 2 remote controls by using command : ant -Dport=5566 -Denvironment="*chrome" launch-remote-control ant -Dport=5577 -Denvironment="*iexplore" launch-remote-control 4.Then I open Nunit and load DLL (code above) and run 5.The NUNit doesnot respond anything. I think there are some missing things but I dont know. How can the test script (DLL) know which is sequence of remote control is selected to run the test???? Please help me!! Thank you so much Yui.

  • Regex slow on Windows Server 2008

    - by pjmyburg
    Hi I have a situation where my regular expressions compile extremely slowly on Windows Server 2008. I wrote a small console application to highlight this issue. The app generates its own input and builds up a Regex from words in an XML file. I built a release version of this app and ran it both on my personal laptop (running XP) and the Windows 2008 server. The regular expression took 0.21 seconds to compile on my laptop, but 23 seconds to compile on the server. Any ideas what could be causing this? The problem is only on first use of the Regex (when it is first compiled - thereafter it is fine) I have also found another problem - when using \s+ in the regular expression on the same Windows 2008 server, the memory balloons (uses 4GB+) and the compilation of the Regex never finishes. Is there a known issue with Regex and 64 bit .net? Is there a fix/patch available for this? I cannot really find any info on the net, but I have found a few articles about this same issues in Framework 2.0 - surely this has been fixed by now? More info: The server is running the 64 bit version of the .net framework (3.5 SP1) and on my laptop I have Visual Studio 2008 and the 3.5 framework installed. The regular expression is of the following pattern: ^word$|^word$|^word$ and is constructed with the following flags: RegexOptions.IgnoreCase | RegexOptions.Compiled Edit: Here is a code snippet: StringBuilder regexString = new StringBuilder(); if (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(fileLocation)) { XmlTextReader textReader = new XmlTextReader(fileLocation); textReader.Read(); while (textReader.Read()) { textReader.MoveToElement(); if (textReader.Name == "word") { regexString.Append("^" + textReader.GetAttribute(0) + "$|"); } } ProfanityFilter = new Regex(regexString.ToString(0, regexString.Length - 1), RegexOptions.IgnoreCase | RegexOptions.Compiled); } DateTime time = DateTime.Now; Console.WriteLine("\nIsProfane:\n" + ProfanityFilter.IsMatch("test")); Console.WriteLine("\nTime: " + (DateTime.Now - time).TotalSeconds); Console.ReadKey(); This results in a time of 0.21 seconds on my laptop and 23 seconds on the 2008 server. The XML file consists of 168 words in the following format: <word text="test" />

  • C# Begin/EndReceive - how do I read large data?

    - by ryeguy
    When reading data in chunks of say, 1024, how do I continue to read from a socket that receives a message bigger than 1024 bytes until there is no data left? Should I just use BeginReceive to read a packet's length prefix only, and then once that is retrieved, use Receive() (in the async thread) to read the rest of the packet? Or is there another way? edit: I thought Jon Skeet's link had the solution, but there is a bit of a speedbump with that code. The code I used is: public class StateObject { public Socket workSocket = null; public const int BUFFER_SIZE = 1024; public byte[] buffer = new byte[BUFFER_SIZE]; public StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); } public static void Read_Callback(IAsyncResult ar) { StateObject so = (StateObject) ar.AsyncState; Socket s = so.workSocket; int read = s.EndReceive(ar); if (read > 0) { so.sb.Append(Encoding.ASCII.GetString(so.buffer, 0, read)); if (read == StateObject.BUFFER_SIZE) { s.BeginReceive(so.buffer, 0, StateObject.BUFFER_SIZE, 0, new AyncCallback(Async_Send_Receive.Read_Callback), so); return; } } if (so.sb.Length > 0) { //All of the data has been read, so displays it to the console string strContent; strContent = so.sb.ToString(); Console.WriteLine(String.Format("Read {0} byte from socket" + "data = {1} ", strContent.Length, strContent)); } s.Close(); } Now this corrected works fine most of the time, but it fails when the packet's size is a multiple of the buffer. The reason for this is if the buffer gets filled on a read it is assumed there is more data; but the same problem happens as before. A 2 byte buffer, for exmaple, gets filled twice on a 4 byte packet, and assumes there is more data. It then blocks because there is nothing left to read. The problem is that the receive function doesn't know when the end of the packet is. This got me thinking to two possible solutions: I could either have an end-of-packet delimiter or I could read the packet header to find the length and then receive exactly that amount (as I originally suggested). There's problems with each of these, though. I don't like the idea of using a delimiter, as a user could somehow work that into a packet in an input string from the app and screw it up. It also just seems kinda sloppy to me. The length header sounds ok, but I'm planning on using protocol buffers - I don't know the format of the data. Is there a length header? How many bytes is it? Would this be something I implement myself? Etc.. What should I do?

  • Connect MySQL database from Android

    - by Mistry Hardik
    hello people! well this is the code snippet i use to access the getUser.php to retrive user details from a MySQL database in my application: String result = ""; //the year data to send ArrayList<NameValuePair> nameValuePairs = new ArrayList<NameValuePair>(); nameValuePairs.add(new BasicNameValuePair("uid","demo")); //http post try{ HttpClient httpclient = new DefaultHttpClient(); HttpPost httppost = new HttpPost("http://192.xxx.xx.xxx/getUser.php"); httppost.setEntity(new UrlEncodedFormEntity(nameValuePairs)); HttpResponse response = httpclient.execute(httppost); HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity(); InputStream is = entity.getContent(); }catch(Exception e){ Log.e("log_tag", "Error in http connection "+e.toString()); } //convert response to string try{ InputStream is = null; BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(is,"iso-8859-1"),8); StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); String line = null; while ((line = reader.readLine()) != null) { sb.append(line + "\n"); } is.close(); result=sb.toString(); }catch(Exception e){ Log.e("log_tag", "Error converting result "+e.toString()); } //parse json data try{ JSONArray jArray = new JSONArray(result); for(int i=0;i<jArray.length();i++){ JSONObject json_data = jArray.getJSONObject(i); Log.i("log_tag","id: "+json_data.getInt("id")+ ", name: "+json_data.getString("fname")+ ", sex: "+json_data.getInt("sex")+ ", birthyear: "+json_data.getInt("dob") ); } } catch(JSONException e){ Log.e("log_tag", "Error parsing data "+e.toString()); } } This snippet is taken from http://helloandroid.com Everything is configured fine: the MySQL Db, IIS with FASTCGi, PHP tools and drivers. even the script below when called from browser with url: http://192.xxx.xx.x.xxx/getUser.php?uid=demo works fine, But returns error in android with java.lang.NullPointerException and org.json.JSONEXCEPTION: End of input at character 0 <?php mysql_connect("myhost","username","pwd"); mysql_select_db("mydb"); $q=mysql_query("SELECT * FROM userinfo WHERE uid ='".$_REQUEST['uid']."'"); while($e=mysql_fetch_assoc($q)) $output[]=$e; print(json_encode($output)); mysql_close(); ?> Can anybody help in this section? • How to use DataContractSerializer to create xml with tag names that match my known types

    - by mezoid
    I have the following data contract: [CollectionDataContract(Name="MyStuff")] public class MyStuff : Collection<object> {} [DataContract(Name = "Type1")] [KnownType(typeof(Type1))] public class Type1 { [DataMember(Name = "memberId")] public int Id { get; set; } } [DataContract(Name = "Type2")] [KnownType(typeof(Type2))] public class Type2 { [DataMember(Name = "memberId")] public int Id { get; set; } } Which I serialize to xml as follows: MyStuff pm = new MyStuff(); Type1 t1 = new Type1 { Id = 111 }; Type2 t2 = new Type2 { Id = 222 }; pm.Add(t1); pm.Add(t2); string xml; StringBuilder serialXML = new StringBuilder(); DataContractSerializer dcSerializer = new DataContractSerializer(typeof(MyStuff)); using (XmlWriter xWriter = XmlWriter.Create(serialXML)) { dcSerializer.WriteObject(xWriter, pm); xWriter.Flush(); xml = serialXML.ToString(); } The resultant xml string looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?> <MyStuff xmlns:i="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns="http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/"> <anyType i:type="Type1"> <memberId>111</memberId> </anyType> <anyType i:type="Type2"> <memberId>222</memberId> </anyType> </MyStuff> Does anyone know how I can get it to instead use the name of my known types rather than anyType in the xml tag? I'm wanting it to look like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?> <MyStuff xmlns:i="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns="http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/"> <Type1> <memberId>111</memberId> </Type1> <Type2> <memberId>222</memberId> </Type2> </MyStuff>

  • .NET OCRing an Image

    - by Kirschstein
    I'm trying to use MODI to OCR a window's program. It works fine for screenshots I grab programmatically using win32 interop like this: public string SaveScreenShotToFile() { RECT rc; GetWindowRect(_hWnd, out rc); int width = rc.right - rc.left; int height = rc.bottom - rc.top; Bitmap bmp = new Bitmap(width, height); Graphics gfxBmp = Graphics.FromImage(bmp); IntPtr hdcBitmap = gfxBmp.GetHdc(); PrintWindow(_hWnd, hdcBitmap, 0); gfxBmp.ReleaseHdc(hdcBitmap); gfxBmp.Dispose(); string fileName = @"c:\temp\screenshots\" + Guid.NewGuid().ToString() + ".bmp"; bmp.Save(fileName); return fileName; } This image is then saved to a file and ran through MODI like this: private string GetTextFromImage(string fileName) { MODI.Document doc = new MODI.DocumentClass(); doc.Create(fileName); doc.OCR(MODI.MiLANGUAGES.miLANG_ENGLISH, true, true); MODI.Image img = (MODI.Image)doc.Images[0]; MODI.Layout layout = img.Layout; StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); for (int i = 0; i < layout.Words.Count; i++) { MODI.Word word = (MODI.Word)layout.Words[i]; sb.Append(word.Text); sb.Append(" "); } if (sb.Length > 1) sb.Length--; return sb.ToString(); } This part works fine, however, I don't want to OCR the entire screenshot, just portions of it. I try cropping the image programmatically like this: private string SaveToCroppedImage(Bitmap original) { Bitmap result = original.Clone(new Rectangle(0, 0, 250, 250), original.PixelFormat); var fileName = "c:\\" + Guid.NewGuid().ToString() + ".bmp"; result.Save(fileName, original.RawFormat); return fileName; } and then OCRing this smaller image, however MODI throws an exception; 'OCR running error', the error code is -959967087. Why can MODI handle the original bitmap but not the smaller version taken from it?

  • Raw XML Push from input stream captures only the first line of XML

    - by pqsk
    I'm trying to read XML that is being pushed to my java app. I originally had this in my glassfish server working. The working code in glassfish is as follows: public class XMLPush implements Serializable { public void processXML() { StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); BufferedReader br = null; try { br = ((HttpServletRequest)FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequest()).getReader (); String s = null; while((s = br.readLine ()) != null) { sb.append ( s ); } //other code to process xml ........... ............................. }catch(Exception ex) { XMLCreator.exceptionOutput ( "processXML","Exception",ex); } .... ..... }//processXML }//class It works perfect, but my client is unable to have glassfish on their server. I tried grabbing the raw xml from php, but I couldn't get it to work. I decided to open up a socket and listen for the xml push manually. Here is my code for receiving the push: public class ListenerService extends Thread { private BufferedReader reader = null; private String line; public ListenerService ( Socket connection )thows Exception { this.reader = new BufferedReader ( new InputStreamReader ( connection.getInputStream () ) ); this.line = null; }//ListenerService @Override public void run () { try { while ( (this.line = this.reader.readLine ()) != null) { System.out.println ( this.line ); ........ }//while } System.out.println ( ex.toString () ); } } catch ( Exception ex ) { ... }//catch }//run I haven't done much socket programing, but from what I read for the past week is that passing the xml into a string is bad. What am I doing wrong and why is it that in glassfish server it works, and when I just open a socket myself it doesn't? this is all that I receive from the push: PUT /?XML_EXPORT_REASON=ResponseLoop&TIMESTAMP=1292559547 HTTP/1.1 Host: ************************ Accept: */* Content-Length: 470346 Expect: 100-continue <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> Where did the xml go? Is it because I am placing it in a string? I just need to grab the xml and save it into a file and then process it. Everything else works, but this.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Binding Source suspends itself when I don't want it to.

    - by Scott Chamberlain
    I have two data tables set up in a Master-Details configuration with a relation "Ticket_CallSegments" between them. I also have two Binding Sources and a Data Grid View configured like this (Init Code) // // dgvTickets // this.dgvTickets.AllowUserToAddRows = false; this.dgvTickets.AllowUserToDeleteRows = false; this.dgvTickets.AllowUserToResizeRows = false; this.dgvTickets.AutoGenerateColumns = false; this.dgvTickets.ColumnHeadersHeightSizeMode = System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewColumnHeadersHeightSizeMode.AutoSize; this.dgvTickets.Columns.AddRange(new System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewColumn[] { this.cREATEDATEDataGridViewTextBoxColumn, this.contactFullNameDataGridViewTextBoxColumn, this.pARTIALNOTEDataGridViewTextBoxColumn}); this.dgvTickets.DataSource = this.ticketsDataSetBindingSource; this.dgvTickets.Dock = System.Windows.Forms.DockStyle.Fill; this.dgvTickets.Location = new System.Drawing.Point(0, 0); this.dgvTickets.MultiSelect = false; this.dgvTickets.Name = "dgvTickets"; this.dgvTickets.ReadOnly = true; this.dgvTickets.RowHeadersVisible = false; this.dgvTickets.SelectionMode = System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewSelectionMode.FullRowSelect; this.dgvTickets.Size = new System.Drawing.Size(359, 600); this.dgvTickets.TabIndex = 0; // // ticketsDataSetBindingSource // this.ticketsDataSetBindingSource.DataMember = "Ticket"; this.ticketsDataSetBindingSource.DataSource = this.ticketsDataSet; this.ticketsDataSetBindingSource.CurrentChanged += new System.EventHandler(this.ticketsDataSetBindingSource_CurrentChanged); // // callSegementBindingSource // this.callSegementBindingSource.DataMember = "Ticket_CallSegments"; this.callSegementBindingSource.DataSource = this.ticketsDataSetBindingSource; this.callSegementBindingSource.Sort = "CreateDate"; //Function to update a rich text box. private void ticketsDataSetBindingSource_CurrentChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); rtbTickets.Clear(); foreach (DataRowView drv in callSegementBindingSource) { TicketsDataSet.CallSegmentsRow row = (TicketsDataSet.CallSegmentsRow)drv.Row; sb.AppendLine("**********************************"); sb.AppendLine(String.Format("CreateDate: {1}, Created by: {0}", row.USERNAME, row.CREATEDATE)); sb.AppendLine("**********************************"); rtbTickets.SelectionFont = new Font("Arial", (float)11, FontStyle.Bold); rtbTickets.SelectedText = sb.ToString(); rtbTickets.SelectionFont = new Font("Arial", (float)11, FontStyle.Regular); rtbTickets.SelectedText = row.NOTES + "\n\n"; } } However when ticketsDataSetBindingSource_CurrentChanged gets called when I select a new row in my Data Grid View callSegementBindingSource.IsBindingSuspended is set to true and my text box does not update correctly (it seems to always pull from the same row in CallSegments). Can anyone see what I am doing wrong or tell me how to unsuspend the binding so it will pull the correct data?

  • Cancel outlook meeting requests via MailMessage in C#

    - by BTmuney
    I'm creating an application using the ASP.NET MVC 1 framework in C#, where I have users that register for events. Upon registering, I create an outlook meeting request public string BuildMeetingRequest(DateTime start, DateTime end, string attendees, string organizer, string subject, string description, string UID, string location) { System.Text.StringBuilder sw = new System.Text.StringBuilder(); sw.AppendLine("BEGIN:VCALENDAR"); sw.AppendLine("VERSION:2.0"); sw.AppendLine("METHOD:REQUEST"); sw.AppendLine("BEGIN:VEVENT"); sw.AppendLine(attendees); sw.AppendLine("CLASS:PUBLIC"); sw.AppendLine(string.Format("CREATED:{0:yyyyMMddTHHmmssZ}", DateTime.UtcNow)); sw.AppendLine("DESCRIPTION:" + description); sw.AppendLine(string.Format("DTEND:{0:yyyyMMddTHHmmssZ}", end)); sw.AppendLine(string.Format("DTSTAMP:{0:yyyyMMddTHHmmssZ}", DateTime.UtcNow)); sw.AppendLine(string.Format("DTSTART:{0:yyyyMMddTHHmmssZ}", start)); sw.AppendLine("ORGANIZER;CN=\"NAME\":mailto:" + organizer); sw.AppendLine("SEQUENCE:0"); sw.AppendLine("UID:" + UID); sw.AppendLine("LOCATION:" + location); sw.AppendLine("SUMMARY;LANGUAGE=en-us:" + subject); sw.AppendLine("BEGIN:VALARM"); sw.AppendLine("TRIGGER:-PT720M"); sw.AppendLine("ACTION:DISPLAY"); sw.AppendLine("DESCRIPTION:Reminder"); sw.AppendLine("END:VALARM"); sw.AppendLine("END:VEVENT"); sw.AppendLine("END:VCALENDAR"); return sw.ToString(); } And once built, I use MailMessage, with an alternate view to send out the meeting request: meetingInfo = BuildMeetingRequest(start, end, attendees, organizer, subject, description, UID, location); System.Net.Mime.ContentType mimeType = new System.Net.Mime.ContentType("text/calendar; method=REQUEST"); AlternateView ICSview = AlternateView.CreateAlternateViewFromString(meetingInfo,mimeType); MailMessage message = new MailMessage(); message.To.Add(to); message.From = new MailAddress(from); message.AlternateViews.Add(ICSview); SmtpClient client = new SmtpClient(); client.Send(message); When users get the email in outlook, it shows up as a meeting request, as opposed to a normal email. This works well for sending out updates to the meeting request as well. The only problem that I am having is that I do not know the proper format for sending out a cancellation. I've attempted to examine some meeting request cancellations in text editors and can't seem to pinpoint the difference in the format between cancelling/creating. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

    public static string TimeLine2(this HtmlHelper helper, string myString2) { StringBuilder myString3 = new StringBuilder(); DateTime start = new DateTime(2010, 1, 1); DateTime end = new DateTime(2011, 12, 12); myString3.Append("<table>"); myString3.Append("<tr>"); for (DateTime date = start; date <= end; date = date.AddDays(1)) { DayOfWeek dw = date.DayOfWeek; var g = date.Month; var sun = " "; switch (dw) { case DayOfWeek.Sunday: sun = "S"; break; case DayOfWeek.Monday: sun = "M"; break; case DayOfWeek.Tuesday: sun = "T"; break; case DayOfWeek.Wednesday: sun = "W"; break; case DayOfWeek.Thursday: sun = "T"; break; case DayOfWeek.Friday: sun = "F"; break; case DayOfWeek.Saturday: sun = "S"; break; } myString3.Append("<td>" + sun + " " + g + "</td>"); } myString3.Append("</tr>"); myString3.Append("<tr>"); for (DateTime date = start; date <= end; date = date.AddDays(1)) { var f = date.Day; myString3.Append("<td>" + f + "</td>"); } myString3.Append("</tr>"); myString3.Append("</table>"); return myString3.ToString(); } Basically, what I have here is a few loops showing all the days of the week and also all the days in a month. This is all placed inside of a table, so you get MTWTFSSMT W T F S S M M TWTFSSM 12345678910 11 12 13 14 + + to 31 1234567 I'm trying to code a way in which I can split all of these days of the week and days in months so that my code returns each month with all its days in the month and all its days of the week, not just all my months between my timeSpan but splits them so MAY MTWTFSSMTWTFSSMTWTFSSMTWTFSSMTWTF 12345678 JUNE MTWTFSSMTWTFSSMTWTFSSMTWTFSSMTWTF 123456789

  • how can i disable the default console handler, while using the java logging api ?

    - by loudiyimo
    Hi I am trying to implement the java logging in my application. I want to use two handlers. A file handler and my own console handler. Both of my handlers work fine. My logging is send to a file and to the console . My logging is also sent to the default console handler, which i do not want. If you run my code you will see extra two line sent to the console. I don't want to use de default console handler. Does anyone know how to disable the default console handler. I only want to use the two hadlers i have created. Handler fh = new FileHandler("test.txt"); fh.setFormatter(formatter); logger.addHandler(fh); Handler ch = new ConsoleHandler(); ch.setFormatter(formatter); logger.addHandler(ch); import java.util.Date; import java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler; import java.util.logging.FileHandler; import java.util.logging.Formatter; import java.util.logging.Handler; import java.util.logging.Level; import java.util.logging.LogManager; import java.util.logging.LogRecord; import java.util.logging.Logger; public class LoggingExample { private static Logger logger = Logger.getLogger("test"); static { try { logger.setLevel(Level.INFO); Formatter formatter = new Formatter() { @Override public String format(LogRecord arg0) { StringBuilder b = new StringBuilder(); b.append(new Date()); b.append(" "); b.append(arg0.getSourceClassName()); b.append(" "); b.append(arg0.getSourceMethodName()); b.append(" "); b.append(arg0.getLevel()); b.append(" "); b.append(arg0.getMessage()); b.append(System.getProperty("line.separator")); return b.toString(); } }; Handler fh = new FileHandler("test.txt"); fh.setFormatter(formatter); logger.addHandler(fh); Handler ch = new ConsoleHandler(); ch.setFormatter(formatter); logger.addHandler(ch); LogManager lm = LogManager.getLogManager(); lm.addLogger(logger); } catch (Throwable e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } public static void main(String[] args) { logger.info("why does my test application use the standard console logger ?\n" + " I want only my console handler (Handler ch)\n " + "how can i turn the standard logger to the console off. ??"); } }

  • what's the C# equivalent of string$ from basic

    - by Preet Sangha
    And is there an elegant linqy way to do it? What I want to do is create string of given length with made of up multiples of another string up to that length So for length - 9 and input string "xxx" I get "xxxxxxxxx" (ie length 9) for a nun integral multiple then I'd like to truncate the line. I can do this using loops and a StringBuilder easily but I'm looking to see if the language can express this idea easily. (FYI I'm making easter maths homework for my son)

  • Why might the Large Object Heap grow rather than throw an exception?

    - by Unsliced
    In a previous question I asked possible programatic ways of maximising the largest block allocatable on the LOH. I'm still seeing the problems, but now I'm trying to get my head around why the LOH seems to grow and shrink in size, yet I'm still seeing OutOfMemoryExceptions that tally with what others have reported as being due to LOH fragmentation. Why might one call to, for example, StringBuilder.EnsureCapacity throw an OutOfMemoryException for me, but another call from somewhere else result in the LOH expanding in size (according to the performance counters, it is growing and shrinking)?

  • Prevent SQL Injection in Dynamic column names

    - by Mr Shoubs
    I can't get away without writing some dynamic sql conditions in a part of my system (using Postgres). My question is how best to avoid SQL Injection with the method I am currently using. EDIT (Reasoning): There are many of columns in a number of tables (a number which grows (only) and is maintained elsewhere). I need a method of allowing the user to decide which (predefined) column they want to query (and if necessary apply string functions to). The query itself is far too complex for the user to write themselves, nor do they have access to the db. There are 1000's of users with varying requirements and I need to remain as flexible as possible - I shouldn't have to revisit the code unless the main query needs to change - Also, there is no way of knowing what conditions the user will need to use. I have objects (received via web service) that generates a condition (the generation method is below - it isn't perfect yet) for some large sql queries. The _FieldName is user editable (parameter name was, but it didn't need to be) and I am worried it could be an attack vector. I put double quotes (see quoted identifier) around the field name in an attempt to sanitize the string, this way it can never be a key word. I could also look up the field name against a list of fields, but it would be difficult to maintain on a timely basis. Unfortunately the user must enter the condition criteria, I am sure there must be more I can add to the sanatize method? and does quoting the column name make it safe? (my limited testing seems to think so). an example built condition would be "AND upper(brandloaded.make) like 'O%' and upper(brandloaded.make) not like 'OTHERBRAND'" ... Any help or suggestions are appreciated. Public Function GetCondition() As String Dim sb As New Text.StringBuilder 'put quote around the table name in an attempt to prevent some sql injection 'http://www.postgresql.org/docs/8.2/static/sql-syntax-lexical.html sb.AppendFormat(" {0} ""{1}"" ", _LogicOperator.ToString, _FieldName) Select Case _ConditionOperator Case ConditionOperatorOptions.Equals sb.Append(" = ") ... End Select sb.AppendFormat(" {0} ", Me.UniqueParameterName) 'for parameter Return Me.Sanitize(sb) End Function Private Function Sanitize(ByVal sb As Text.StringBuilder) As String 'compare against a similar blacklist mentioned here: http://forums.asp.net/t/1254125.aspx sb.Replace(";", "") sb.Replace("'", "") sb.Replace("\", "") sb.Replace(Chr(8), "") Return sb.ToString End Function Public ReadOnly Property UniqueParameterName() As String Get Return String.Concat(":" _UniqueIdentifier) End Get End Property

  • Is there a standard way to encode a .NET string into javascript string for use in MS AJAX?

    - by Rich Andrews
    I'm trying to pass the output of a SQL Server exception to the client using the RegisterStartUpScript method of the MS ScriptManager. This works fine for some errors but when the exception contains single quotes the alert fails. I dont want to only escape single quotes though - Is there a standard function i can call to escape any special chars for use in Javascript? string scriptstring = "alert('" + ex.Message + "');"; ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(this, this.GetType(), "Alert", scriptstring , true); Thanks tpeczek, the code almost worked for me :) but with a slight amendment (the escaping of single quotes) it works a treat. I've included my amended version here... public class JSEncode { /// <summary> /// Encodes a string to be represented as a string literal. The format /// is essentially a JSON string. /// /// The string returned includes outer quotes /// Example Output: "Hello \"Rick\"!\r\nRock on" /// </summary> /// <param name="s"></param> /// <returns></returns> public static string EncodeJsString(string s) { StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); sb.Append("\""); foreach (char c in s) { switch (c) { case '\'': sb.Append("\\\'"); break; case '\"': sb.Append("\\\""); break; case '\\': sb.Append("\\\\"); break; case '\b': sb.Append("\\b"); break; case '\f': sb.Append("\\f"); break; case '\n': sb.Append("\\n"); break; case '\r': sb.Append("\\r"); break; case '\t': sb.Append("\\t"); break; default: int i = (int)c; if (i < 32 || i > 127) { sb.AppendFormat("\\u{0:X04}", i); } else { sb.Append(c); } break; } } sb.Append("\""); return sb.ToString(); } } As mentioned below - original source: here

  • Extending Enums, Overkill?

    - by CkH
    I have an object that needs to be serialized to an EDI format. For this example we'll say it's a car. A car might not be the best example b/c options change over time, but for the real object the Enums will never change. I have many Enums like the following with custom attributes applied. public enum RoofStyle { [DisplayText("Glass Top")] [StringValue("GTR")] Glass, [DisplayText("Convertible Soft Top")] [StringValue("CST")] ConvertibleSoft, [DisplayText("Hard Top")] [StringValue("HT ")] HardTop, [DisplayText("Targa Top")] [StringValue("TT ")] Targa, } The Attributes are accessed via Extension methods: public static string GetStringValue(this Enum value) { // Get the type Type type = value.GetType(); // Get fieldinfo for this type FieldInfo fieldInfo = type.GetField(value.ToString()); // Get the stringvalue attributes StringValueAttribute[] attribs = fieldInfo.GetCustomAttributes( typeof(StringValueAttribute), false) as StringValueAttribute[]; // Return the first if there was a match. return attribs.Length > 0 ? attribs[0].StringValue : null; } public static string GetDisplayText(this Enum value) { // Get the type Type type = value.GetType(); // Get fieldinfo for this type FieldInfo fieldInfo = type.GetField(value.ToString()); // Get the DisplayText attributes DisplayTextAttribute[] attribs = fieldInfo.GetCustomAttributes( typeof(DisplayTextAttribute), false) as DisplayTextAttribute[]; // Return the first if there was a match. return attribs.Length > 0 ? attribs[0].DisplayText : value.ToString(); } There is a custom EDI serializer that serializes based on the StringValue attributes like so: StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); sb.Append(car.RoofStyle.GetStringValue()); sb.Append(car.TireSize.GetStringValue()); sb.Append(car.Model.GetStringValue()); ... There is another method that can get Enum Value from StringValue for Deserialization: car.RoofStyle = Enums.GetCode<RoofStyle>(EDIString.Substring(4, 3)) Defined as: public static class Enums { public static T GetCode<T>(string value) { foreach (object o in System.Enum.GetValues(typeof(T))) { if (((Enum)o).GetStringValue() == value.ToUpper()) return (T)o; } throw new ArgumentException("No code exists for type " + typeof(T).ToString() + " corresponding to value of " + value); } } And Finally, for the UI, the GetDisplayText() is used to show the user friendly text. What do you think? Overkill? Is there a better way? or Goldie Locks (just right)? Just want to get feedback before I intergrate it into my personal framework permanently. Thanks.

  • passing unicode string from C# exe to C++ DLL

    - by Martin
    Using this function in my C# exe, I try to pass a Unicode string to my C++ DLL: [DllImport("Test.dll", CharSet = CharSet.Unicode, CallingConvention = CallingConvention.StdCall)] public static extern int xSetTestString(StringBuilder xmlSettings); This is the function on the C++ DLL side: __declspec(dllexport) int xSetTestString(char* pSettingsXML); Before calling the function in C#, I do a MessageBox.Show(string) and it displays all characters properly. On the C++ side, I do: OutputDebugStringW((wchar_t*)pString);, but that shows that the non-ASCII characters were replaced by '?'.

  • Display an Image using C# in Web Application

    - by Josh
    Hello again, I have a Web Application that I built a C# class in that generates a Report. This report takes nearly 40 seconds to generate because it searches hundreds of folders for certain files. So I was hoping there was a way to display a "Loading.." icon as this report is generating. I have a gif stored in my Images folder that would be perfect. The research that I've done at this point mostly talks about picturebox's and image controls that can hold the image but I was hoping there was just a way of displaying the image above the report while its being created. The Web Application is from a Web ADF Geocortex website and again I created a C# class that generates this report. Below is some code that may help. /// <summary> /// Generates HTML for the current report using the data in /// the given table. /// </summary> /// <param name="reportLayers">The layers to include in the report.</param> /// <returns> public override string GenerateReportHtml(List<ReportLayer> reportLayers) { StringBuilder htmlString = new StringBuilder(); StringWriter stringWriter = new StringWriter(htmlString); HtmlTextWriter writer = new HtmlTextWriter(stringWriter); string holdAPI = ""; List<string> exclusions = GetExcludedFields(); foreach (ReportLayer layer in reportLayers) { string[] strFiles = null; Boolean val = false; if (layer.Layer.Name == "Bottom Hole Location (OP)") writer.RenderBeginTag(HtmlTextWriterTag.P); // <p> writer.RenderBeginTag(HtmlTextWriterTag.Strong); // <strong> writer.Write(layer.Layer.Name); writer.RenderEndTag(); // end </strong> writer.RenderEndTag(); // end </p> writer.WriteBreak(); // <br /> foreach (ReportFeature feature in layer.ReportFeatures) { // each feature will be in a table writer.RenderBeginTag(HtmlTextWriterTag.Table); // <table> foreach (ReportField field in feature.ReportFields) { string fieldName = field.Alias; if (!exclusions.Contains(fieldName)) {

  • Microsoft Word Document Controls not accepting carriage returns

    - by Scott
    So, I have a Microsoft Word 2007 Document with several Plain Text Format (I have tried Rich Text Format as well) controls which accept input via XML. For carriage returns, I had the string being passed through XML containing "\r\n" when I wanted a carriage return, but the word document ignored that and just kept wrapping things on the same line. I also tried replacing the \r\n with System.Environment.NewLine in my C# mapper, but that just put in \r\n anyway, which still didn't work. Note also that on the control itself I have set it to "Allow Carriage Returns (Multiple Paragrpahs)" in the control properties. This is the XML for the listMapper <Field id="32" name="32" fieldType="SimpleText"> <DataSelector path="/Data/DB/DebtProduct"> <InputField fieldType="" path="/Data/DB/Client/strClientFirm" link="" type=""/> <InputField fieldType="" path="strClientRefDebt" link="" type=""/> </DataSelector> <DataMapper formatString="{0} Account Number: {1}" name="SimpleListMapper" type=""> <MapperData> </MapperData> </DataMapper> </Field> Note that this is the listMapper C# where I actually map the list (notice where I try and append the system.environment.newline) namespace DocEngine.Core.DataMappers { public class CSimpleListMapper:CBaseDataMapper { public override void Fill(DocEngine.Core.Interfaces.Document.IControl control, CDataSelector dataSelector) { if (control != null && dataSelector != null) { ISimpleTextControl textControl = (ISimpleTextControl)control; IContent content = textControl.CreateContent(); CInputFieldCollection fileds = dataSelector.Read(Context); StringBuilder builder = new StringBuilder(); if (fileds != null) { foreach (List<string> lst in fileds) { if (CanMap(lst) == false) continue; if (builder.Length > 0 && lst[0].Length > 0) builder.Append(Environment.NewLine); if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(FormatString)) builder.Append(lst[0]); else builder.Append(string.Format(FormatString, lst.ToArray())); } content.Value = builder.ToString(); textControl.Content = content; applyRules(control, null); } } } } } Does anybody have any clue at all how I can get MS Word 2007 (docx) to quit ignoring my newline characters??
