    I am very interested in trying out the Unreal Development Kit for my own small to medium-sized hobby projects. I am wondering about the minimum hardware requirements. I have a Vaio Z laptop with dual-core 2.4 GHZ CPU and 2 GB RAM, and graphics chip is GeForce 9300M GS. Is it even practicable to run UDK on this hardware? Or do I need a "real" desktop PC?

  • Windows 7: Computer does not enter automatic standby

    My Windows 7 PC is set to automatically enter standby ("sleep mode") after 30 minutes. For some reason it stopped working a few days ago (it keeps on running). Is there some systematic way to determine what is preventing the system from automatically entering sleep mode after the designated idle time? Manually sending the machine to sleep works fine. The monitor also enters power save mode automatically, so the "idling detection" of Windows seems to work fine.

(looking specifically for Outlook, but open to all ideas)? Something similar to Chrome's feature where after a crash, it says "Looks like Chrome didn't shut down properly. Would you like to restore your open tabs?"

    Hi all, I discovered X11, and I was wondering if it is possible to install it on a dedicated server, and have a "desktop" from the server running on my personnal computer ? Or maybe it is necessary for the server to have a screen ? Or a least kde or gnome ? What I want is a desktop of my server (as if it had a screen), but on my laptop, through internet.     I currently have a WAG120N( http://www.linksysbycisco.com/EU/en/support/WAG120N) router and I would like to know if it's possible to configure it to connect to a different wireless network(WEP with no password) so I can get internet access on it and then to connect a pc to this router(WAG120N) so I can take advantage of the internet connection. Basically I think that my need is a kind of yagi antenna but as I already got this router I would like to know if I can use instead it of yagi . Thank you in advance for any answer !

    Hello, I would like to configure a task like "child control software", so it would hibernate the pc at certain times. Is it possible to prevent modification (here: pausing) of a task through requiring the entering of the admin password to modify, EVEN THOUGH the currently-logged-in (and only) user is the admin account itself?     I am recording some game play capture (recording playing of PS3 or Wii) using a PC with Windows 7 and Hauppauge 1212 HD Recorder, and I have 4GB of RAM... is there a way to increase the size of Windows 7's hard disk cache size so that writing to the hard drive can be super fast? Since there is at least 1.5GB of RAM not being used, something like allocating 1GB just as hard disk cache, is it possible?

  • How to get httrack to work with SSL on mac os x? (libssl.so not found)

    I'm trying to use httrack website copier but the program is running and reporting "no-ssl" (ie: it does not have the capability to copy secure sites). From looking over this thread, it seems that the problem is either when I make & configure the program, or when I run the program, it is not finding the lib-ssl / open-ssl that I have installed. I think it is looking for /var/root/lib/libssl.so.1.0 The user on that forum states that he created a symlink which allowed httrack to find the ssl library in the non-default location. Perhaps that's what I need to do - but where do I create the link from and to? I'm not seeing that I have any libssl.so files installed on my system. Do I need the development package? If so, how do I install that? I used macports to install the current version of openssl that I have. I'm running OS X 10.6.   • Does VPN connection on virtual machine bypass host VPN?

    I wanted to see if i could channel my traffic trough two vpns, so as an experiment i set up a windows xp virtual machine in virtualbox (using NAT shared network setting), connected the host pc(windows 7) to a vpn, and then the virtual machine to another vpn. this seams to work fine. However, my question is, is the traffic sent trough both vpn servers, or is the virtual machines vpn bypassing the host machines vpn connection? thanks.

    I have MS-DOS 6.22 in a virtual machine (Virtual PC 2007) and I wanted to properly configure the keyboard. The keyboard I have is a French-Canadian one (FYI in Windows XP my keyboard is labeled "Français (Canada) - Français (Canada)" in the control pannel). What do I need to put in autoexec.bat and config.sys in order to use the keyboard properly (Windows 3.11 will be installed later if it matters)? I haven't configured DOS since like 14 years so all my references are lost/trashed now :)

I have an physical machine with 500GB HDD, on what is installed old Windows-2003 server with one server application. The application is like the windows itself, too old, no support for it today, haven't installation media and so on.. ;( On the HDD it is used only approx. 100MB (maybe less when will delete all unnecessary files). Want convert the the machine into the VirtualBox, and the VirtualBox should run on the same machine. Is possible to do this with the next steps? I can attach another HDD (via USB or internally) Boot an live Linux from CD, mount HDDs Run "something" on the Linux (the above wikipedia article have many pointer for the SW) for the conversion and store the image on the USB HDD - unfortunately, many of tools uses some specialty what exists in Windows-XP and above. No informations about Windows-2003 server, so what is an working solution for Windows-2003? try boot the virtual image with VirtualBox when it will run ok, remove the old installation, install Linux on the old 500GB hdd, copy the image and run.. The above should works (i hope), but the problems: i currently have only 320GB external USB hdd. (ofc, i can remove it from a box and enter it as internal HDD too) so, for the conversion I looking for the on the fly HDD shrink, so while moving the physical 500GB HDD need shrink it into smaller HDD - as i told above, only 100MB is used Exists something for this? (free) - or the only way is buying and larger 1TB hdd and using it for the conversion? Another question are: is anybody have real experience with windows-2003 conversion into VirtualBox? Looking for an answer from someone who really doing it and can figure out real pitfalls. (googling can do myself). exists here better approach for the solution?

  • DVD drive doesn't recognize blank dvds only!!!

    My dvd-rom works fine because I can play dvds on it, however when the dvd is a blank one the drive refuses to recognize it. So I can't burn dvds anymore because the drive shows up as empty in my disk burning software (dvd flick). Any idea what the problem is and how to solve it? PC: Windows vista home basic, 32 bit

  • Sysinternal's Process Explorer v14 doesn't show network activity.

    The new version of Process Explorer shows network activity history, but it doesn't in one of my computers. This particular PC runs Windows XP SP3 and it has just been reformatted so everything is "fresh". I have even installed WinPCap and Microsoft Network monitor, in case some of these drivers were necessary, but the graph stays in 0. Any ideas why this could happen? I would ask in Sysinternal's forum, but I really don't want to register in yet another forum.

I was playing around with chmod and chown. suddenly my home folder become read-only. all the folders in /home/goutham/, where goutham is username, became read-only. I can delete files after turning on system for few seconds, after that it says Permission denied:read only file system. I cant even create folder with sudo mkdir also. Please help me.
