• MaxRequestLen error when i use https

  When i got MaxRequestLen errors in file upload page, i set MaxRequestLen=31457280 using: <IfModule mod_fcgid.c> MaxRequestLen 31457280 FcgidIOTimeout 90 </IfModule> Now file upload works when i use http url. I have recently configured ssl for my site and when i use https url for same upload page, i get the same error: HTTP request length 131073 (so far) exceeds MaxRequestLen (131072) Is there a different setting for https? Please help. Thank you.

• Cron Job that Boots Screen at Start

  I am trying to set up a number of processes that start during boot (servers for games) with the below command as the cron item: @reboot /usr/bin/screen -fa -d -m -S NAME COMMAND However if the server crashes for what ever reason screen closes and the server doesn't get a chance to run it's auto restart (as far as I understand; screen sees no processes in the socket and so closes). Is there a way that I can get around this so screen will sit there even if nothing is running in it?

• Grub doesn't find any partition, what can I do?

  So I just recently installed Ubuntu Linux 10.04 on my desktop machine alongside Windows 7, it booted just fine the first few times but after I went into my Windows 7 recovery software provided by Packard Bell (I did this on accident BTW I exited it straight away and made no changes as far as I know) and re-booted I get this screen: error: no such partition grub rescue>_ PS: I have installed it on a USB stick using the ISO on the official Ubuntu website.

• Python to see if a file falls into a date range

  I have a script that I want to have an if statement check if a file falls between several specified date periods as it searches directories. I have been able to get the time in %Y-%m-%d format for the file, but I can't seem to be able to specify a date range for python to go through. Any ideas/help?   I have the official Adobe x64 iFilter PDF plug-in and the FoxIt Software iFilter PDF plug-in installed, and neither one seems to be allowing me to index the contents of PDF files. So far, I've: Added my data folder into the Indexing service configuration Ensured that PDF files are configured to index "file properties and contents" Rebuilt the index from scratch But, when I search, I can only search for PDF file names, not the contents of them. Any ideas on how to debug this issue?

• Fastest browser to run over a forwarded X11 session

  So far I have tried Firefox (latest and greatest) and Chrome (also latest and greatest), and while Chrome runs faster than Firefox over X11 from my CentOS server to my Windows 7 workstation, it's still pretty sluggish. What other GUI browsers are available for Linux that would [likely] run faster than Chrome? I've not tried Opera 11, but have had many issues with it under Windows and Mac OS X directly, so am waiting for a new version before going that route.

I'm considering putting it on some real hardware and using it as a media center. What should I be looking for as far as checking hardware compatibility? How does installing drivers work? • Software Raid 10 corrupted superblock after dual disk failure, how do I recover it?

  I have a software raid 10 with 6 x 2tb hard drives (raid 1 for /boot), ubuntu 10.04 is the os. I had a raid controller failure that put 2 drives out of sync, crashed the system and initially the os didnt boot up and went into initramfs instead, saying that drives were busy but I eventually managed to bring the raid up by stopping and assembling the drives. The os booted up and said that there were filesystem errors, I chose to ignore because it would remount the fs in read-only mode if there was a problem. Everything seemed to be working fine and the 2 drives started to rebuild, I was sure that it was a sata controller failure because I had dma errors in my log files. The os crashed soon after that with ext errors. Now its not bringing up the raid, it says that there is no superblock on /dev/sda2, even if I assemble manually with all the device names. I also did a memtest and changed the motherboard in addition to everything else. It doesn't prevent any operations so far with my repository, but I'd like to clean it up. git fsck doesn't seem to help. • (Why) are IEC C5/C6 connectors a necessity? Why not use C13/C14?

  That's a question I was asking myself the first time I saw such a weird C5 plug. That was a while ago, but I came across it again and haven't found an answer yet. The only thing I could find out is that C5 is with 2.5A and C13 with 10A. • How to back up a Windows Home Server over the network?

  One of the very few reasons I have to physically interact with my Windows Home Server is to back it up to an external hard drive, with the "Backup Server" feature. It would be more convenient to plug the external drive in to a desktop PC, and then do the backup over the network. Is there a way to do this? • Batch change modified/created dates?

  I recently bought new hard drives for my NAS. This means that I'm copying all the data off the NAS, upgrading it, and then moving the data back. I've gotten as far as copying the data from the NAS, but every file's modified/created date has been changed to when it was copied (today). Is there a way, keeping in mind that I have the original data, to batch update the modified/created dates on the copied files without having to copy them over again (we're talking over a terabyte of data)?

• Setting up Virtual Hosts with Apache on Windows 2008 server for multiple sites. Complicated setup, including subversion

  I am setting up apache on my windows 2008 server at my home. It will serve 2 functions. Subversion hosting to allow me and some others to manage company documents with version control Local website hosting for web development. Will need to run several websites since I generally work on more then one site at a time. Heres what I have done so far. I set up subversion and apache 2.2 using some walk troughs. I changed the default port to 1337. (im a nerd) Using dyndns.com I created a domain to forward to my home ip which is dynamic. ( company.gotdns.org) I then went into my DNS for my company.com and added a record to point repo.company.com to company.gotdns.org At this point people who need access to my file repository can access by going to repo.company.com/repo which is good so far. My question comes on the next step, setting up virtual hosts with apache. Ideally I would like to have my local website be viewable by some others in the company from their homes. So, say I am working on site1, I would like to have them be able to view this by going site1.roeland.bythepixel.com. At the same time, I would like to have site10.wouter.bythepixel.com go to his local setup for site10. What I have done for this: I went into my DNS for company.com and added a record to point roeland.company.com to company.gotdns.org (which translates to my ip). I added code to my httpd-vhosts.conf (listed at bottom) I added code to my host file (listed at bottom) Hah, so of course this doenst work as excepted.. going to site1.roeland.bythepixel.com doesnt bring up my test1 site. Could anyone point me where I may be going wrong?
