• Restoring a SD card after using it to root a device

  I recently purchased the Nook Touch reading device. I rooted it using the instructions on nookdevs.com Rooting included using win32diskimager to somehow transfer an .img file onto the card. Rooting is now completed and as far as I can tell, I don't need to keep the files used on the SD card, which has been reduced from a 3.5 GB or so unit to a 75 MB unit. Is there a simple way for me to somehow reformat the SD card to its original state or at least 3.5 GB. I cannot simply format it.

• Alfred - Open group of files with specific apps

  I'm trying to create a way of opening a set of project files in multiple apps, using Alfred. I know about the File Group extension in the powerpack (I have this), but as far as I can see, there's a limitation in that it only opens the files with the default app. My usage case is this: Open a .html file with Chrome Open the same .html file with MacVim Anyone know a way around this? Maybe an applescript is more what I'd need?

• Textmate single quotes autoclosure

  I’m using TextMate 1.5.10 on OS X Lion, and for some weird reason I don‘t get autocomplete for single quotes ('). Double quotes (") work fine. Since I personally prefer to use single quotes whenever I code in JavaScript or PHP, that thing annoys me a little. And as far I have googled, TextMate is actually supposed to autoclose single quotes by default. So why doesn’t this work for me and how do I force-enable this feature?

• I want to plot ocean current with a GPS in a bottle.

• Rsync over ssh: "ERROR: module is read only" suddenly appeared

  I've used from some time rsync/ssh to backup my shared host contents to my personal Synology NAS (212j for that matter), and it worked quite well. For information, I use a password-less ssh connection. 3 days ago, I updated my NAS software and since (or at least I believe it's since that), the backup won't work anymore. I get the following error on the host: rsync: writefd_unbuffered failed to write 4 bytes to socket [sender]: Broken pipe (32) ERROR: module is read only ..which I do not understand. beside that nothing changed that I know of in both source and destination that can be related to rsync or ssh, I did check a few things and all seems to be alright: I can still connect through ssh from the host to my NAS with the good user, so ssh stuff like keys haven't changed. I also have the correct file permissions on the NAS (I checked, and also tried to create files, directories, .. with the user used by rsync through ssh). I read here and there that the error means that I have to ensure that my rsyncd.conf have the right read only = no in it, but as far as I know, I never used rsyncd as well as I never configured anything for it and until now it worked like a charm.. I use the following command to do the backup: rsync -ab --recursive \ --files-from="$FILES_FROM" \ --backup-dir=backup_$SUFFIX \ --delete \ --filter='protect backup_*' \ $WDIRECTORY/ \ remote_backup:$REMOTE_BACKUP/ So I'm stuck and really can't figure out what happened. Edit: As suggested in comments, I also tried passing commands to ssh (but not from inside a ssh session), that worked as expected, and also tried a single rsync command, which didnt worked, failing just like the complete backup command.   I would like to map ip address to specific localhost interfaces (e.g. 23.45.66.77 = 127.0.3.3). For named hosts I can use the hosts file. Naturally this doesn't work for IP address. This has to work in windows, the only option I've found so far is implementing a TAP/TUN driver like openvpn does. Are there any other options?

  Imagine you work in Office 2007 or 2010, you create a far-fetched presentation and save it as 'ppt'. Office 2007/2010 warns you that some effects will be lost, but you save it. Question: If you open that ppt file in the office version you're working with(2007/2010) will it run like on '97 or '03 with the lack of effects, no other problems? I'm asking so I know whether I have to install an older office so I can check compatibility.I use 2010. Thanks in advance

• Is ThinkPad X61T SD card slot SDXC compatible?

  I have a Thinkpad X61T 7763 tablet and I was planning to buy a 64GB card for the SD card slot. The 64GB card supports the new SDXC standard and I'm not sure if the SD card driver / hardware can handle that. So far, I've successfully used 8GB cards in the slot, but they were SDHC ones. Thinkpad manuals don't give the answer. I wonder if anyone tried this configuration already and what was the outcome.

  I'm working on a tutorial using Backtrack 4 Live USB, and I would like to take a screencast of what I'm doing (not just screenshots) So far I have tried these application with limited success: -recordmydesktop -xvidcap -wink -istanbul -vlc -vnc2flv Each time I try the resulting files are generally choppy (at best 1 frame per second) and most don't even end up with a clear view of the screen each time. If anyone has suggestions for the screencast I would greatly appreciate it.

• Managing multiple independant domains with Google Apps

  I am currently running a server where I have multiple domains with all of them running there own mail server. My plan is to outsource this whole email service and have Google, or competitor, do this for me. Let me start by telling you the setup I have now and want to migrate to Google. Initial setup I have a main domain where I run my server, and my nameserver. This is an important domain because this holds the connection with all my internal applications. For example log messages, cronjob messages, and virus-scan messages are sent to this domain. This email is also registered at my registrar and I use it to communicate with my ISP. Next I run a few independent websites that all need their independent email addresses. This can be on shared space, I don't mind. 1 Gig will be enough for everything I am going to do. Summary: superdomain.com (which only has a catchall for internal use and communication with my ISP) cars.com (independent) flowers.com (independent) foods.com (independent) I am going to be the admin for all of this. The independent domains don't need there own admin panel, they just need email addresses like info@ support@, etc. I do all the managing and they just send and receive emails using the accounts i give them. All of the websites have there different staff that use the accounts. Tried so far I have registered my superdomain, but I can only add aliases to the main domain. If I make all the other domains aliases the emails from [email protected] and [email protected] will have the same inbox. I want them to be separate. is the only way to achieve this by creating an account for each domain? And if so, is there no way of creating a superdomain account where I can edit all these accounts easily without having to log in 4 different places to get my work done. I have searched the Google help forums, and posted questions but without any results so far. Questions Can anyone please give me some advice on what to do. I currently use the free program Google has.
