• Unable to copy multiple files from remote sftp via ssh

  I am trying to copy multiple (1000s) .JPG files from remote SFTP server to current server using mget command but it is not working. Here is the command that I used sftp [email protected] sftp> cd /images sftp> mget *.JPG Screenshot at http://i.stack.imgur.com/bSciQ.png Nothing happens so when I do CTRL + C it gives an error that says File "/images/*.JPG" not found. I have already referred all suggestions posted on the forum but nothing is working. Let me know if there is another way to copy.

• Why are my USB 2.0 devices crashing Windows XP?

  Background on the machine I'm having a problem with: The machine was inherited and appears to be circa 2003 (there's a date stamp on the power supply which leads me to this conclusion). I've got it set up as a Skype terminal for my 2 year old to keep in touch with her grandparents and other members of the family - which everyone loves. It has a generic ATX motherboard with no identifying markings other than one stamp that says "Rev.B". CPU-Z identifies the motherboard model as VT8601 but doesn't provide me with any manufacturer name. On board it has 1 x 10/100 LAN, 2 x USB 1.0, VGA, PS/2 for KB and mouse, parallel port, 2 x serial ports, 2 x IDE, 1 x floppy, 2 x SDRAM slots, 1 x CPU housing that is seating a 1.3GHz Intel Celeron CPU, 3 x PCI, 1 x AGP - although you can only use 2 of the PCI slots if you use the AGP slot due to the physical layout of the board. It's got 768Mb PC133 SDRAM - 1 x 512Mb & 1 x 256Mb installed as well as a D-LINK WDA-2320 54G Wi-Fi network card and a generic USB 2.0 expansion board containing 3 x external + 1 x internal USB connectors. It has a DVD+/-RW running as master on IDE1 and a 1.44Mb 3.5" floppy drive connected to the floppy connector. It has an 80Gb Western Digital hard drive running as master on IDE0. All this is sitting in a slimline case. I don't know the wattage of the PSU, but can post this later if this proves to be helpful. The motherboard is running a version of Award BIOS for which I don't have the version number to hand but can again post this later if it would be helpful. The hard disk is freshly formatted and built with Windows XP Professional/Service Pack 3 and is up to date with all current patches. In addition to Windows XP, the only other software it's running is Skype 4.1 (4.2 hangs the whole machine as soon as it starts up, requiring a hard boot to recover). It's got a Daytek MV150 15" touch screen hooked up to the on board VGA and COM1 sockets with the most current drivers from the Daytek website and the most current version of ELO-Touchsystems drivers for the touch component. The webcam is a Logitech Webcam C200 with the latest drivers from the Logitech website. The problem: If I hook any devices to the USB 2.0 sockets, it hangs the whole machine and I have to hard boot it to get it back up. If I have any devices attached to the USB 2.0 sockets when I boot up, it hangs before Windows gets to the login prompt and I have to hard boot it to recover. Workarounds found: I can plug the same devices into the on board USB 1.0 sockets and everything works fine, albeit at reduced performance. I've tried 3 different kinds of USB thumb drives, 3 different makes/models of webcams and my iPhone all with the same effect. They're recognized and don't hang the machine when I hook them to the USB 1.0 but if I hook them to the USB 2.0 ports, the machine hangs within a couple of seconds of recognizing the devices were connected. Attempted solutions: I've seen suggestions that this could be a power problem - that the PSU just doesn't have the wattage to drive these ports. While I'm doubtful this is the problem [after all the motherboard has the same standard connector regardless of the PSU wattage], I tried disabling all the on board devices that I'm not using - on board LAN, the second COM port, the AGP connector etc. through the BIOS in what I'm sure is a futile attempt to reduce the power consumption... I also modified the ACPI and power management settings. It didn't have any noticeable affect, although it didn't do any harm either. Could the wattage of the PSU really cause this problem? If it can, is there anything I need to be aware of when replacing it or do I just need to make sure it's got a higher wattage than the current one? My interpretation was that the wattage only affected the number of drives you could hook up to the power connectors, is that right? I've installed the USB card in another machine and it works without issue, so it's not a problem with the USB card itself, and Windows says the card is installed and working correctly... right up until I connect a device to it. The only thing I haven't done which I only just thought of while writing this essay is trying the USB 2.0 card in a different PCI slot, or re-ordering the wi-fi and USB cards in the slots... although I'm not sure if this will make any difference - does anyone have any experience that would suggest this might work? Other thoughts/questions: Perhaps this is an incompatibility between the USB 2.0 card and the BIOS, would re-flashing the BIOS with a newer version help? Do I need to be able to identify the manufacturer of the motherboard in order to be able to find a BIOS edition specific for this motherboard or will any version of Award BIOS function in its place? Question: Does anyone have any ideas that could help me get my USB 2.0 devices hooked up to this machine?

• Recommend a mail server setup for multiple domains

  Hi all, I've just set up a new Debian web server which I have done plenty of times before, but I want to add a mail server which I have never done before. I am aware of this question, but I would like someone to recommend packages and briefly explain how to use them for providing pop/imap access on multiple domains, a concept that has confused me for a while. I'm planning for this server to grow slowly but surely, from serving an initial 5 or 6 domains to about 20 in the first year, continuing at this rate. (yes, I've jumped on the cloud bandwaggon). At the moment, I have a DNS-A record pointing to my server's IP and nothing else. I'm assuming that I need a DNS-MX record pointing there too, but I haven't read up about it yet so today that's what I'll be doing. Hopefully reading up on the subject and the help that I get here will get my server up and running in no time. Thanks!

  I'm doing a traceroute from my box to ....say.... stackoverflow.com. I see a couple of instances where there are multiple ip's on one line. For instance, in below, line #2 has two IPs: 10.1.6.5 and 10.1.4.5 Also on line #4, there are two timestamps after 216.182.236.96: 0.653 ms and 0.637 ms What are these? • SSL client auth in nginx with multiple server section

  I want to implement ssl_verify_client in nginx. This works perfectly when I only have one server section, which listen to 443. In my case I have multiple, all listening on 443 but to different server_name. For one particular server (proxy.mydomain.com), I'm adding the SSL client verify, but when I test the connectivity with openssl s_client -connect proxy.mydomain.com:443 -cert xxx.crt -key xxx.key and then do a GET / HTTP/1.1 host: proxy.mydomain.com It's not working, 400 No required SSL certificate was sent I think nginx is not receiving the proper server_name and is directing it to the first server listening to 443. So I tried to listen on another port and it worked right away. What's the issue and how can I fix it ?

• Running Emacs on Multiple TTYs in screen

  When working with EMACS over SSH, is there any way to spawn a new frame of the same emacs session on a different terminal? In my use case, I have screen running, so I have multiple terminals, and can recover which pseudo terminal they're attached to with pts. Suppose I have two "windows" (in GNU screen parlance). The first one is attached to /dev/pts/12 and the second one is attached to /dev/pts/13. I launch emacs on the first window. Is there any way for me to start a new frame of the same session on the second window? I've been playing with passing arguments to make-frame but it seems that the usage that allows me to specify a terminal requires that a terminal object already exists, and I can't see any way to create a new terminal object.

• Merging and sorting multiple files with "sort"

  Hello, I have a bunch of text logfiles in the following format: ID (17 characters) Timestamp (14 characters YYYYmmddHHMMSS e.g. "20060210100040" -> 2006/02/10 10:00:40) Random data (? characters) end of line The files are already sorted by timestamp. I need to get 1 log file with all the logs from multiple logs files, sorted by timestamp. Note that the log files are really huge, around 3-4G each (and there are dozens of them) I tried the following command: sort -s -m -t '|' -k1n,1n +17 -o data_sort.txt *.TXT Here is how I ended up with this command: -s : don't bother with tie results -m : merge all logs files -t '|' : there is no | in my logs, so the whole line should be field 1 -k1n,1n: sort on the first field as a numeric value +17 : the timestamp starts at index 17 -o : output file Actually... it fails miserably. The output file data_sort.txt is just the concatenation of all files, not sorted at all :( I would greatly appreciate if anyone could provide any help on this problem! Thanks

By now, I have a shell script that starts an application in the foreground and waits for the termination of the application afterwards starts several applications (like browser, mailer, IRC client) in the background The script is working, however all the applications are getting the same icon and are treated like different windows of one application, i.e. the script. Is there a way to start applications from a script, that makes Unity display the icons of the applications, e.g. the Thunderbird icon, instead of a single default icon for the script? • Extract first page from multiple pdfs

  Have got about 500 PDFs to go through and extract the first page of. They then need to go through some time consuming conversion process so was hoping to try and save some time by have a batch process to extract just the first page from the 500 pdfs and place it in a new pdf. Have had a poke around Acrobat but can find no real method of doing this for multiple files. Does anyone know any other programs or methods that this could be achieved? Free and open source are obviously more favourable :) EDIT: Have actually had some success using GhostScript to extract just one page. Am now looking at how to batch that and take the list of files and use those.

  I am trying to load the .arx file for a particular program, once the User clicks on the customized tab in AUtoCAD. Requirements are: 1.When User Clicks on the customized tab, it loads the .arx 2.Runs the program 3.Unload the .arx file. I achieved Point 2 by acedRegCmds-(); I tried getting point 1 and 3 working, by using acedArxLoad(_T("C:\Example\Example.arx")); command, but it did not work.   Is it possible to have multiple Reporting Services databases in one MSSQL instance? I have a MSSQL 2008 R2 with RS set to SharePoint Integrated Mode. This RS is in use and can't be changed. I do however need a RS in native mode for the TFS installation to be able to use it. Am I required to set up a new instance of MSSQL? Bonus question: If so, is that permitted under the MS licensing scheme or is it an additional cost?

  I have been using a Barracuda web filter 310 in our network and I have just had enough of it. It does not support trunking and we have several networks that have users that need to be web filtered. (I guess if everyone just did their flippin jobs I would not have this issue) but the management wants me to get it resolved. • Windows XP, USB-Stick and multiple Partitions

  Hello. I've got an USB-Stick with multiple Partitions on it (FAT32 (active), FAT32, Ext2 <-- that's another story) and it seems like that my Windows XP can only mount the first partition of the stick. If I try to mount the second one using the volume manager it tells me that I need to make it active and reboot...is it really that limited or am I just missing something here? Partitions: FAT32, System Rescue CD, bootable and active FAT32, some tools ext2, some data (I know that I need extra drivers etc., but that's not asked here. Edit (Solution): Thanks to the answer with the RMB (ReMoveable Bit) I was able to dig up a solution described at this site (Section: On flash drive only the first partition works). Basically, there's an Hitachi Driver available which filters the RMB on Driver-Level, which just needs to be a little modified to function with basically every USB-Stick. All you need to do is adding the "Device Instance ID" to the driver and then use this driver.

I want to control the authentication/authorization in such a manner that authentication is done by gateway and any other access is routed through this ssh server to internal services without any further authentication/authorization requirements.   How can I store 2 different private SSH keys for the same host? I have tried 2 entries in /etc/ssh/ssh_config for the same host with the different keys, and I've also tried to put both keys in the same file and referencing it from one hosts setting, however both do not work. More detail: I'm running Ubuntu server (12.04) and I want to connect to GitHub via SSH to download the latest source for my projects. There are multiple projects running on the same server and each project has a GitHub repo with it's own unique deloyment key-pair. So the host is always the same (github.com) but the keys need to be different depending on which repo I'm using. Different /etc/ssh/ssh_config versions I have tried: Host github.com IdentityFile /etc/ssh/my_project_1_github_deploy_key StrictHostKeyChecking no Host github.com IdentityFile /etc/ssh/my_project_2_github_deploy_key StrictHostKeyChecking no and this with both keys in the same file: Host github.com IdentityFile /etc/ssh/my_project_github_deploy_keys StrictHostKeyChecking no I've had no luck with either.   The router in my LAN closet does 2 and 5 GHz. In the kitchen, I have a single-band 2 GHz WAP, and in the garden shed I have another single-band 2 GHz WAP. All are set to Bandwidth = 40 MHz, Wireless Network Mode = N-Only. The kitchen WAP and the LAN closet router both come up with multiple bars on my smart phone from almost anywhere in the house. The garden shed WAP will register one bar... but only sometimes. The Questions: Are these things in danger of butting heads? Should I re-set them to Bandwidth = 20 MHz? Bandwidth = Auto? Are there any tools that I could use on an Android smart phone, iPod, or WiFi-enabled laptop to make my own analysis?

I have the following situation: first domain: test.domain.com IP: 1.2.3.4 Port: 443 SSL: Purchased from godaddy and specific to that domain Works fine no issues. I would like to add another site: test2.domain.com IP: the same Port: can be different SSL: different since I can't use the SSL above because it's specific to the site above. Now, when I add the HTTPS binding to the second site with IP:Port combination it appears to always load the first SSL ignoring the second certificate. How can I add second SSL binding to the same IP using a "different" certificate? Can this be done?

• Outlook 2010 - Downloads same messages multiple times when opening

  I run multiple POP mailboxes, and have the 'Leave copy of messages on server' set for 20 days. I have been working like this for several years. However, I have just this week upgraded to Outlook 2010, and for some reason a couple of the mailboxes are downloading all the messages again, each time I open outlook. I have gone through all the settings but I can't see anything obvious, and apart from the upgrade to 2010, I havent touched any settings (2010 imported everything from 2007). I use webmail when away from my PC, hence why I leave a copy of emails on the server. Any ideas? It only downloads when Outlook first opens, thankfully not every time I do a send/receive.

  Hi, I was wondering if there is a convenient way in linux/unix to read multiple log files as one. More specifically, I would like to view a sequence of log files (app.log, app.log.1 app.log.2, etc) as one big file using normal unix tools (vi, less, etc). When the EOF is read the tool will automatically move to the beginning of the next file. During my work I have to analyze uat/prod logs to investigate and solve problems. The fact that I need to traverse many log files disturbs my work and causes delays. Any ideas?

  We have a 21TB LUN full of images that are approx 600K in size in multiple sub folders on the disk. We are trying to split the 21TB LUN into 8 smaller LUNs that are about 2.6TB a piece in order to process the images more effectively. My question is how we can determine what 2.6TB is on the drive? What is the best tool to mark this data so we can copy it to the new smaller LUNs with robocopy or emcopy without overfilling the smaller LUNs? • Multiple SMTP servers in Thunderbird3

  Situation: 2 mail accounts - each with its own pop3 and smtp servers, accesed normally. Except, when using Vodafone mobile network (you know, those usb or pcmcia cards ...) in which case mails are send using Vodafone's SMTP server. I configured both accounts in thunderbird for their default servers, and then added under multiple identities, another called Name of User (mobile) for each account. And it works. Except, I don't like the fact that when I send mail using mobile smtp server it sends them under Name of User (mobile) <-- the mobile part being important. I could of course, delete that part, but then when sending mail, I'd have no way of differenting between the two. They'd both look as Name of User email@address_of_user.com. So, what would be the easiest way to solve this ? It is not a major problem, but it is annoying.
