  • Error getting twitter request token using OAuth and PEAR Services_Twitter

    - by Onema
Hello, I am moving from the basic authentication method using username and password to the OAuth based authentication. I was using an old version of the pear package Services_Twitter, that did not support OAuth. The latest version of this package supports OAuth authentications, it has a few dependencies (HTTP_Request2, HTTP_OAuth). It was very simple to install them and upgrade the package. I did all this my local machine and had no trouble getting the authentication up and running. I committed this code to the test site, but every time the code request a "request token" I get the following error message "Unable to connect to ssl://api.twitter.com:443. Error #0" I have spend 6 hours making sure that all the pear packages where up to date, checking the customer token and token secret, making sure port 443 is not closed... in addition to various other test. I have exhausted my resources and I come to you in hope to find some answers. Thank you PD: One of the things I do not understand is why does the message says that the url is ssl://api.twitter.com:443 rather than https://api.twitter.com/request_token? the former one is the one I am using to get the request token.

  • Rails, Apache2 on Ubuntu (karmic) deployment

I just need some clarification on a couple of files. My site has an admin subdomain and SSL in addition to the normal *:80 details found in the virtual hosts. My question(s): Do I need to specify a 1) ServerName and 2) DocumentRoot in: /etc/apache2/apache2.conf? I currently enable my site from this directory: /etc/apache2/sites-available/site Here are the contents of my site file in the above directory (/etc/apache2/sites-available/site): <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName www.site.com ServerAlias www.site.com DocumentRoot /home/user/public_html/site/current/public RailsAllowModRewrite off <directory "/home/user/public_html/site/current/public"> Order allow, deny Allow from all </directory> </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName www.site.com ServerAlias admin.site.com DocumentRoot /home/user/public_html/site/current/public RailsAllowModRewrite off <directory "/home/user/public_html/site/current/public"> Order allow, deny Allow from all </directory> </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:443> ServerName www.site.com ServerAlias www.site.com # SSL releated SSLEngine on SSLOptions +FakeBasicAuth +ExportCertData +StrictRequire SSLCertificateFile /path/to/site.com.crt SSLCertificateChainFile /path/to/bundle.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /path/to/site.key # Used by rails RequestHeader set X_FORWARDED_PROTO "https" </VirtualHost> Do you see anything wrong?

  • Is "Server not found" error related to Activclient?

    - by Kent
Users are getting sporadic "Server not found" errors after idling in the browser. We have a HTTPS web application (Apache/Tomcat) using NSS for authentication on the server. The error occurs when a user opens the application and later lets it sit idle/untouched for 15 minutes. When they try to access the application they can get a "Server not found" error. Users use CAC cards with ActivClient software and our web application uses the certificates for authentication and authorization. We have been able to recreate the problem but have been unable to diagnose it. In recreating the problem the server is getting a series of "Unable to find the certificate or key necessary for authentication" errors in the NSS log associated with the browser error. These erros don't occur until the user tries to access the idle application. When the application is idle for 15 minutes the PIN is not requested yet the PIN Cache timeout in ActivClient is set at 15 minutes. All our server side timeout parameters are set to hours not minutes. IE 6 is our browser and NSS is using TLS. We have tried modifying "SetEnvIf User-Agent ".MSIE." ssl-unclean-shutdown" with no improvement. I understand that the PIN cache timeout and SSL session don't have a 1:1 relationship but the timing is suspicious. Can't find anything in the windows error logs that indicates a problem (security logs are not accessible to us). Any suggestions as to how to identify the cause of the problem would be appreciated.

  • .NET How would I build a DAL to meet my requirments?

    - by Jonno
Assuming that I must deploy an asp.net app over the following 3 servers: 1) DB - not public 2) 'middle' - not public 3) Web server - public I am not allowed to connect from the web server to the DB directly. I must pass through 'middle' - this is purely to slow down an attacker if they breached the web server. All db access is via stored procedures. No table access. I simply want to provide the web server with a ado dataset (I know many will dislike this, but this is the requirement). Using asmx web services - it works, but XML serialisation is slow and it's an extra set of code to maintain and deploy. Using a ssh/vpn tunnel so that the one connects to the db 'via' the middle server, seems to remove any possible benefit of maintaining 'middle'. Using WCF binary/tcp removes the XML problem, but still there is extra code. Is there an approach that provides the ease of ssh/vpn, but the potential benefit of having the dal on the middle server? Many thanks.

  • Inheritance issue with ivar on the iPhone

    - by Buffalo
I am using the BLIP/MYNetwork library to establish a basic tcp socket connection between the iPhone and my computer. So far, the code builds and runs correctly in simulator but deploying to device yields the following error: error: property 'delegate' attempting to use ivar '_delegate' declared in super class of 'TCPConnection' @interface TCPConnection : TCPEndpoint { @private TCPListener *_server; IPAddress *_address; BOOL _isIncoming, _checkedPeerCert; TCPConnectionStatus _status; TCPReader *_reader; TCPWriter *_writer; NSError *_error; NSTimeInterval _openTimeout; } /** The delegate object that will be called when the connection opens, closes or receives messages. */ @property (assign) id<TCPConnectionDelegate> delegate; /** The delegate messages sent by TCPConnection. All methods are optional. */ @protocol TCPConnectionDelegate <NSObject> @optional /** Called after the connection successfully opens. */ - (void) connectionDidOpen: (TCPConnection*)connection; /** Called after the connection fails to open due to an error. */ - (void) connection: (TCPConnection*)connection failedToOpen: (NSError*)error; /** Called when the identity of the peer is known, if using an SSL connection and the SSL settings say to check the peer's certificate. This happens, if at all, after the -connectionDidOpen: call. */ - (BOOL) connection: (TCPConnection*)connection authorizeSSLPeer: (SecCertificateRef)peerCert; /** Called after the connection closes. Would I simply declare _delegate as a public property of the base class "TCPEndPoint"? Thanks for the help ya'll!

  • PHPMailer with GMail: SMTP Error

    - by Abs
Hello all, I am making use of PHPMailer to send mail through GMail. The code I use is straight from a tutorial and it works perfectly on my laptop. However, testing this on a Windows 2003 Server - it seems to always return an SMPT error: SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host. Mailer Error: SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host. Here is the settings I use in PHPMailer: include("phpmailer/class.phpmailer.php"); $mail = new PHPMailer(); $mail->IsSMTP(); $mail->SMTPAuth = true; // enable SMTP authentication $mail->SMTPSecure = "ssl"; // use ssl $mail->Host = "smtp.gmail.com"; // GMAIL's SMTP server $mail->Port = 465; // SMTP port used by GMAIL server Can I say with confidence that this isn't a port issue, since I am connecting to another server on port 465 and it is sending mail. If not, please explain. How can I resolve this issue? Thanks all for any help

  • How to achieve high availability?

    - by tanyehzheng
My boss wants to have a system that takes into concern of continent wide catastrophic event. He wants to have two servers in US and two servers in Asia (1 login server and 1 worker server in each continent). In the event that earthquake breaks the connection between the two continents, both should work alone. When the connection is revived, they should sync each other back to normal. External cloud system not allowed as he has no confidence. The system should take into account of scalability which means addition of new servers should be easy to configure. The servers should be load balanced. The connection between the servers should be very secure(encrypted and send through SSL although SSL takes care of encryption). The system should let one and only one user log in with one account. (beware of latency between continent and two users sharing account may reach both login server at the same time) Please help. I'm already at the end of my wit. Thank you in advance.

  • Using JavaMail to send a mail containing Unicode characters

    - by NoozNooz42
I'm successfully sending emails through GMail's SMTP servers using the following piece of code: Properties props = new Properties(); props.put("mail.smtp.host", "smtp.gmail.com"); props.put("mail.smtp.socketFactory.port", "465"); props.put("mail.smtp.socketFactory.class","javax.net.ssl.SSLSocketFactory"); props.put("mail.smtp.auth", "true"); props.put("mail.smtp.port", "465"); props.put("mail.smtp.ssl", "true"); props.put("mail.smtp.starttls.enable","true"); props.put("mail.smtp.timeout", "5000"); props.put("mail.smtp.connectiontimeout", "5000"); // Do NOT use Session.getDefaultInstance but Session.getInstance // See: http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5301696 final Session session = Session.getInstance( props, new javax.mail.Authenticator() { protected PasswordAuthentication getPasswordAuthentication() { return new PasswordAuthentication( USER, PWD ); } }); try { final Message message = new MimeMessage(session); message.setFrom( new InternetAddress( USER ) ); message.setRecipients( Message.RecipientType.TO, InternetAddress.parse( TO ) ); message.setSubject( emailSubject ); message.setText( emailContent ); Transport.send(message); emailSent = true; } catch ( final MessagingException e ) { e.printStackTrace(); } where emailContent is a String that does contain Unicode characters (like the euro symbol). When the email arrives (in another GMail account), the euro symbol has been converted to the ASCII '?' question mark. I don't know much about emails: can email use any character encoding? What should I modify in the code above so that an encoding allowing Unicode characters is used?

  • How can I refactor these script tags?

    - by Shpigford
I have the following script tags in the <head> so that they don't prompt any security errors when going back and forth between SSL and non-SSL pages. But it just looks hairy. • How else can I email a file using ASP.NET?

    - by Jane T
    Hi all, I'm using the code below in a ASP.NET page to send a file via email from our users home computer to a mailbox that is used for receiving work that needs photocopying. The code below works fine when sending a file within our network but fails when our users are at home and connected via our SSL VPN, there appears to be a bug in our VPN where it doesn't allow the file to be temporarily saved on the webserver before being sent via email. Can anyone offer any other suggestions on how to attach a file to a ASP.NET page and have the file sent via email without storing it on the web server? Many thanks Jane. MailMessage mail = new MailMessage(); mail.From = txtFrom.Text; mail.To = txtTo.Text; mail.Cc = txtFrom.Text; mail.Subject = txtSubject.Text; mail.Body = "test" mail.BodyFormat = MailFormat.Html; string strdir = "E:\\TEMPforReprographics\\"; //<-------PROBLEM AREA string strfilename = Path.GetFileName(txtFile.PostedFile.FileName); try { txtFile.PostedFile.SaveAs(strdir + strfilename); string strAttachment = strdir + strfilename; mail.Attachments.Add(new MailAttachment(strdir + strfilename)); SmtpMail.SmtpServer = "172.16.0.88"; SmtpMail.Send(mail); Response.Redirect("Thanks.aspx", true); } catch { Response.Write("An error has occured sending the email or uplocading the file."); } finally { }

  • My python program always brings down my internet connection after several hours running, how do I debug and fix this problem?

    - by Shane
I'm writing a python script checking/monitoring several server/websites status(response time and similar stuff), it's a GUI program and I use separate thread to check different server/website, and the basic structure of each thread is using an infinite while loop to request that site every random time period(15 to 30 seconds), once there's changes in website/server each thread will start a new thread to do a thorough check(requesting more pages and similar stuff). The problem is, my internet connection always got blocked/jammed/messed up after several hours running of this script, the situation is, from my script side I got urlopen error timed out each time it's requesting a page, and from my FireFox browser side I cannot open any site. But the weird thing is, the moment I close my script my Internet connection got back on immediately which means now I can surf any site through my browser, so it must be the script causing all the problem. I've checked the program carefully and even use del to delete any connection once it's used, still get the same problem. I only use urllib2, urllib, mechanize to do network requests. Anybody knows why such thing happens? How do I debug this problem? Is there a tool or something to check my network status once such situation occurs? It's really bugging me for a while... By the way I'm behind a VPN, does it have something to do with this problem? Although I don't think so because my network always get back on once the script closed, and the VPN connection never drops(as it appears) during the whole process.

  • Avoid slowdowns while using off-site database

    - by Anders Holmström
The basic layout of my problem is this: Website (ASP.NET/C#) hosted at a dedicated hosting company (location 1) Company database (SQL Server) with records of relevant data (location 2). Location 1 & 2 connected through VPN. Customer visiting the website and wanting to pull data from the company database. No possibility of changing the server locations or layout (i.e. moving the website to an in-office server isn't possible). What I want to do is figure out the best way to handle the data acces in this case, minimizing the need for time-expensive database calls over the VPN. The first idea I'm getting is this: When a user enters the section of the website needing the DB data, you pull all the needed tables from the database into a in-memory dataset. All subsequent views/updates to the data is done on this dataset. When the user leaves (logout, session timeout, browser closed etc) the dataset gets sent to the SQL server. I'm not sure if this is a realistic solution, and it obviously has some problems. If two web visitors are performing updates on the same data, the one finishing up last will have their changes overwriting the first ones. There's also no way of knowing you have the latest data (i.e. if a customer pulls som info on their projects and we update this info while they are viewing them, they won't see these changes PLUS the above overwriting issue will arise). The other solution would be to somehow aggregate database calls and make sure they only happen when you need them, e.g. during data updates but not during data views. But then again the longer a pause between these refreshing DB calls, the bigger a chance that the data view is out of date as per the problem described above. Any input on the above or some fresh ideas would be most welcome.

  • User switching without logging off

    - by mrh1967
We need to switch users without logging off so we can remotely administrate a PC running with a limited user that will disconnect from the VPN if the user logs off. I've got this working by killing the explorer process and then running explorer.exe with the administrator user credentials as the following code shows: private void btnOk_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { IntPtr tokenHandle = new IntPtr(0); if (LogonUser("administrator", Environment.UserDomainName, txtPassword.Text, 3, 0, ref tokenHandle)) { ProcessStartInfo psi = new ProcessStartInfo(@"C:\Windows\explorer.exe"); psi.UserName = "administrator"; char[] pword = txtPassword.Text.ToCharArray(); psi.Password = new System.Security.SecureString(); foreach (char c in pword) { psi.Password.AppendChar(c); } psi.UseShellExecute = false; psi.LoadUserProfile = true; restartExplorer(psi); this.Close(); } else { MessageBox.Show("Wrong password", "Error", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Exclamation); } } private void restartExplorer(ProcessStartInfo psi) { Process[] procs = System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcesses(); foreach (Process p in procs) { if (p.ProcessName == "explorer") { p.Kill(); break; } } System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(psi); } [DllImport("advapi32.dll", SetLastError = true)] public extern static bool LogonUser(String lpszUsername, String lpszDomain, String lpszPassword, int dwLogonType, int dwLogonProvider, ref IntPtr phToken); This code and similar code that does the same but makes the ProcessStartInfo for the limited user works perfectly and allows changing between the limited and administrator accounts without disconnecting the VPN but it has one problem - If we use this to change to the administrator user, make some changes to the system, then change back to the limited user all works ok until the limited user logs off when a blank desktop is displayed until CTRL-ALT-DEL is pressed and the user is logged off again. Because we block CTRL-ALT-DEL the PC effectively hangs until it is powered off. Does anyone know how to stop this from happening so we can change users without the PC hanging when they log off?

  • Why doesn't this short php script send email?

    - by RoryG
I can't seem to get my php script to send email. <?php echo "Does this page work?"; mail('my email address', 'test subject', 'test message'); ?> First, I have set the mail function settings in the php.ini file as follows: I checked my email account settings on outlook. It does not require authentication, its port is 25, and its type of encrypted connection is 'Auto'. Given this I configured my php.ini file accordingly: SMTP = ssl://smtp1.iis.com smtp_port = 25 Then I set: sendmail_from: my email address The echo statement prints out in the browser, so I know the php file is recognized and processed. But the browser also shows the following error: Warning: mail() [function.mail]: "sendmail_from" not set in php.ini or custom "From:" header missing in C:\xampp\htdocs\mailtest.php on line 3 I have clearly set the sendmail_from so I don't know what else to do. I have also tried removing the 'ssl://' part from the SMTP setting in the php.ini file, and configuring the php5.ini file. Which of these .ini files should I be configuring anyways?

  • Why is the upgrade manager freezing when upgrading to 13.10

    - by Nil
Earlier today I started to upgrade to 13.10 only to return much much later and notice that the update manager was still running. It seems to be frozen and I am reluctant to hit ctrl+C. I can't launch nautilus using the icon on the launcher. When I try to run it via the terminal, this is what happens: $ nautilus Could not register the application: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod: No such interface `org.gtk.Actions' on object at path /org/gnome/Nautilus My printers aren't showing up when I attempt to print. I don't know whether these a symptoms of the same problem. Should I let the update manage continue to run, or should I shut it down? Here are the processes running if it is any help: $ ps aux USER PID %CPU %MEM VSZ RSS TTY STAT START TIME COMMAND root 1 0.0 0.2 5920 4072 ? Ss Oct18 0:02 /sbin/init root 2 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? • How to find and fix issue with Pound and HAProxy

    - by javano
Pound sits in front of HAProxy (on the same box) to perform SSL off-load. Requests are passed to 127.0.0.1:80 where HAProxy then balances the requests across backend servers for a hosted ASP .NET web app. A user is getting HTTP error 500 (Internal Server Error) returned to their browser this morning and I can see it is comming from Pound. They see no log entry in their web app (IIS) server logs, so its not hitting the back end servers. I think the problem is possibly with HAProxy. Lets review the logs: Initialy the users (1.2.3.4) hits Pound on the load balancer: Nov 12 10:02:24 lb1 pound: a-website.com 1.2.3.4 - - [12/Nov/2012:10:02:23 +0000] "POST /eventmanagement/EditEvent.aspx?eventOid=623fc423-2329-4cab-8be5-72a97709570d HTTP/1.1" 200 155721 "https://a-website.com/eventmanagement/EditEvent.aspx?eventOid=623fc423-2329-4cab-8be5-72a97709570d" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/22.0.1229.96 Safari/537.4" Nov 12 10:02:24 lb1 pound: a-website.com 1.2.3.4 - - [12/Nov/2012:10:02:24 +0000] "GET /Controls/ReferringOrganisationLogoImageHandler.ashx HTTP/1.1" 200 142 "https://a-website.com/eventmanagement/EditEvent.aspx?eventOid=623fc423-2329-4cab-8be5-72a97709570d" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/22.0.1229.96 Safari/537.4" Nov 12 10:02:24 lb1 pound: a-website.com 1.2.3.4 - - [12/Nov/2012:10:02:24 +0000] "GET /eventmanagement/WebCoreModule.ashx?__ac=1&__ac_wcmid=RAWCIL&__ac_lib=Radactive.WebControls.ILoad&__ac_key=RAWVCO_11&__ac_sid=fnoz2hmvirfivb2btbubbw45&__ac_cn=&__ac_cp=BVDXDWFLDWFMHDFJBOEGBDFLFOD5EEFD&__ac_fr=634883113445054092&__ac_ssid= HTTP/1.1" 200 11206 "https://a-website.com/eventmanagement/EditEvent.aspx?eventOid=623fc423-2329-4cab-8be5-72a97709570d" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/22.0.1229.96 Safari/537.4" Nov 12 10:02:24 lb1 pound: a-website.com 1.2.3.4 - - [12/Nov/2012:10:02:24 +0000] "GET /eventmanagement/WebCoreModule.ashx?__ac=1&__ac_wcmid=RAWCIL&__ac_lib=Radactive.WebControls.ILoad&__ac_key=RAWCCIL_11&__ac_sid=fnoz2hmvirfivb2btbubbw45&__ac_cn=&__ac_cp=BVDXDWFLDWFMHDFJBOEGBDFLFOD5EEFD&__ac_fr=634883113445054092 HTTP/1.1" 200 43496 "https://a-website.com/eventmanagement/EditEvent.aspx?eventOid=623fc423-2329-4cab-8be5-72a97709570d" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/22.0.1229.96 Safari/537.4" Nov 12 10:02:42 lb1 pound: (7f819fff8700) e500 for 1.2.3.4 response error read from 127.0.0.1:80/POST /eventmanagement/EditEvent.aspx?eventOid=623fc423-2329-4cab-8be5-72a97709570d HTTP/1.1: Connection timed out (15.121 secs) Above we can see the request comming in from the user at IP address 1.2.3.4, eventually Pound returns error 500 with the message "Connection timed out (15.121 secs)". • Postgresql has broken apt-get on Ubuntu

    - by Raphie Palefsky-Smith
On ubuntu 12.04, whenever I try to install a package using apt-get I'm greeted by: The following packages have unmet dependencies: postgresql-9.1 : Depends: postgresql-client-9.1 but it is not going to be instal led E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a so lution). apt-get install postgresql-client-9.1 generates: The following packages have unmet dependencies: postgresql-client-9.1 : Breaks: postgresql-9.1 (< 9.1.6-0ubuntu12.04.1) but 9.1.3-2 is to be installed apt-get -f install and apt-get remove postgresql-9.1 both give: Removing postgresql-9.1 ... * Stopping PostgreSQL 9.1 database server * Error: /var/lib/postgresql/9.1/main is not accessible or does not exist ...fail! invoke-rc.d: initscript postgresql, action "stop" failed. dpkg: error processing postgresql-9.1 (--remove): subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 1 Errors were encountered while processing: postgresql-9.1 E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) So, apt-get is crippled, and I can't find a way out. It supports a large part of the SQL standard and is designed to be extensible by users in many aspects. Some of the features are: ACID transactions, foreign keys, views, sequences, subqueries, triggers, user-defined types and functions, outer joins, multiversion concurrency control. Graphical user interfaces and bindings for many programming languages are available as well. . This package provides the database server for PostgreSQL 9.1. • Authenticate Teamcity against LDAP using TLS

    - by aseq
I am running a 6.5 version of Teamcity on a Debian Squeeze server and I use OpenLDAP to authenticate users. I know I can use SSL to be able to use encrypted password authentication, however this has been deprecated by the OpenLDAP developers, see: http://www.openldap.org/faq/data/cache/605.html I would like to know if there is a way to configure LDAP authentication in Teamcity to use TLS on port 389. I can't find anything about it here: http://confluence.jetbrains.net/display/TCD65/LDAP+Integration Or here: http://therightstuff.de/2009/02/02/How-To-Set-Up-Secure-LDAP-Authentication-With-TeamCity.aspx

  • SquirrelMail (Courier) IMAP Issue

    - by Nik
Alright, so I'm having this issue with SquirrelMail and Courier IMAP. When I try to login to SM, it throws this error at me: ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server. The IMAP server is running on 993 without SSL (which might be the problem). How do I fix this, and I've already taken a look at the official documentation in relation to this error with no fix.

    - by Roland
I've serveral backends (one is nginx+passenger) to combine via ESI. Since I don't want to go without gzip/deflate and SSL varnish can't do the job out of the box. So I thought about the following setup: http://img693.imageshack.us/img693/38/esinginx.png What do you think? overkill?

  • Jabber/XMPP Client for BlackBerry

    - by SpaceManSpiff
Hello All, I am looking for a Jabber/XMPP client for BlackBerry that I can use with our OpenFire server. It needs to be able to use the Secure connection from OpenFire either the SSL or TLS. It needs to be a direct connection to our server, no 3rd party sever in the middle It needs to be free. I have tested and JiveTalk works great and we'll use it if I can't find another one, we're just trying to find a free one. Thanks
