• NSMutableURLRequest wont turn on 3G

  I won't bother posting any code because my code works fine when I launch Safari or something that turns on the 3G connection first. When I put it Airport mode, then put back OFF, I will get the behavior of a connection error saying No internet connection with NSMutableURLRequest. I've personally mailed apple about how the Ant gets turned on and off, and they said anything that uses their base CFSocketStream object will turn on the Ant, and I quote: "such as NSURLRequest".. BSD Sockets do not, just so everyone knows.. However, I assumed NSMutableURLRequest would fall into the category of 'Does', but it seems like it doesnt. It never succeeds for me when I cycle Airport or have the phone idle for a long time. It will ALWAYS succeed when I open any other network app first to turn the Ant on. Shall I be forced to do a dummy NSURLRequest call to turn this on; or has anyone been able to get this class working just fine? Remember this is just an implementation of NSMutableURLRequest to upload a file Async, and no other Network operations are performed anywhere; no ads, no version checks, no nothing.

• Object created in Interface Builder getting dealloc'ed too soon

  The Project I'm working on a relatively simple iPhone OS project that's navigation controller based, with a root table view and a detail table view. Tap an item in the main list to see its details in a pushed table view. The Setup I broke out the data source for both views into their own objects so as not to muddy the purpose of a view controller. Having done this, the table views no longer have data sources since those methods are now in separate files, so I created an instance of each data source class in the appropriate XIB files with the Object item (dragged it in, then set its class). Then, to actually connect the tableviews to their data sources, I set the dataSource outlet of each tableview to the yellow data source object in Interface Builder. The table view delegates are still set to their view controllers. The Problem The root table view works just fine, but when you tap a row to push to the detail view, the data source object gets instantiated as expected, then immediately dealloc'ed, causing a crash (numberOfSectionsInTableView: gets called on the freed object). I can't figure out why the data source is getting automatically dealloc-ed when I need it right then and there for the detail view, as indicated by my data source object creation and tableview connection in Interface Builder. What's more perplexing is that the very approach works fine for the root tableview! The Question Is there anything obvious I'm missing that would cause this to happen? Or, is this even the right way to instantiate a data source for a table view controller? It seems like poor object oriented programming to do it from within the view controller, which should only be concerned with the view. I could cram everything in two table view controller classes and it would probably work, but it would not be as modular as I'd like. Thanks!

  Hello, I am writing an Apache module in C++. I need to store the common data that all childs need to read as a portion of shared memory. Structure is kind of map of vectors, so I want to use STL map and vectors for it. I have written a shared allocator and a shared manager for the purpose, they work fine for vectors but not for maps, below is the example: typedef vector<CustomersData, SharedAllocator<CustomersData> > CustomerVector; CustomerVector spData; //this one works fine typedef SharedAllocator< pair< const int, CustomerVector > > PairAllocator; typedef map< int, CustomerVector, less<int>, PairAllocator > SharedMap; SharedMap spIndex; //this one doesn't work I get compile time errors when I try to use the second object (spIndex), which are someting like: ../SpatialIndex.h:97: error: '((SpatialIndex*)this)-SpatialIndex::spIndex' does not have class type It looks like the compiler cannot determine a type for SharedMap template type, which is strange in my opinion, it seems to me that all the template parameters have been specified. • Does DefaultAppPool run with special elevated privilegs on IIS?

  I'm running a piece of code within a web page that queries the IIS metabase using ADSI. The code is as simple as this: DirectoryEntry iisNode = new DirectoryEntry("/LM/W3SVC/1/ROOT/MyAspWebsite-1-128886021498831845"); foreach (DirectoryEntry de in iisNode.Parent.Children) { System.Console.WriteLine(de.Name); } This works fine when I run the page/site under the DefaultAppPool on IIS7/W2K8. However when I create my own app pool and leave the properties the same as the default app pool, this code fails with the following error: Caught: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException Failed to parse virtual directory: /LM/W3SVC/1/ROOT/MyAspWebsite-1-128889542757187500 System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80070005): Access is denied. What special privileges does the DefaultAppPool have? I don't see any documented. I need this to work in non default app pools, but without giving the entire worker process elevated privileges. I've also tried using the username and password parameters of the DirectoryEntry constructor, by using the Admin on the machine that IIS7 is running on, but that didn't change anything. I'll also note that this works fine on IIS6 and W2K3. Any help is appreciated.

  Hi, I'm trying to calculate a distance between two sets of coordinate points in an iPhone application on the fly using - (CLLocationDistance)getDistanceFrom:(const CLLocation *)location I saw that I started getting NaN's in strange places, thus investigated the matter up close, with the following hardcoded values. CLLocationDistance testDistance; placeLocation = [[CLLocation alloc] initWithLatitude:12.236533 longitude:11.011419]; userLocation = [[CLLocation alloc] initWithLatitude:12.236533 longitude:11.011419]; testDistance = [userLocation getDistanceFrom:placeLocation]; if(isnan(testDistance)) NSLog(@"ISNaN!"); [placeLocation release]; [userLocation release]; The above gets called multiple times, and in some situations the testDistance is NaN. I fear I'm missing something very simple here. Anyone have any idea? UPDATE 1: Ok, so I've moved the above code into a new project (put everything in the app delegate), looped it for 100 times and all is fine. This thus suggests that the problem is project related, but this helps very little... since all the variables are in the scope of 1 function. THE SOLUTION: OK, this seems to be a simulator bug. The same code build runs perfectly fine on the device. Case solved.

• Getting Safari document title/location with Scripting Bridge does not work in full-screen mode

  I'm trying to get the URL and document title from the topmost Safari document/tab. I have an AppleScript and an objective-c version using Apple's Scripting Bridge framework. Both versions work fine for most web pages, however when I open a Youtube video in full-screen mode, the Scripting Bridge based version fails. The Apple Script works fine for "normal" and full-screen Safari windows. Can anyone see what is wrong with the Scripting Bridge code below to cause it to fail for full-screen Safari windows? • Web Service Client in JBOSS 5.1 with JDK6

I am trying to use jdk6 to run JBOSS 5.1, and I downloaded the JDK6 version of JBOSS 5.1. This works fine and my EAR application deploys fine. If I change the JDK that my the code above is running under from JDK6 to JDK5, the exception above goes away! It's really strange. The only way I found for the code above to run under JDK6 was to take the JBOSS_HOME/lib/endorsed folder and copy it to JDK6_HOME/lib. This seems like it shouldn't be necessary, but it is. Is there any other way to make this work other than using the workaround I just described?

• COM AddIn for Outlook Tries to Install Self on Startup

  Hi, I have an outlook addin that I have been developing for some time now, and am experiencing a problem. If I have a computer with two 'administrator' users (call them User A and User B), the addin installs and runs just fine as long as the same user tries to run it. In other words, if User A installs the addin, then User A has no problem using. The strange behavior comes in when we see the following scenario: User A installs the addin (for all users), User B launches outlook and observes that the addin is trying to install itself yet again. If User B cancels out of the 'install', he can then go and use the addin just fine. Right now, I use office's registry key propagation to do an 'all users' install, and I inspected the registry for any duplications and found none. I even used the officeins tool to try and detect if there was any duplication going on, and found none. I'm really bewildered as to why the addin would try to install itself over and over again. Does anyone know why this might be happening?

  I am trying to use the cx_Oracle module with python 2.6.6 on ubuntu Maverick, with Oracle 11gR2 Enterprise edition. I am able to connect to my oracle db just fine, but once I do that, the subprocess module does not work anymore. Here is an iPython session that reproduces the problem... I don't know if cx_Oracle is. Moreover, the above issue mentions that adding a time.sleep(1) fixes it, but it didn't help me. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

First stored procedure checks wether the email address already exists in database.Second one inserts the user supplied data into mysql database. • Crystal Reports Failed Database Login

  Hello, After spending a good 3 to 4 hours on google trying to find any solution to my problem I haven't had much luck. Basically, we use crystal reports for our .NET applications with a sql server back end, we have many clients each with their own server and so our reports need to have their connections dynamically set. Up until a week ago this worked fine. However a few days ago a client reported they were getting a database login prompt for a report (only one report, the rest worked fine). We were quite stumped but we managed to reproduce it on a netbook which didn't have visual studio or sql server installed. In the end the dev decided to reproduce the report in the hope it was just an oddity in that particular report. Unfortunately a new client today also experienced the same problem, but this time for every crystal report they had - and also they worked on the netbook, so we are really quite lost here. When I take it away, it's fine. So i tried just adding a harmless statement, int i = 0; (maked // HERE *******), and that makes the lighting not work! When I take it away, everything is fine, but when I put it back, everything is dark. Can someone come up with a rational explanation for this? Thanks.

• MVC nhibernate entiry mapping for dropdown list

  Hi, I have a dropdown list on an ASP.NET MVC project that I am pretty sure is not binding to my model because of my nhibernate mapping. I have tried many variations on the asp mvc side resulting in this post here. MVC side of things seems fine I believe the issue may be that my object is trying to bind, but my mapping is out of whack. My mapping is: <many-to-one name="Project" lazy="false" class="AgileThought.ERP.Domain.Property.Project" column="ProjectGUID" /> My View gives an error saying that the GUID from the dropdownList selected value is not valid. Which I think may be that it is trying to push the GUID into my related project object. The value 'fd38c877-706f-431d-b624-1269184eeeb5' is invalid. My related project list binds to the dropdown list just fine, it is just not binding to my models Project entity. Does the related Project entity need to know about its relationship? • Delphi - Populate an imagelist with icons at runtime 'destroys' transparency

  Hi again, I've spended hours for this (simple) one and don't find a solution :/ I'm using D7 and the TImageList. The ImageList is assigned to a toolbar. When I populate the ImageList at designtime, the icons (with partial transparency) are looking fine. But I need to populate it at runtime, and when I do this the icons are looking pretty shitty - complete loose of the partial transparency. I just tried to load the icons from a .res file - with the same result. I've tried third party image lists also without success. I have no clue what I could do :/ Thanks 2 all ;) edit: To be honest I dont know exactly whats going on. Alpha blending is the correkt term... Here are 2 screenies: Icon added at designtime: Icon added at runtime: Your comment that alpha blending is not supported just brought the solution: I've edited the image in an editor and removed the "alpha blended" pixels - and now it looks fine. But its still strange that the icons look other when added at runtime instead of designtime. If you (or somebody else ;) can explain it, I would be happy ;) thanks for you support!

• django : Serving static files through nginx

  I'm using apache+mod_wsgi for django. And all css/js/images are served through nginx. For some odd, reason when others/friends/colleagues try accessing the site, jquery/css is not getting loaded for them, hence the page looks jumbled up. My html files use code like this - <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://x.x.x.x:8000/css/custom.css"/> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://1x.x.x.x:8000/js/custom.js"></script> My nginx configuration in sites-available is like this - server { listen 8000; server_name localhost; access_log /var/log/nginx/aa8000.access.log; error_log /var/log/nginx/aa8000.error.log; location / { index index.html index.htm; } location /static/ { autoindex on; root /opt/aa/webroot/; } } There is a directory /opt/aa/webroot/static/ which have corresponding css & js directories. The odd thing is that the pages show fine when I access them. I have cleared my cache/etc, but the page loads fine for me, from various browsers. Also, I don't see 404 any error in the nginx log files. Any pointers would be great.

• jeditable not updating browser display - leaves "click to edit..." after succesful edit

  I am using jeditable fairly simply and it all works fine, updates the database, etc. The only problem I have is after the user types the new value data and hits enter it doesn't update the field in the browser to show the new value - instead it puts "Click to edit..." in place of it. Am I missing something like a return value from my php file? the php fucntion just takes the args and updates the database - and it works fine. • Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e14' Could not find stored procedure

  I am migrating a classic ASP web app to new servers. The database back end is migrating from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2008, and the app is moving from Win2000 x86 to Win2003R2 x64. I am getting the above error on every single stored procedure call within the application. I have verified: Yes, the SQL user is set up, using correct username and password Yes, the SQL user has execute permissions on the stored procedures in the database Yes, I have updated the TypeLib references to the new UUID Yes, I have logged into the database via SSMS with the SQL user id and it can see and execute the stored procedures just fine in SSMS, but not from the web app. Yes, the SQL user has the database set as its default database. The most frustrating thing is it works fine on the DEV server, but not on the production server. I have gone through every IIS setting 5 or 6 times and the web app is set up precisely the same in both environments. The only difference is the database server name in the connection string (DEV vs prod) EDIT: I have also tried pointing the prod web box at the dev database server and get the same error so I'm fairly sure the issue isn't on the database side.

• Forwarding first responder to UIScrollView unsuccessful

  Hello, I am trying to create an image cropping bpx whereby the underlying image can be zoomed an scrolled while the cropping "maskview" layer stays the same and the corners can be dragged in any direction. To achieve this, the ImageView is added to a UIScrollView, and this is added to the SelectionViewController.view . I then add the cropping "maskview" layer to the SelectionViewController.view. I did this instead of adding to the scrollview so that the cropping maskview won't be expanded when the underlying image expands. @interface SelectionViewController : UIViewController <UIScrollViewDelegate> { UIImageView *photoview; // Added to self.scrollview MaskedView *maskedview; // Added to self.view UIScrollView *scrollview; // Added to self.view } The maskview has first responder status and responds accordingly. However, the only event I am interested in the maskview is if any of the corners are dragged (this works fine). The problem I want to try to solve is two-fold: If it is a pinch or zoom gesture, I am trying to forward the responder to the UIScrollview using: [self.nextResponder touchesMoved:touches withEvent:event]; The scrollview does not seem to respond. I have confirmed that the self.nextResponder after the maskedview is the SelectionViewController's view itself. From there, it doesn't seem like the UIScrollview responds. It does respond fine if I remove the cropping maskedview. If I zoom in on the underlying image and the cropping maskview rectangle is still the same, I want to now crop the actual zoomed image. Let's say for the upper left hand corner of the crop box, how can I find what the coordinates translates to in the underlying UIImageView now that the image has been zoomed? Any insight into either of these questions would be appreciated. Thank you, Winston

• Make sure <a href="local file"> is opened outside of browser

  For an Intranet web application (document management), I want to show a list of files associated with a certain customer. The resulting HTML is like this: <a href="file:///server/share/dir/somefile.docx">somefile.docx</a> <a href="file:///server/share/dir/someotherfile.pdf">somefile.pdf</a> <a href="file:///server/share/dir/yetanotherfile.txt">yetanotherfile.txt</a> This works fine. Unfortunetly, when clicking on a text file (or image file), Internet Explorer (and I guess most other browsers as well) insist on showing it in the browser instead of opening the file with the associated application (e.g. Notepad). In our case, this is undesired behavior, since it does not allow the user to edit the file. Is there some workaround to this behavior (e.g. something like <a href="file:///..." open="external">)? I'm aware that this is a browser-specific thing, and an IE-only solution would be fine (it's an Intranet application after all).

  Hi, I have a Dynamic list control of Metabuilder.Webcontrol inside UpdatePanel,I am adding removing Items using Javascript from the list control. It works fine Inside UpdatePanel. I have another control Gridview along with checkbox's which require postback to get populated. Once It gets populated successfully inside update without postback. I checked few rows and wanted to add them into List Control using Javascript. • x86_64 printf segfault after brk call

  While i was trying do use brk (int 0x80 with 45 in %rax) to implement a simple memory manager program in assembly and print the blocks in order, i kept getting segfault. After a while i could only reproduce the error, but have no idea why is this happening: .section .data helloworld: .ascii "hello world" .section .text .globl _start _start: push %rbp mov %rsp, %rbp movq $45, %rax movq $0, %rbx #brk(0) should just return the current break of the programm int $0x80 #incq %rax #segfault #addq $1, %rax #segfault movq $0, %rax #works fine? #addq $1, %rax #segfault again? movq $helloworld, %rdi call printf movq $1, %rax #exit int $0x80 In the example here, if the commented lines are uncommented, i have a segfault, but some commands (like de movq $0, %rax) work just fine. In my other program, the first couple printf work, but the third crashes... Looking for other questions, i heard that printf sometimes allocates some memory, and that the brk shouldn't be used, because in this case it corrupts the heap or something... I'm very confused, does anyone know something about that? EDIT: I've just found out that for printf to work you need %rax=0.

  Hi guys. I'm using an actionsciprt only project (under FlashDevelop) to load an .swf flex file built by another department of the company I work for. • How can I track down "Template process failed: undef error" in Perl's Template Toolkit?

  I've moved a Perl CGI app from one web host to another. Everything's running fine except for Template Tookit which is giving the following error: "Template process failed: undef error - This shouldn't happen at /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/CGI/Carp.pm line 314." The templates are working fine on the other web host. I've set the DEBUG_ALL flag when creating the template object, but it doesn't provide any additional info about errors just loads of debug output. I can't post the template source as there's lots of client specific stuff in it. I've written a simple test template and that works okay. Just wondering if anyone had seen this error before or has any ideas on the quickest way to find a fix for it. • Outlook 2010 Retrieving and restricting appointments programmatically causing recurrences to be incl

  I wrote a winforms app that uses Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook to retrieve and restrict appointments based upon the date range entered by a user. This worked fine with Outlook 2007 installed, however now that some users have updated to Outlook 2010 the appointment retrieval is pulling back incorrect appointments along with the correct ones falling within the specified date range. The additional incorrect appointments being retrieved always appear to be recurring appointments. I was wondering if this is a known bug and if so what exactly is happening that is causing these additional recurring appointments to come in? I'd rather not have to throw in a workaround where I step through the items after they have been restricted and remove the extra ones, when this functionality works fine with 2007. Note: I've not recompiled or updated any code when experiencing this issue, just running the old program. This is the spot in my code where appointments are being restricted.
