• How do I load PersistentDocuments into the same window

  I want to open NSPersistentDocuments and load them into the same window one at a time. I'm almost there but missing some steps. Hopefully someone can help me. I have a few saved documents on the hard drive. On launch my app opens to an untitled NSPersistentDocument and creates a separate NSWindowController. When I press the button to load file 1 off the hard drive the data appears in the fields but two things are wrong that I can see: 1) changing the data doesn't make the document dirty 2) choosing save updates the persistentstore (I know this because when I open the file again I see the changes) but I get an error: +entityForName: could not locate an NSManagedObjectModel for entity name 'Book' Here's my code which is in the WindowController that was launched initially with the untitled document. This code isn't perfect. For example, I know I should processPendingChanges and save the current doc before I load the new one. • How to cache code in PHP?

  I am creating a custom form building system, which includes various tokens. These tokens are found using Regular Expressions, and depending on the type of toke, parsed. Some require simple replacement, some require cycles, and so forth. Now I know, that RegExp is quite resource and time consuming, so I would like to be able to parse the code for the form once, creating a php code, and then save the PHP code, for next uses. How would I go about doing this? So far I have only seen output caching. Is there a way to cache commands like echo and cycles like foreach()? Because of misunderstandings, I'll create an example. • iPhone: How to use CGContextConcatCTM for saving a transformed image properly?

  I am making an iPhone application that loads an image from the camera, and then the user can select a second image from the library, move/scale/rotate that second image, and then save the result. I use two UIImageViews in IB as placeholders, and then apply transformations while touching/pinching. The problem comes when I have to save both images together. I use a rect of the size of the first image and pass it to UIGraphicsBeginImageContext. Then I tried to use CGContextConcatCTM but I can't understand how it works: CGRect rect = CGRectMake(0, 0, img1.size.width, img1.size.height); // img1 from camera UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(rect.size); // Start drawing CGContextRef ctx = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); CGContextClearRect(ctx, rect); // Clear whole thing [img1 drawAtPoint:CGPointZero]; // Draw background image at 0,0 CGContextConcatCTM(ctx, img2.transform); // Apply the transformations of the 2nd image But what do I need to do next? What information is being held in the img2.transform matrix? The documentation for CGContextConcatCTM doesn't help me that much unfortunately.. Right now I'm trying to solve it by calculating the points and the angle using trigonometry (with the help of this answer), but since the transformation is there, there has to be an easier and more elgant way to do this, right?

• Updating database row from model

  Hey everyone, I'm haing a few problems updating a row in my database using Linq2Sql. Inside of my model I have two methods for updating and saving from my controller, which in turn receives an updated model from my view. My model methods like like: public void Update(Activity activity) { _db.Activities.InsertOnSubmit(activity); } public void Save() { _db.SubmitChanges(); } and the code in my Controller likes like: [HttpPost] public ActionResult Edit(Activity activity) { if (ModelState.IsValid) { UpdateModel<Activity>(activity); _activitiesModel.Update(activity); _activitiesModel.Save(); } return View(activity); } The problem I'm having is that this code inserts a new entry into the database, even though the model item i'm inserting-on-submit contains a primary key field. I've also tried re-attaching the model object back to the data source but this throws an error because the item already exists. Any pointers in the right direction will be greatly appreciated.   Hi, I want to able programmatically parse and edit C++ source files. I need to be able to change/add code in certain sections of code (i.e. in functions, class blocks, etc). I would also (preferably) be able to get comments as well.   After hours and hours trying to do this, I need your help. I have to models : Project and Task. A project hasMany tasks and a task belong to a project. Everyting works well if you don't use a store to save these models. I want to save both tasks and projects in two stores (TaskStore and ProjectStore). These stores use a LocalStorage proxy. • How to get JTree expanded?

  I have a wizard with several screens where user has to fill his/her details for further processing. At the second screen I have a radio group with three radio buttons that enable additional elements. To proceed, user has to choose one of them. When user selects third button, single-selection JTree filled in with data enables and user has to select an option from it. Then user has to press "Next" to get to next screen. The option he\she had selected is stored as a TreePath. So far so good. My problem is the following. If the user wants to come back from the following screen to the screen with a JTree, I want to provide him\her with the JTree expanded to the option that had been selected and to highlight the option. However, whatsoever I try to do for that (any combinations of expandPath, scrollPathToVisible, addSelectionPath, makeVisible) always provides me with a collapsed tree. I try to expand both leaves and nodes. My code looks like this: rbProcessJTree.setSelected(isProcessJTree()); if (null != getSelectedTablePath()){ trTables.addSelectionPath(getSelectedTablePath()); trTables.expandPath(getSelectedTablePath()); trTables.scrollPathToVisible(getSelectedTablePath()); } When setSelected() is called, state change listener is invoked that enables JTree. The model is loaded during the form initialization. Each time I switch between screens, I save the input data from previous screen and dispose it. Then, when I need to open previous screen back, I save data from the following screen, dispose it, load data to this screen and show it. So each time the screen is generating from scratch. Could you please explain, what sequence of operations has to be done to get JTree expanded in a newly created form,with data model loaded and selection path provided?

• JPA / Hibernate checks conditions in merge()

  Working with JPA / Hibernate in an OSIV Web environment is driving me mad ;) Following scenario: I have an entity A that is loaded via JPA and has a collection of B entities. Those B entities have a required field. When the user adds a new B to A by pressing a link in the webapp, that required field is not set (since there is no sensible default value). Upon the next http request, the OSIV filter tries to merge the A entity, but this fails as Hibernate complains that the new B has a required field is not set. javax.persistence.PersistenceException: org.hibernate.PropertyValueException: not-null property references a null or transient value Reading the JPA spec, i see no sign that those checks are required in the merge phase (i have no transaction active) I can't keep the collection of B's outside of A and only add them to A when the user presses 'save' (aka entitymanager.persist()) as the place where the save button is does not know about the B's, only about A. Also A and B are only examples, i have similar stuff all over the place .. Any ideas? Do other JPA implementaions behave the same here? Thanks in advance.

• Global name not defined error in Django/Python trying to set foreignkey

  Summary: I define a method createPage within a file called PageTree.py that takes a Source model object and a string. The method tries to generate a Page model object. It tries to set the Page model object's foreignkey to refer to the Source model object which was passed in. This throws a NameError exception! I'm trying to represent a website which is structured like a tree. I define the Django models Page and Source, Page representing a node on the tree and Source representing the contents of the page. NameError: global name 'source' is not defined When I type in the function definition for createPage into the shell by hand, the call works without error. This is driving me bonkers and help is appreciated.

  I am building wpf edit form, that has two buttons, BeginEdit and Save And the form is bound to ViewModel that inherits from Prism's NotificationObject. There is a property called IsReadOnly And there are two commands that are Prism's DelegateCommands BeginEdit command and save command The code is here private DelegateCommand _beginEdit; public DelegateCommand BeginEdit { get { return _beginEdit ?? (_beginEdit = new DelegateCommand(() => this.IsReadOnly = false , () => IsReadOnly)); } } private bool _isReadOnly; public bool IsReadOnly { get { return _isReadOnly; } set { _isReadOnly = value; RaisePropertyChanged("IsReadOnly"); } } private DelegateCommand _saveEdit; public DelegateCommand SaveEdit { get { return _saveEdit ?? (_saveEdit = new DelegateCommand(() => this.IsReadOnly = true , () => !IsReadOnly)); } } So, as you see, the command will set IsReadOnly property to true or false, and CanExecute should get its value from the same property as well. It works when I start the form. But after I press BeginEdit, the buttons stays as the same, and the canExecute is not reflecting the new value of IsReadOnly

• Why cant Git merge file changes with a modified parent/master.

  I have a file with one line in it. I create a branch and add a second line to the same file. Save and commit to the branch. I switch back to the master. And add a different, second line to the file. Save and commit to the master. So there's now 3 unique lines in total. If I now try and merge the branch back to the master, it suffers a merge conflict. Why cant Git simple merge each line, one after the other? My attempt at merge behaves something like this: PS D:\dev\testing\test1> git merge newbranch Auto-merging hello.txt CONFLICT (content): Merge conflict in hello.txt Automatic merge failed; fix conflicts and then commit the result. • How can I retain the data stored in plist from UITextField when application is restarted ?

  I am using the plist to store the data entered in the UITextFields. But, when I restart my application all the data entered previously was deleted. How can I retain the data in the Plist. I have a UITableView and when a cell is touched a view appears with two UITextFields. nameField and descriptionField. I stored the data in this way. • How can I write to a single xml file from two programs at the same time?

  We recently started working with XML files, after many years of experience with the old INI files. My coworker found some CodeProject sample code that uses System.Xml.XmlDocument.Save. We are getting exceptions when two programs try to write to the same file at the same time. System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file 'C:\Test.xml' because it is being used by another process. This seems obvious in hindsight, but we had not anticipated it because accessing INI files via the Win32 API does not have this limitation. I assume there's some arbitration done by the Win32 calls that work at a higher level than the the XmlDocument.Save method. I'm hoping there are higher level XML routines somewhere in the .Net library that work similarily to the Win32 functions, but don't know where to start looking. Or maybe we can set up our file access permissions to allow multiple programs to write to the same file? Time is short (like almost all SW projects), and if we can't find a solution quickly, we'll have to hold our noses and go back to INI files.

• Saving form values to database after a user logs in

  Hi. We have a form with ratings to submit for a certain restaurant. After the user has entered some values and wants to submit them, we check whether the user is logged in or not. If not, we display a login form and let the user put in his account data and redirect him to the restaurant he wanted to submit a rating for. The problem is, that after he successfully logged in himself, the submitted values are not saved to the database (which works fine if the user is already logged in). So I wondered if it is possible, to somehow save the data although the user is not logged in. I thought of maybe saving the filled values in a variable and have then automatically re-entered after we redirected the user. But I guess this wont work because we use before_filter :login_required, :only => [ :create ] So we couldnt even access the filled in values, since we display the login-form before the method has processed the values in the form, right? Any idea how we can make rails to save the values or at least have them automatically re-entered to the form? Thanks!

• Inline form editing on client side

  I see some web sites use dynamic forms(I am not sure about how to call them!) to edit a group of data. For example: there is a group of data such as name, last name, city, country.etc. when user clicks on EDIT button, instead of doing postback, a form, consisisting of 2 textboxes + 2 comboboxes, dynamically opens to edit,And then when you click on Save button, edit form disappears, and all data updates.. Now, I know what happens over here is using Ajax for server calls and some javascript for dom manipulation.. I even found some jquery plugins for textbox editing.. However, I could not found anything for full implementation of form fields. Therefore I have implemented it on asp.net by jquery ajax calls and dom manipulation manually. here is my process: 1) when Edit button clicked: Make a ajax call to server to retrieve necessary formedit.aspx 2) it returns editable form fields with values assigned. 3) when Save button clicked: make ajax call to server to retrieve formupdateprocess.aspx page. it basically do the database updates and then return necessary DOM snipplet (...) to insert current page.. well it works but MY PROBLEM, is performance.. Result seems slower than samples I see in other sites.:(( IS there anything that I dont know? a better way to implement this??

  I have django application, running under lighttpd via fastcgi. FCGI running script looks like: python manage.py runfcgi socket=<path>/main.socket method=prefork \ pidfile=<path>/server.pid \ minspare=5 maxspare=10 maxchildren=10 maxrequests=500 \ I use SQLite. So I have 10 proccess, which all work with the same DB. Next I have 2 views: def view1(request) ... obj = MyModel.objects.get_or_create(id=1) obj.param1 = <some value> obj.save () def view2(request) ... obj = MyModel.objects.get_or_create(id=1) obj.param2 = <some value> obj.save () And If this views are executed in two different threads sometimes I get MyModel instance in DB with id=1 and updated either param1 or param2 (BUT not both) - it depends on which process was the first. (of course in real life id changes, but sometimes 2 processes execute these two views with same id) The question is: What should I do to get instance with updated param1 and param2? I need something for merging changes in different processes. One decision is create interprocess lock object but in this case I will get sequence executing views and they will not be able to be executed simultaneously, so I ask help

• Editable, growable DataGrid that retains values on postback and updates underlying DataTable

  I'm trying to create an ASP.NET/C# page that allows the user to edit a table of data, add rows to it, and save the data back to the database. For the table of data, I'm using a DataGrid whose cells contain TextBoxes or CheckBoxes. I have a button for adding rows (which works) and a button for saving the data. However, I'm quite stuck on two things: The TextBoxes and CheckBoxes should retain their values on postback. So if the user edits a TextBox and clicks the button to add more rows, the edits should be retained when the page reloads. However, the edits should not be saved to the database at this point. When the user clicks the save button, or anytime before, the DataTable underlying the DataGrid needs to be updated with the values of the TextBoxes and CheckBoxes so that the DataTable can be sent to the database. I have a method that does this, but I can't figure out when to call it. Any help getting this to work, or suggestions of alternative user interfaces that would behave similarly, would be appreciated.

• How do I execute queries upon DB connection in Rails?

  I have certain initializing functions that I use to set up audit logging on the DB server side (ie, not rails) in PostgreSQL. At least one has to be issued (setting the current user) before inserting data into or updating any of the audited tables, or else the whole query will fail spectacularly. I can easily call these every time before running any save operation in the code, but DRY makes me think I should have the code repeated in as few places as possible, particularly since this diverges greatly from the ideal of database agnosticism. Currently I'm attempting to override ActiveRecord::Base.establish_connection in an initializer to set it up so that the queries are run as soon as I connect automatically, but it doesn't behave as I expect it to. However, the code never seems to get called, because any attempt to run a save or an update on a database object fails as I predicted earlier. If this isn't a proper way to execute code immediately on connection to the database, then what is?

• FluentNHibernate error -- "Invalid object name"

  I'm attempting to do the most simple of mappings with FluentNHibernate & Sql2005. Basically, I have a database table called "sv_Categories". I'd like to add a category, setting the ID automatically, and adding the userid and title supplied. Database table layout: CategoryID -- int -- not-null, primary key, auto-incrementing UserID -- uniqueidentifier -- not null Title -- varchar(50) -- not null Simple. My SessionFactory code (which works, as far as I can tell): _SessionFactory = Fluently.Configure().Database( MsSqlConfiguration.MsSql2005 .ConnectionString(c => c.FromConnectionStringWithKey("SVTest"))) .Mappings(x => x.FluentMappings.AddFromAssemblyOf<CategoryMap>()) .BuildSessionFactory(); My ClassMap code: public class CategoryMap : ClassMap<Category> { public CategoryMap() { Id(x => x.ID).Column("CategoryID").Unique(); Map(x => x.Title).Column("Title").Not.Nullable(); Map(x => x.UserID).Column("UserID").Not.Nullable(); } } My Class code: public class Category { public virtual int ID { get; private set; } public virtual string Title { get; set; } public virtual Guid UserID { get; set; } public Category() { // do nothing } } And the page where I save the object: public void Add(Category catToAdd) { using (ISession session = SessionProvider.GetSession()) { using (ITransaction Transaction = session.BeginTransaction()) { session.Save(catToAdd); Transaction.Commit(); } } } I receive the error Invalid object name 'Category'. I think it might be that I haven't told the CategoryMap class to use the "sv_Categories" table, but I'm not sure how to do that. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

• C#: Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture not working consistently

  I've been working on a pet project on the weekends to learn more about C# and have encountered an odd problem when working with localization. To be more specific, the problem I have is with System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture. I've set up my app so that the user can quickly change the language of the app by clicking a menu item. The menu item in turn, saves the two-letter code for the language (e.g. "en", "fr", etc.) in a user setting called 'Language' and then restarts the application. Properties.Settings.Default.Language = "en"; Properties.Settings.Default.Save(); Application.Restart(); When the application is started up, the first line of code in the Form's constructor (even before InitializeComponent()) fetches the Language string from the settings and sets the CurrentUICulture like so: public Form1() { Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = new CultureInfo(Properties.Settings.Default.Language); InitializeComponent(); } The thing is, this doesn't work consistently. Sometimes, all works well and the application loads the correct language based on the string saved in the settings file. Other times, it doesn't, and the language remains the same after the application is restarted. At first I thought that I didn't save the language before restarting the application but that is definitely not the case. When the correct language fails to load, if I were to close the application and run it again, the correct language would come up correctly. So this implies that the Language string has been saved but the CurrentUICulture assignment in my form constructor is having no effect sometimes. Any help? Is there something I'm missing of how threading works in C#? This could be machine-specific, so if it makes any difference I'm using Pentium Dual-Core CPU.

  I have a text and I write a parser for it using regular expressions and perl. I can match what I need with two empty lines (I use regexp), because there is a pattern that allows recognize blocks of text after two empty lines. But the problem is that the whole text has Introduction part and some text in the end I do not need. And I need to finish iterating over the text when INDEX word is fount or save the text in separate file. How could I implement it. Should I use next function to proceed with lines or what?
