  • ListView with Custom ArrayAdapter not updating

    - by Intelwalk
    I am currently trying to return a custom view of a textview, chrono, and checkbox. I have overriden the getView method but I am not sure if I did it correctly. I would appreciate some comments on the arrayadapter. It currently does not update in my application. Thanks! main java public class TaskTracker extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); Button addButton; addButton=(Button)findViewById(R.id.button1); ListView myListView= (ListView)findViewById(R.id.listView1); final EditText myEditText= (EditText)findViewById(R.id.editText1) ; //final ArrayList<String> taskitems = new ArrayList<String>(); final TTAdapterView aa = new TTAdapterView(this); // aa = new ArrayAdapter<String>(this, 0); myListView.setAdapter(aa); addButton.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener(){ public void onClick(View v){ aa.add(myEditText.getText().toString()); //taskitems.add(count, myEditText.getText().toString()); aa.notifyDataSetChanged(); myEditText.setText(""); myEditText.requestFocus(); } }); } } ArrayAdapter public class TTAdapterView extends ArrayAdapter<String> { public View v; public TTAdapterView(Context context){ super(context,R.layout.row); } @Override public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent){ this.v = convertView; if(v==null){ LayoutInflater vi = (LayoutInflater)getContext().getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE); v = vi.inflate(R.layout.row, null); } return v; }

  • Workflow Foundation (WF) -- Why does setting a DependencyProperty to a COM object using SetValue() t

    - by stakx
    Assume that I have a .NET Workflow Foundation (WF) SequenceActivity class with the following property: public IWorkspace Workspace { get; set; } // ^^^^^^^^^^ // important: this is a COM interface type! public static DependencyProperty WorkspaceProperty = DependencyProperty.Register( "Workspace", typeof(IWorkspace), typeof(FoobarActivity)); // <-- this activity class This activity executes some code that sets both of the above like this: this.Workspace = ...; // exact code not relevant; property set to a COM object SetValue(WorkspaceProperty, this.Workspace); The last line (which makes the call to SetValue) results in an ArgumentException for the second parameter (having the value of this.Workspace): Type […].IWorkspace of dependency property Workspace does not match the value's type System.__ComObject.                                           (translated from German, the English exception text might differ slightly) As soon as I register the dependency property with typeof(object) instead of typeof(IWorkspace) as the second parameter, the code executes just fine. However, that would result in the possibility to assign just about any value to the dependency property, and I do not want that. It seems to me that WF dependency properties don't work for COM interop objects.Does anyone have a solution to this?

  • Custom title with image

    - by Alex Volovoy
    Hi all, i'm creating custom title for activity by disabling standard one and managing everything myself. I wonder if it's possible to replace/theme standart title to my needs. I can customize size, background image, and text via themes by changing windowXYZStyle items. The only thing i couldn't find - how i can add image instead of text. I've tried requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_CUSTOM_TITLE) and assign custom layout - but it doesn't seems to work. EDIT : Here is a report of testing suggestions, code is below - result - image view is not showing up. Activity public class SettingsActivity extends PreferenceActivity { @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_CUSTOM_TITLE); getWindow().setFeatureInt(Window.FEATURE_CUSTOM_TITLE, R.layout.custom_title); super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); addPreferencesFromResource(R.xml.settings); } } XML : <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/title" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="26dip" android:paddingLeft="5dip" android:background="@drawable/titlebar_bg" android:layout_gravity="left|center" > <ImageView android:id="@+id/logo" android:src="@drawable/title_logo" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> </LinearLayout>

  • Why calling Process.killProcess(Process.myPid()) is a bad idea?

    - by Tal Kanel
    I've read some posts saying using this method is "not good", shouldn't been use, it's not the right way to "close" the application and it's not how android works... I understand and accept the fact that Android OS knows better then me when it's the right time to terminate the process, but I didn't heard yet a good explanation why it's wrong using the killProcess() method?. after all - it's part of the android API... what I do know is that calling this method while other threads doing in potential an important work (operations on files, writing to DB, HTTP requests, running services..) can be terminated in the middle, and it's clearly not good. also I know I can benefit from the fact that "re-open" the application will be faster, cause the system maybe still "holds" in memory state from last time been used, and killProcess() prevents that. beside this reason, in assumption I don't have such operations, and I don't care my application will load from scratch each run, there are other reasons why not using the killProcess() method? I know about finish() method to close an Activity, so don't write me about that please.. finish() is only for Activity. not to all application, and I think I know exactly why and when to use it... and another thing - I'm developing also games with the Unity3D framework, and exporting the project to android. when I decompiled the generated apk, I was very suprised to find out that the java source code created from unity - implementing Unity's - Application.quit() method, with Process.killProcess(Process.myPid()). Application.quit() is suppose to be the right way to close game according to Unity3d guides (is it really?? maybe I'm wrong, and missed something), so how it happens that the Unity's framework developers which doing a very good work as it seems implemented this in native android to killProcess()? anyway - I wish to have a "list of reasons" why not using the killProcess() method, so please write down your answer - if you have something interesting to say about that. TIA

  • Android Apps not working in emulator

    - by Mohit Deshpande
    None of my apps work in the emulator. I am running Ubuntu 9.10 and everytime I try to access my UI, the app crashes. All I get is an "Sorry! The application ... has stopped unexpectedly". For EVERY app this happens. package com.mohit.helloandroid; import android.app.TabActivity; import android.content.Intent; import android.content.res.Resources; import android.os.Bundle; import android.widget.TabHost; public class HelloAndroid extends TabActivity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); Resources res = getResources(); //Resource object to get drawables TabHost tabHost = getTabHost(); //The activity tabhost TabHost.TabSpec spec; //Reusable tab spec Intent intent; intent = new Intent().setClass(this, HelloAndroid.class); spec = tabHost.newTabSpec("artists").setIndicator("Artists", res .getDrawable(R.drawable.tab_artists)) .setContent(intent); tabHost.addTab(spec); } } I don't know how this code could possibly throw a message like that.

  • Media query from a specific folder

    - by sensei
    I would like to understand how I can use a cursor to jpg files in a folder specified in the sdcard. I'm trying to select with a cursor the jpg files in a specific folder, and I tried this: This is the code: public static Uri getRandomImage(ContentResolver resolver) { String[] projection = new String[] { BaseColumns._ID, }; String folder = "/sdcard/DCIM/Wallpaper/"; folder = folder + "%"; Uri uri = Media.EXTERNAL_CONTENT_URI; String[] whereArgs = new String[]{folder}; Cursor cursor = resolver.query(uri, projection, null, whereArgs, MediaColumns._ID); if (cursor == null || cursor.getCount() <= 0) { return null; } cursor.moveToPosition(new Random().nextInt(cursor.getCount())); return Uri.withAppendedPath(uri, cursor.getString(0)); } but this code gives me error here is the logcat: E/AndroidRuntime(11986): FATAL EXCEPTION: main E/AndroidRuntime(11986): android.database.sqlite.SQLiteException: bind or column index out of range: handle 0x26a490 E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at android.database.DatabaseUtils.readExceptionFromParcel(DatabaseUtils.java:158) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at android.database.DatabaseUtils.readExceptionFromParcel(DatabaseUtils.java:114) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at android.content.ContentProviderProxy.bulkQueryInternal(ContentProviderNative.java:330) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at android.content.ContentProviderProxy.query(ContentProviderNative.java:366) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at android.content.ContentResolver.query(ContentResolver.java:245) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at it.bisemanuDEV.slidepuzzle.SelectImagePreference.getRandomImage(SelectImagePreference.java:126) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at it.bisemanuDEV.slidepuzzle.TileView.newGame(TileView.java:156) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at it.bisemanuDEV.slidepuzzle.SlidePuzzleActivity.onOptionsItemSelected(SlidePuzzleActivity.java:377) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at android.app.Activity.onMenuItemSelected(Activity.java:2762) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at com.android.internal.policy.impl.PhoneWindow.onMenuItemSelected(PhoneWindow.java:730) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at com.android.internal.view.menu.MenuItemImpl.invoke(MenuItemImpl.java:143) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at com.android.internal.view.menu.MenuBuilder.performItemAction(MenuBuilder.java:855) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at com.android.internal.view.menu.IconMenuView.invokeItem(IconMenuView.java:532) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at com.android.internal.view.menu.IconMenuItemView.performClick(IconMenuItemView.java:122) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at android.view.View$PerformClick.run(View.java:8819) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at android.os.Handler.handleCallback(Handler.java:603) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:92) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4627) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:868) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:626) E/AndroidRuntime(11986): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method)

  • How to select and crop an image in android?

    - by Guy
    Hey, I am currently working on a live wallpaper and I allow the user to select an image which will go behind my effects. Currently I have: Intent i = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK, android.provider.MediaStore.Images.Media.EXTERNAL_CONTENT_URI); i.putExtra("crop", "true"); startActivityForResult(i, 1); And slightly under that: @Override public void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) { super.onActivityResult(requestCode, resultCode, data); if (requestCode == 1) if (resultCode == Activity.RESULT_OK) { Uri selectedImage = data.getData(); Log.d("IMAGE SEL", "" + selectedImage); // TODO Do something with the select image URI SharedPreferences customSharedPreference = getSharedPreferences("imagePref", Activity.MODE_PRIVATE); SharedPreferences.Editor editor = customSharedPreference.edit(); Log.d("HO", "" + selectedImage); editor.putString("imagePref", getRealPathFromURI(selectedImage)); Log.d("IMAGE SEL", getRealPathFromURI(selectedImage)); editor.commit(); } } When my code is ran, Logcat tells me that selectedImage is null. If I comment out the i.putExtra("crop", "true"): Logcat does not give me the null pointer exception, and I am able to do what I want with the image. So, what is the problem here? Does any one have any idea how I can fix this? Thanks, for your time.

  • jBPM 4.3 Task Notification tag being ignored

    - by user291780
    I have a task with a notification entry but no emails are being generated and no entries in logs. Emails from mail node work fine. What am I doing wrong? Do I have to do anything special to my custom AssignmentHandler impl for notifications? <mail g="216,156,80,40" name="Send email"> <to addresses="[email protected]" /> <subject>Testing the mail activity</subject> <text>This message was sent by the jBPM mail activity tester</text> <transition g="-78,-18" to="User Review" /> </mail> <task g="210,250,92,52" name="User Review"> <description>User Review Task Description</description> <assignment-handler class="com.kevinmoodley.BPMTaskAssignmentHandler"> <description>Review AI Process Failure Assignment Handler</description> </assignment-handler> <notification> <to addresses="[email protected]" /> <subject>Testing from task</subject> <text>This message was sent by the jBPM User Review task</text> </notification> <transition g="-42,-18" name="CANCEL" to="end1" /> <transition g="-42,-18" name="RESTART" to="end2" /> </task> Thanks Kevin

  • How do I get a UIView to appear instantly?

    - by matsgrip
    I'm trying to create an activity indicator in iPhone app. The problem is that I cannot get it to appear before the actual task i want it to diplay during is already done. Is there something funky about the order in which the iPhone does stuff? Here is my problematic code (in my app delegate): -(BOOL)showProgressView: (NSString *) message { self.progress = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:window.frame]; UIImageView *img = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"squircle.png"]]; [img setAlpha:0.5]; [img setFrame:CGRectMake(94, 173, 133, 133)]; UIActivityIndicatorView *spinner = [[UIActivityIndicatorView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(51.5, 51.5, 30, 30)]; spinner.activityIndicatorViewStyle = UIActivityIndicatorViewStyleWhiteLarge; [img addSubview:spinner]; [self.progress addSubview:img]; [spinner startAnimating]; [img release]; [spinner release]; [window addSubview:self.progress]; return YES; } I then call this code like this: if ([appDelegate showProgressView:@"Loading..:"]) { //My actual code loads data and stuff here but that is not important //drawCtrl is a UIViewController subclass that is instantiated here UINavigationController *navController = [appDelegate navigationController]; [navController pushViewController:drawCtrl animated:YES]; [drawCtrl release]; } The problem is that my activity indicator does not appear until the new view controller is pushed onto the navController's stack. Can I control this in some way? Thanks in advance! -Mats

  • Problems saving a photo to a file

    - by Peter vdL
    Man, I am still not able to save a picture when I send an intent asking for a photo to be taken. Here's what I am doing: Make a URI representing the pathname android.content.Context c = getApplicationContext(); String fname = c.getFilesDir().getAbsolutePath()+"/parked.jpg"; java.io.File file = new java.io.File( fname ); Uri fileUri = Uri.fromFile(file); Create the Intent (don't forget the pkg name!) and start the activity private static int TAKE_PICTURE = 22; Intent intent = new Intent(android.provider.MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE ); intent.putExtra("com.droidstogo.boom1." + MediaStore.EXTRA_OUTPUT, fileUri); startActivityForResult( intent, TAKE_PICTURE ); The camera activity starts, and I can take a picture, and approve it. My onActivityResult() then gets called. But my file doesn't get written. The URI is: file:///data/data/com.droidstogo.boom1/files/parked.jpg I can create thumbnail OK (by not putting the extra into the Intent), and can write that file OK, and later read it back). Can anyone see what simple mistake I am making? Nothing obvious shows up in the logcat - the camera is clearly taking the picture. Thanks, Peter

  • Display last picture

    - by steve
    Hi I'm inserting an image from the camera (Taking a picture) into the MediaStore.Images.Media datastore. Does anyone know how I can go about displaying the last picture taken? I used Uri image = ContentUris.withAppendedId(externalContentUri, 45); to display an image from the datastore but obviously 45 is not the correct image. I try to pass the information from the previous activity (Camera) to the display activity but I'm assuming due to the photo call back being its own thread the value never gets set. Photo code is as follows Camera.PictureCallback photoCallback = new Camera.PictureCallback() { public void onPictureTaken(byte[] data, Camera camera) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub FileOutputStream fos; try { Bitmap bm = BitmapFactory.decodeByteArray(data, 0, data.length); fileUrl = MediaStore.Images.Media.insertImage(getContentResolver(), bm, "LastTaken", "Picture"); if(fileUrl == null) { Log.d("Still", "Image Insert Failed"); return; } else { picUri = Uri.parse(fileUrl); sendBroadcast(new Intent(Intent.ACTION_MEDIA_SCANNER_SCAN_FILE, picUri)); } } catch(Exception e) { Log.d("Picture", "Error Picture: ", e); } camera.startPreview(); } };

  • Declaring Intent Filter in android

    - by Rahul Varma
    Hi, I have problem in declaring the intents on my app. I have a form with text fields and spinner. I have added a button which onClick must display Datepicker. I have declared the DatePicker as a new class and added to intent onCLick. date.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View view) { Intent i=new Intent(SendMail.this,DatePicker.class); startActivity(i); } }); In manifest i have declared <activity android:name=".DatePicker"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> Now the problem is when i click the button the whole form is getting reset and all the spinner values are getting vanished. This must be because of declaring the intent wrongly. So, can anyone specify how to declare my intent so that the DatePicker will be called on the main form iteself

  • Register filetype with the browser?

    - by Lord.Quackstar
    In Android, I am trying to make it so that the user downloads a font from the browser, and I am able to view the font when downloaded. After multiple issues, I still have one lingering one: Registering the filetype with the browser. When trying to download with the Emulator (2.1-u1), I get "Cannot download. The content is not supported on this phone". Okay, so maybe its my manifest file. Updated with this: <activity android:name=".MainActivity" android:label="MainActivity"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN"/> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER"/> <catagory android:name="android.intent.category.BROWSABLE"/> <data android:scheme="http"/> <data android:scheme="https"/> <data android:scheme="ftp"/> <data android:host="*"/> <data android:mimeType="*/*"/> <data android:pathPattern=".*zip"/> </intent-filter> </activity> Went back to the browser, and fails again. Restart the Emulator, still fails. Note that I got this format from posts here. Any suggestions on what to do?

  • Can't seem to load a webview from xml, why?

    - by Bilthon
    Well, I'm trying to follow the tutorial from http://rapidandroid.org/wiki/Graphing. But I found a problem just in the first part of it. I'll describe the problem here, I just cannot understand how this could be wrong, it's pretty simple stuff. What am I doing wrong here? First I created a xml file called statistics.xml, in it among other things I put this code: <WebView android:id="@+id/webview" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_width="fill_parent"/> Now in the activity that is supposed to display this webview I'm doing this: public class DisplayStatistics extends Activity { public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); WebView wv = (WebView) findViewById(R.id.webview); The problem arises here, as I seem to be getting null for wv whenever I test for it. Which means of course that findViewById(R.id.webview) couldn't find the view. But again, what am I doing wrong?? Of course I know I could also instantiate the webview directly from code without the need to specify it from the xml, but I was just wondering what was wrong about this way of doing it. Just in case I also added the following line in my android manifest file: <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET" /> I'm not really sure if it's necessary for displaying the webview (I think not) but I just put it there to see if that was the problem, and it turned out it isn't. Thanks Nelson

  • How to get NEW width/height of root layout in onConfigurationChanged?

    - by jboxer
    One of our views has a ScrollView as its root layout. When the device is rotated and onConfigurationChanged() is called, we'd like to be able to get the ScrollView's new width/height. Our code looks like this: @Override public void onConfigurationChanged(Configuration newConfig) { Log.d(TAG, "Width: '" + findViewById(R.id.scrollview).getWidth() + "'"); Log.d(TAG, "Height: '" + findViewById(R.id.scrollview).getHeight() + "'"); super.onConfigurationChanged(newConfig); Log.d(TAG, "Width: '" + findViewById(R.id.scrollview).getWidth() + "'"); Log.d(TAG, "Height: '" + findViewById(R.id.scrollview).getHeight() + "'"); } And the relevant section of our AndroidManifest.xml looks like this: <activity android:name=".SomeActivity" android:configChanges="keyboardHidden|orientation"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> </intent-filter> </activity> On our Droid, we expected to see the ScrollView's width go to 854 when switched into landscape, and to 480 when switched back to portrait (and the height do the equivalent switch, minus the menu bar). However, we're seeing the opposite. Here's our LogCat: // Switching to landscape: 03-26 11:26:16.490: DEBUG/ourtag(17245): Width: '480' // Before super 03-26 11:26:16.490: DEBUG/ourtag(17245): Height: '778' // Before super 03-26 11:26:16.529: DEBUG/ourtag(17245): Width: '480' // After super 03-26 11:26:16.536: DEBUG/ourtag(17245): Height: '778' // After super // Switching to portrait: 03-26 11:26:28.724: DEBUG/ourtag(17245): Width: '854' // Before super 03-26 11:26:28.740: DEBUG/ourtag(17245): Height: '404' // Before super 03-26 11:26:28.740: DEBUG/ourtag(17245): Width: '854' // After super 03-26 11:26:28.740: DEBUG/ourtag(17245): Height: '404' // After super Clearly, we're getting the portrait dimensions when we switch to landscape, and the landscape dimensions when we switch to portrait. Is there something we're doing wrong? We could get hacky and solve this, but I feel like there's a simple solution that we're missing.

  • VS2010 express beta2 - no add reference dialog, no open file/project dialogs

    - by David
    Just installed VS2010 express for Windows Phone last night. Install went smoothly. It creates a project, compiles, and deploys the app to the emulator. Here's the problem: When I try to "Add Reference" through the Project menu, I do not get the Add Reference dialog box. Same thing if I right click References in the solution explorer and click Add Reference. That's not all. "File...Open" and "File...Open Project" also fail to throw up an open file dialog box. When attempting any of these actions, the IDE quickly loses and regains focus. Even pressing a keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+O) causes the IDE to quickly lose and regain focus, but no open file dialog box appears. This is what I have tried, not particularly in this order: 1. Turned off UAC 2. Monitored file and registry access using Process Monitor during a File...Open operation. File activity showed mostly "SUCCESS" with a few "FAST IO DISALLOWED" and a few "INVALID DEVICE REQUEST" results. Registry activity showed mostly "SUCCESS" with some "NAME NOT FOUND" and a few "BUFFER OVERFLOW" results. 3. Created a new, clean Windows account to run the IDE from 4. Forced a test project to add a reference to "System.Xml.Linq" by editing the ".csproj" project file. Project failed to load in the IDE. I don't have these problems at all on 2 other Windows 7 computers with VS2010 C# express beta 2 installed. One machine is 32bit and the other 64bit, both Home Premium edition. My system: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit Other Visual Studio products installed: VS2008 C# express, VS2008 C++ express One other thing to note: Several months ago I installed the non-phone distribution of VS2010 C# express beta 2, and I had the same exact problems. Back then I chalked it up to being beta and went back to VS2008 C# express, where I do not have these issues.
