    I'd love to use something with the Gmail interface for my work (Exchange) e-mails, and I don't exactly carry enough weight to convince the entire company to switch to Google Apps. With that in mind, ss there a local, not-in-the-cloud web client that supports IMAP or POP3 and has the look and feel of Gmail's web interface? (that works on Windows XP).

  • xinet vs iptables for port forwarding performance

    I have a requirement to run a Java based web server on port 80. The options are: Web proxy (apache, nginx etc.) xinet iptables setuid The baseline would be running the app using setuid but I'd prefer not to for security reasons. Apache is too slow and nginx doesn't support keep-alives so new connections are made for every proxied request. xinet is easy to set up but creates a new process for every request which I've seen cause problems in a high performance environment. The last option is port forwarding with iptables but I have no experience of how fast it is. Of course, the ideal solution would be to do this on a dedicated hardware firewall / load balancer but that's not an option at present.

  • which collaborative tools do you use to communicate between team members

    I work for a small company and would like to set up some sort of a collaborative tool so that team members can share thoughts, upload documents...something like sharepoint maybe, but not that suffisticated. Only good option I've seen so far is joomla CMS. Just want to get an opinion of the community on which tools they have used for these purposes. I know this is not programming related but I thought stackoverflow community would be good to get an opinion on this.

  • How can I access my music anywhere?

    So here's the idea: I use multiple computers on an almost daily basis. I would like to be able to access my entire music library from any of those computers through the Internet. Is there a service or perhaps some software that would allow me to host my music "in the cloud", or in some other way access it from a different computer? I've searched for something like this and the closest I've found is the Media Player application found in Opera Unite, but that requires my home computer to be turned on at all times, which is less than ideal. I'm willing to pay, but not so much that I could just rent a private server for a lower price. Thanks in advance.

My problem is that I've upgraded to 2010 Express, but my company is not ready to buy the full version yet. Or is there a way to safely restrict each customer, despite giving full trust, to "their" space without giving them the abiliy to bring down the system or spy on other customers?

    I need to make a change on all computers in our domain. Specifically I need to make a change to the Microsoft Exchange Proxy Settings. Our users have Outlook 2010 installed. These setting can be mannually accessed from: Control Panel - Mail - E-mail Accounts - (Select Account) - Change Account - More Settings - Connection Tab - Exchange Proxy Settings I need to have both the "On fast networks" and "On slow networks" check boxes selected. Obviously the idea of asking my users to go through the process above to make these changes is not ideal. Therefore I looking for advice on how I can automatically push these setting to my user base. I have seached the registry but I have been unable to find the location that this setting is saved. Thanks for any help!

    I have a Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard and Windows 7 Pro (Bootcamp). I have encyrpted all the company computers with truecrypt and now its the Macbooks turn. Will Truecrypt only encrypt the Win 7 partition and will it disable Bootcamp, or would it install after Bootcamp, whereby after I select either the OS X or Windows partition under Bootcamp, the Truecrypt encryption for Win 7 would be activated?   • NFS or GFS for LVS 10 Server Setup

    Currently we have a 10 servers LVS hosting setup. The people we hired to set it up did not anything about GFS which was our preferred Central Storage File System Solution. As we have tight time constraint, we just told them to use whatever they were familiar with which is NFS. I have since done some research and it seems that NFS is not ideal for the type of high traffic site we are hoping to build. I couldn't find much info online about the signaficance differences between the 2. As we to setup all servers again right now, should we stick with NFS or find someone who knows how to setup GFS amd go with that. We need a setup that is highly reliable and scalable as we intend. As after initial setup is done, we expect high increases in traffic and load.

    I am looking for an instant messaging solution to facilitate communications between recovery vehicles in remote rural areas. All the vehicles have internet connections, but they are intermittent depending on location. Ideally we'd like something that has the following features: Offline messaging: messages sent to clients who are offline will be delivered when they next come online, regardless of whether the sender is still online or not. Lightweight: CPU cycles are limited on the machines in these vehicles. A bloated solution will be an issue. Client platform is primarily win32, but support for osx/linux/mobile devices would be a bonus. Non-chatty: Bandwidth is a precious commodity for us, so services which use a minimal amount are ideal. Fault tolerant: We see plenty of packetloss and high latency, so whatever we use needs to be able to function in trying network conditions. I'm not fussed if we use a hosted platform like gtalk/skype/msn/icq/whatever, and likewise I can run a server if need be. Suggestions would be appreciated!

    I'm attempting to add some of our LDAP users to a locally defined group on our RHEL server, however I get an error stating that the LDAP user is not found in /etc/passwd. What would be the best way to allow LDAP users to be added to local groups? My feeling is that this must be done manually. I could edit: /etc/group and add the LDAP group to the list. Would that be ideal?     I've inherited the backup support of some Windows server 2003 machines that used Yosemite Server backup 8.1 The company has joined the BizSpark program and want to use the license of Windows Server 2008 R2 and Exchange 2010. I've tried to email barracuda who took over Yosemite to ask this but with no success. (do you need a support contract?) I don't have a spare machine or even space for a VM to test it on, does anybody know it it will work?

The current question is, does the Direct Access role offered by Server 2012 perform the same role as Forefront Unified Access Gateway 2010 does? I'm sure there are many differences, but my primary concerns are Sharepoint publishing, ADFS proxy, reverse proxy, remote connection, and o365 syncronization.

  • How do I prevent Outlook users voting multiple times

    Using the voting buttons in Outlook 2007, apparently users can submit votes as many times as they like. (I have just now verified this behaviour.) Is there a way to restrict the uses to just one vote each? I've found a script online which claims to do this, but there's no way I can use a script like that across our company. I'm hoping it's just a configuration setting either in the outbound email, or in the user's Outlook client.

After skimming through the manual, and a few attempts at guessing how to use it, I have to say that in combination they are a near ideal example of how Not to make a UI easy to use. The GUI seems to borrow it's key combinations from vi (despite not being a text editor) and the manual seems to say more about what things do than how to do things. The closest I can find is this section that starts with the todo note: [...] do a real-world tutorial example.
