• Uploading PDF or .doc and security

  I have a script that lets the user upload text files (PDF or doc) to the server, then the plan is to convert them to raw text. But until the file is converted, it's in its raw format, which makes me worried about viruses and all kinds of nasty things. Any ideas what I need to do to minimize the risk of these unknown files. How to check if it's clean, or if it's even the format it claims to be and that it does not crash the server.

• jQuery live keydown doesn't register until second keydown

  Hi there, I'm trying to add a class (.active) to a text field once the user starts typing. I got it to work somewhat with the following code, but for some reason the .active class is not applied immediately when the user starts typing, it's only applied after a second letter has been typed.   I have the following code, which causes Chrome and Safari to crash (Aw Snap in Chrome) jQuery(".filetree").treeview({ animated: "fast", collapsed: true, unique: true, persist: "cookie", toggle: function() { } }); If I change it to this: jQuery(".filetree").treeview({ animated: "fast", toggle: function() { } }); It doesn't crash...any ideas?

• jquery autocomplete

  Does anyone know if theres a jquery autocomplete library that works similar to the one here: http://www.thetrainline.com (try and select a station to see what i mean) The one on here is a prototype library. Basically all the ones ive found will only match characters if they appear at the beginning of a string, for example, if i typed 'ear' it would not match the word 'hear'. However this one seems to do that. If anyone has any ideas id be very grateful.

  Do you see any problem with this: I'm in ASP.net and I'm using pikachoose jquery slideshow. It works fine in IE and was working in Firefox. However, somehow it's now stopped working in firefox and firebug is giving the doctype line above out as a syntax error and $ is not defined for the jquery script? Any ideas Thanks Andy

  This great SO answer points to a good sparse solver, but I've got constraints on x (for Ax = b) such that each element in x is >=0 an <=N. The first thing which comes to mind is an QP solver for large sparse matrices. Also, A is huge (around 2e6x2e6) but very sparse with <=4 elements per row. Any ideas/recommendations?

• Is it worth while to hide/obfuscate server connections in an iPhone app? If so how?
