Viewing the full Skype chat history

I have Skype 2.8 on Mac OS X 10.5.8. Under the the chat menu is an option called "Recent Chats". This allows me to see logs of recent chats, but not of older ones. I know the older ones are stored because they are in ~/Library/Application Support/Skype/username/chatmsg256.dbb. This file when put in a text editor has text chat information from all my previous Skype chats. It is however stored in an unknown file format that I do not know how to parse. Does Skype have a built-in log viewer (like Adium's) that I can use to access these older logs?

OLTP Sql Server RAID configuration with 10 disks, allocation Unit and disk stripe size

On a new db server I only have 10 disks to play with, The usage is about a booking every 3-5 seconds, so not high volume, I know compromises have to be made, but my initial thoughts are - DISK 1 & 2 - RAID 1 - OS DISKS 3,4,5,6 - RAID 10 - Data, Indexes & TempDB DISKS 7,8,9,10 - RAID 10 - Logs & Backup Full backups will take place when there is virtually no traffic on the website so not bothered about the contention with the logs. disk 3-10 - 8kb NTFS unit allocation size disk 3-10 - 64kb Disk Stripe size does this seems to be sensible, any other considerations I have omitted ? thanks

Redirect To Domain Before SSL Is Read

I had to switch servers and I want to redirect all SSL urls to the non-ssl site. Set maximum requests per IP in IIS7

I have a web site deployed to IIS 7. One page it is has 15+ .js files linked to it. Last two files referenced in <head> tag (loaded last) get 403 forbidden response from server. I have enabled FailedRequestTracing and have been able to see a detailed error code which is 403.502. I suppose over a very short period of time I am just pulling to much and the IIS blocks me. Is there a way I can configure the limit to enable larger number of requests and get rid of 403.502 error?

Sharepoint database connection issue after upgrade to SQL Server 2008 R2

I took a backup of all our Sharepoint WSS 3.0 databases and restored them to a new Windows 2008 R2 server. The new SQL server has the same name and IP address as the old one. The only difference between the two is the new one has SQL 2008 R2 and the old one has SQL 2005. When I navigate to the sharepoint url I get this error: Cannot connect to the configuration database. I checked the logs at this location: "%commonprogramfiles%/Microsoft Shared/web server extensions/12/Logs" and found this error: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication. Any ideas?

Reduce munin logging level

Munin is quite verbose, and logs a bunch of things into munin-graph.log, munin-html.log, munin-limits.log and munin-update.log at each run of munin-cron. I already reduced munin-node logging level by setting log_level 0 in munin-node.conf, and that works well. munin-node.log only gets updated when an error message is generated. However I also tried to add the same option in munin.conf, but it makes munin crash. How one can reduce the amount of logs written by munin?

FTP restrict user access to a specific folder

I have created a FTP Site inside IIS 7.5 panel. Now I have access to whole site using administrator username and password. Now, I want to let my friend access a specific folder of that FTP site. (for example, this path: \some\folder\accessible\) I can't create a whole new FTP Site for this purpose, since it says the port is being used by another website. How to create an account for my friend to have access to just an specific folder? P.S: I have read about User Isolation feature of IIS 7.5, but I couldn't find how to create a user just for FTP and set it to a custom path.

Our GoDaddy web server is drowning in temp files!!

We have a virtual dedicated server with a fairly large amount of traffic. We use GoDaddy using CPanel. We have 10GIG of space of which about 80% is not our content but logs and server utilities. Godaddy support is evasive and they are trying to encourage us to migrate to new service with 15GIG. Reviewing the large files we found the following: We have a ton old TMP files at this directory. /public_html/files/TMP/FILE_PERSISTANCE_PROVIDER: (no access) some large files in these directories. /usr/local/apache/logs/ - suphp_log (220M) - access_log (7M) - error_log (5M) /usr/local/apache/domlogs/ (no access) /usr/local/cpanel/ (no access) /usr/local/cpanel-rollback /tmp Questions: What can we safely delete or truncate? How can we change permissions on files with no access to delete? Is there utility to monitor and clean up temp files Other files/programs that we can delete? thanks!

Debian Linux server hangs after a week or so

I have 2 Debian Linux 6.0.4 servers that have a strange behaviour: after 5-7-10 days they hang. By this I mean the servers need to be restarted and before that ping won't answer. I've been struggling with this problem for a couple of months now and here's some thoughts/what I tried without being able to solve the problem. I changed the RAM on a server. Being 2 different servers I doubt that it could be something related to hardware as a 3rd identical server won't have this problem. I logged the server load and when it crashes the load is fine (quite low) I cannot find anything in the server logs, logs are fine till the server freezes. I don't have access to console unfortunately. While I have years of admin experience I have never encountered such an issue and right now I have no idea where else to investigate. If you have an idea of what I could try in order to fix the problem please share it with me:-)

SQL Server backup and restore process

Just wondering what backup processes you guys have. I am currently operating a weekly full database backup with daily differential backups. My understanding is that with such a set up, the difference between Full recovery mode and Simple recovery mode is that with Full recovery mode, I will be able to use the transaction logs to rollback my DB to a specific point in time having applied the latest differential backup. Assuming that in my scenario, the last differential backup serves as my last and ultimate 'save point', I don't see a need to rollback my DB even further back using the logs. This brings me to my question: Is there any additional benefits to be had using a Full recovery mode for my current backup process?

php.ini date.timezone usefulness?

I'm not sure if this is a question for serverfault or stackoverflow but it seems like it has a lot to do with server config. We have a server in chicago and the server's clock is on chicago time. But since the business is located in California, it would seem to make sense to use pacific time. What happens when server time is Chicago, and php.ini directive date.timezone is set to "America/Los_Angeles"? How will that affect logs written to mysql, error logs, etc? I've looked at the Apache error log and, as I expected, the php directive does not affect it. Times are all servertime. Thanks.

inetmgr missing after vista iis7 install

I have installed IIS7 on Vista with all options from Programs and Features->Turn on/off windows features. I have searched for inetmgr accross the whole system with no luck. It is also not present in C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv. The IIS Admin Service is shown as running in the list of all services. Might anyone know what the problem is? My initial problem before this was that after installing IIS and trying to view any arbitrary page via localhost/*filename*, i recieved the error HTTP Error 404.4 - Not Found The resource you are looking for does not have a handler associated with it.

Unresponsive virtual OS

Hopefully someone has a suggestion on how to resolve this. Configuration Host: Win 2003R2 w/Virtual Server 2005R2 Virtual1: Win 2003R2 w/Sql Server 2005 Virtual2: Win 2003R2 w/WSS 3.0 Situation This past weekend the power went out and took down the servers (no UPS, it's a desktop standing in as dev testing server). Since the servers went down the Virtual2 server after running WSS fairly heavily for an hour to two will become unresponsive via HTTP. If I login via virtual server's remote control I don't get anything beyond a background screen. The CPU counter on the virtual server's master status shows that it isn't doing anything. The only thing I have been able to do is to turn off Virtual2, which loses any state changes. Shutdown commands issue from the virtual server master status are ignored. After restarting Virtual2 the event logs and application logs don't indicate what caused the problem. Anyone have an idea as to how to repair the OS, or maybe what could be the problem? Hyperic HQ metrics not working

I am having a problem with Hyperic HQ. Several metrics, some in IIS 6.x (Request Execution Time, Request Wait Time) and some in .NET 2.0 (Bytes in all Heaps, Exceptions Thrown per Minute), always show 0. If I view perfmon on the server itself I can see that the counters have values greater than zero. There are some metrics that work fine, such as Total Get Requests per Minute and the other IIS defaults. I have looked in the server logs but nothing obvious shows up. Please advise. Am happy to find more information if required.

Apache Configuration Issue - website without www going to default site

Host a subdomain from an IIS7 server on another server

I am running a network with two server, one running SBS 2008 which hosts a majority of the network services (DNS, DHCP, Exchange, IIS, DC, AD...), including the primary webpage at mydomain.com. The other server is a linux box running an apache web server. I'm trying to set the apache server to host the site site2.mydomain.com. I have changed the DNS settings on the first server so that site2.mydomain.com can be accessed from the internal network, but I cannot access site2.mydomain.com from the internet. I have tried using server farms and application request routing cache, as described on this page, http://forums.iis.net/t/1156458.aspx, but I still can't access site2.mydomain.com from the internet. I don't have much experience with web servers, I usually just administer local networks, so I'm not sure if I'm going about this the right way. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

How to start wuala on the linux commandline with auto login

When i start wuala on the linux commandline like this, it logs me in and the folder is mounted: wualamcd login username password enableAutoLogin I can shut it down from another console typing wuala shutdown But how do I actually use the auto login that I just set using the enableAutoLogin switch? What is the command to start it again, so it logs in but does not need the password? I tried wualamcd login and wuala starts but no one gets logged in. Auto login in gui mode works fine. This is 32 bit linux with openjdk 6 JRE.

Folder Redirection won't load on Windows 7 Machine in Windows 2008 R2 Network

Okay so redirected profiles don't load exactly, but the computer is joined to the network and it won't display any of the users files on their desktop that are in their redirected profile. I know this because we have a Terminal Server and when the user logs in there, her files appear. I checked the users' profile in Active Directory Users and Computers and compared it with a working users profile. When that didn't turn up any differences, I looked at her computer and found that on the Dial-in tab the Network Access Permission wasn't set to Control access through NPS Network Policy like it was on the other machines on the network; so I selected it, ran gpupdate /force on her machine and rebooted. This did not fix the issue. Is there anything else that could be preventing the redirected files on the users desktop from showing up when the user logs in?

Do these 3 crashes have something in common?

I'm running OS X 10.6.8 on a Mac Mini. I tried to install 3 applications today and all 3 installations failed. I am wondering if the failures have something in common. First I installed GraphViz. The installation succeeded, but when I try to open any .dot file, I get a dialog that says GraphViz has quit unexpectedly. Next I installed Doxygen. It installed, but when I try to launch it I get a dialog that tells me Doxywizard quit unexpectedly. After some googling I thought perhaps my system lacked QT, and that was the problem. I downloaded the Qt 4.8.4 packages and installed them. But when I try to launch qtdemo.app, or any of the other apps that came with the qt installation, I get a dialog that says I can't open the app because it's not supported on this type of Mac. I have crash logs from GraphViz and Doxygen. They're long and I think it unnecessary to post them unless they would help someone determine my problem. How to limit access to Exchange 2003 Mobile Activesync server by user?

So I was asked to set up an Exchange Activesync mobile gateway. That's done. It's a separat eExchange 2003 front-end server configured for SSL, and I've put an off-domain ISA server in front of it. Now I'm being asked to limit which users can connect to it. By default an Exchange front-end server allows any user who has a mail account to connect to the front -end server. So I'm looking at the permissions on the various IIS sites/apps on the server, but I know that it's easy to break Exchange Front-end server perms. So I've got the following in IIS: Exadmin Exchange EchWeb Microsoft-SErver-ActiveSync MobileAdmin OMA And a couple of others that I dont think are relevant. Can I change the permissions on one of these to restrict who can connect to Activesync? As a bonus: Can I do it in a way that does not affect ordinary browser based Exchange Access? Generating my own SQL Server SSL Certificate

I hear it's possible to make myself a test certificate with MakeCert from Windows SDK, but the beast is 1.5 GB, which I feel reluctant to download for a half-megabyte program. I do, however, have IIS Resource kit with me, which has selfssl to generate certificate for IIS. Will that work for SQL Server? Is there a more convenient way of generating myself an SSL certificate for SQL Server use? I even tried using CREATE CERTIFICATE with TSQL within SQL Server and then have it BACKUP into a file, but with no success. I must have confused the concept of certificate fundamentally. Any advice?

smallest footprint for Web Application server?

There are times when you need to spare hardware resources (either to keep using legacy hardware, to play the embedded card, or just to be efficient because a large footprint is trashing CPU caches, leading to unacceptable levels of idle-states). In this spirit, some efforts have been made to make 'light' ports of Java or Mono (C# for Linux), and they range in the 80-50 MB (instead of the 100-200 MB). Add a Web server (Apache, IIS, etc.) to the scripting engine and you can happily dive into the GB (IIS + .Net) only to load the tool in memory. Anybody with more modest tools in the specs area?

Session Variables lost between pages reloads

I was forced to move to IIS 7 when the server running our IIS 6 died. Nothing in the web app has changed, but it's obvious the environment has dramatically. The app fails between pages because the session variables are lost during redirect. I am not an expert on app pools but my impression from reading several posts is that the app pool is being recycled immediately. While they give a reason, they offer no help in how to resolve this. Can someone explain to a newb how to properly configure the DefaultAppPool?

504 Gateway Time-out after php fatal error

I'm using nginx and php-fpm to develop a symfony2 based website, under ubuntu 12.10 (yes, I know I'm using a beta OS). Everything was working out fine until, due to an error on my code, I called an unexisting function, and got the following: Fatal error: Call to a member function (....) This isn't a problem (it's a bug in my code, easily fixable), but after this, no other page loads. My browser just keeps trying to load the page from the webserver, until nginx timeouts (after +- 30s, which should be some default timeout) and returns: 504 Gateway Time-out Restarting php-fpm solves the issue. Nginx logs show a timeout message, and nothing appears on php-fpm logs, even if I set them to debug level. I tried switching from fpm to fastcgi, and the same thing happens. I've looked around, but all similar error are related to big requests/file handling, which isn't the case. All the pages on my website load in a few seconds, even under development conditions (no caching, etc).

PostgreSQL RAID configuration

I'm stuck how best to configure disk array. We have Hp P2000 G3 disk array with 24 SAS physical disks 300Gb each. We need to configure this array got 2 copies of PostgreSQL 9.2 because two different system. As we know it's recommended to store database and transaction logs(pg_xlog) files on separate disks. So we must setup 4 logical disk: 2 for transaction logs with RAID 1 2 for database with RAID 10 Is this right scheme of distribution? Or may be it is best to just make one big RAID 10 with 4 logical disks?
