  • Regular expression to match HTML table row ( <tr> ) NOT containing a specific value

    - by user1821136
I'm using Notepad++ to clean up a long and messy HTML table. I'm trying to use regular expressions even if I'm a total noob. :) I need to remove all the table rows that doesn't contain a specific value (may I call that substring?). After having all the file contents unwrapped, I've been able to use the following regular expression to select, one by one, every table row with all its contents: <tr>.+?</tr> How can I improve the regular expression in order to select and replace only table rows containing, somewhere inside a part of them, that defined substring? I don't know if this does matter but the structure of every table row is the following (I've put there every HTML tag, the dots stand for standard content/values) <tr> <td> ... </td> <td> ... </td> <td> <a sfref="..." href="...">!! SUBSTRING I HAVE TO MATCH HERE !!</a> </td> <td> <img /> </td> <td> ... </td> <td> ... </td> <td> ... </td> <td> ... </td> </tr> Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Group and sort blog posts by date in Rails

    - by Senthil
I've searched all over web and have not found the answer. I'm trying to have a very standard archive option for my blog based on date. A request to url blog.com/archive/2009 shows all posts in 2009, blog.com/archive/2009/11 shows all posts in November 2009 etc. I found two different of code but not very helpful to me. def display_by_date year = params[:year] month = params[:month] day = params[:day] day = '0'+day if day && day.size == 1 @day = day if (year && month && day) render(:template => "blog/#{year}/#{month}/#{date}") elsif year render(:template => "blog/#{year}/list") end end def archive year = params[:year] month = params[:month] day = params[:day] day = '0'+day if day && day.size == 1 if (year && month && day) @posts_by_month = Blog.find(:all, :conditions => ["year is?", year]) else @posts_by_month = Blog.find(:all).group_by { |post| post.created_at.strftime("%B") } end end Any help is appreciated.

  • How can I check if a binary string is UTF-8 in mysql?

    - by Piotr Czapla
I've found a Perl regexp that can check if a string is UTF-8 (the regexp is from w3c site). $field =~ m/\A( [\x09\x0A\x0D\x20-\x7E] # ASCII | [\xC2-\xDF][\x80-\xBF] # non-overlong 2-byte | \xE0[\xA0-\xBF][\x80-\xBF] # excluding overlongs | [\xE1-\xEC\xEE\xEF][\x80-\xBF]{2} # straight 3-byte | \xED[\x80-\x9F][\x80-\xBF] # excluding surrogates | \xF0[\x90-\xBF][\x80-\xBF]{2} # planes 1-3 | [\xF1-\xF3][\x80-\xBF]{3} # planes 4-15 | \xF4[\x80-\x8F][\x80-\xBF]{2} # plane 16 )*\z/x; But I'm not sure how to port it to MySQL as it seems that MySQL don't support hex representation of characters see this question. Any thoughts how to port the regexp to MySQL? Or maybe you know any other way to check if the string is valid UTF-8? UPDATE: I need this check working on the MySQL as I need to run it on the server to correct broken tables. I can't pass the data through a script as the database is around 1TB.

  • How can I find all attributes with single quotes in a Sublime Text 2 document and replace with double quotes?

    - by Brandon Durham
I'm feeling particularly nit-picky today. I'm working in some HTML docs that have single quotes around all attribute values through the docs, like this: <div class='classone classtwo'> I'd love to be able to do a find-and-replace in each doc and replace with double quotes, like this: <div class="classone classtwo"> Many elements in the document will have multiple attributes: <div class='classone classtwo' data-scripts='lazyload'> And some will have the correct double quotes: <div class='classone classtwo' data-scripts="lazyload"> What's the best way to replace all single quotes wrapping values with double?

  • What is the MM/DD/YYYY regular expression and how do I use it in php?

    - by zeckdude
I found the regular expression for MM/DD/YYYY at http://www.regular-expressions.info/regexbuddy/datemmddyyyy.html but I don't think I am using it correctly. Here's my code: $date_regex = '(0[1-9]|1[012])[- /.](0[1-9]|[12][0-9]|3[01])[- /.](19|20)\d\d'; $test_date = '03/22/2010'; if(preg_match($date_regex, $test_date)) { echo 'this date is formatted correctly'; } else { echo 'this date is not formatted correctly'; } When I run this, it still echoes 'this date is not formatted correctly', when it should be saying the opposite. How do I set this regular expression up in php?

  • Algorithm to match natural text in mail

    - by snøreven
I need to separate natural, coherent text/sentences in emails from lists, signatures, greetings and so on before further processing. example: Hi tom, last monday we did bla bla, lore Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisici elit, sed eiusmod tempor incidunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. list item 2 list item 3 list item 3 Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris nisi ut aliquid x ea commodi consequat. Quis aute iure reprehenderit in voluptate velit regards, K. ---line-of-funny-characters-####### example inc. 33 evil street, london mobile: 00 234534/234345 Ideally the algorithm would match only the bold parts. Is there any recommended approach - or are there even existing algorithms for that problem? Should I try approximate regular expressions or more statistical stuff based on number of punctation marks, length and so on?

  • Is there an easy method to combine two relative paths in C# ?

    - by Ioannis
I want to combine two relative paths in C#. For example: string path1 = "/System/Configuration/Panels/Alpha"; string path2 = "Panels/Alpha/Data"; I want to return string result = "/System/Configuration/Panels/Alpha/Data"; I can implement this by splitting the second array and compare it in a for loop but I was wondering if there is something similar to Path.Combine available or if this can be accomplished with regular expressions or Linq? Thanks

  • What regular expression(s) would I use to remove escaped html from large sets of data.

    - by Elizabeth Buckwalter
Our database is filled with articles retrieved from RSS feeds. I was unsure of what data I would be getting, and how much filtering was already setup (WP-O-Matic Wordpress plugin using the SimplePie library). This plugin does some basic encoding before insertion using Wordpress's built in post insert function which also does some filtering. I've figured out most of the filters before insertion, but now I have whacko data that I need to remove. This is an example of whacko data that I have data in one field which the content I want in the front, but this part removed which is at the end: <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/SoundOnTheSound?i=xFxEpT2Add0:xFbIkwGc-fk:V_sGLiPBpWU" border="0"></img> <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/SoundOnTheSound?d=qj6IDK7rITs" border="0"></img> &lt;img src=&quot;http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/SoundOnTheSound?i=xFxEpT2Add0:xFbIkwGc-fk:D7DqB2pKExk&quot; Notice how some of the images are escape and some aren't. I believe this has to do with the last part being cut off so as to be unrecognizable as an html tag, which then caused it to be html endcoded. Another field has only this which is now filtered before insertion, but I have to get rid of the others: &lt;img src=&quot;http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2183/2289902369_1d95bcdb85.jpg&quot; alt=&quot;post_img&quot; width=&quot;80&quot; (all examples are on one line, but broken up for readability) Question: What is the best way to work with the above escaped html (or portion of an html tag)? I can do it in Perl, PHP, SQL, Ruby, and even Python. I believe Perl to be the best at text parsing, so that's why I used the Perl tag. And PHP times out on large database operations, so that's pretty much out unless I wanted to do batch processing and what not. PS One of the nice things about using Wordpress's insert post function, is that if you use php's strip_tags function to strip out all html, insert post function will insert <p> at the paragraph points. Let me know if there's anything more that I can answer. Some article that didn't quite answer my questions. • Extract a sentence out of sentences separated by delimitors

    - by Laura
Below is a sample line I have extracted from a website: below a satisfactory level; &quot;an off year for tennis&quot;; &quot;his performance was off&quot; The output displays as: below a satisfactory level; "an off year for tennis"; "his performance was off" I want to get only the first sentence "below a satisfactory level"; Here is the code I have tried after exploring many stackoverflow posts: $data=explode('; ',$str); echo $data[0]; But somehow it is not working. Thanks in advance.

  • Using s/// in an expression

    - by mikeY
I got a headache looking for this: How do you use s/// in an expression as opposed to an assignment. To clarify what I mean, I'm looking for a perl equivalent of python's re.sub(...) when used in the following context: newstring = re.sub('ab', 'cd', oldstring) The only way I know how to do this in perl so far is: $oldstring =~ s/ab/cd/; $newstring = $oldstring; Note the extra assignment.

  • Jakarta Regexp 1.5 Backreferences?

    - by Matt Smith

What am I missing?

  • jquery sortable with regexp

    - by Chris Lively
    I am trying to figure out the right regexp to match on list item id's. For example: <ul id="MyList" class="connectedSortable"> <li id="id=1-32">Item 1</li> <li id="id=2_23">Item 2</li> <li id="id=3">Item 3</li> <li id="id=4">Item 4</li> <li id="id=5">Item 5</li> <li id="id=6">Item 6</li> </ul> On the serialize method, I want it to pull everything after the equal sign (=) $(function () { $("#MyList, #OtherList").sortable({ connectWith: '.connectedSortable', update: function () { $("#MyListOrder").val($("#MyList").sortable('serialize', { regexp: '/(.+)[=](.+)/)' })); } }).disableSelection(); }); I tried the above, but that didn't quite work. My regexp expression is wrong and I don't know what it should be. Ideas?

  • Is it possible to group validation?

    - by lambdabutz
I am using a lot of my own validation methods to compare the data from one association to the other. I've noticed that I'm constantly checking that my associations aren't nil before trying to call anything on them, but I am also validating their presence, and so I feel that my nil checks are redundant. Here's an example: class House < ActiveRecord::Base has_one :enterance, :class => Door has_one :exit, :class => Door validates_presence_of :enterance, :exit validate :not_a_fire_hazard def not_a_fire_hazard if enterance && exit && enterance.location != exit.location errors.add_to_base('If there is a fire you will most likely die') return false end end end I feel like I am repeating myself by checking the existence of enterance and exit within my own validation. Is there a more "The Rails Way" to do this?
