• Creating a view linking three different node types with two node references

  I have the following content types: Camp - the top level type Registration Information - contains node reference to Camp called Camp Medical Release Form - contains node reference to registration information called Camper I would like to create a View that takes the nid for the Camp, and pulls out all the fields for the Registration Info and Medical Release Form. I'm having trouble figuring out how to set up the various arguments/relationships. I haven't done something that's referenced more than two types. I know it would be smart/best to just combine the Registration Info and Medical Release Form, since it's a 1:1 mapping, but we can't. So... any help would be appreciated!

• Flash CS5 AS3 drop shadow filter won't print

  Hello all, I've tried searching quite a bit to discover why I don't seem to be able to print drop shadow filters from within Flash. I have trouble printing, but if the movieclip I want to print has or contains a drop shadow, that clip will print sans the drop shadow. Anyone have any insight as to why this might be happening? If you want to try it out yourself, here is the simple print code I'm using. • how does a research topic fit into a program?

The program should generate questions that vary on each run of the test, and it should grade the test after someone takes it. (I found out recently that there's a system that can do some of the tasks already, but I don't think many people know how to use it) What type of research could be involved? I need to find a research article that relates to my project, and I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out what type of subject to look for.

• Does anyone know of a way to easily convert a PDF to a docx format programmatically

  We have a couple 3rd party systems that give us PDFs. We would like to convert those PDFs for display on the web without using an Adobe product. Ideally we would like to use Silverlight to render the PDFs but are having trouble converting from a PDF to Xaml or using docx format as a middle man. There are lots of libraries that give PDFs but that is not what we need. If there is a library out there that does this, a .net lib would be preferable but we can run the conversion using the command line as well if that is an option.

• Not compile code blocks when publishing?

  I have many lines i just use for debugging and helpers. Is there a way i can mark these so they do not compile when publishing a project but still can use when running/debugging my program within Eclipse? Even better would be to mark a certain field as debug only and discard everything that has to do with that field completely when publishing. I understand this might get one in trouble when using fields like that and using that in critical parts of the code. But i often find myself initializing a lot of debug fields then comment them out which results in errors down the line if i do not comment those out as well. So is there some way to handle this in a better and more efficient way?

• Handling Messages in Console Apps/DLLs in C++ Win32

  I would like to have the ability to process Win32 messages in a console app and/or inside a standalone DLL. I have been able to do it in .NET with the following article and it works great in C# inside a console app and standalone DLL http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc163417.aspx Is there a way to do the equivalent with C/C++ Win32 APIs? I have tried doing RegisterClassEx(...) and CreateWindow(...) even passing in HWND_MESSAGE to hWndParent but the trouble is that after the "invisible" window is created messages are not being processed probably due to the lack of a message pump. Where would the message pump go if you had a DLL entry point? I have tried creating another thread in a DLL and put while(GetMesage(..)) there but that did not work either. Any ideas?

  So I'm writing a program which returns a procedure for some given arithmetic problem, so I wanted to instance a couple of functions to Show so that I can print the same expression I evaluate when I test. The trouble is that the given code matches (-) to the first line when it should fall to the second. {-# OPTIONS_GHC -XFlexibleInstances #-} instance Show (t -> t-> t) where show (+) = "plus" show (-) = "minus" main = print [(+),(-)] returns [plus,plus] Am I just committing a motal sin printing functions in the first place or is there some way I can get it to match properly? edit:I realise I am getting the following warning: Warning: Pattern match(es) are overlapped In the definition of `show': show - = ... I still don't know why it overlaps, or how to stop it.

  I'm having trouble getting Hibernate to perform a bulk insert on MySQL. I'm using Hibernate 3.3 and MySQL 5.1 At a high level, this is what's happening: @Transactional public Set<Long> doUpdate(Project project, IRepository externalSource) { List<IEntity> entities = externalSource.loadEntites(); buildEntities(entities, project); persistEntities(project); } public void persistEntities(Project project) { projectDAO.update(project); } This results in n log entries (1 for every row) as follows: Hibernate: insert into ProjectEntity (name, parent_id, path, project_id, state, type) values (?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?) I'd like to see this get batched, so the update is more performant. It's possible that this routine could result in tens-of-thousands of rows generated, and a db trip per row is a killer. Why isn't this getting batched? (It's my understanding that batch inserts are supposed to be default where appropriate by hibernate).

• JQuery - which form was submitted?

  Hello, I have a page of products and for each of them, I want to have a form that uses AJAX to update the session. I've done this bit - just providing background. I use the product's ID to create a different form class and name for each form, so each form is called something like this_form_name_567 and the next would be this_form_name_568 and so on. There is a submit button per form. I'm having trouble figuring out a) which event is best to use so that the correct form will be identified when a submit button is clicked, b) once clicked, how to then make sure the correct value is taken from a hidden field (unique ID) within the submitted form so that I can populate a line of code such as: $.post("compare_response.php", {compare_this: $("#compare_this").val()}, function(data){ } Any help would be greatly appreciated. • How to store and access JSON data for a site?

  I'm buiding an HTML/jQuery site where almost all the content comes from remote JSON data. I'm having trouble coming up with a good way to store and access the data in the future (scope-wise). Currently, I've written a jQuery plugin that gets the JSONP data when the site loads. But I have other functions and jQuery plugins that need to access this data. Where should this data be stored so other functions and plugins can access it? Should it be a global variable? If it matters, this site will only run on the iPad and the back-end of the site is in Rails.

• Second Unit Test Not Running

  I am having trouble getting my Method B test to run. The logic is fine, but when the unit tests are run, only Method A will run. If Method A and B are switched in terms of spots, only Method B will run. So clearly the code is wrong at some point. Do I need to call method B's test from inside method A in order to get both unit tests to run?   Problem: We have x checkboxes and we want to check y of them evenly. Example 1: select 50 checkboxes of 100 total. [-] [x] [-] [x] ... Example 2: select 33 checkboxes of 100 total. • Getting Emacs ansi-term and Zsh to play nicely

  I've been trying to use Zsh within my emacs session, without emacs remapping all the Zsh keys. I found ansi-term works pretty well for this but, I'm still having some problems. I was getting lots of junk characters outputted with, I was able to fix it with: ## Setup proper term information for emacs ansi-term mode [[ $TERM == eterm-color ]] && export TERM=xterm But everything still doesn't work perfectly. Now I am having trouble with output being drawn offscreen , especially when using something like C-r for search. Any thoughts. Anyone else have Zsh + Ansi-term working properly?

• Allowing AsyncTask to Manipulate Values in Different Activity Classes

  Hi guys, This title may seem strange, so let me try to explain what I'm trying to do. I have several activity classes, each representing a different view in my application. My initial activity class gets loaded when the application launches. The user enters values and eventually a TCP socket is opened, and I then use AsyncTask to listen for and respond to messages from the server. I'd like for this AsyncTask class to essentially listen until the app is closed/error condition reached, and be able to update values in other activity classes after they are started. Does this make sense (it's been a long, frustrating night)? I know that static activity class references are bad practice, and touching the UI thread from other activities is bad as well, but I'm having trouble finding a clean solution to this problem. Maybe using AsyncTask is not the best approach here? Should I be using a service instead or something else entirely? Thanks in advance.

• Google Gears hangs when capturing (unmanaged resource store)

  Our code was written based on the example from Google Gears' own docs. We're using an unmanaged resource store. So we declare the files in an array, create the store, and capture all the files. Trouble is, the capturing process hangs. It always hangs on a random file (no discernible pattern has emerged), and when you reload the page, it always successfully captures. We're capturing 48 files. It seems to have nothing to do with the files themselves, as it hangs on every file type. I've seen it hang on the 6th file or the 47th. Windows and Mac. FF, IE, and Safari. We are not using a WorkerPool, and I'm thinking this may be necessary. Any other ideas why it would hang?

• How? Encrypt and Decrypt user membership passwords in ASP.NET

  We are creating a new site using ASP.NET membership provider for user registration and log in. Our old system encrypted user passwords so that we could recover them if we needed to. I am having a great deal of trouble figuring out if it is possible to use ASP.NET membership functions to simply encrypt the password when the user registers and then unencrypt it so I can see it. Documentation for this is neigh non-existant. I know how to configure Web.config to have it store passwords as encrypted ala passwordFormat="Hashed" in the provider and assigning a validationKey in the machineKey, however it seems like the password still gets hashed (though perhaps it is just well encrypted). Either way I cannot decifer how the password can be recovered (by us) if neccessary. Thanks!

• Jquery: encasing div and anchor link binded to same event.

  im having trouble figuring out how to bind mouseout() to my entire nav bar including the links. when a user hovers over a link in #nav a sub menu is shown. all is well there. what i want to do is fadeOut that sub menu when the user hovers out of the entire #nav. my code for the mouseout: $('#nav').mouseout(function() { setTimeout(function() { //$('.sub-link').fadeOut(); }, 2000); }); when i hover over an anchor link which resides in #nav, i see the sub-menu. then i guess the mouseout() even fires and the sub-menu fades out. is there anyway to have the #nav and any anchor links within it to act as one? i'd paste my markup but even indenting it 4 spaces still shows as rendered html.. TIA

Then I saw this post where the op seems to be using apache log to monitor webpage load events in his webview. Enhance webView performance (should be the same performance as native Web Browser) Can I get a similar utility plugin or anything so that I can use it with logcat in ddms view. If possible please provide some resource as to how to configure it for android.

  I am developing SL3 + RIA services with custom authentication. I followed the example in http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/RiaServices/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=2661 to implement custom authentication. Based on the implementation, you first do login request from client to service. This request is async process. Since login is async, the control will go back to GUI which then starts to do data bind in SL controls using RIA services, the services happens to requires the authentication to be successful (by adding [RequireAuthentication] attribute). The trouble is, since you requested login might not have completed before the data binding starts t this stage the authentication is false because of that data binding will fail. I would like to know if you require your web services to have 'RequireAuthentication' how would you wait for authentication to complete at the server side or client side. Appriciate the help.   I always have trouble with complicated SQL queries. This is what I have $query = ' SELECT id, name, info, date_time FROM acms_events WHERE date_time = DATE_SUB(NOW(), INTERVAL 1 HOUR) AND active = 1 ORDER BY date_time ASC LIMIT 6 '; I want to get up to 6 rows that are upcoming within the hour. Is my query wrong? It does not seem to get events that are upcoming within the next hour when I test it. What is the correct syntax for this? Thanks

• Beginning android: how to map a string to a list

  I just finished the NotepadV1-3 tutorial for Android apps, and I was thinking of creating my own inventory app for fun, which for now basically consists of a list of names (such as "DVD" or "Grocery"), each of which can be clicked, which will bring up another specific list associated with that name. However, with the SQLiteDatabase.insert(..) method, the ContentValue can only take (among many others) "String, String" as argument, and I can't figure out how to input into the database a list of Strings associated with a particular key. I'm having trouble researching on how to resolve this as I am not that familiar with SQL. What would be the best way to store a key with its associated list of Strings? Any pointers and suggestions are appreciated! Android newb :[
