Ajax not working in visual studio 2005

I am trying to do an ajax website, but my ajax is not working. I checked my GAC and system.web,extensions dll is available. Why it is not working .? I am also not getting any errors. I tried many ways. Customising Symfony Admin Generator Form

Hi, I've generated the backend of my application, and am now just 'jazzing' the forms up (adding correct labels, validation rules etc). One thing I'd like to do is add a map (Google) which updates the marker as an address is entered into the form, then allows the user to drag it to correct the lat/lng should it be a little off. My question is, how can I customise the output of the form - I've read the docs (1.0,1.1,1.2 also) and it all seems very confusing. Customising forms not generated with the admin generator I know how to do using renderRow(); etc; but finding a way to add a little bit of HTML to the forms is making my eyes hurt! There's so much out of date stuff on the web regarding Symfony it's hard to know what to trust! If anyone can point me in the right direction that'd be great. Best Regards, Rich

Forcing Flex to update the screen?

This may be a bit of a beginners question, but I can't for the life of me figure it out. I'm using flex to develop a GUI for a large project, specifically a status bar along the bottom. Within my StatusBar class is a ProgressBar, which other classes doing work can tell to update(change bar completion and label) as they progress. The problem I'm encountering is that flex won't update whats shown on the screen until it's too late, for example ProgressBar initialized, 0% done some class sets the ProgressBar to be 12% done some class does some work some class sets the ProgressBar to be 56% done Whats happening is the 12% done is never displaying, it just hangs at 0% during the work, then skips right to 56% done. I've tried to understand the lifecycle of a flex component (invalidation and validation), and I think I understand it and am applying it correctly, but it's not working at all. I need to tell flex to redraw my StatusBar (or at least the ProgressBar within) after some class sets it to be 12% done, but before some class starts doing its work. How do I do this?

I want to protect my software from being used without permission. I will provide it for free to the parties I authorize to use it. Anyone knows a good protection scheme against having it copied and run by unauthorized parties ? So far, I thought about introducing a key validation mechanism: periodically, the user needs to send me (web site query) a code based on which I generate a new code that app validates against. There is an initial code, and so I can track users... Thoughts ? Later edit: I changed the licensing part to avoid unfocused discussion.

Printer Communication Capture

If I need to post this elsewhere let me know. We have some old software thats being re-written, that uses a printerdriver to a propriatery printer. I need to rewrite the software bypassing the print driver and go directly to the printer. I do have the specs for the printer communication, thats fine, but what Id like to do is monitor the communications to the printer to view its contents (from the existing software that Im re-writing) and compare it to the specs, and what I will be sending it for validation. I have to make sure Im not missing anything. Any ideas on how I might be able to accomplish this? Thanks

Need an Overview of Possibilities for multicolumn programming

Hi folks, From source1 and source2 i gather that IE9 will NOT support multi-column css3!! Since it is still the most popular browser (another thing i cannot understand), i am left but no other choice than to use Programming Power to make multi-columns work. Now, I use three divs that float to left, and which are manually filled with text. Please don't laugh i know its stupid! But I would wish to not to have to worry about the columns and just have a one piece of (un-interrupted) text which all goes into only 1 div, and then have a program smart enough to split it up into X equally wide columns. Question: before i start reinvent the wheel, what methods of programming power have you known that tackle this elegantly? Please suggest your best working multi-column layout sources so I can evaluate which option is the best (I will update the below table). I need to implement many forms in ASP.NET application (for IRS mostly). There are will be a lot of standard controls for each form (textboxes, dropdowns, checkboxes, radio). And business entity assigned to each. What's the best solution to automate this process? I need to: Have layout stored in DB (in XML). Layout must support several columns, tabbed interface Automatically bind business object values to the form Automatically read form values and write to business object Must support automatic validation Some basic workflows support would be good I used to work with TFS and saw how they implemented WorkItem templates (.wit files). How to automatically email customers registration keys?

I've written a bit of software that I'd like to share with others (a Mac Dashboard widget, specifically), but I'd also like to be compensated a bit for the time I spent on it. I've devised my own simple registration key algorithm, which takes a customer's email address and creates a 12-character alphanumeric key. The software itself is finished, demo limitations, key validation & all. I just need to get the keys to customers. How do I simply alert a key generation script to automatically email a customer a key, upon notification that they paid my account? Can I use PayPal IPN & JavaScript? The simplest solution will do - this is a five dollar widget. :)

How do i have optional parameter but still validate them in asp.net mvc routing ?

I have this route that i just added routes.MapRoute( "MyRoute", "MyController/{action}/{orgId}/{startDate}/{endDate}", new { controller = "MyController", action = "MyAction", orgId = 0, startDate = DateTime.Today.AddMonths(-1), endDate = DateTime.Today }, new { action = new FromValuesListConstraint(new string[] { "MyAction", "MyActionEx" }), orgId = new IntegerRouteConstraint(), startDate = new DateTimeRouteConstraint(), endDate = new DateTimeRouteConstraint() } when i put in this url, it resolves down to the default route (controller, action,id) and the above rout does not catch this url: http://localhost:1713/MyController/MyAction/16 But this below works fine. http://localhost:1713/MyController/MyAction/16/11-May-10/11-May-10 my question is that i thought both would work as i am giving default values to the startDate and enddate fields i tested this using the RouteDebugger and this route turned up false how can i have these last two parameter as optional but still have the validation ?

JSF skips phases - How to debug that?

Hey fellows, I have to debug a foreign jsf application thanks god. The problem is, that I submit a form, but the values aren't carried over. With a phase listener I can see, that the life cycle doesn't run completely through, so to say it skips phase 2 -5: After the restore view phase, the render response phase is directly called. I miss the apply values, validation, update model actions and so on. So, this could be a chicken-and-egg problem: 1. The responsible phases aren't called, so the new form input can't be carried over. 2. The system doesn't recognize any new input and therefore directly renders after restoring the view. I checked that there is no call of responseComplete() oder renderResponse(). I'm stuck somehow. Any idea to validate one of the two hypothesis? Or how to debug that in general? Did anybody have a similar problem?

Best Practice: Access form elements by HTML id or name attribute?

As any seasoned JavaScript developer knows, there are many (too many) ways to do the same thing. For example, say you have a text field as follows: <form name="myForm"> <input type="text" name="foo" id="foo" /> There are many way to access this in JavaScript: [1] document.forms[0].elements[0]; [2] document.myForm.foo; [3] document.getElementById('foo'); [4] document.getElementById('myForm').foo; ... and so on ... Methods [1] and [3] are well documented in the Mozilla Gecko documentation, but neither are ideal. [1] is just too general to be useful and [3] requires both an id and a name (assuming you will be posting the data to a server side language). Ideally, it would be best to have only an id attribute or a name attribute (having both is somewhat redundant, especially if the id isn't necessary for any css, and increases the likelihood of typos, etc). [2] seems to be the most intuitive and it seems to be widely used, but I haven't seen it referenced in the Gecko documentation and I'm worried about both forwards compatibility and cross browser compatiblity (and of course I want to be as standards compliant as possible). So what's best practice here? Can anyone point to something in the DOM documentation or W3C specification that could resolve this? Note I am specifically interested in a non-library solution (jQuery/Prototype).

mvc action name in url

UPDATE: My model going into the save method is PartialViewModel, which in the save method, is pushed into the index's ContactViewModel and sent back. This wasn't clear. I am playing around with MVC3, and have a contact controller with a SaveDetails action. The index cshtml has a partial with a form whose action is pointing to this controller. When I submit the form not having completed it fully, thereby firing the validation, the url now contains the SaveDetails action name (http://localhost:7401/Contact/SaveDetails). The form code is: @using (Html.BeginForm("SaveDetails", "Contact")) { ... } The controller action looks like this: public ActionResult SaveDetails(Models.PartialsViewModel pvm) { return View("Index", new ContactViewModel{ PartialsViewModel = pvm } ); } What am I doing wrong?

How do I programmatically nullify a File Attachment in InfoPath Forms

Howdy all, I'm running into a problem with some InfoPath C# code while trying to remove an attachment from a form. Basically the process is: User opens form User clicks button File attachment is cleared I've tried adding a blank attachment to my schema that never becomes populated, then setting the original field's value equal to that value by the method below. When debugging the form I catch an error: Schema validation found non-data type errors. Creating C# form fields with events based off of a text file

I need to generate windows form fields based off of a text file that I am parsing. I also want to automatically generate validation event handlers which all will be basically the same only the form field and the regular expression which is used to validate the field will change. I'm having a difficult time figuring out the quickest and easiest method to go about doing this. Any pointers in the right direction would really be great, maybe even some keywords that I'm missing. I can only imagine this type of question has been covered before, I just don't know what I'm searching for really.

Have to click twice to submit the form

Intended function: require user to select an option from the drop down menu. After user clicks submit button, validate if an option is selected.
