• ASP.Net File Upload Network Issue

  I have tried both the .net FileUpload control and the ajax Asyncfileuploadcontrol to upload a file less than 500kb. It seems that when I tried to go through my wireless router (att.bellsouth) that the uploads always fail, however when I plug my droid into my laptop and use my pda connection it works perfectly fine. I'm wondering if the network connection from my house to my server could be causing this issue, and if anyone had any solutions to this problem. Tomorrow I'm going to try and upload from other networks and pray it works.

  I want to be able to detect and abort OS shutdown from my application, preferably by using the Windows API. I know that it is possible to do this manually using the command shutdown -a In the worst case, I could ShellExecute this, but I was wondering if there was a better way. Also, how do I find out programatically that the OS is about to shut down, via the Win32 API?

Is it posible to read a pdf file and extract its pages for using them, or if i have to directly convert the pages to png and use them. I wish I could do something like this but sadly it doesn't work: element.getStyle('background-position-x); I guess this is because position comes in different forms like 'center' rather than just being generic.

  I'm developing a form generator, and wondering if it would be bad mojo to store JSON in an SQL database? I want to keep my database & tables simple, so I was going to have `pKey, formTitle, formJSON` on a table, and then store {["firstName":{"required":"true","type":"text"},"lastName":{"required":"true","type":"text"}} in formJSON. would this slow down the DB server too much to set live? Any input is appreciated.

• Ruby: Is there a way to split a string only with the first x occurrencies?

  For example, suppose I have this: 001, "john doe", "male", 37, "programmer", "likes dogs, women, and is lazy" The problem is that the line is only supposed to have 6 fields. But if I separate it with split I get more, due to the comma being used improperly to separate the fields. Right now I'm splitting everything, then when I get to the 5-th index onward I concatenate all the strings. But I was wondering if there was a split(",",6) or something along these lines.

• Flash of a Bullet in the top left corner of the search results

  I am using a UISearchDisplayController and SearchBar initialised from a nib. when the search is being run I get a flash of a small circle what looks like a "bullet" in the top left corner of the search results. [See attached screenshot] It occurs in the simulator and on the device sporadically I have looked through my nib and I am not adding any stray views and was wondering if anyone else had this issue or knows how to get rid of it? thanks @interface SearchTabViewController : UITableViewController

I could get the HTML, parse it, remove all tags, etc, but I'm wondering if there's a way to get the text from the alread rendered page. I also came across 'elseif' but my text editor (textmate) doesn't pick it up as a keyword, not does the program run properly. if name == 'Chris' puts 'What a lovely name.' elseif name == 'Katy' puts 'What a lovely name!' end I'm using the book, Learn to Program, which was written several years ago.   I am painting a widget and I want to optimize the process. Basically i will be sliding the image in the x direction and I only want to fill the newly exposed area. Is there a way to translate the pixels of a widget without calling update or using paintevent? I know of pixmaps and such but I am wondering If I can for example draw a pixmap once and then translate what I have drawn without having to paint anything else or draw pixmaps anymore.
