    Hi On my development system, I have python 2.6, python 1.1 and GAE. I have three projects running on python 2.6 and django 1.1. And 1 project using GAE, Python 2.6 and django 1.1. I have heard that, my set-up for running GAE using python 2.6 may create some head scratching problems while deploying it on the production server, because GAE supports only python 2.5. And using 2.6 is not recommended. Can I develop GAE application using python 2.6? If not what should be the solution, I am using Window vista as my development system.

  • CSS height problem. IE8 seems correct Firefox seems wrong. Any fix?

    Below is a complete html page that shows the problem. The "myDiv" should be 22px in height (including the border). Item 1 should have a 1px space between its border and the divs border. In IE8 it is. In FF 3.6.2 though it is 24px and I can't understand why. Ultimately my goal is to get the same CSS to create the same result in both browsers. It's driving me crazy!     The mark " in Vim takes you to your last edit position. I want to create an alias that will open my Vim instance and jump to that mark; something which is obviously extremely useful. This works from the command line: $ vim -c "'\"" File.cpp Now I want to make an alias for this: $ alias v='vim -c "'\"" File.cpp' Well that's not going to work! You need to escape the first single quote you say... $ alias v='vim -c "\'\"" File.cpp' Hmm. That didn't work either... So I try a whole lot of variations of single quoted and double quoted madness, bang my head against the table and load up stackoverflow in my browser, and here we are. How do I properly escape this alias?

  • ASP.NET MVC 2 RTM - favicon not displayed in Internet Explorer

    I have the following two lines in the head section in my masterpage: <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/Content/Images/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" /> <link rel="icon" href="/Content/Images/favicon.ico" type="image/ico" /> However, the favicon is not displayed in Internet Explorer (version 6, 7, 8). In Firefox and Safari the favicon works fine. I have even tried to replace href with the URL to my website (http://www......./Content/Images/favicon.ico) but that still does not work in Internet Explorer. Am I missing something?

  • Flash under dhtml menu

    I'm struggling with this probelm for few hours and it's drives me crazy. I want my drop down menu put over flash area and it works but only in FF. Unfotunelly IE and Opera shows my menu under flash. The DHTML menu system is the simplest as possible and it was wrote from scratch by me. I've been trying everything, and still it doesn't work like it should. I tried to put the flash element by jquery.flashEmbed script and by standard code with param transparent, but it never works.   • Usng Rails ActiveRecord relationships

    I'm a newbie programmer, been doing shell scripting for years but have recently taken on OOP programming using Ruby and am creating a Rails application. I'm having a hard time getting my head wrapped around how to use my defined model relationships. I've tried searching Google, but all I can come up with are basically cheat sheets for what has_many, belongs_to, etc all mean. This stuff is easy to define & understand, especially since I've done a lot of work directly with SQL. What I don't understand is how to actually used those defined relationships. In my case I have 3 models: Locations Hosts Services Relationships (not actual code, just for shortening it): Services belongs_to :hosts Hosts has_many :services belongs_to :locations Locations has_many :hosts In this case I want to be able to display a column from Locations while working with Services. In SQL this is a simple join, but I want to do it the Rails/Ruby way, and also not use SQL in my code or redefine my joins.

    Hi, I have installed gitosis, but i have strange thing when i'm working with repos. In config i have [gitosis] [group gitosis-admin] writable = gitosis-admin members = me@server me@laptop [group prj1] writable = prj1 members = me@laptop and in /home/git/repositories i have created directory prj1.git with empty git repo. i can work with gitosis-admin from server and laptop without problems, but when i'm trying to git clone prj1 on my laptop i see $ git clone git@server:prj1.git Initialized empty Git repository in /Users/alec/temp/prj1/.git/ fatal: no matching remote head ok, lets push prj1 from laptop to server: $ git push origin master:refs/heads/master ERROR:gitosis.serve.main:Repository read access denied fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly Whats wrong?

    Im learning dynamic programming now, and while I know the theory well, designing DP algorithms for new problems is still difficult. This is what i would really like now- A book or a website, which poses a problem which can be solved by dynamic programming. Also there is the solution with an explanation available, which i would like to see if i cant solve the problem even after butting my head at it for a few hours. Is there some resource that provides this sort of a thing for several categories of algorithms- like graph algorithms, dynamic programming, etc? P.S. I considered Topcoder, but the solutions there are not really appropriate for learning to implement efficient solutions.

  • XHTML / CSS help?

    Basically on GunChester my project I have an few pixel wide gap between #login_top (top image holder) and the 3 CSS col's below, #login_left, #login_centre and #login_right so that my first question why? and how can I fix this, this is in FF, Chrome and IE. Secondly the BG image seems to be overlaying twice as in its stretched at the top then the full picture does display as it should. I did have it working but when trying to fix the pixel gap I must of messed something up but no idea what, so it is now going pear shape, lease help with both these situations :)?   • AJAX Partial page update problem when displaying a control

    Hello! I have an interesting problem when using partial page update in asp.net with scriptmanager and a update panel. My scenario looks like this: I'm using the tab control from the ajax toolkit. I also implemented this control using lazy loading, so that when the page is loaded only the current tab gets loaded all the other tabs don't get rendered, because Im using an UpdatePanel (on a .ascx control) on each of these tabs and when a tab gets selected the updatepanel makes a async postback to load the content for a selected tab. On one of my tabs Im using a combobox control from obout.com, and it doesn't work. Now I know why it doesn't work. It doesn't work because the control is shown via a partial page refresh, but to correctly display the control it has to do some "magic" that is - register some .css and .js includes on the page (in the head I guess)....but because I load this control via async page refresh...it can't do these stuff. What kind of workarround do you suggest? Thanks!

    Hello all, I 'm relatively new to git and and having some problems early on. I've made several commits, but when I try to push them I get a response that says everything is up-to-date. I feel like my problem is the same on listed in this question, but it recommends the following: $ git log -1 # note the SHA-1 of latest commit $ git checkout master # reset your branch head to your previously detached commit $ git reset --hard <commit-id> What exactly will "checking out the master" do?   • How to view output .mp files from Functional MetaPost

    I'm interested in using Functional MetaPost on Mac OS X: http://cryp.to/funcmp/ I'm looking for a tutorial like: http://haskell.org/haskellwiki/Haskell_in_5_steps but for a trivial FuncMP example, i.e. using GHC, I can compile something simple such as: import FMP myPicture = text "blah" main = generate "foo" 1 myPicture but I can't figure out how to view this foo.1.mp output. (It gives a runtime error about not finding 'virmp'; my MetaPost binary is 'mpost'; I can't figure out how to override this Parameter or what my .FunMP file is or should be doing...) I can run mpost on that but the output (foo.1.1) is what, PostScript? EPS? How do I use this? (I imagine I just need a simple LaTeX file with an EPS figure in it or something...) Preferably, I'd like to generate output (.ps or .pdf that I can view) so I an actually get somewhere with Functional MetaPost, learning it, playing with it, not banging my head against paths and binaries and shell commands.

  • UITableViewCell imageView.contentMode doesn't work in 3.0

    In UITableViewCellStyleDefault, setting the contentMode on the imageView has no result. If I change my build SDK to version 3.1, everything again works. I don't get any warnings or errors when compiling on 3.0 but this code: cell.imageView.contentMode = UIViewContentModeScaleAspectFit; cell.imageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:[[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@head.jpg",[gametype objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]]lowercaseString]]; seems to default to the UIViewContentModeCenter, so all of my pictures exceed the cell boundaries and encroach on neighboring cells. Let me reiterate that if I change my target to 3.1 everything works correctly and all pictures are scaled accordingly to fit in the default imageView Is this a known bug?

  • Thread and two dimensional array in objective C?

    Hey, guys, I am just starting to wrap my head around objective C and I am doing a little project on Iphone. And I just encountered a weird problem. I had to deal with images in my program so I have a lot local variables declared like temp[width][height]. If I am not using NSThread to perform image processing, it works all fine. However, if I use NSThread, it'll keep giving me EXC_BAD_ACCESS on whenever I try to access a 2-D array declared like temp[widht][height]. So I have to allocate memory from heap in order to have a 2-D array. That'll solve the problem but I still don't get it. My first thought would be stack over flow, but it worked all fine with one thread. I just don't get it.

  • finding a string of random characters (with possible errors) within a large string of random charact

    I am trying to search a large string w/o spaces for a smaller string of characters. using regex I can easily find perfect matches but I can't figure out how to find partial matches. by partial matches i mean one or two extra characters in the string or one or two characters that have been changed, or one of each. the first and last characters will always match though. this would be similar to a spell checker but there are no spaces and the strings dont contain actual words, just random hex digits. i figured a way to find the string if there are no extra characters using indexOf(string.charAt(0)) and indexOf(charAt(string.length()-1) and looping through the characters between the two indexes. but this can be problematic when dealing with randomized characters because of the possibility of finding the first and last characters at the correct spacing but none of the middle characters matching. i've been scratching my head for hours on this issue. any ideas?

    I have a rails model called 'audioclip'. I orginally created a scaffold with a 'new' action, which I replaced with 'new_record' and 'new_upload', becasue there are two ways to attach audio to this model. Going to /audioclips/new_record doesn't work because it takes 'new_record' as if it was an id. Instead of changing this, I was trying to just create '/record_clip' and '/upload_clip' paths. So in my routes.db I have: map.record_clip '/record_clip', :controller => 'audioclips', :action => 'new_record' map.upload_clip '/upload_clip', :controller => 'audioclips', :action => 'new_upload' When I navigate to /record_clip, I get ActionController::MethodNotAllowed Only get, head, post, put, and delete requests are allowed. I'm not extremely familiar with the inner-workings of routing yet. What is the problem here? (If it helps, I have these two statements above map.resources = :audioclips

    Hello, i have a very simple question I can't seem to get my head around. I have a properly encoded UTF8-String I parse into a JObject with Json.NET, fiddle around with some values and write it to the commandline, keeping the encoded characters intact. Everything works great except for the keeping the encoded characters intact part. Code: var json = "{roster: [[\"Tulg\u00f4r\", 990, 1055]]}"; var j = JObject.Parse(json); for (int i = 0; i < j["roster"].Count(); i++) { j["roster"][i][1] = ((int)j["roster"][i][1]) * 3; j["roster"][i][2] = ((int)j["roster"][i][2]) * 3; } Console.WriteLine(JsonConvert.SerializeObject(j, Formatting.None)); Actual Output: {"roster":[["Tulgôr",2970,3165]]} Desired Output: {"roster":[["Tulg\u00f4r",2970,3165]]} It seems like my phrasing in Google is inappropriate since nothing useful came up. I'm sure it's something uber-easy and i will feel pretty stupid afterwards. :)

  • rails3, gridfs and mongomapper: how to serve files? send_data?

    i am currently developing a rails3 app with mongomapper and file storage in gridfs. after some trying around, i found grip and currently also use it in the app for storing the data. so far, so good - now i am trying to get my head around serving the files to the user -- what would be the best/fastest way to achieve that? from: http://railstips.org/blog/archives/2009/12/23/getting-a-grip-on-gridfs/ there seem to be 2 ways: send_data from ruby/rails - is this a recommended way? fast enough?     Hi all, I am developing a tab-based iPad application in which corresponding to each tab, I have to show an UISplitViewController . I have done this by adding two navigation controllers to my tabBarController and assigning a subclass of UISplitViewController as RootViewController of both navigationController. And also I have to show both viewControllers(Master and Detail) in both modes(Potrait and Landscape). For this I have constructed a subclass of UISplitViewController in which i am overriding willAnimateRotationToInterfaceOrientation method and setting the frame of both ViewControllers as demonstrated in this link. However i am not able to set both viewControllers correctly.If my app starts in Landscape mode everything displays fine but if i open it in Potrait mode then the orientation of both ViewControllers changes. Sometimes the MasterView occupies the entire screen or sometimes both ViewControllers appear leaving a black line between them and the navigationBar. I have been banging my head over this problem since two days without any success. kindly help..

But i am little confused of why double pointers is being used in hlist (**pprev). Link for hlist is here. I understand that hlist is used in implementation of hash table since head of the list requires only one pointer and it saves space. Why cant it be done using single pointer (just *prev like the linked list)? Please help me.

    Rails is doing my head in. I'm trying now to put something together to pull screen scraped data from site X through to client Y via a ruby script on server Z I don't want views, I just want the request to look like domain.com/action/method Inside routes.rb I have: match ':controller(/:action(/:id(.:format)))' But it still won't work. I just get ActionView::MissingTemplate in the log. Achtung! If I deliberately put a faulty method in that subsequently calls render - the log file indicates the method executed badly, so I don't think it's something wrong with the "action" controller.

Off the top of my head I can think of a few features I'd like to see: USB interface Not too expensive (I don't know 100-200 dollars?)   • javaEE application layout

    I've been tasked with writing a new webapp in javaEE, which will be a first for me. I'm familar with the java language, but all of my previous projects have been in .net. So I've downloaded netbeans and I'll probably be using Hibernate, and started digging in. My question is, what's the best way to lay out a javaEE app? Should all data access go through netbeans? I was told to use webservices as much as possible so it's easy to pull data in and out of the system, and I've read through tutorials that create webservices in a seperate web application, as compared to the javaEE enterprise application. Is that really the way it's supposed to work? Just trying to wrap my head around this as compared to what I'm used to in .net. Thanks!
