  • .NET XmlSerializer fails with List<T>

    I'm using a singleton class to save all my settings info. It's first utilized by calling Settings.ValidateSettings(@"C:\MyApp"). The problem I'm having is that 'List Contacts' is causing the xmlserializer to fail to write the settings file, or to load said settings. If I comment out the List<T> then I have no problems saving/loading the xml file.     I have a database on the iPhone which as a view. When I update the dependent tables the view is not updated. It's only updated when I close and reopen the application. From there onwards things are okay: updates reflect immediately. Is there something I need to do to force update of a VIEW?

  • Killing Mysql processes staying in sleep command.

    Hey I am connecting a MYSQL database through hibernate and i seem to have processes that are not being killed after they are finished in the session. I have called flush and close on each session but when i check the server the last processes are still there with a sleep command. This is a new problem which i am having and was not the case yesterday. Is there any way i can ensure the killng of theses processes when i am done with a session.     The code below demonstrates a very simple problem; I am hoping that I am just missing a setting that someone might be able to reveal. Goal (1) Launch main winform (MainForm). (2) Press button to display secondary winform (ShadowForm) that is semi-transparent and should exactly overlay MainForm. What Actually Happens Scenario 1: Launch main winform then press button: ShadowForm displays with correct size but incorrect location, lower and to the right (as if it was cascaded). Press button to close ShadowForm again. Press button once more to reopen ShadowForm and now it is in the correct position, covering MainForm. Scenario 2: Launch main winform, move it around, then press button: ShadowForm displays with correct size but incorrect location (where the MainForm was before moving it).   • How to download file into string with progress callback?

    I would like to use the WebClient (or there is another better option?) but there is a problem. I understand that opening up the stream takes some time and this can not be avoided. However, reading it takes a strangely much more amount of time compared to read it entirely immediately. Is there a best way to do this? I mean two ways, to string and to file. Progress is my own delegate and it's working good. FIFTH UPDATE: Finally, I managed to do it. In the meantime I checked out some solutions what made me realize that the problem lies elsewhere. I've tested custom WebResponse and WebRequest objects, library libCURL.NET and even Sockets. The difference in time was gzip compression. Compressed stream lenght was simply half the normal stream lenght and thus download time was less than 3 seconds with the browser.     I'm trying to export data to a csv file. It should contain a header (from datastack) and restacked arrays with my data (from datastack). One line in datastack has the same length as dataset. The code below works but it removes parts of the first line from datastack. I add Common.Controls.csproj to AControl.sln 2. In AControl.sln I turn off the build of Common.Controls.csproj 3. I add the reference to Common.Controls (by project) to AControl.csproj. This is the (easiest) way I know how to get Debug versions to match Debug References, and Release versions to match Release References. There is no implicit reference conversion from 'AControl.AControl' to 'Common.Controls.OurUserControl'. or inside the actual method (the properties located in the abstract class): 'AControl.AControl' does not contain a definition for 'OneOfTheSetters' and no extension method 'OneOfTheSetters' accepting a first argument of type 'AControl.AControl' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) Meanwhile, I can still build and run the project (then the red squigglies go away until I re-open the project, or close/re-open the file). It seems to me that I might be setting up the projects incorrectly. Thoughts?

  • Why would my Silverlight 4 Out-of-Browser application just display white?

    My Silverlight application works fine when running in a browser. But when I install it as an out-of-browser application, the Window frame comes up with an appropriate icon and title, but the content of the window is just white. It is in the start menu but when I close it and open again, it is still blank. I reproduced this on Windows 7 and Windows XP. I have created a much smaller file to read (23x23) and it reads fine. Is there a size limit?     I have the following code. What I want to achieve is to update the shown list when I click an entry so I can traverse through the list. I found the two uncommented ways to do it here on stackoverflow, but neither works. I also got the advice to create a new ListActivity on the data update, but that sounds like wasting resources? EDIT: I found the solution myself. All you need to do is call "SimpleCursorAdapter.changeCursor(new Cursor);".
