• Strip text of all formatting on paste

  I have an application that allows the user to create an article. The problem arises when the user pastes from something like Word which comes loaded with a bunch of markup. I'm using a jQuery editor called tiny_mce which allows the markup. I do a htmlencode and decode obviously but it means that i carry a huge payload of markup. Is there a way to strip (all) markup from pasted text and just keep the text? Or is there a way that tiny_mce can show the markup as text?

• How to capture a click on a link on a temporary layer that is hidden when the focus changes

  We have a layer that appears when a certain text input has the focus and that should dissappear when the input loses the focus. I tried to do it like this: <input type="text" onblur="document.getElementById('hideme').style.display='none'" /> <div id="hideme">Textextext <a href="http://disney.com/">disney</a> text</div> My problem is: when the user clicks on the link link, the browser does not follow this link. It seems the layer disappears before the browser checks where the click goes. What can I do here? One idea would be to watch whether the mouse enters the hideme div and not to close it when the mouse cursor is in there, but this seems way to complicated. Do you have a better idea? By the way: you can try it out very easy by pasting this into the Tryit Editor of w3schools. :-)

  Hi I am new to Android. I push files to Android device emulator. Image files are in Gallery and audio files are in Music. How can I view the text file in the android device emulator.( I heard android doesn’t come with Text Editor form stack overflow). I don’t want to open Text file I need to find if the text file is in the device or not. My file explore application list the available file in the sdcard. It lists the text file name also but in the device emulator how can I find the text file?????

  We have a mass emailing tool (.net based) that we developed in house. html editor. and sends via html and text formats. within the body we have an absolute URL path to a PDF on our server. some of our subscribers are stating that when they click on the link they get a message box that the file is an executable file and whether they should run it or not... why would that happen... and only to a certain group?

• Get products to display on custom Magento page

  How can you get products to display on a custom Magento page? Naturally, this is not an uncommon question but nothing that I've seen has solved it for me. The common response is to put the following code in through the CMS editor: {{block type="catalog/product_list" name="home.catalog.product.list" alias="products_homepage” template=”catalog/product/list.phtml”}} Which just displays the message "There are no products matching the selection." on my page. Other websites advise reindexing the data through the Magento admin controls, clearing the Magento cache, and making sure products are set to a store, none of which helped in my case. Anyone have any ideas?

• ipod touch crashing after uploading app to device

  hi, I installed a new device (the second out of the 100), on xcode, an iPod touch but when I upload the app, the iPod crashes, apple logo shows, and gets frozen for a while, and then resusitates, in the xcode, I get the message on console: The Debugger has exited due to signal 15 (SIGTERM). I tried a simple app I made, and it loaded it, (some bouncing ball) after starting again, but tried the same with another app that plays some sounds and it shows normally, but doesnt play the sounds, questions: how to fix this issue? (in MyApp-info.plist, in bundle identifier, I have: com.yourcompany.${PRODUCT_NAME:rfc1034identifier} havent changed this, is this a problem?? 1.b. I used that conf to upload to an iPad with no problem?? Do the apps play normally sounds *.m4a, in the simulator it works!, not in the iPod, is this due to the crash or not? Thank you,, edit Im using AudioToolbox framework, the question after 1.b is 2 in my editor, but appears as 1 in the post??

• Icons in Silverlight: Images vs. Vectors

  I like using the vector drawing feature of Expression Blend to create icons. That way I can change colors easily on my icons without having to resort to an image editor. But my question is... Say I have a treeview control that has an icon next to each tree element and say I have hundreds of elements. Do you think using images is faster - performance wise than using vector icons? B/c I'd rather use vectors but I'm wondering about performance concerns.

  I try to draw a class diagram using Vim. I fill the editor window with white-spaces. Type :match SpellBad /\s/ to highlight all the white-spaces. Ctrl+Q to select vertical white-spaces. Ctrl+I to insert Bar(|) and then Esc ........................... v+l +... + l to select horizontal white-spaces But I don't know how to change all selected horizontal white-spaces to underscore(_). I have to hit _ serval times. • Do you know of a good program for editing/translating resource (.rc) files?

  I'm building a C++/MFC program in a multilingual environment. I have one main (national) language and three international languages. Every time I add a feature to the program I have to keep the international languages up-to-date with the national one. The resource editor in Visual Studio is not very helpful because I frequently end up leaving a string, dialog box, etc., untranslated. I wonder if you guys know of a program that can edit resource (.rc) files and Build a file that includes only the strings to be translated and their respective IDs and accepts the same (or similar) file in another language (this would be helpful since usually the translation is done by someone else), or Handle the translations itself, allowing to view the same string in different languages at the same time.

• Build turns partially transparent image pixels black

  I'm very new to C# and I've run into a problem and haven't been able to solve it. I have a row of buttons that have .png images assigned to them. The images are in .png format to allow transparency, and smoothing the edges in GIMP leaves some semi-transparent pixels. I've set the Image List Toolbar (imglToolbar)'s properties to recognize "Transparent" as the designated color to show up as transparent. I'm working in Visual Studio 2005. The strange thing is that everything looks great when I'm viewing the Visual C# form preview window. The icons look exactly as they should. However, once I actually build the project, the buttons treat every semi-transparent pixel near the edge of the image as if it's black.   I've been developing Ruby on Rails applications for some time, and have often found help to develop generate the templates of HTML with accompanying CSS. However, I'd like to make an attempt at doing this myself. Initial experiments leave me feeling like my process is really slow. I'm writing all my Rails code in VIM, which, with accompanying aliases to run the test suite, is pretty fast for me. However, the back-and-forth between browser/VIM to see new changes seems cumbersome - I'm guessing finding an editor with an embedded browser that constantly sees new changes is ideal for this (any suggestions?) So far I've experimented with Blueprint, which at the onset seems like it will save me a ton of time. However, what other tools have helped you do the PSD-HTML/CSS conversion as fast as you can?

  I have a problem with my form when I try to submit with ajax. I am using Malsup Form plugin for Jquery but also using tinyMCE editor. When I submit the form and check the $_POST array, there is no data from the textarea. I have tried to use the triggerSave() function but to no avail. • How can I persist a large Perl object for re-use between runs?

  I've got a large XML file, which takes over 40 seconds to parse with XML::Simple. I'd like to be able to cache the resulting parsed object so that on the next run I can just retrieve the parsed object and not reparse the whole file. I've looked at using Data::Dumper but the documentation is a bit lacking on how to store and retrieve its output from disk files. Other classes I've looked at (e.g. Cache::Cache appear designed for storage of many small objects, not a single large one. Can anyone recommend a module designed for this? EDIT. • best IDE for ruby on rails

  Having moved from java to ruby, I am struggling to find a good IDE for ruby. I used eclipse on java, so I tried Aptana Studio (previously Radrails), but its not even half as good. Currently I am trying out Netbeans for Ruby. Please suggest me the best RoR IDE out there. I believe TextMate is universally accepted as the best editor on Mac OS X. I am looking for windows. So far it seems netbeans and e-texteditor are worth a try.

• Can someone rid me of these turbulent T4 template editors?

  I'm using Tangible's editor and (no offense guys) it sucks. Its one painful step above notepad. But its (afaik) the only game in town. Does anybody have any tips/tricks on creating T4 templates in a non-painful way? For instance, I'm thinking about creating a T4 Template that essentially turns a class defined in a solution into a template generator. DTE, look for code that is marked with this or that attribute, run this or that method, and drop the results into a file. At least I'd get legit intellisense out of the deal...

• String Encoding doesn't ouput all characters

  My client uses InputStreamReader/BufferedReader to fetch text from the Internet. However when I save the Text to a *.txt the text shows extra weird special symbols like 'Â'. I've tried Convert the String to ASCII but that mess upp å,ä,ö,Ø which I use. I've tried food = food.replace("Â", ""); and IndexOf(); But string won't find it. But it's there in HEX Editor. So summary: When I use text.setText(Android), the output looks fine with NO weird symbols, but when I save the text to *.txt I get about 4 of 'Â'. I do not want ASCII because I use other Non-ASCII character. The 'Â' is displayed as a Whitespace on my Android and in notepad. Thanks! Have A great Weekend! EDIT* found:   in Wordpad

• Drawing rectangles on a grid in a web browser

  I would like to create an online, simple WYSIWYG drawing editor allowing people to draw rectangular shapes. I'm thinking of a grid which the lines and points can snap on to, ensuring that the lines are strictly vertical or horizontal. I will be parsing the rectangular shapes to obtain some area calculations and compute certain things. How can I achieve the drawing ability? The new canvas tag is good but people have been telling me that IE does not support it. I found some Java applets but I have never programmed in Java before. Is there a way to do this using pure javascript or jquery? Does ASP.NET help at all? Thanks.

• .NET make a copy of an embedded file resource to the local drive

  Hi, i'm new to the realm to working with Files in .NET I'm creating a WPF application in VB.NET with the 3.5 Framework. (If you provide an example in C#, that's perfectly fine.) In my project I have a Template for an MS Access database. My desired behavior is that when the users clicks File--New, they can create a new copy of this template, give it a filename, and save it to their local directory. The database already has the tables and some starting data needed to interface with my application (a user-friendly data editor) I'm thinking the approach is to include this "template.accdb" file as a resource in the project, and write it to a file somehow at runtime? Any guidance will be very, very appreciated. Thanks!

• Keeping Track of Dependant Third-party Library Releases

  I am building a web application that is dependent upon several third-party libraries. What is a good strategy for making sure that you're always using the most fully patched versions? A simple method would be to keep the versions written down and visit the websites at regular intervals, but I am looking for some way to get the information 'pushed' to me if possible.
