• Removing a device in "removed" state from Linux software RAID array

  My workstation has two disks(/dev/sd[ab]), both with similar partitioning. /dev/sdb failed, and cat /proc/mdstat stopped showing the second sdb partition. I ran mdadm --fail and mdadm --remove for all partitions from the failed disk on the arrays that use them, although all such commands failed with mdadm: set device faulty failed for /dev/sdb2: No such device mdadm: hot remove failed for /dev/sdb2: No such device or address Then I hot swapped the failed disk, partitioned the new disk and added the partitions to the respective arrays. All arrays got rebuilt properly except one, because in /dev/md2, the failed disk doesn't seem to have been removed from the array properly. Because of this, the new partition keeps getting added as a spare to the partition, and its status remains degraded. I need help with removing device number 1 with 'removed' status and making /dev/sdb2 active.

• Scheme Formatting Help

  I've been working on a project for school that takes functions from a class file and turns them into object/classes. The assignment is all about object oriented programming in scheme. My problem however is that my code doesn't format right. The output it gives me whenever I give it a file to pass in wraps the methods of the class in a list, making it so that the class never really gets declared. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the parenthesis wrapping the method list to remove. I would really appreciate any help. • Should an object be fully complete before injected as a dependency?

Since it is a bit different, I wanted to separate them, to make it, hopefully, easier to answer. Also, this is not a real system, just a simplified example that I thought we'd all be familiar with. TIA. : DB threads: thread_id, thread_name, etc posts: post_id, thread_id, post_name, post_contents, post_date, post_user_id, etc Overview Basically I'm looking at the most maintainable way to load $post_id and have it cascade and load the other things I want to know about and I'm trying to keep the controller skinny. BUT: I'm ending up with too many dependencies to inject I'm passing in initialized but empty objects I want to limit how many parameters I am passing around I could inject $post(-many) into $thread(one<-), but on that page I'm not looking at a thread, I'm looking at a post I could combine/inject them into a new object Detail If I am injecting an object into another, is it best to have it fully created first? • Ingame menu is not working correctly

  The ingame menu opens when the player presses Escape during the main game. If the player presses Y in the ingame menu, the game switches to the main menu. Up to here, everything works. But: On the other hand, if the player presses N in the ingame menu, the game should switch back to the main game(should resume the main game). But that doesn't work. The game just rests in the ingame menu if the player presses N. I set a breakpoint in this line of the Ingamemenu class: KeyboardState kbState = Keyboard.GetState(); CurrentSate/currentGameState and LastState/lastGameState have the same state: IngamemenuState. But LastState/lastGameState should not have the same state than CurrentSate/currentGameState. What is wrong? • Upgrade Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.10

  To whoever can help, I want to update the ubuntu on my laptop to 12.10 from the current version 11.10, when i click on the update manager i get a partial update gui, if i click cancel on that i get the gui for update which has three buttons check, install updates and upgrade. complete Looks like the SATA interface tries to use 6Gbps link, then fails miserably and Linux fallbacks to 3Gbps. This is somewhat fine for me, as the system boots successfully each time and works under high load (cd linux-3.2.8; make -j16). I've also ran memtest86+ and it did not find any errors. What concerns me more is that Grub sometimes takes a long time to load the images and/or fails to load itself completely. The error is consistent and is probablistic: that is, each time I boot I have a certain chance to fail. Actually, I have a slight suspiction on the cause of the failure. Look at the cabling: What kind of engineer does it this way? Nah. Even 1Gbps Ethernet hardly tolerates cables bent over a small angle, and there you have 6Gbps SATA. How cound I determine and fix the cause of errors and/or switch the link to 3Gbps mode permanently?

• Win XP Pro SP3 MUP.SYS last driver to load before freeze. Can't boot into XP CD / Recovery Console

  I've tried everything and have even looked at the thread on this site "Fresh installation of XP hangs after MUP.SYS" but nothing. I'm running Memtest86+ v4.00 but no luck (everything looks good) It freezes at windows boot screen, not even 1 green block shows up in the loader. I go into safemode and it stops at MUP.SYS, it's probably not MUP.SYS that is the problem but it's probably the next file that is trying to load or something. The end-user has not installed anything at all that could be problematic. I have pulled the HDD out and put it into another pc and have checked it, nothing suspicious at all. It's just as clean as when I first cleaned it up and secured it. Someone / anyone please help! :) Thank you!

• Fedora 12 How to Force a Display to Load on Boot even when no Monitor is Attached

  When booting Fedora 12 with no monitor connected, if I connect a monitor later it gives a no signal error. I think it is set to auto-detect if a monitor is connected or not and load a display based of that. Since it initially detects no monitor no display is loaded. What I would like to do is have it act as if a monitor was always connected and provide the display signal always. I don't know if this is the issue or not but if you know how I might be able to fix this issue so that I can connect a monitor whenever I feel like it without having to restart that would be best. Thanks for the help! :D
