How do I display non-normalized data in a hierarchical structure?

My issue is that I want to display data in a hierarchal structure as so: Democrat County Clerk Candidate 1 Candidate 2 Magistrate Candidate 1 Candidate 2 Candidate 3 But I'm retrieving the dataset like this: Party | Office | Candidate Democrat | County Clerk | Candidate 1 Democrat | County Clerk | Candidate 2 Democrat | Magistrate | Candidate 1 Democrat | Magistrate | Candidate 2 Democrat | Magistrate | Candidate 3 I planned on using nested repeaters, but I need a distinct value of Party, and then distinct values of office name within that party in order to do it. Are there any .NET functions to easily do what I'm attempting to? Would there be a better way of displaying the information other than repeaters? Thanks in advance!

I need help, I don't want to make a copy paste of all the code. the linq query is huge, and it s nested with 5 or 6 queries. also I have to do this on 12 different methods. I am using Java, Spring (NamedParameterJdbcTemplate) and MySQL. My statement looks like this: INSERT INTO Table1 (Name) VALUES (?); INSERT INTO Table2 (Path, Table1Id) VALUES (?, LAST_INSERT_ID()) But it is throwing the following error: PreparedStatementCallback; bad SQL grammar [INSERT INTO Table1 (Name) VALUES (?); INSERT INTO Table2 (Path, Table1Id) VALUES (?, LAST_INSERT_ID())] ` Nested exception is: com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.MySQLSyntaxErrorException: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'INSERT INTO Table2 (Path, Table1Id' at line 1 The syntax works fine in MySQL but something is up when combining via the Spring template. let say I have a parent element which has so many nested child elements inside of itself: <div id="p"> <div id="c1"> <div id="c2"></div> <div id="c3"></div> </div id="c4"> <div id="c5"></div> </div> </div> I've already bind a click event on the parent: $('#p').bind('click', function() { alert($(this).attr('id')); }); Because the event is assigned to the parent element, I always see the parent id, however, I'm wondering if there is any possible way to find out which of this child elements has been clicked? I also can't assign any event to the child elements or remove the event listener from parent div.

How to choose which fields are available via LDAP from an Active Directory

I'm using PHP to do an ldap search and then pull the attributes out using ldap_get_attributes. This returns an array of data (that can be seen here) however there are some fields that are missing such as Organization Title, department, company, address and telephone number. How to I make these fields available? There is a similar question here: http://www.petri.co.il/forums/showthread.php?t=15227 I've followed the steps outlined there an tried changing some access permissions but am not really sure what I'm doing and can't see any permissions that directly relate to the fields that I can see when I edit a user in the "Active Directory Users Computers" window. I am a PHP developer, not a Windows server administrator so am finding configuring an AD rather challenging so please don't assume any level of knowledge about AD. I've asked the same question on stack exchange but understand this is a more relevant place to ask.

In the case of a single access (e.g. x = x.Prop1), I can easily do this with: MemberExpression body = (expression.Body.NodeType == ExpressionType.Convert) ? (MemberExpression)((UnaryExpression)expression.Body).Operand : (MemberExpression)expression.Body; return body.Member.Name; However, if there is deeper nesting, e.g. x = x.Prop1.SubProp1, this only gets the most deeply nested name, e.g. "SubProp1" instead of "Prop1.SubProp1" Is there anyway to access the full property path of a lambda expression?

Various problems with software raid1 array built with Samsung 840 Pro SSDs

I am bringing to ServerFault a problem that is tormenting me for 6+ months. I have a CentOS 6 (64bit) server with an md software raid-1 array with 2 x Samsung 840 Pro SSDs (512GB). Problems: Serious write speed problems: root [~]# time dd if=arch.tar.gz of=test4 bs=2M oflag=sync 146+1 records in 146+1 records out 307191761 bytes (307 MB) copied, 23.6788 s, 13.0 MB/s real 0m23.680s user 0m0.000s sys 0m0.932s When doing the above (or any other larger copy) the load spikes to unbelievable values (even over 100) going up from ~ 1. The problem is that the second SSD in the array has svctm and await roughly 100 times larger than the second. I just don't know what to make of this. As suggested by Mr. Wagner I've done another read test with dd this time and it confirms the hdparm test: root [/home2]# dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/null bs=1G count=10 10+0 records in 10+0 records out 10737418240 bytes (11 GB) copied, 38.0855 s, 282 MB/s root [/home2]# dd if=/dev/sdb of=/dev/null bs=1G count=10 10+0 records in 10+0 records out 10737418240 bytes (11 GB) copied, 115.24 s, 93.2 MB/s So sda is 3 times faster than sdb. Or maybe sdb is doing also something else besides what sda does. Is there some way to find out if sdb is doing more than what sda does? UPDATE Again, as suggested by Mr. Wagner, I have swapped the 2 SSDs. And as he thought it would happen, the problem moved from sdb to sda. So I guess I'll RMA one of the SSDs. I wonder if the cage might be problematic. What is wrong with this array? Please help!

Pure CSS Dropline Menu - second level menu items sit below their parent - but sometimes extend off s

Hi, I'm working on a pure css menu that consists of four levels Level 1 and 2 are a dropline menu in style Levels 3+ are dropdown menus When you hover over a level 1 menu item, the level 2 menu displays directly below menu item you are currently hovering over. However if there are lots of menu items on level 2 then the level 2 menu goes off the screen and you see a horizontal scroll bar. What I want to happen is that if the menu is going to go off the screen I want it to get pushed to the left. For example, if the menu was 300px long, but there was only 250px between the level 1 menu item and the edge of the page, then the level 2 menu should not be placed directly under the level 1 parent, instead it should be 50px to the left. I use a nested unordered list for the menu.

I need a free software for Windows (with gui or command line) that does incremental backup copying all files and storing changed or deleted files in a directory named like last change date (or a progressive number). To be more precise: D:\ is my Data drive E:\ is my Backupdrive. If i want to backup all my data from D:\: E:\d_lastbackup\ will contain a plain copy of all the files and folder content (no compression or archiving, same files attributes) of D E:\d_20090822\ will contain all files (with their full path) that are changed or deleted in the last version (since the previous one) E:\d_20090820\ will contain all files (with their full path) that are changed or deleted in the last version (since the previous one) and so on... I had a software working prefectly with an old USB harddsik by Maxtor, but it works only on that device. Any suggestion?

File paths with XSLT includes

Hi again everyone. I'm working on a website with a large number of pages, and each one has this in it: <xsl:include href="team-menu.xsl" /> This xsl file is stored in the root directory. Essentially including my "team menu" on each page. My problem is when I include this on nested pages, e.g. "/teammembers/smith.xsl", the links in the menu are broken because they refer to pages that aren't in the same directory as the page i'm viewing. This is probably really easy, but I just don't know how to fix it. Is there a way to tell the XSL the root directory and/or set some sort of global directory? Thanks for your help!

I am experiencing some very odd timing behavior from a function I wrote. If I wrap my function inside another empty container function, it gets a 3x speedup. > tic; foo(args); toc time elapsed: ~140 seconds >tic; bar(args); toc time elapsed: ~35 seconds Here's the kicker - the definition of bar(): define bar(args) foo(args) end Is there some sort of optimization that gets triggered in MATLAB for nested function calls? Should I be adding a dummy function to every function that I write?

Copy NSArray and replace text items with bool values

I utilize a (nested) plist to populate UITableViews where users can select entries at the deepest levels and set a checkmark (or not). I want to save these selections in a same structured list where at the deepest level the NSArray contains bool values instead the text strings that are displayed in the UITableView. So how can i build from a hierarchy like the following: Root - Item 0 (Dictionary) - Group (Dictionary) - Items (NSArray) - Item 0: @"Please check me" (String) a hierarchy like this? Problem during JBoss Launch

Hi folks, I've a problem with JBoss 3.2.6. Dynamic Navigation

I am building a project in asp.net 4.0. My navigation will be database driven where i return a datatable from the db containing all the pages of my site, some will be top level while others will be children and sometimes children of children n-times. Im thinking of going down the nested repeater route and databinding from code behind, dynamically generating repeaters for children, but have read that this is not a best practice and should consider the listview control. Im wanting to build a list of links using an unordered list. I cannot find a solid example and was hoping for some pointers/ideas. Thanks Doo

Adding business logic to a domain class using a getter style method name

I'm attempting to add a method to a grails domain class, e.g. class Item { String name String getReversedName() { name.reverse() } } When I attempt to load the application using grails console I get the following error: Caused by: org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'sessionFactory':Invocation of init method failed; nested exception is org.hibernate.PropertyNotFoundException: Could not find a setter for property reversedName in class Item ... 18 more It looks like Hibernate is interpreting getReversedName() as a getter for a property, however in this case it is a derived field and hence should not be persisted. Obviously in my actual code the business logic I'm exposing is more complex but it isn't relevant to this question. I want to be able to call item.reversedName in my code/gsps. How can I provide property (getter) access to a method in a Grails domain class without Grails attempting to map it with Hibernate?

IE7 not digesting JSON: "parse error"

While trying to GET a JSON, my callback function is NOT firing. $.ajax({ type:"GET", dataType:'json', url: myLocalURL, data: myData, success: function(returned_data){alert('success');} }); The strangest part of this is that my JSON(s) validates on JSONlint this ONLY fails on IE7...it works in Safari, Chrome, and all versions of Firefox. If I use 'error', then it reports "parseError"...even though it validates! Is there anything that I'm missing? Does IE7 not process certain characters, data structures (my data doesn't have anything non-alphanumeric, but it DOES have nested JSONs)? I have used tons of other AJAX calls that all work (even in IE7), but with the exception of THIS call. An example data return here is: {"question":{ "question_id":"19", "question_text":"testing", "other_crap":"none" }, "timestamp":{ "response":"answer", "response_text":"the text here" } } I am completely at a loss. Hopefully someone has some insight into what's going on...thank you!

How do I prevent a race condition with locking or using mutexes/semaphors in C++? I'm dealing with a nested for loop in which I will be setting a value in an array: for (int i = 0; i < m; ++i) for (int j = 0; j < n; ++j) for (int k = 0; k < o; ++k) array[k] += foo(...); More or less, I want to deal with this so that I can ensure different threads running at the same time don't write to array[k] at the same time. i have a deeply nested structure (actually parsing out xhtml, so lots of nasty), like so: <tr> <td> <font id="blah"> stuff </font> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> more stuff </td> </tr> and this repeats in a long table. i need an xpath expression that will select the second font tag (or rather it's text()). i was looking at the preceding-sibling axis, but something isn't quite working right. something along the lines of (and pardon me if this is ridiculous, my xpath is rusty) //tr[preceding-sibling::tr/td/font/b]/td/text()

How would you optimize this SQL SELECT SUM(tmp.cost) FROM ( SELECT DISTINCT clients.id as client, countries.credits_cost AS cost FROM countries INNER JOIN clients ON clients.country_id = countries.id INNER JOIN clients_groups ON clients_groups.client_id=clients.id WHERE clients_groups.group_id IN (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) GROUP BY clients.id ) AS tmp; I'm using this example as part of my Ruby on Rails project. Note that my nested SQL (tmp) can have more then 10 milion records. You can split that in more SQLs if the performance is better. Should I add any indexes to make it quicker (i have it on IDs)?
