    I have a relative layout that comprises a TextView and an ImageView: <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" <TextView android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true"/> <ImageView android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentRight="true" android:adjustViewBounds="true"/> </RelativeLayout> It looks as follows: What I want to achieve is: It means that I want my ImageView to scale to fit the TextView by height. Can it be done in xml, without java-coding? If I could write something like android:layout_height="match_that_TextView" it would have solved this issue, but it's impossible I guess.

  • Eclipse and Actionscript 3

    Does anyone know of any good solutions (Eclipse plugins presumably) for using Eclipse to develop in ActionScript 3? There are a number of solutions for developing with ActionScript 2, leveraging MTASC, Swfmill and other open source tools, but I'm specifically looking for AS3 support. It's simple enough to use Eclipse as an editor, and a place from which to invoke Ant scripts to compile with the Adobe command line tools, but I'm looking for syntax colouring, autocompletion, refactoring, debugging - all the modern IDE luxuries. Other tool I've used: FlashDevelop: free and good, but Windows only and doesn't have refactoring. Nevertheless a nice piece of work. IntelliJ Idea: very nice ActionScript 3 support, though not quite as slick as their Java support. Unfortunately AS3 is not supported in the free/community edition of Idea and I'm not ready to purchase the full version as yet.

  • Eclipse takes ages to display breakpoint when running tomcat

    Hi, When tomcat hits a breakpoint in Eclipse, the execution thread stops, but the breakpoint takes absolutely ages to appear in Eclipse. The same is true if I try to inspect a variable; the first time takes about 2 minutes. After that, the debug session is fine. What with that and the CONSTANT need to keep re-publishing to tomcat every time I change something, it's driving me nuts. Does anybody have any ideas why it's so slow? Also, how can I stop tomcat restarting the webapp every time I try to change something during a debug session? I am sure it never used to do that... Eclipse is 3.3.1.1 with J2EE Standard Tools and Web Standard Tools. Tomcat is 5.5 Thanks a lot for any advice! Ryan

    I have coded an Android application composed by a LinearLayout(with an editbox and a button) and a ScrollView(with a LinearLayout that contains a TextView). When the app is started the keyboard pops up immediatly and I don't want this to happen. Have you got some advice??     Hi all, I'm looking for an easy way to integrate a blog into a website that I've developed with HTML and CSS and have already put a considerable amount of time and effort into. I've looked at WordPress, Movable Type, b2evolution, and a few others, but they all seem like overkill for me. I'm only going to be posting 1 maybe 2 times a week at most. Plus, all of the aforementioned tools seem hard to customize. I want my blog to look like the rest of my website, but I don't want to rebuild my site based on one of the blogging tools. Because, as I said before, I've already spent a lot of time rebuilding the site using HTML and CSS. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • Comparing ASP.Net Framework to Cakephp, Zend , Ruby on Rails

    I am a PHP developer migrating to C# ASP.Net Framework. As of right now, I am experienced in using Php for developing sites and I use CakePhp and Zend framework as my RAD tools to help me produce better applications. As I move over to ASP.NET, I have this view that C# ASP.Net framework itself is already a RAD tool and is equivalent to using Cakephp, Zend, or even Ruby on Rails. So I really shouldn't have no concerns trying to find a separate library for ASP.NET that will help me produce better applications. To me, in a sense the ASP.NET is already like a MVC cause it seperates the model from the view and the methods are almost like controllers. So as far as having the best tools are concerned, should I be satisfied with just using ASP.NET as my RAD tool.

I imported the .jar files via properties--java build path: openid4java-0.9.5.jar lib/*.jar In addition I copied the .jar files into the war/WEB-INF/lib directory.   • How can I use Code Contracts in a C++/CLI project?

    I recently stumbled upon Code Contracts and have started using them in my C# projects. However, I also have a number of projects written in C++/CLI. For C# and VB, Code Contracts offer a handy configuration panel in the project properties dialog. For a C++/CLI project, there is no such panel. From the documentation, I got the impression that adding Code Contracts support to a C++/CLI project should be a simple matter of calling some external tools as part of the build process (namely ccrefgen.exe, cccheck.exe, and ccrewrite.exe). However, the number of command line options and restrictions concerning the call sequence have me somewhat intimidated. Can anybody point me to a simple way to run the Code Contracts tools as an automated part of the build process in Visual Studio?

  • Installing ant; clearly misunderstanding JAVA_HOME

    Hey all, I am installing ant on a Windows XP machine, and am following the instructions at Apache's manual site. It said to set JAVA_HOME, so I checked, saw there was no environment variable named JAVA_HOME, made one, and set it to "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_19" When I try to run ant debug, however, it tells me that JAVA_HOME is currently set to "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6" I'm guessing JAVA_HOME isn't an environment variable. But if it isn't one, I'm at a loss as to where to start looking for it. Anybody know? Edit: Oh yeah - it's bugging me for tools.jar as well, but I'm guessing that when I fix the JAVA_HOME issue, that will help the terminal find tools.jar as well. Or maybe I'm wrong. Thanks

    I need to develop a web interface to collect and validate a range of data from many of my organization's clients. This isn't a single form, but a collection of forms with interdependencies (i.e., field X on form Y is needed if field A was equal to C on form B), and variable length lists (please provide the details for all Xs in your possession). I had a look at the marketing on Microsoft InfoPath and Adobe LiveCycle, but I get the impression that they're principally electronic forms solutions rather than data collection tools. (e.g., If a user has entered their address once, they should never have to see it on a form again). Any suggestions of good tools, applications or domain-specific languages?

What are the best tools to know if you want to develop on FPGAs? What are the best languages to study? (what HW description languages?) Have you some examples of little "toy projects" that can be interesting, easy, and "eye-opener"? Thanks in advance.     Many of our customers have access to InstallShield, WISE or AdminStudio. These aren't a problem. I'm hoping there is some way I can provide our smaller customers without access to commercial repackaging tools a freely available set of tools and steps to do the file replacement themselves. Only need to replace a single configuration file inside a compressed MSI, the target user can be assumed to already have Orca installed, know how to use this to customize the Property table (to embed license details for GPO deployment) and have generated an MST file. Disclaimer: this is very similar to another question but both questions and answers in that thread are not clear.

    We build software using Hudson and Maven. We have C#, java and last, but not least PL/SQL sources (sprocs, packages, DDL, crud) For C# and Java we do unit tests and code analysis, but we don't really know the health of our PL/SQL sources before we actually publish them to the target database. Requirements There are a couple of things we wan't to test in the following priority: Are the sources valid, hence "compilable"? For packages, with respect to a certain database, would they compile? Code Quality: Do we have code flaws like duplicates, too complex methods or other violations to a defined set of rules? Also, the tool must run head-less (commandline, ant, ...) we wan't to do analysis on a partial code base (changed sources only) Tools We did a little research and found the following tools that could potencially help: Cast Application Intelligence Platform (AIP): Seems to be a server that grasps information about "anything". Couldn't find a console version that would export in readable format. Toad for Oracle: The Professional version is said to include something called Xpert validates a set of rules against a code base. Sonar + PL/SQL-Plugin: Uses Toad for Oracle to display code-health the sonar-way. This is for browsing the current state of the code base. Semantic Designs DMSToolkit: Quite general analysis of source code base. Commandline available? Semantic Designs Clones Detector: Detects clones. But also via command line? Fortify Source Code Analyzer: Seems to be focussed on security issues. But maybe it is extensible? more... So far, Toad for Oracle together with Sonar seems to be an elegant solution. But may be we are missing something here? Any ideas? Other products? Experiences? Some of the properties I wish to set do expose a programmatic interface to 'default', but many others do not. Is there a generic way to set such properties to their default?     Hi, we have the problem that ShowHelp seems to fail under Vista and Windows Server 2008 if the path name of the help file contains a virtualized folder name. For example, under the German version Vista, "Program Files" is called "Programme". The call System.Windows.Forms.Help.ShowHelp(null, @"C:\Programme\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\Tools\spyxx.chm"); fails, wheras System.Windows.Forms.Help.ShowHelp(null, @"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\Tools\spyxx.chm"); succeeds. If there any way in C# to convert a file path into its non-virtualized counterpart? Or is there any other solution to that problem? Regards

  • How to optimize MATLAB loops?

    I have been working lately on a number of iterative algorithms in MATLAB, and been getting hit hard by MATLAB's performance (or lack thereof) when it comes to loops. I'm aware of the benefit of vectorizing code when possible, but are there any tools for optimization when you need the loop for your algorithm? I am aware of the MEX-file option to write small subroutines in C/C++, although given my algorithms, this can be a very painful option given the data structures required. I mainly use MATLAB for the simplicity and speed of prototyping, so a syntactically complex, statically typed language is not ideal for my situation. Are there any other suggestions? Even other languages (python?) which have relatively painless matrix tools are an option.

  • Is there a certain IIS configuration required to allow a functioning .Net 4.0 ASP.Net MVC 2 Azure ap

    I just installed the Azure 1.2 tools update and would like to get to work on an Azure project running locally using ASP.Net MVC and .Net 4, but I cannot get MVC pages to load. If I just create a new Azure project in VS 2010, add a ASP.Net MVC web role, and run the application, pages never load. It appears that routing is somehow at fault as controller actions never get called, but if I add other pages to the project (like .htm or .aspx) they will load in the browser. It all works fine with a new project using .Net 3.5, MVC 2 project in the Azure development environment; it all works fine with .Net 4.0 MVC 2 project that is not running in Azure; only the combination does not work. Environment is Win 7 x64 (IIS 7.5), VS 2010, Azure tools 1.2 Is there some magic IIS setting I need to change or something? Any ideas?

They are mostly concerned with packing installations and providing a framework for developers to access the run time environment. With the growing requirement for web deployment and automatic software updates, I expected to find more of a consensus among developers on a framework for web delivery of software and subsequent updates, I haven't really found that consensus. There are certainly solutions available (ClickOnce, ClickThrough, InstallShield Update Service), but they each have considerable limitations (please correct me if I mis-represent any of these). I would be interested in a framework that provided some of the following: Third party hosting/management of updates. Access to client environment (INI files, registry, etc..). User registration/activation. Feedback/Error reporting This is leaving me with the strong impression that the best way to approach the web deployment problem is through a custom built proprietary solution (possibly leveraging existing installer packaging). I have seen this sort of solution work well for a number of successful applications: FileZilla - HTTP request to update.filezilla-project.org to check for updates, downloads an NSIS binary (I think) and then shuts down to run the install.

    I recently performed a migration-upgrade from TFS 2008 to TFS 2010. Almost everything is working properly now. However, our team is getting duplicate emails now. I'm guessing this is because I used the TFS 2008 power tools to setup alerts. After the upgrade, I installed the TFS 2010 power tools and noticed that there were not alerts configured. I setup new alerts and now we get duplicates. Is it possible the old alerts configuration is floating around in the db somewhere?

  • When VS 2010 RC is going to be released?

    I was looking to install the latest Windows Azure Tools for Microsoft Visual Studio. However, this version doesn't work with Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2. They say that the latest version of Azure Tools & SDK will only work with VS 2008 and VS 2010 RC and that for VS 2010 Beta 2 I still need to install November release. I know that VS 2010 is going to be released on April 12th this year but does anyone knows when VS 2010 RC is coming out? EDIT: The full RTM version of Visual Studio 2010 is released as of April 14, 2010.

    Which is better for quickly developing small utilities? AutoIt or AutoHotKey or something else? I need to develop some small software for which I think using some professional suite like Visual Studio will be overkill. Most of the macro recording tools like AutoIt or AutoHotKey provide enough power to write decent application. Plus they are small and free. Which option will be good? Using one of these tools or using some other small/free compiler?
