• Egy konferencia marg&oacute;j&aacute;ra

  Nem akarok provokátornak tunni, de lenne egy-két észrevételem az amúgy jól sikerült Open Source 2011 konferencia kapcsán. Persze a mi rendezvényeinkre is lehet panasz, amit szívesen is veszünk, hogy tanuljunk belole. Szóval nem sikerült az elektronikus regisztráció, pedig még fel is hívtak elotte, meg minden. Ennek ellenére a helyszíni listában mégsem voltam benne. Persze gyorsan megoldották, de azért mégis egy informatikai konferenciáról van szó. Ha már open source, akkor tényleg olyan nehéz lett volna Linuxos gépeket, odahozni OpenOffice (vagy LibreOffice, vagy akármi) telepítéssel. Volt is minden eloadásváltásnál megjegyzés. Azt már nem is említem, hogy persze a néhány kivételtol eltekintve a legtöbben ppt hoztak. Persze egy részük készülhetett OpenOffice-ban is. Mondjuk erre azért fogadnék. Persze volt aki nem ppt-ben hozta és még fel is hívta rá a figyelmet, hogy bezzeg o nem a Microsoft eszközeivel ad elo. Helyette azért egy másik fizetossel sikerült elmondani, hogy milyen jó, hogy nem kerül semmibe az open source. Ami amúgy nagyon jó prezentációs alkalmazás. (Jutalom nélkül, mi lehetett az? Válaszokat ide várom a blogra.) A tartalom, mint mondtam érdekes volt. Persze lenne min vitatkozni, de ezt esetleg majd a konkrét téma kapcsán. Idén nem vettünk részt eloadóként, de szerintem jövore ez már változhat. Az esti program is nagyon jó volt, különösen Soma buvész lenyugözo trükkjei.

  It has been another fantastic year for TechEd North America.  I always love my time here.  First, I have to give a huge thank you to Ineta for giving me the opportunity to work the Ineta booth and BOF’s (birds of a feather).   I can not even begin to list how many fantastic leaders in the .Net space and Developers from all over I have met through Ineta at this event.  It has been truly amazing and great fun!! New Orlean’s has been awesome.  The night life is hoppin’.  In addition to enjoying a few (too many??) of the local hurricanes in New Orleans, I have hung out with some of the coolest people  Deepesh Mohnani, David Poll, Viresh, Alan Stephens, Shawn Wildermuth, Greg Leonardo, Doug Seven, Chris Willams, David Carley and some of our southcentral hero’s Jeffery Palermo, Todd Anglin, Shawn Weisfeld, Randy Walker, The midnight DBA’s, Zeeshan Hirani, Dennis Bottjer just to name a few. A big thanks to Microsoft and everyone that has helped to put TechEd together.  I have loved hanging out with people from the Silverlight and Expression Teams and have learned a ton.  I am ramped up and ready to take all that knowledge back to my co-workers and my community. I can not wait to see you all again next year in Atlanta!!!   Una de las necesidades más habituales en el desarrollo es poder validar los controles Textbox para que solo acepten valore numéricos. En este post eso es lo que haremos, nos apoyaremos en el lenguaje javascript para validar nuestro textbox del lado del cliente. • Setup for mounting kerberized nfs home directory - gssd not finding valid kerberos ticket

  Our home directories are exported via kerberized nfs, so the user needs a valid kerberos ticket to be able to mount its home. This setup works fine with our existing clients & server. Now we want to add some 11.10 client and thus set up ldap & kerberos together with pam_mount. The ldap authentication works and users can login via ssh, however their homes can not be mounted. When pam_mount is configured to mount as root, gssd does not find a valid kerberos ticket and the mount fails. • Mobile and Social for Retail

  I've got two speaking gigs in the next few weeks, so I thought I'd preview both here. First I'll be at eTail West on February 24th to talk about mobile. I'll be previewing a new study of how shoppers are using mobile phones. Here's a sneak peek at one of the slides: It should be no surprise that as more consumers adopt smartphones, more are finding ways to use them to help with shopping. Sometimes that's to find a store, download a coupon, or do price comparisons. I'll also be discussing the NRF Mobile Blueprint, and will walk through an example of mobile impacting the in-store experience. Retailers need to look upon mobile as the method of bringing the digital assets of e-commerce into the aisles to enhance shopping. On March 9th I'll be at NRF Innovate co-presenting with Jon Kubo of Wet Seal on social strategies. Jon is a retail innovation rock-star and I always learn something new from every conversation with him. Below is a another slide preview: I cheated a little on the top 10 most popular retailer pages by not including Victoria's Secret Pink. VC is already represented, so I didn't include them a second time. The most interesting statistic I found was that the average user spends 55 minutes on Facebook a day. Wow! I also decided to use the old "Like" and "Fan" icons just because I like them better (pun intended). Wet Seal has been collecting interesting statistics on liked products, so I hope Jon will share lots (I'm on a roll). Hope to see you at both events.

• Can't install Ubuntu on Asus Eee 1015pem

  I'm having trouble to install Ubuntu. I use a ASUS Eee 1015pem netbook. Recently, I my netbook got wet. I had it inside my backback and all my things got wet. The netbook boots up fine but it will not load the OS. I downloaded ubuntu onto my external hard drive and changed the settings in my Bios to boot from a removable device. Nothing happens. When I plug in my external hard drive I'm not able to get to the boot icon. I have to unplug it the external hard drive. Set my boot settings I tried both Removable and CD-Rom. Than I plug my external drive back in and nothing happens on either settings. My Asus never came with a recovery disk and suppose to have a build in recovery by pressing F9 in the Bios. Also I need to disable Boot Booster in Bios and Boot Booster is not even an opition in Bios. My friend told me try installing Ubuntu but now I'm having no luck with Ubuntu. Any suggestions?

  I have an asus k55VM. The problem is that once done the partitions to install windows 7 finalize you and then ubuntu 12.10 the grub not to appear. On having created the table of partitions with gparted I did it in format msdos but then on having installed windows gently accepted me and he says to me that I must do it with format gpt therefore I erase the disc in the assistant of installation and believe a partition of 160 gb Later between with live CD to ubuntu and believe other partitions between which, one ext4 for ubuntu... I install and restart. On having restarted the grub does not go out but if the partitions appear of windows. To seeing if someone helps me am desperate. Thank you very much Tengo un asus k55VM. El problema es que una vez hechas las particiones instalar windows 7 ultimate y luego ubuntu 12.10 no aparece el grub. Al crear la tabla de particiones con gparted lo hice en formato msdos pero luego al instalar windows no me acepta y me dice que debo hacerlo con formato gpt por lo tanto borro el disco en el asistente de instalacion y creo una particion de 160 gb Posteriormente entre con live cd a ubuntu y creo otras particiones entre las cuales, un ext4 para ubuntu... Instalo y reinicio. Al reiniciar no sale el grub pero si aparecen las particiones de windows. A ver si alguien me ayuda estoy desesperado. Muchas gracias

• Can't install Ubuntu Software Center

  I'm running Ubuntu 13.10 32bit with Gnome 3.8 but am missing the Ubuntu Software Center. I tried to install it via terminal: $ sudo apt-get install software-center But that tells me that dependencies are not met The following packages have unmet dependencies: software-center : Depends: gir1.2-webkit-3.0 but it is not going to be installed gir1.2-webkit-3.0 depends on gir1.2-javascriptcoregtk-3.0 of version 1.10.2-0ubuntu2. But that package is only available as version 2.0.4-2~ubuntu13.04. I am missing the Ubuntu Software Center as well as the Update Manager and the packages update-notifyer and ubuntu-release-upgrader-gtk. How can I install the packages with correct dependencies? Shawn started out giving us a set of bad design/good design examples.  They very effectively showed how good design gives a sense of professionalism to your app that could determine if your wonderful idea actually makes money is DOA. • Directing Multiple ccTLD's to 1 gTLD with a country specific subdirectory?

  We have multiple ccTLDomains and are thinking about how to best combine these into one. We want to do this to focus our link building efforts. We are running a website through which we offer a software-as-a-service. Therefore we could potentially sell to any country in the world. However, Germany is our most important market. We currently have a .com, .de, .nl. and .pl domain. All these domains have a high amount of unique content pages. What we are planning is to change everything to .com with language-based subdirectories, so .com/en/, .com/de/, etc. I have two questions concerning this issue: 1) How much of an advantage does a ccTLD have over a gTLD with country specific subdirectories in search rankings? So let’s say .de versus .com/de/? 2) How could we best redirect the visitors of our old ccTLD’s to our gTLD’s subdirectories? We would like to loose as few search engine rankings as possible.   Hello everyone. I still have a question about Enumerations. Here's a quick sketch of the situation. I have a class Backpack that has a Hashmap content with as keys a variable of type long, and as value an ArrayList with Items. I have to write an Enumeration that iterates over the content of a Backpack. But here's the catch: in a Backpack, there can also be another Backpack. And the Enumeration should also be able to iterate over the content of a backpack that is in the backpack. (I hope you can follow, I'm not really good at explaining..)   Andei fazendo uns testes no AJAX Control Toolkit 4 que deverá ser usado com o ASP.NET 4 no Visual Studio .NET 2010 e confesso que gostei muito. O link para download é http://www.asp.net/ajaxlibrary/act.ashx e todas as instruções constam no site. Notei que há diversos controles novos e um que me chamou a atenção foi o de Upload assíncrono para controlar os uploads de arquivos para o server. Vale a pena estudar um pouco estas novidades. Para quem já usava o AJAX no ASP.NET 3.5, a idéia do Toolkit é igual, exceto a adição de novos controles. Com o AJAX vc pode mudar todo o comportamento da sua aplicação WEB, requisições no server passam a ser menos frequentes, o layout ajuda e muito com os controles do AJAX. Nativamente no VS 2010 já há o AJAX que a MS suporta nativamente (ScriptManager, UpdatePanel, UpdateProgress, etc), mas vale a pena implementar alguns controles do Toolkit. Bons estudos!
