• What CPAN module can send all warnings and errors to a log file?

  I'm maintaining some website code that currently dumps all errors and warnings into the apache log. This is a problem for me as i cannot access that due to lack of root. As such I am looking to redirect all warnings and errors to a specified log file under my control. I'd like to do so without preventing those messages from going through their usual patch of execution. Now, before i spend a lot of time fiddling with the Perl internals and possibly breaking things unawares I thought I'd look for a CPAN module that does this. However, I either do not know how to properly search for this, or I am overlooking something and thus cannot find any module that seems suitable. Thus my asking here: What CPAN module would i use for this task?

• Passing data between states PHP

  So I am using Limonade PHP which has a RESTful design which emulates PUT, POST, DELETE routes for create, update, delete. I am trying to develop some form validation which is going well. The major problem I am facing though is how to return my filtered data (which has failed validation) back to repopulate the create or edit form. How would this be done? I currently have for creating a page: /admin/page/new -> GET function /admin/page -> POST function + validate + pass, update db + fail, add errors to flash, redirect to /admin/page/mew It all falls down as I do not know how to populate the /admin/page/new with the invalid, but filtered data.

• Implications of not forwarding http:// to http://www.

  Hi, my company is running IIS and DNN (I'm not a server guy, so color me ignorant), and I've read previous that you should either redirect your .http://www.mydomain to .http://mydomain or Vice Versa. Can anyone give me reasons to do this? (periods "prepended" to remove href) From what I understand, it's because search engines see those as two different 'sites' (Even when visiting one or the other, I can be logged into one but not the other). I also heard it can be a duplicate content problem, which search engines dislike. Just looking for some professional insight, will help me and others. Thanks!

• Question on dynamic URL parsing

  I see many, many sites that have URLs for individual pages such as http://www.mysite.com/articles/this-is-article-1 http://www.mysite.com/galleries/575 And they don't redirect, they don't run slowly... I know how to parse URL's, that's easy enough. But in my mind, that seems slow and cumbersome on a dynamic site. As well, if the pages are all staticly built (hende the custom URL) then that means all components of the page are static as well... (which would be bad) I'd love to hear some ideas about how this is typically accomplished.

• Map Custom URL protocol to HTTP (using NSURLProtocol?)

  I have an application using a WebKit WebView and I'd like to map URL's that are loaded in this WebView with a custom URL protocol to a different HTTP URL. For example, say I am loading: custom://path/to/resource I would like to internally actually load: http://something-else.com/path/to/resource In other words, the custom protocol serves almost as a shorthand. I can't however use -webView:resource:willSendRequest:redirectResponse:fromDataSource:, because I want WebKit to actually believe this is the URL in question, not to simply redirect from one to the other. So far I've been attempting to use a custom NSURLProtocol subclass. However, this is proving trickier than I first thought because, at least to my understanding, I will have to do the actual loading myself in the NSURLProtocol subclass' startLoading method. I'd like a way to just hand off the work to the existing HTTP protocol loader, but I can't find an easy way to do this. Does anyone have a recommendation for this, or perhaps an alternative way to solve this issue? Thanks!

  Hi, I am devolping a web application.the problem is that i am using a login control (not a .NET control) which is a part of master page and is acessible from all pages. if user log In from a page the login control updates itself and displlay some statistics of logged In user but the specific page does not reload. (some options on page are visible only to authenticated users, so that after login, page should be reloaded to display such options) after logIn methoed I wrote Reponse.Redirect(Request.Url.AbsoluteUri) after this the browser response the "Page cannot be displayed" It would be of great help to me.   Hello, I am trying to write some mod_rewrite rules to generate thumbnails on the fly. So when this url example.com/media/myphoto.jpg?width=100&height=100 the script should rewrite it to example.com/media/myphoto-100x100.jpg and if the file exists on the disk it gets served by Apache and if it doesn't exist it is called a script to generate the file. The first condition is matched and the rule is executed and right after that I get an internal redirect. I need advice to finish this script. Thank you.

• Checking if language is set in url with regex

  I have am working on a multi language file. My urls look something like this: http://www.mydomain.com/en/about/info http://www.mydomain.com/nl/about/info Now I use a small regex script that redirect the user when they use a link without language. The script looks like this: preg_match('~^/[a-z]{2}/~', $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'] This finds out is there is a language set en|nl|de etc. This works fine on all links except for these: http://www.mydomain.com/en http://www.mydomain.com/nl There is no trailing slash so the regex can not find the given values. Anyone know a fix for this?

All I want to do is run some code before the user heads off to Paypal to pay for their order, but I have no idea how to do it. The user should click a submit button, changes are made (in this case, the status of the order), and then the user is redirected to the payment gateway.   Google can't find much user documentation for XPCOM. Sure, it can find endless references to making new XPCOM components in C++, but that's utterly useless to anyone who needs to know how to use the existing components from JavaScript. This is a huge gap, occasionally touched on by trivial examples of creating an instance and calling a method. Has nobody with a more in-depth knowledge of the componentry written anything about its use? Using components with multiple interfaces? Implementing listeners for handling asynchronous behaviour? "Rapid Application Development with Mozilla" is no help (great breadth but little depth). Spotty references that exist to the defunct XULPlanet redirect to Mozilla Development Center, but that's pretty useless. Mozilla Development Center articles point back to XULPlanet, which is a joke. Is this the best an army of open source advocates can muster to promote the extension of The Beast?

UPDATE: It appears that the user actually is impersonated successfully but is loosing their Role as admin (only Admin Role's can access this impersonation page).

Check if the user is allowed to access the repository. If above is true, get the location of X from a mysql server. Run a hgweb cgi script (python) containing the path of the repository. Here is the problem, I want to: take the hgweb script, modify it, and run it. But I do not want to: take the hgweb script, modify it, write it to a file and redirect there.   In my rails app, I want to have a sortable list as part of an object creation. The best practice suggested Railscast adds the acts_as_list plugin and then initiates AJAX calls to update item position. However, AJAX calls won't work on an unsaved model, which is the situation with new. One solution would be to save the model immediately on new and redirect to edit. This would have a nice side effect of persisting any change so the user could resume work should he be interrupted. However, this solution adds the unwanted complexity of saving an invalid model, compromising rails' validation processes. Is there any better way to allow AJAX + validations without going into too much work?

  Hello, I need to do some processing only after the user has successfully logged in the system. I have thought that I can do a RESTful method and setting it as the default-target-url so when the login is successful it goes to this url and then I can redirect to the real index of my web application. <form-login login-page='/login.htm' default-target-url='/home.htm' always-use-default-target='true' /> The problem is that this processing can be executed by calling its URL so it could be executed by any user at any time.   I need to develop a transparent filter to redirect outgoing HTTP packets to a local proxy, to do transparent content filtering. Which is the best technology to do it, TDI or NDIS IM? My main constraint is to avoid conflicts with antivirus software, which also do some kind of packet redirection to inspect HTTP content (I don't know whether antivirus programs use TDI, NDIS IM, or both). Rather than writing the driver myself, actually, I'm also considering two commercial SDKs for packet filtering/modification: one uses a TDI driver while the other uses a NDIS IM driver, so that's the origin of my question (I was only aware of NDIS IM, before looking at the two SDKs).

  Hi, I am doing some url redirections in a project that I am currently working on. I am new to web development and was wondering what the best practise was to remove any illegal path characters, such as ' ? etc. I'm hoping I don't have to resort to manually replacing each character with their encoded urls. I have tried UrlEncode and HTMLEncode, but UrlEncode doesn't cater for the ? and HTMLEncode doesn't cater for ' E.G. If I was to use the following: Dim name As String = "Dave's gone, why?"
