I have one horizontally div on the top of my page with a height of 50px. And now I want to put another div right below it which will fill the rest of entire page (should work with any kind of resolution). Does anyone know how to do this only with CSS? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

  • How to disable a YUI MenuBarItem from markup

    - by Bears will eat you
I prefer creating my nav menus from markup (rather than Javascript), like in this example. Is it possible to create menus and/or menu items from markup which are disabled? I see how to use Javascript to do this (use the disabled config property), but I'm looking for some way to encode this information in markup - perhaps there's a CSS class to use? Or am I out of luck here?

  • clear properties from stylesheets

    - by jeremydouglas
I'm wondering if anyone knows of a script to clear all the properties from a css stylesheet, but leave the selectors. For instance: body {background: #000; font-size:10px; width:100%;} becomes: body {} This would be done to the whole stylesheet. Thanks if anyone knows of a script to do this.

  • jQuery - Set min-height of div

    - by Kenny Bones
This is probably really easy for most of you. But I'm in need of a small snippet that looks up the current height of a div (the div has a dynamic height based on the content inside it) and then set that value in the css class's min-height value. Basically what this means is that I want this container to have it's min-height to be the exact same value as it's current height. This is probably a quick one :)

  • How to align Definition Lists in IE6 ?

    - by ellander
I'm having a major headache trying to align some and elements in ie6. It looks fine in ie7 and firefox but the dt elements don't appear in ie6. can anyone help? here is the code.. <div id="listMembers"> <h3>Members</h3> <dl class="myDL"> <dt>Name</dt> <dd>John Smith</dd> <dt>Address</dt> <dd>the street</dd> ... </dl> <div id="listOptions"> <div> <table>...</table> </div> </div> <div> and the css:- DL.myDL { BORDER-RIGHT: black 2px outset; PADDING-RIGHT: 2px; BORDER-TOP: black 2px outset; DISPLAY: block; PADDING-LEFT: 2px; BACKGROUND: #ccbe99; PADDING-BOTTOM: 2px; BORDER-LEFT: black 2px outset; WIDTH: auto; PADDING-TOP: 2px; BORDER-BOTTOM: black 2px outset; FONT-FAMILY: "Trebuchet MS", Arial, sans-serif } DL.myDL DT { CLEAR: both; PADDING-RIGHT: 3px; DISPLAY: inline; FLOAT: left; WIDTH: 250px; TEXT-ALIGN: right } I basically want the dt text aligned to the right and the dd on the right hand side with left align text. I reset the margin on all elements to be 0 before anything else in the css and the elements are within a dive with position relative.

  • Correct term for PSD to HTML to CMS

    - by John Magnolia
Hi, I have heard a lot of different terms to describe the process of turning a website design into a editable CMS. Currently I take the design and "slice" this up into HTML and CSS then I "plug" this into a CMS. I would class this as frontend development depending on the level of customisation required for the CMS. The reason I ask is I am currently writing up my CV and have become stuck on the correct term for this. Kind Regards

  • Future of IE9: Opacity + Performance

    - by chris_l
I just tried the IE9 "Second Internet Explorer Platform Preview" - which supports CSS opacity now. That's nice, but I tried it with one of my website prototypes, and it's quite slow when scrolling etc. Admittedly, the prototype uses hundreds of images with opacity != 1, but everything is snappy with current versions of Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Opera. Does anybody know, if there are plans for IE9 to become faster in this area? Even rumours about this would be interesting in this case.

  • Chrome not displaying a div

    - by Kyle Sevenoaks
Click here to see a simple example of what I want. It's really easy, but for some reason Google won't display the "subTotalCaption2" div. It's part of a foreach loop, if needed I can add other codes. There is nothing else in the rest of the css to mess with this, I have checked about 10 times. See it live at euroworker.no/order (add items to basket) In FF and Chrome. Thanks.

  • HTML5 elements working in Chrome but not Safari or Firefox?

    - by Chris Armstrong
Hi, I'm using the HTML5 elements and in a project i'm working on (see it here) and the css seems to be working fine in Chrome. However, it doesn't appear to be working in Safari or Firefox (I haven't tested IE, but I'd imagine it's the same), and the page layout is all over the place. Any ideas why this may be? I know Firefox and Safari both support these elements, and Safari is webkit-based like Chrome, so I can't figure out what the problem is.

Hi, I'm looking to add a centered magnifying glass icon to my portfolio gallery. Like the effect at http://jquerystyle.com/gallery. I know I can do this with css at each instance, but I would like to find a way to do it automatically. Any jquery plugins that do this? Thanks!
