• Cannot use Html.ActionLink in asp.net mvc spark files

  I'm using the spark view engine with my asp.net mvc application. In my aspx pages, I can succesfully use Html.Actionlink, but when I attempt it in spark files, it doesnt show up in intellisense, and when i try to run it anyway, i get: Dynamic view compilation failed. c:\Users\midas\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\ChurchMVC\ChurchMVC\Views\Home\Index.spark(73,25): error CS1061: 'System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHelper' does not contain a definition for 'ActionLink' and no extension method 'ActionLink' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHelper' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) I do have system.web.mvc referenced, and I have added in _global.spark. None of that helps. Any ideas?

My desired output is this: <th>Empresa</th> Thanks! EDIT I tried DisplayFor or DisplayTextFor as suggested, but they are not valid because they generate: <th>Amazon</th> They return the value of the property... I want the name from the Display attribute.

  i'm trying to take advantage of html 5 web sockets in .NET and the easiest way appears to do something like this guy does: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/webservices/c_sharp_web_socket_server.aspx?msg=3485900#xx3485900xx i've already tested this myself and it works great, but there are a few problems if i try to deploy this to my hosting site (discountasp.net). basically i am not allowed to open up a port on 8080 and listen on it. i then tried to figure out a way to listen non port 80 with IIS as well, but using the HTTPListener runs into sercurity issues as well that doesn't seem like will help since i can't mess with this stuff on the hosting site server either: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/169904/can-i-listen-on-a-port-using-httplistener-or-other-net-code-on-vista-without-r so to make my life easier, i think i need to find a hosting site that simply allows me to open up a socket on port 8080 and listen on it. anyone know of one? or anyone know of a workaround (besides sniffing ALL the traffic on port 80)?

  rig: win7 64bit, vs2010, mvc v2, TestDriven.Net 3.0, Reshaper 5.0, MSpec 0.3 i recently started a new project and want to use mspec. (1) copied Machine.Specifications.ReSharperRunner.5.0.dll and Machine.Specifications.dll to JetBrains\ReSharper\5.0\Bin\Plugins\Machine.Specifications (2) copied Machine.Specifications.TDNetRunner.dll to TestDriven.NET 3\Machine.Specifications when i try to run the test i get this error: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Machine.Specifications i don't know where this error is coming from. vs2010 menu - ReSharper -Plugins shows the MSpec plugin. vs2010 menu -ReSharper - Options - Tools - Unit Testing also shows the MSpec unit testing provider but it doesn't show any details when i click on it as does MSTest and nUnit. i found this: http://marcinobel.com/index.php/mspec-bdd-installer/ which didn't work. i also tried this: http://eduncan911.com/blog/registering-mspec-runners-for-testdriven-net-on-windows-x64.aspx which also didn't work. now i fear i screwed my registry. any guidance?

Also Visual studio 2010 ultimate. I did not upgrade the target .net framework to 4.0 because my host will not support this for ~24 hours. I have a .Tests project in the same solution that says it is targeting .net 4.0 but it still won't build even with that unloaded, same message.

  Hello All, I am very new to ASP.NET MVC and currently, I am involved in developing a new application in ASP.NET MVC 2. I am having problem in managing a long querystring parameters that comes from dBase. For example, in any non-mvc app the following URL works well: http ://example.com/test.aspx?first_name=fname&last_name=lname&email_id=email&address1=add1&address2=add2&city=city&state=state&zip_code=zip and so on. The QueryString parameter can be determined on the fly (i.e. at run-time). Now for dynamic QueryString how routing will be done? Also for a simple URL, the URL will be as follows (in ASP.NET MVC): http ://example.com/test/id/category But for above mentioned dynamic & long QueryString how the URL will look like?   I am trying to install php on my windows 7 machine. I have installed IIS 6.x and I have also installed php. I used this tutorial http://blogs.iis.net/bills/archive/2006/09/19/How-to-install-PHP-on-IIS7-_2800_RC1_2900_.aspx The only thing I didnt understand is this part: 4) Install IIS7, making sure you install the ISAPI Extension component (for PHP-ISAPI - which is what I use) or the CGI component (if you prefer CGI) during IIS installation (ISAPI and CGI are not installed by default) Now when i go to localhost I get an error. HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid. 4: <handlers> 5: <add name="PHP" path="*.php" verb="*" modules="FastCgiModule" scriptProcessor="C:\web\php5\php-cgi.exe" resourceType="Unspecified" /> 6: </handlers> Also php pages do not work in IE, please help

• Add table of contents to RTF document

  I am trying to generate a RTF document by hand and eventually will do it programtically. I plan to improve pyRTF so that it can generate "Table of contents", which I think it can't. I am not able to use RTF controls words (\tc, \tcf and \tcl.) to generate a TOC. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa140283(office.10).aspx gives details about TOC but I couldn't find or make any example RTF which have a TOC. So is there a simple sample showing a RTF with TOC?

• Best reverse proxy for IIS 6?

  I want to set up a reverse proxy from one of our intranet IIS sites to point to another tomcat server. Eg, i want the user to browse to 'http://our-iis-server/friendly-url' and for it to reverse proxy to 'http://our-tomcat-server/ugly-url'. What would be the best solution for this? I've narrowed it down to three options: http://www.managedfusion.com/products/url-rewriter/documentation.aspx http://www.isapirewrite.com/ http://www.codeplex.com/IIRF Also, can these tools rewrite the links in the html? • Can you precompile and merge part of an ASP.NET website and then continue development?

  A big part of the web site is precompiled and merged, since it's almost never going to change. The precompiled bits can be replaced in case of updates to the original. I want to continue development of new pages, but when I browse to a new page I get the following error: The file '/Website/Test/Default.aspx' has not been pre-compiled, and cannot be requested. Is there any way around this? Edit: If I remove the precompileApp.config file I get the contents of the marker files when I browse them: This is a marker file generated by the precompilation tool, and should not be deleted!

Yahoo no longer complains with the message "Warning: This website has not confirmed its identity with Yahoo! and might be fraudulent." as outlined in Andrew Arnott's excellent blog post: http://blog.nerdbank.net/2008/06/why-yahoo-says-your-openid-site.html However, when I try to authenticate using AOL I see the "Warning! site verification could not be completed." message.

This class will replace the Model during the development of the page. It will also hold some test data for the user to have the chance to see some results. Once we are happy with the layout on the screen, I will inherit the correct Model class through the Control tag. Can you please advise if this is possible and how to do it? • MVC.NET UpdateModel doesn't update inherited public properties??

  I refactored some common properties into a base class and immediately my model updates started failing. UpdateModel() and TryUpdateModel() do not seem to update inherited public properties. I cannot find detailed info on MSDN nor Google as to the rules or semantics of these methods. The docs are terse (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd470933.aspx), simply stating: Updates the specified model instance using values from the controller's current value provider. Well that leads us to believe it is as simple as that. It makes no mention of limitations with inheritance. My assumption is the methods are reflecting on the top class only, ignoring base properties, but this seems to be an ugly shortcoming, if so.

• Why does ASP.Net locks when I update code with TortoiseSVN

  Hi, when I update Adobe Flash/Flex code that is not related to ASP.Net with TortoiseSVN (latest) on a Windows Server 2008, the complete website locks and stop responding. Is it ASP.Net recompiling my code, is it IIS 7 or is it Tortoise locking the file system? How can I prevent or minimize this if I need to do an update when 1000 users are using the ASP.Net website? UPDATE: Thanks to Aito and Bryan, I learned more about AppDomain. I found these two links where I discover that folder creation/deletion recycle the AppDomain in ASP.Net 2. --If TortoiseSVN creates folders in it's hidden .svn folders hierarchy, I guess it will lock the app! I am creating the .vcs file dynamically when clicked on a hyperlink.   I am doing a test after reading an article http://blogs.msdn.com/alexj/archive/2009/08/07/tip-30-how-to-use-a-custom-store-function.aspx about udf function called. When I use a function with objectContext.Entities.Where( t= udf(para1, para2) == 1), here the Entities is not ObjectQuery, but an ObjectSet, the first time I call the method, it runs correctly, if I reuse the objectContext,and run it again but with different para1, para2, then the previous parameter values still cached, and the result is same as previous one, which is wrong. The sql profiler shows that both query hit the database, but the t-sql is the same. Am I missing something? And the ObjectSet does not support .where(esql_string). How to get udf working with ObjectSet? Thanks Fred

  Hello, I am new to using AppFabric to host WF services. I am trying to write a workflow admin application that will allow users to create xaml workflow definitions using the hosted WF4 designer, and then somehow allow those workflow defitions to be automatically deployed and hosted in AppFabric with the click of a button. I have the designer going, and I have read a couple of tutorials on how to host workflow services in AppFabric such as http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee677238.aspx, but my problem is how to deploy and host the workflow services via code. Does anyone know if this sort of "autodeploy/host" thing can be done with AppFabric? If so, could you point me in the right direction on this? -David

• Quaddratic Bezier Curve: Calculate Tangent

  Hello, I have have a quadratic bezier curve and I want to calculate the slope of the tangent in a given point. For example, let it be the middlepoint of the quadratic bezier curve, therefore t=0.5 (please see the link below for a picture of this). I've calculated the first derivation of the formula for the quadratic bezier curve, however I get 400 as value for the slope, though it should be 0. Maybe I'm using the first derivation in a wrong way? I know I could also calculate the tangents using trigonometric functions, however I'd like to do it using the first derivation, shouldn't this be possible? Thanks for any hint! For clarification / please note: I'm interested in a general way to get the slope in a arbitrary given point on a quadratic bezier curve, not only to get the tangent in the start- and end point. • Easiest way to generate P/Invoke code?

  I am an experienced .Net programer, but have not compiled a C/C++ program in my life. Now I have this C-dll, headers and documentation (3rd party, not from Win API), from which I need to call about ten methods. I was thinking of using Platform Invoke. I found these three tools that would create the code for me: PInvoker: http://www.pinvoker.com P/Invoke Interop Assistant: http://www.codeplex.com/clrinterop P/Invoke Wizard: http://www.paulyao.com/res/pinvoke/pinvoke.aspx and possibly Swig: http://www.swig.org/ Pinvoker seems to have a bit different approach than the Interop assistant and the Wizard. Swig I just found when checking that this question has not been asked here. What are the pros and cons of these tools? What would be the best = easiest and safest way for me to produce the P/Invoke code given that I don't know much about C/C++?
