• Acordex Image viewer throws out of memory exception in CITRIX environment

  We have a .net 2.0 application. In the .aspx page we are calling the java applet using . This applet is calling the Acordex Image viewer. In the production environment users are facing "out of memory" or "insufficient memory" issues when users try to open the image or magnify an image in Acordex viewer. Strangely when the users logout and login again they are able to see the same image without any errors. The website is hosted in a CITRIX environment. We have access to this environment but we are not able to reproduce this issue on the test servers or the local machines. We dont know what is causing this issue. What should we do to troubleshoot the issue? Do we have to increase the memory allotted to the users in CITRIX? The RAM is around 4 gb.   I am using the stored procedure below for the select command of a SqlDataSource, and I'm trying to pass a query string parameter, but I get this error: Procedure or function 'ActivationCampaignGetById' expects parameter '@campaignId', which was not supplied. • SSL Login in iFrame

  My UI prototype requires me to show the sites login info all the time. Either I should show the usual username and password textbox or "you are logged in as". The last bit don't have to be secure, as it's only info to the user, nothing I will use server side. But the first part should send secure to the server. It seems that I would have to use https for all pages on the site then. I would like to only use ssl for the things that are required to be secure. One way is putting the login information into a https://../login.aspx and show it on my mainpage as an IFrame. One disadvantage I can see is that the user won't know that https is being used, unless they read the IFrame src in the source code. What do you think?

• How to use Microsoft.Web.Administration.dll to get the site information the page is running on?

  I have a half dozen sites on my server and I would like to get some info from IIS7 to display in the footer of each page (as long as you are an admin of course). I am going through the ServerObject and found Sites but am not finding anything obvious for "this site". What should I do to get at the information for the exact site in IIS7 that the page is running on? • telerik nested grid issue

  1.Here I am having a grid within a parent grid and there is a link button within the nested grid. 2.For the link button I need to use the item command event of the nested grid or I can use the item command of parent grid as well. 3.The issue is when I click on the link button within nested grid then item command event doesn’t get fired for the nestedgrid.But in case of parent grid its working fine. 4.I have tried handlers and item created event also to use handlers in code behind or in aspx.But nothing helped in getting me item command event hit for the nested grid. 5.Previously in case of repeaters there was one item command which was handling all the grids. I have tried different item command event for child and parent but it also didn’t work.

• Unable to sync custom authentication with RIA services in SL3 + RIA implementation

  I am developing SL3 + RIA services with custom authentication. I followed the example in http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/RiaServices/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=2661 to implement custom authentication. Based on the implementation, you first do login request from client to service. This request is async process. Noe the client GUI will start to bind data to SL controls using RIA services, which requires the authentication to be successful (by adding [RequireAuthentication] attribute). The trouble is, since you requested login from the main process, while it is doing authentication, the page control takes over and starts to bind data using RIA services. But the problem is authentication is not completed yet thus which ever the first service method data binding hits will fail with 'Access denied'. Bottom line is GUI is will not wait for authentication to be completed to start the data binding. My question is how do you handle this situation? Thanks,

• Set username credential for a new channel without creating a new factory

  I have a backend service and front-end services. They communicate via the trusted subsystem pattern. I want to transfer a username from the frontend to the backend and do this via username credentials as found here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms730288.aspx This does not work in our scenerio where the front-end builds a backend service channel factory via: channelFactory = new ChannelFactory<IBackEndService>(.....); Creating a new channel is done via die channel factory. I can only set the credentials one time after that I get an exception that the username object is read-only. channelFactory.Credentials.Username.Username = "myCoolFrontendUser"; var channel = channelFactory.CreateChannel(); Is there a way to create the channel factory only one time as this is expensive to create and then specify username credential when creating a channel?

Then Sys.Data is undefined So I added http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/act/40412/MicrosoftAjaxDataContext.debug.js. But then TypeError: Sys.Data.OpenDataContext is not a constructor What shall I do to be able to call the service the way they do it on the first link? What are the scripts and resources needed? • Response.TransmitFile() with UNC share (ASP.NET)

  In the comments of this page: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/12s31dhy.aspx ..it says that TransmitFile() cannot be used with UNC shares. As far as I can tell, this is the case; I get this error in Event Log when I attempt it: TransmitFile failed. File Name: \\myshare1\e$\file.zip, Impersonation Enabled: 0, Token Valid: 1, HRESULT: 0x8007052e The suggested alternative is to use WriteFile(), however, this is problematic because it loads the file into memory. In my application, the files are 200MB, so this is not going to scale. Is there a method in ASP.NET for streaming files to users that's: scalable (doesn't read entire file into RAM or occupy ASP.NET threads) works with UNC shares Mapping a network drive as a virtual directory is not an option for us. I would like to avoid copying the file to the local web server as well. Thanks

  I need some advice on NHibernate Session Management for a C# WinForms application. I am currently porting an application to use NHibernate. I am also employing a UnitOfWork pattern as described in the link below; http://nhforge.org/wikis/patternsandpractices/nhibernate-and-the-unit-of-work-pattern.aspx My question relates to Sessions. Can you only have one session running per thread at all times? I have a scenario in which a Session (UnitOfWork) may be open for a form shown by the application but the user opens another form (i.e. Tools - Options) which I would like to have its own UnitOfWork. Clearly in this instance it would make more sense to open another Session for the "Tools - Options" form and not use the currently open session for the underlying form. Can we have a Dictionary of Sessions on the one thread? Any advice on session management is appreciated.

• Getting DataBinder Item's max value

  I'm working at the aspx page, and the following code is inserted in a Repeater control: <%# ((System.Collections.Generic.List<double>)DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "BookPrices")).Max() %> Brings up the following error: 'System.Collections.Generic.List<double>' does not contain a definition for 'Max' List does have an method of Max(), so I'm possibly messing up my code somehow. What is my problem? BookPrices is a list<double> object, which I'd like to print it's maximum value. P.S. You guys are great! I didn't find answers for many of my questions on the web. • 404 Error Hosting WCF Service via IIS 7.5 Shared Content

  We're attempting to host a WCF Service (.NET 3.5 SP1) using Shared Content on IIS 7.5. At the moment it's returning a 404 error. My assumption at this point is that WCF can not be hosted via a UNC path (See workaroundHosting WCF service in IIS6 using UNC). Steps I've taken: - Established a FullTrust to/with the UNC path. - The service works hosting it on a local disk. - A basic HTML page renders without issue from the UNC path. - A ASPX page renders without issue from the UNC path. - Explicitly set "Full Control" permissions to the user running the service. The reason for using Shared Content in IIS 7.5 to host this WCF Service, and several other websites, in a web farm. Using Shared Content avoids the need for file replication between the nodes in the farm. (Note we are also using Shared Configuration to support this environment.)

• Silverlight standard loading animation does not get displayed.

  Can anybody enlighten me as to how the standard Silverlight loading animations (the swirling blue balls) are embedded in a Silverlight application and how they work? I currently don't see it although loading the xap takes long enough for the loading animation to be displayed. The problem is that I'm creating a xap dynamically and trying to write it to the Response Stream which might somehow interfere with the way most Silverlight applications work. So maybe there's something missing from the original aspx page or ClientBin that should be there that has been lost by accident. I haven't found any helpful information about how the loading animation is integrated into Silverlight that could help me debug the problem so far. Does anyone know what the animation needs to triggered as expected?

  Does anyone know if there is a way of specifying the Format of a calendar extender with a dynamic value from the aspx? I tried this but it doesnt seem to set the format at all. • Objectdatasource always passes 0 and startIndex and pageSize in asp.net 2.0

  I have a DevXpress ASPXGridview, and I am using ObjectDataSource for custom paging. This is my objectDataSource code on aspx page. <asp:ObjectDataSource ID="ObjectDataSource1" runat="server" SelectMethod="GetItems" EnablePaging="true" TypeName="BLL.Item" StartRowIndexParameterName="startIndex" MaximumRowsParameterName="pageSize" SelectCountMethod="GetTotalItems" > <SelectParameters> <asp:ControlParameter ControlID="hfNumber" Name="number" Type="string" /> <asp:ControlParameter ControlID="hfDesc" Name="description" Type="string" /> </SelectParameters> </asp:ObjectDataSource> When I put breakpoints in BLL code, I see that it always executes with startIndex and pageSize as 0. It does pass the other two selectparameters correctly. Also the SelectCountMethod (GetTotalItems) never gets executed.

Building content at run time is supported only when XNA Game Studio has been installed on the Windows-based development computer." Actually, before I know of that, I have already used a lot of content pipeline to help me read out my game's assets. And because of that, I am now very headache to confront the publish's problem "The application requires that the assemblies Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Content.Pipeline 3.1.0.0 be installed ....." So I would like to find some ways that can help me solve this without convertion of my pipelines. So that I don't need to rewrite it all in new classes that manually load assets for me. • ASP .NET: SQL Server Money Type and .NET Currency Type

  MS SQL Server's Money Data Type seems to accept a well formatted currency value with no problem (example: $52,334.50) From my research MS SQL Sever just ignores the "$" and "," characters. ASP .NET has a parameter object that has a Type/DbType property and Currency is an available option to set as a value. However, when I set the parameter Type or DbType to currency it will not accept a value like $52,334.50. I receive an error "Input string was not in a correct format." when I try to Update/Insert. If I don't include the "$" or "," characters it seems to work fine. Also, if I don't specify the Type or DbType for the parameter it seems to work fine also. Is this just standard behavior that the parameter object with its Type set to currency will still reject "$" and "," characters in ASP .NET? Here's an example of the parameter declaration (in the .aspx page): <asp:Parameter Name="ImplementCost" DbType="Currency" />

• .net 4.0 with Code Access Security NetFx40_LegacySecurityPolicy won't work

  Hi- I'm trying to use an external library DevExpress.XtraTreeList.v8.1.dll in my vsto office addin built using VS2010 beta 2. I am getting the following compile time error: DevExpress.Utils.AppareanceObject threw an exception -- System.NotSupportedException. The error message goes on to say that for compatibility reasons I can use the NetFx40_LegacySecurityPolicy switch. I've tried putting this config variable in all of the following locations: 1) my applications config file. 2) C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.21006\msbuild.exe.config 3) C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\dev.exe.config None of these have resolved the problem. Here were the references I've used. re-enable cas msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee191568(VS.100).aspx How do I get rid of this error so I can build the application in vs 2010?

• Using URL Routing for Web Forms with .ashx files

  I am developing a .NET 3.5 Web Forms based website that uses URL Routing. So far I have created a few routes and I have had no issue. I now have a .ashx file that is going to handle sending .pdf files from a table in SQL Server to the website when someone clicks on a link. Normally when I create a Handler it would look like this: return BuildManager.CreateInstanceFromVirtualPath("~/ViewItem.aspx", typeof(Page)) as Page; For my .ashx file I tried: return BuildManager.CreateInstanceFromVirtualPath("~/FileServer.ashx", typeof(Page)) as Page; This doesn't work though because fileserver.ashx is not a page so casting it as typeof(Page)) as Page is going to fail. What do I cast the VirtualPath as instead of Page or is there some other way I should be doing this.

• Custom message headers in WCF on Mono

  I'm making WCF calls from a Mono client running on Ubuntu (Mono 2.6). I can't seem to add a custom header to my messages. I have tried two different ways: Using a [MessageContract] and [MessageHeader] attributes on a custom class Adding the header to the outgoing messages programmatically, e.g. MessageHeader mhg = new MessageHeader("test"); MessageHeader untyped = mhg.GetUntypedHeader("token", "ns"); OperationContext.Current.OutgoingMessageHeaders.Add(untyped); The header is not there when the call reaches the server! It's always null. Note that both methods work fine running on .NET in Windows. Also note that the message body gets through just fine on Mono. I see some references online that suggest this should work: http://forums.monotouch.net/yaf_postsm1692.aspx https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=551745 Also - the Mono status page shows that all the MessageHeader stuff is fully implemented...   hi, I have an ASP.NET MVC application. In this after user get Sign in .We set the a cookie for the user who logged in using FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(userName, false). In other page we get the Cookies using the FormsAuthentication.GetAuthCookie(userName]) . This cookie values as string is then set in the Response.Cookies["username"].Value = cookiesvalue . We have .aspx page in the same application that downloads silverlight application .Silverlight reads the cookies using the code string[] cookies = HtmlPage.Document.Cookies.Split(';'); The problem is that once session expires in the application,silverlight cannot read the cookie value. After the session expires we again set the cookies in headers using the Response.Cookies["username"].Value = cookiesvalue . But still silverlight application cannot read this cookie .   I was reading this article - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/dd419663.aspx And I came across this piece of code in the WPF Demo application that came with the article. This template applies a CustomerView to an instance of the CustomerViewModel class shown in the main window. <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type vm:CustomerViewModel}"> <vw:CustomerView /> </DataTemplate> I substituted the angle brackets for square brackets - not sure how to post them. The code is in the MainWindowResourses.xaml and the code starts on line 19. Anyone know how I can do this in Silverlight ?? We don't have the DataType and I need to be able to tell the app that this View is associated with this ViewModel - so I can create a tab control with different view like the demo app. Cheers, EC
