  • nginx support for .htaccess / rewrite rules? Differences from Apache?

    I've been working with Apache http servers for quite some time, and finally making the move to static-content servers alongside the others dynamic-content machines. I was wondering, does nginx support ".htaccess" files, and things like mod_rewrite? As I'm very used to the syntax, I was wondering what the (syntax) differences were, and what the learning curve is like moving from Apache configs to nginx.

    My network engineer states I am part of a cluster where two apache application servers(512G RAM each) have 142 instances each of Tomcat (of which my company represents 6 each with 2G RAM). This seems like a lot and my latency issues move with the hour of the day - 7AM CST software functions fine, 10AM CST - system slows significantly this slowness continues until 6PM CST. My question is how many Tomcat instances can one application server handle?

  • Fail to set a new location of _viminfo on Windows

    I am trying to move _viminfo out of my home folder to make it simpler. So I added this to my _vimrc: set viminfo+=n~\\AppBackup\\Vim\\_viminfo However it's useless, Vim still create _viminfo in my home folder. Then I manually input the command above. This time it works fine, so I am sure the command itself is valid. How should I solve this problem for now? To be more specific, I am using GVim 7.4 on Windows 8.1.

  • Find out how many DNS Queries/month via WHM or SSH?

    Is it possible? We have complete control over our DNS server and the server actually being pointed to. We are interested in how many DNS Queries we are currently getting, as we want to move to Ultra DNS, but we need to know how many queries we're likely to get in a month. Is this possible to figure out? Do I need to start a service before tracking begins? Or use shell to access the data?

  • Moving a game in windowed mode that can't be dragged by the title bar.

    I have Fallout Collection and I am trying to run it windowed because of the low resolution. When I change the mode to windowed via the .ini file, however, it boots the game window shoved into the upper left corner of my screen. I can't click the title bar of the window because it just clicks back into the game program. So how can I move it to the center of my screen? I am using Windows 7 professional 64-bit.

    In sublime text if I perform a find for an occurrence of a particular word not only is this occurrence found but it also selected and has the cursor at the end of each occurrence so that pushing the right arrow key the cursor will move the cursor to the beginning of each occurrence simultaneously so that I can perform whatever operation I wish on all the selections. Does notepad++ have something similar to this feature? I know that I can multi-line select by Ctrl+ mouse click, but I just wanting to know of an automated so to speak way of doing this in notepad++

  • how can I change the domain and name server of a image?

    I wonder if someone did the same, I create an image of a server, then I move it to another , and that other one will have a different domain, so, now I want to create and send mail with the new domain, still the other domain is the one who signs... I already changed the dovecot.cnf , postfix, apache and hosts file, but I cant find where is that domain comming from, any idea of where to look for? Thanks!

  • Partitioning Windows 8.1 in order to have data partition first and system partitions at HDD end

    How can I have recovery partition at the HDD end? My aim is to have data partition installed on fastest sectors of my hard drive, as I don't really care if restoring operations are slow... During Windows installation, when I create a partition, I get immediately created EFI and recovery ones just before the actual data partition. EFI position is good, I want my PC boot fast, but I want to move partitions I don't care about speed. I've also considered GParted, but I think I'm not able to use it :P

    XP SP3 I have my system set up so that I do not need to double click on an item to open it. However, I find that items are selected when I move over them swiftly. This is a problem when I want to save a file and inadvertently pass over another file name. It immediately gets selected.   • How do I group Quick Launch icons in Windows Vista?

    My quick launch task bar has about 30 icons and is pretty unmanegable. What I would like is to create Quick Launch groups, so I can move my mouse over the "Design Group" icon and a pop-up/menu will appear that shows my icons for Illustrator, Photoshop, etc... I can almost get there by linking to a folder and having my Design icons in there, but I have to click on the icon. Can anyone recommend anything here?

My code, for example, wants to append some characters to a string that I am using within my xtemplate.   • Linq where clause with multiple conditions and null check

    I'm trying to check if a date is not null in linq and if it isn't check its a past date. QuestionnaireRepo.FindAll(q => !q.ExpiredDate.HasValue || q.ExpiredDate >DateTime.Now).OrderByDescending(order => order.CreatedDate); I need the second check to only apply if the first is true. I am using a single repository pattern and FindAll accepted a where clause ANy ideas? There are lots of similar questions on here but not that give the answer, I'm very new to Linq as you may of guessed :) Edit: I get the results I require now but it will be checking the conditional on null values in some cases. Is this not a bad thing?

In IB in the nib file, I've added a view ahead of the table view and hooked it up to headerView - a UIView declared in the .h file.   • Determine UIInterfaceOrientation on iPad

    I don't need to specify the orientation in this case, I just need to detect it, but I'm having trouble. I have conditional code that should only work in portrait, and if the device is in landscape I need to do something else. Since the deviceOrientation is not necessarily the same as the interfaceOrientation, I can't come up with a way to test for portrait mode. Most tutorials I find on Google are ways to force landscape or do some sort of rotation. The only thing I want to do is just determine what the orientation is.     Since IE is getting rid of conditional comments in version 10, I'm in dire need to find a "CSS hack" targeting IE10 specifically. NB! It has to be the selector that's getting "hacked" and not the CSS-properties. In Mozilla, you can use: @-moz-document url-prefix() { h1 { color: red; } } While in Webkit, you usually do: @media screen and (-webkit-min-device-pixel-ratio:0) { h1 { color: blue; } } How would I do something similar in IE10?
