  • Introducing SSIS Reporting Pack for SQL Server code-named Denali

    - by jamiet
In recent blog posts I have introduced the new SSIS Catalog that is forthcoming in SQL Server Code-named Denali: What's new in SSIS in Denali Introduction to SSIS Projects in Denali Parameters in SSIS In Denali SSIS Server, Catalogs, Environments and Environment Variables in SSIS in Denali The SSIS Catalog is responsible for executing SSIS packages and also for capturing the metadata from those executions. However, at the time of writing there is no mechanism provided to view analyse and drill into that metadata and that is the reason that I am, in this blog post, introducing a suite of SSIS Catalog reports called the SSIS Reporting Pack which you can download from my SkyDrive at http://cid-550f681dad532637.office.live.com/self.aspx/Public/SSIS%20Reporting%20Pack/SSISReportingPack%20v0.1.zip. In this first release the SSIS Reporting Pack includes five reports: Catalog – A high-level summary of all activity in the Catalog Folders – A summary of activity in each Catalog Folder Folder – Project-level activity per single Folder Executions – A visualisation of all executions per Folder/Project/Package/Environment or subset thereof Execution – Information about an individual execution Here is a screenshot of the Executions report: Notice that the SSIS Reporting Pack provides a visual overview of all executions in the Catalog. Each execution is represented as a bar on the bar chart, the success or otherwise of each execution is indicated by the colour of the bar and the execution time is indicated by the bar height. I have recorded a video that gives an overview of the SSIS Reporting which I have embedded below. If you are having any trouble viewing the video go see it at http://vimeo.com/17617974 I must stress that this is a very early version of the SSIS Reporting Pack and I am expecting it to change a lot over the coming year. I am very keen to get some feedback about this, specifically: let me know if anything does not work as you expect give me your feature requests The easiest way to get hold of of me for now is within the comments section of this blog post. That’s all for now. I hope the SSIS Reporting Pack proves useful and I look forward to hearing your feedback. Lastly, that download link again: http://cid-550f681dad532637.office.live.com/self.aspx/Public/SSIS%20Reporting%20Pack/SSISReportingPack%20v0.1.zip. @jamiet

  • CS0016: Could not write to output file 'c:\..\..\App_Web_XXXX.aspx..dll' -- 'The directory name is invalid. '

    - by Christian M
This problem is driving me nuts. CS0016: Could not write to output file 'c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework<64\vX.X.XXXX\Temporary ASP.NET Files\root\XXXXXX\XXXXXX\App_Web_XXXX.aspx.XXXXXXXX.XXXXXXXX.dll' -- 'The directory name is invalid. ' Tried to give full access to network service on C:\windows\temp and the temp folder in v4.0.xxx folder. Been searching hi and low online but no one has the right answer for this. Server is Windows Server 2008r2, SQL Server 2008r2 is installed on the same server. I believe that it could have something to do with SQL Server being installed after the .NET Framework 4.0 was installed, but I did a aspnet_regiis.exe -u and then -i to reinstall. Tried from both Framework folder and Framework64 folder, still no luck Anybody outthere with the same problem? Thanks in advance, Christian

  • Apache2 on Raspbian: Multiviews is enabled but not working

    - by Christian L
I recently moved webserver, from a ubuntuserver set up by my brother (I have sudo) to a rasbianserver set up by my self. On the other server multiviews worked out of the box, but on the raspbian it does not seem to work althoug it seems to be enabled out of the box there as well. What I am trying to do is to get it to find my.doma.in/mobile.php when I enter my.doma.in/mobile in the adress field. I am using the same available-site-file as I did before, the file looks as this: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName my.doma.in ServerAdmin [email protected] DocumentRoot /home/christian/www/do <Directory /> Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride All </Directory> <Directory /home/christian/www/do> Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews AllowOverride All Order allow, deny allow from all </Directory> ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /usr/lib/cgi-bin/ <Directory "/usr/lib/cgi-bin"> AllowOverride None Options +ExecCGI -MultiViews +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> ErrorLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/error.log # Possible values include: debug, info, notice, warn, error, crit, # alert, emerg. LogLevel warn CustomLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/access.log combined Alias /doc/ "/usr/share/doc/" <Directory "/usr/share/doc/"> Options Indexes MultiViews FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None Order deny, allow Deny from all Allow from 127.0.0.0/255.0.0.0 ::1/128 </Directory> From what I have read various places while googling this issue I found that the negotiation module had to be enabled so I tried to enable it. sudo a2enmod negotiation Giving me this result Module negotiation already enabled I have read through the /etc/apache2/apache2.conf and I did not find anything in particular that seemed to be helping me there, but please do ask if you think I should post it. Any ideas on how to solve this through getting Multiviews to work?

  • htaccess rewriterule works in one virtualhost, but not a second virtualhost

    - by Casey Flynn
I have two virtualhosts configured with xampp on mac os x snow lion. Both use the following .htaccess file. <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / # Protect hidden files from being viewed <Files .*> Order Deny,Allow Deny From All </Files> #Removes access to the system folder by users. #Additionally this will allow you to create a System.php controller, #previously this would not have been possible. #'system' can be replaced if you have renamed your system folder. RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^system.* RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?/$1 [L] #When your application folder isn't in the system folder #This snippet prevents user access to the application folder #Submitted by: Fabdrol #Rename 'application' to your applications folder name. RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^application.* RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?/$1 [L] #Checks to see if the user is attempting to access a valid file, #such as an image or css document, if this isn't true it sends the #request to index.php RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$01 [L] # If we don't have mod_rewrite installed, all 404's # can be sent to index.php, and everything works as normal. # Submitted by: ElliotHaughin ErrorDocument 404 /index.php My goal is to eliminate /index.php/ from my url strings. This htaccess works perfectly for one project, but not for the other (project/vhost) This is my vhosts.conf # # This is the main Apache HTTP server configuration file. It contains the # configuration directives that give the server its instructions. # See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2> for detailed information. # In particular, see # <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/directives.html> # for a discussion of each configuration directive. # # Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding # what they do. They're here only as hints or reminders. If you are unsure # consult the online docs. You have been warned. # # Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many # of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the # server will use that explicit path. If the filenames do *not* begin # with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/foo.log" # with ServerRoot set to "/Applications/xampp/xamppfiles" will be interpreted by the # server as "/Applications/xampp/xamppfiles/logs/foo.log". # # ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's # configuration, error, and log files are kept. # # Do not add a slash at the end of the directory path. If you point # ServerRoot at a non-local disk, be sure to point the LockFile directive # at a local disk. If you wish to share the same ServerRoot for multiple # httpd daemons, you will need to change at least LockFile and PidFile. # ServerRoot "/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles" # # Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or # ports, instead of the default. See also the <VirtualHost> # directive. # # Change this to Listen on specific IP addresses as shown below to # prevent Apache from glomming onto all bound IP addresses. # #Listen 12.34.56.78:80 Listen 80 # # Dynamic Shared Object (DSO) Support # # To be able to use the functionality of a module which was built as a DSO you # have to place corresponding `LoadModule' lines at this location so the # directives contained in it are actually available _before_ they are used. # Statically compiled modules (those listed by `httpd -l') do not need # to be loaded here. # # Example: # LoadModule foo_module modules/mod_foo.so # LoadModule authn_file_module modules/mod_authn_file.so LoadModule authn_dbm_module modules/mod_authn_dbm.so LoadModule authn_anon_module modules/mod_authn_anon.so LoadModule authn_dbd_module modules/mod_authn_dbd.so LoadModule authn_default_module modules/mod_authn_default.so LoadModule authz_host_module modules/mod_authz_host.so LoadModule authz_groupfile_module modules/mod_authz_groupfile.so LoadModule authz_user_module modules/mod_authz_user.so LoadModule authz_dbm_module modules/mod_authz_dbm.so LoadModule authz_owner_module modules/mod_authz_owner.so LoadModule authnz_ldap_module modules/mod_authnz_ldap.so LoadModule authz_default_module modules/mod_authz_default.so LoadModule auth_basic_module modules/mod_auth_basic.so LoadModule auth_digest_module modules/mod_auth_digest.so LoadModule file_cache_module modules/mod_file_cache.so LoadModule cache_module modules/mod_cache.so LoadModule disk_cache_module modules/mod_disk_cache.so LoadModule mem_cache_module modules/mod_mem_cache.so LoadModule dbd_module modules/mod_dbd.so LoadModule bucketeer_module modules/mod_bucketeer.so LoadModule dumpio_module modules/mod_dumpio.so LoadModule echo_module modules/mod_echo.so LoadModule case_filter_module modules/mod_case_filter.so LoadModule case_filter_in_module modules/mod_case_filter_in.so LoadModule ext_filter_module modules/mod_ext_filter.so LoadModule include_module modules/mod_include.so LoadModule filter_module modules/mod_filter.so LoadModule charset_lite_module modules/mod_charset_lite.so LoadModule deflate_module modules/mod_deflate.so LoadModule ldap_module modules/mod_ldap.so LoadModule log_config_module modules/mod_log_config.so LoadModule logio_module modules/mod_logio.so LoadModule env_module modules/mod_env.so LoadModule mime_magic_module modules/mod_mime_magic.so LoadModule cern_meta_module modules/mod_cern_meta.so LoadModule expires_module modules/mod_expires.so LoadModule headers_module modules/mod_headers.so LoadModule ident_module modules/mod_ident.so LoadModule usertrack_module modules/mod_usertrack.so LoadModule unique_id_module modules/mod_unique_id.so LoadModule setenvif_module modules/mod_setenvif.so LoadModule proxy_module modules/mod_proxy.so LoadModule proxy_connect_module modules/mod_proxy_connect.so LoadModule proxy_ftp_module modules/mod_proxy_ftp.so LoadModule proxy_http_module modules/mod_proxy_http.so LoadModule proxy_ajp_module modules/mod_proxy_ajp.so LoadModule proxy_balancer_module modules/mod_proxy_balancer.so LoadModule mime_module modules/mod_mime.so LoadModule dav_module modules/mod_dav.so LoadModule status_module modules/mod_status.so LoadModule autoindex_module modules/mod_autoindex.so LoadModule asis_module modules/mod_asis.so LoadModule info_module modules/mod_info.so LoadModule suexec_module modules/mod_suexec.so LoadModule cgi_module modules/mod_cgi.so LoadModule cgid_module modules/mod_cgid.so LoadModule dav_fs_module modules/mod_dav_fs.so LoadModule vhost_alias_module modules/mod_vhost_alias.so LoadModule negotiation_module modules/mod_negotiation.so LoadModule dir_module modules/mod_dir.so LoadModule imagemap_module modules/mod_imagemap.so LoadModule actions_module modules/mod_actions.so LoadModule speling_module modules/mod_speling.so LoadModule userdir_module modules/mod_userdir.so LoadModule alias_module modules/mod_alias.so LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so #LoadModule apreq_module modules/mod_apreq2.so LoadModule ssl_module modules/mod_ssl.so <IfDefine JUSTTOMAKEAPXSHAPPY> LoadModule php4_module modules/libphp4.so LoadModule php5_module modules/libphp5.so </IfDefine> <IfModule !mpm_winnt_module> <IfModule !mpm_netware_module> # # If you wish httpd to run as a different user or group, you must run # httpd as root initially and it will switch. # # User/Group: The name (or #number) of the user/group to run httpd as. # It is usually good practice to create a dedicated user and group for # running httpd, as with most system services. # User nobody Group nogroup </IfModule> </IfModule> # 'Main' server configuration # # The directives in this section set up the values used by the 'main' # server, which responds to any requests that aren't handled by a # <VirtualHost> definition. • Prevent Explorer From Expanding Network Folders when in Folders View

    - by Chris
When you are browsing a network share and there are over 1000 folders in the root (like at work), is there a way to prevent Explorer from expanding all the Folders when you have the "Folders" view enabled? Explorer will open the folder your double clicked on, and show that in the right navigation pane, and it's great, but wait about five seconds and the rest of the folder list pops into view, I'd rather that not happen. There is only one folder I'm interested in (or have access to), and it's annoying waiting for Explorer to load the rest of the files.

  • csync2 ERROR: Connection to remote host failed

    - by Emil Salama
I was unable to find any articles to answer this question, so my best bet was to post this here: Scenario We have 2x application servers in production hosting a PHP website and I would like some folders to be syncronized between the 2, the same was setup for the development environment with no issues, I've followed all instructions from the URL "http://www.cloudedify.com/synchronising-files-in-cloud-with-csync2/", I still seem to have the same result, firewall has been disabled on both boxes for troubeshooting purposes: Config Files: cysnc2.cfg nossl * *; group production { host server1; host server2; key /etc/csync-production-group.key; include /etc/httpd/sites-available; include /xxxxxx/public_html/files include /xxxxxxx/magento/media/catalog/product include /xxxxxxx/magento/media/brands exclude *.log; exclude /xxxx/public_html/file/cache; exclude /xxxxx/public_html/magento/var/cache; exclude /xxxx/public_html/logs; exclude /xxxxx/public_html/magento/var/log; backup-directory /data/sync-conflicts/; backup-generations 2; auto younger; } /etc/xinetd.d/csync2 csync2.cfg service csync2 { disable = no flags = REUSE socket_type = stream wait = no user = root group = root server = /usr/sbin/csync2 server_args = -i -D /data/sync-db/ port = 30865 type = UNLISTED log_type = FILE /data/logs/csync2/csync2-xinetd.log log_on_failure += USERID } I've made sure that the daemon is listening on both server on port 30865 and the keys matched on both servers I've run a tcpdump on each server, output as follows: 12:20:31.366771 IP server1.49919 server2.csync2: Flags [S], seq 445156159, win 14600, options [mss 1460,sackOK,TS val 794864936 ecr 0,nop,wscale 7], length 0 12:20:31.366810 IP server2.csync2 server1.49919: Flags [S.], seq 450593575, ack 445156160, win 14480, options [mss 1460,sackOK,TS val 794798911 ecr 794864936,nop,wscale 7], length 0 12:20:31.367101 IP server1.49919 server2.csync2: Flags [.], ack 1, win 115, options [nop, nop,TS val 794864937 ecr 794798911], length 0 12:20:31.367138 IP server1.49919 server2.csync2: Flags [P.], seq 1:9, ack 1, win 115, options [nop, nop,TS val 794864937 ecr 794798911], length 8 12:20:31.367147 IP server2.csync2 server1.49919: Flags [.], ack 9, win 114, options [nop, nop,TS val 794798912 ecr 794864937], length 0 12:20:31.368625 IP server2.csync2 server1.49919: Flags [R.], seq 1, ack 9, win 114, options [nop, nop,TS val 794798913 ecr 794864937], length 0 Is there anything else i'm missing or should be doing?

  • reset file permissions?

    - by acidzombie24
In my /var/www folder i have permission 2750 with the owner being root (unless i change it by hand) and the group being www-data. I mv a folder into /var/www and i'd like to reset the permissions so everything is 2750 and for the group to be www-data, is it possible to do it in one command? or do i need to do multiple cmds? (its two commands, 3 if i want the same owner but it be nice to do it with one for this folder)

  • Security permissions for remote shared folders

    - by Tomas Lycken
I have two servers running Windows Server 2003, and I want copy files from one server (A), programmatically with a windows service running under the Local System account, to a shared folder on the other (B). I keep getting "access denied" errors, and I can't figure out what security settings I need to set to open the shared folder for writing. This is what I've done on the recieving end: On A, right-click on the folder to share, choose the tab "Sharing" and select "Share this folder". Set a share name. Click "Permissions", add the group "Everyone" and give it full control. I tried choosing the "Security" tab to give some permissions there as well, but the "Add" dialog only finds local users, despite the fact that B shows up in the "Workgroup computers" dialog. After further inspection, this is the case also for the "Permissions" dialog under the "Sharing" tab (are they the same?).

  • Windows Explorer is blank

    - by Scott Mitchell
I am using Windows 7 Utlimate x64. Once a week, or so, when I boot up n the morning and launch Windows Explorer it shows up blank, as the following screen shot show. Clicking on my Computer doesn't load anything. Interestingly, I can go the the Address bar at the top and type in a folder name. This brings up that folder's files and subfolders, but as I drill around the tree of folders on the left only shows the immediate folder and not its siblings. There's no plus icon to expand the folder, etc. My usual "solution" is to reboot, which typically brings everything back to normal, but this is a frustrating remedy. Any idea what's going on and how to fix it? Some Googling turned up this discussion, but the remedy was to uninstall a particular piece of software that I don't have installed (Virtual Clone Drive). Thanks

  • How to use bzdiff to find difference between 2 bzipped files with diff -I option?

    - by englebip
I'm trying to do a diff on MySQL dumps (created with mysqldump and piped to bzip2), to see if there are changes between consecutive dumps. The followings are the tails of 2 dumps: tmp1: /*!40101 SET SQL_MODE=@OLD_SQL_MODE */; /*!40014 SET FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS=@OLD_FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS */; /*!40014 SET UNIQUE_CHECKS=@OLD_UNIQUE_CHECKS */; /*!40101 SET CHARACTER_SET_CLIENT=@OLD_CHARACTER_SET_CLIENT */; /*!40101 SET CHARACTER_SET_RESULTS=@OLD_CHARACTER_SET_RESULTS */; /*!40101 SET COLLATION_CONNECTION=@OLD_COLLATION_CONNECTION */; /*!40111 SET SQL_NOTES=@OLD_SQL_NOTES */; -- Dump completed on 2011-03-11 1:06:50 tmp2: /*!40101 SET SQL_MODE=@OLD_SQL_MODE */; /*!40014 SET FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS=@OLD_FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS */; /*!40014 SET UNIQUE_CHECKS=@OLD_UNIQUE_CHECKS */; /*!40101 SET CHARACTER_SET_CLIENT=@OLD_CHARACTER_SET_CLIENT */; /*!40101 SET CHARACTER_SET_RESULTS=@OLD_CHARACTER_SET_RESULTS */; /*!40101 SET COLLATION_CONNECTION=@OLD_COLLATION_CONNECTION */; /*!40111 SET SQL_NOTES=@OLD_SQL_NOTES */; -- Dump completed on 2011-03-11 0:40:11 When I bzdiff their bzipped version: $ bzdiff tmp?.bz2 10c10 < -- Dump completed on 2011-03-11 1:06:50 --- > -- Dump completed on 2011-03-11 0:40:11 According to the manual of bzdiff, any option passed on to bzdiff is passed on to diff. I therefore looked at the -I option that allows to define a regexp; lines matching it are ignored in the diff. When I then try: $ bzdiff -I'Dump' tmp1.bz2 tmp2.bz2 I get an empty diff. I would like to match as much as possible of the "Dump completed" line, though, but when I then try: $ bzdiff -I'Dump completed' tmp1.bz2 tmp2.bz2 diff: extra operand `/tmp/bzdiff.miCJEvX9E8' diff: Try `diff --help' for more information. Same thing happens for some variations: $ bzdiff '-IDump completed' tmp1.bz2 tmp2.bz2 $ bzdiff '-I"Dump completed"' tmp1.bz2 tmp2.bz2 $ bzdiff -'"IDump completed"' tmp1.bz2 tmp2.bz2 If I diff the un-bzipped files there is no problem: $diff -I'^[-][-] Dump completed on' tmp1 tmp2 gives also an empty diff. bzdiff is a shell script usually placed in /bin/bzdiff. Essentially, it parses the command options and passes them on to diff as follows: OPTIONS= FILES= for ARG do case "$ARG" in -*) OPTIONS="$OPTIONS $ARG";; *) if test -f "$ARG"; then FILES="$FILES $ARG" else echo "${prog}: $ARG not found or not a regular file" exit 1 fi ;; esac done [...] bzip2 -cdfq "$1" | $comp $OPTIONS - "$tmp" I think the problem stems from escaping the spaces in the passing of $OPTIONS to diff, but I couldn't figure out how to get it interpreted correctly. Any ideas? EDIT @DerfK: Good point with the ., I had forgotten about them... I tried the suggestion with the multiple level of quotes, but that is still not recognized: $ bzdiff "-I'\"Dump.completed.on\"'" tmp1.bz2 tmp2.bz2 diff: extra operand `/tmp/bzdiff.Di7RtihGGL'

  • Getting AWStats to work in Ubuntu 12.04

    - by koogee
I'm new to apache and i'm trying to set up AWStats on my ubuntu 12.04 server. I've followed the guide at Ubuntu docs https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AWStats I set it up according to the instructions and awstats is able to generate initial stats from apache log successfully. I placed the links to awstats in the default virtual host file. However when I try to run http://server-ip-address:8080/awstats/awstats.pl, I get: Error: SiteDomain parameter not defined in your config/domain file. You must edit it for using this version of AWStats. Setup ('/etc/awstats/awstats.conf' file, web server or permissions) may be wrong. Check config file, permissions and AWStats documentation (in 'docs' directory). Here is my /etc/apache2/sites-available/default file: <VirtualHost *:8080> ServerAdmin webmaster@localhost DocumentRoot /home/saad/www <Directory /> Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None </Directory> <Directory /home/saad/www/> Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews AllowOverride AuthConfig Order allow, deny allow from all </Directory> ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /usr/lib/cgi-bin/ <Directory "/usr/lib/cgi-bin"> AllowOverride None Options +ExecCGI -MultiViews +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> Alias /awstatsclasses "/usr/share/awstats/lib/" Alias /awstats-icon "/usr/share/awstats/icon/" Alias /awstatscss "/usr/share/doc/awstats/examples/css" ScriptAlias /awstats/ /usr/lib/cgi-bin/ Options ExecCGI -MultiViews +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch ErrorLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/error.log # Possible values include: debug, info, notice, warn, error, crit, # alert, emerg. Any guidance would be welcome.

  • Linked vSphere servers preventing cloning?

    - by brian
I've currently got a pair of vSphere5 standard servers (physical, not VAs) managing about a hundred ESX 4.1 and 5 hosts in two different physical and logical datacenters. With our last purchase, we bought another vSphere license for the new vS server. I unmanaged all the ESX servers in one datacenter and added them to new vSphere server. Our previous single-vS-server layout used to be: -vSphere1 --Datacenter1 (where the physical ESX host was located) ---Folder ----ESX server1 --Datacenter2 ---Folder ----ESX server2 Now it looks like -vSphere1 --Datacenter1 ---Folder ----ESX server1 -vSphere2 (new vSphere server) --Datacenter2 ---Folder ----ESX server2 ESX server2 was removed from vSphere1's inventory and added to vSphere2's, so it is now managed by vSphere2. This is nice and all, as no vSphere <-- ESX management traffic leaves the physical datacenter, except for one huge oversight: when I go to clone a VM, the opposite vSphere server (and thus other datacenter) does not show up in the list on the first page of the wizard. Is this a bug, a license limitation, or is it just simply not possible to clone a VM from an ESX box managed by one vS server to another ESX box managed by a /different/ vS server?

  • Data loss through permissions change?

    - by charliehorse55
I seem to have deleted some files on my media drive, simply by changing the permissions. The Story I have many operating systems installed on my computer, and constantly switch between them. I bought a 1TB HD and formatted it as HFS+ (not journaled). It worked well between OSX and all of my linux installations while having much better metadata support than NTFS. I never synced the UIDs for my operating systems so the permissions were always doing funny things. Yesterday I tried to fix the permissions by first changing the UIDs of the other operating systems to match OSX, and then changing the file ownership of all files on the drive to match OSX. About 50% of the files on the drive were originally owned by OSX, the other half were owned by the various linux installations. I started to try and change the file permissions for the folders, and that's when it went south. The Commands These commands were run recursively on the one section of the drive. sudo chflags nouchg sudo chflags -N sudo chown myusername sudo chmod 666 sudo chgrp staff The Bad Sometime during the execution of these commands, all of the files belonging to OSX were deleted. If a folder had linux based files it would remain intact but any folder containing exclusively OSX files was erased. If a folder containing linux files also contained a subfolder with only OSX files, the sub folder would remain but is inaccesible and displays a file size of 0 bytes. Luckily these commands were only run on the videos folder, I also have a music folder with the same issue but I did not execute any of these commands on it. Effectively I have examples of the file permissions for all 3 states - the linux files before and after, and the OSX files before. OSX File Before -rw-r--r--@ 1 charliehorse 1000 3634241 15 Nov 2008 /path/to/file com.apple.FinderInfo 32 Linux File before: -rw-r--r--@ 1 charliehorse 1000 5321776 20 Sep 2002 /path/to/file/ com.apple.FinderInfo 32 Linux File After (Read only): (Different file, but I believe the same permissions originally) -rw-rw-rw-@ 1 charliehorse staff 366982610 17 Jun 2008 /path/to/file com.apple.FinderInfo 32 These files still exist so if there are any other commands to run on them to determine what has happened here, I can do that. EDIT Running ls on one of the "empty" deleted OSX folders yields this: ls: .: Permission denied ls: ..: Permission denied ls: subdirA: Permission denied ls: subdirB: Permission denied ls: subdirC: Permission denied ls: subdirD: Permission denied I believe my files might still be there, but the permissions are screwed.

  • How to make sure my GPO are applied in the correct order

    - by Florent
I'm deploying VMware player through a GPO, and I'd like to apply specific ACLs to the install folder, and to the D:\VMWARE folder I'm creating during the player install. I also have to add the vmware user account the "can log on locally" right. To do so, I've created a GPO whose scope is the same as my Vmware player install GPO. This GPO works well, BUT when applied at the same time as my deployment GPO, it seems to be applied before the deploy GPO, and then : - Cannot find the vmware user account - Cannot find the c:\program files\vmware folder - Cannot find the D:\vmware folder because none of them have already been created by the vmware player install. And the only way for me to apply my security GPO is to execute gpudate /force command manually, which i don't want to use (it's supposed to be an automatic install) I've checked the gpo processing order, my security GPO should be applied AFTER my install GPO (security GPO is number 1, deploy GPO is number to), but it don't seem to be the case. Does anyone got an idea to solve this ?

  • TFS 2010 Build: Dealing with the API restriction error

    - by Jakob Ehn
Recently I’ve come across this error a couple of times when running builds that exeucte unit tests using Test containers: API restriction: The assembly 'file:///C:\Builds\<path>\myassembly.dll' has already loaded from a different location. It cannot be loaded from a new location within the same appdomain. Every time I’ve got this error, the project has been a web application, and the path to the assembly points down to the _PublishedWebsites directory that is created beneath the Binaries folder during a team build. The error description really says it all (although slightly cryptic), when using test containers, MSTest needs to load all assemblies and see if they contain any unit tests. During this serach, it finds the ‘myassembly.dll’ in two different locations. First it is found directly beneth the Binaries folder, and then it is alos found beneath the _PublishedWebsites\Project\bin folder. The reason is that the default setting for test containers in a TFS 2010 build definition is **\*test*.dll:   This pattern means that MSTest will search recursively for all assemblies beneath the Binaries folder, and during the search it will find the MyAssembly.dll twice. The solution is simple, set the Test assembly file specification property to *test*.dll instead, this will disable the recursive search:

  • Outlook 2010, 2007 Sync problems after migration from SMTP to Exchange

    - by kirgy
Our organization recently switched from an SMTP server to an Exchange server, since then several user's Outlook's are not synchronizing their emails as expected with the Exchange server. Our move over from an SMTP server to an Exchange server consisted of adding the new Exchange account alongside the existing SMTP account, drag-dropping/copy-pasting folders client-side from the SMTP account in the folder pane in outlook, to the newly created Exchange account. The problem happens when a user moves an email to a folder from their inbox or another folder. At this point the email disappears from Outlook client side. Re-syncing the folder, send/receive, closing/opening outlook and even system reboots do not make this email reappear. The Outlook web interface (OWA) reports the email is in fact in the folder they placed it in, and is not deleted. Doing a "search all mail items" for the emails shows that the email is still there; not deleted nor removed. To add to the confusion, when new folders are created and the email is placed in these folders, the synchronization happens without any issue both client side and server side. As the emails are appearing server side, we are confident to presume this is a client side issue. We have tried adding/removing accounts on one system which resulted in the same issue. This was a very long and slow process due to the sheer volume of emails (20gig+ from most users). We have tried reinstalling outlook restoring accounts from back-ups which has not resolved the issue. We also tried upgrading one system from outlook 2007 to outlook 2010 which, again, did not resolve the issue. We have experienced issues with a lot of emails disappearing during the copy-over process in which I'm not convinced it was the best route of migration, but nonetheless we are where we are. Can anyone suggest potential avenues of solutions to resolve this issue? Thank you. Systems: Windows 7 (10 systems) Windows XP (2 systems) Outlook 2007 (2 systems) Outlook 2010 (7 systems) Problem Outlook systems: Windows XP, Outlook 2007 x 1 Windows 7, Outlook 2007 x1 Windows 7, Outlook 2010 x 2

  • How to publish an ASP.NET MVC application to a free host

    - by Lirik
Hi, I'm using a free web host (0000free) which supports ASP.NET MVC, but it uses Mono. This is the first time I deploy an MVC application, so I'm a little confused as to where I need to deploy it. I have Visual Studio 2010 and I used its Publish Feature (i.e. right click on the project name and click publish) and I tried several things: Publish method: FTP to the root folder. Publish method: FTP to the publich_html folder. Publish method: File System to the root folder. Publish method: File System to the publich_html folder. Publish method: File System to a local directory on my computer and then FTP to root and also tried the public_html folder. I went into the cPanel (control panel) to try and see if ASP.NET has to be added/enabled for my web site, but I didn't see anything there. I can't browse to Index.aspx nor can I redirect to it from index.html (as suggested from other posts on the host forum), right now I have a link from index.html to Index.aspx but it's not working either (see http://www.mydevarmy.com) I've also tried renaming Index.aspx to Default.aspx, but that doesn't work either. The search utility of the forum of the host is somewhat weak, so I use google to search their forum: http://www.google.com/search?q=publish+asp.net+site%3A0000free.com%2Fforum%2F&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a I've been reading Pro ASP.NET MVC Framework and they have a chapter about publishing, but it doesn't provide any specific information with respect to the location of publishing, this is all they say (and it's not very helpful in my case): Where Should I Put My Application? You can deploy your application to any folder on the server. When IIS first installs, it automatically creates a folder for a web site called Default Web Site at c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\, but you shouldn’t feel any obligation to put your application files there. It’s very common to host applications on a different physical drive from the operating system (e.g., in e:\websites\ example.com). It’s entirely up to you, and may be influenced by concerns such as how you plan to back up the server. Here is the exception I get when I try to view my Index.aspx page: Unrecognized attribute 'targetFramework'. (/home/devarmy/public_html/Web.config line 1) Description: HTTP 500. Error processing request. Stack Trace: System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException: Unrecognized attribute 'targetFramework'. For each Folder I have th following files : -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1263 Mar 17 01:51 vm1-2010-03-16--2.gz -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1263 Mar 17 00:41 vm1-2010-03-16--3.gz -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1261 Mar 18 01:22 vm1-2010-03-17--1.gz drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 980 Mar 19 23:39 vm1-2010-03-19 The problem is the last folder. It seems that a backup didn't finished the process. When I read the logs concerned by this folder I get : 2010-03-19 23:00:01 -- info: CONFIG - VM_BACKUP_VOLUME = /vmfs/volumes/datastore1/backup/ 2010-03-19 23:00:01 -- info: CONFIG - VM_BACKUP_ROTATION_COUNT = 3 2010-03-19 23:00:01 -- info: CONFIG - DISK_BACKUP_FORMAT = zeroedthick 2010-03-19 23:00:01 -- info: CONFIG - ADAPTER_FORMAT = buslogic 2010-03-19 23:00:01 -- info: CONFIG - POWER_VM_DOWN_BEFORE_BACKUP = 0 2010-03-19 23:00:01 -- info: CONFIG - ENABLE_HARD_POWER_OFF = 0 2010-03-19 23:00:01 -- info: CONFIG - ITER_TO_WAIT_SHUTDOWN = 3 2010-03-19 23:00:01 -- info: CONFIG - POWER_DOWN_TIMEOUT = 5 2010-03-19 23:00:01 -- info: CONFIG - SNAPSHOT_TIMEOUT = 15 2010-03-19 23:00:01 -- info: CONFIG - LOG_LEVEL = info 2010-03-19 23:00:01 -- info: CONFIG - BACKUP_LOG_OUTPUT = stdout 2010-03-19 23:00:01 -- info: CONFIG - VM_SNAPSHOT_MEMORY = 0 2010-03-19 23:00:01 -- info: CONFIG - VM_SNAPSHOT_QUIESCE = 0 2010-03-19 23:00:01 -- info: CONFIG - VMDK_FILES_TO_BACKUP = all http://... 2010-03-19 23:39:35 -- info: Initiate backup for vm1 2010-03-19 23:39:35 -- info: Creating Snapshot "ghettoVCB-snapshot-2010-03-19" for vm1 Destination disk format: VMFS zeroedthick Cloning disk '/vmfs/volumes/datastore1/vm1/vm1_1.vmdk'... ^MClone: 0% done.^MClone: 1% done.^MClone: 2% done.^MClone: 3% done.^MClone: 4% done.^MClone: 5% done.^MClone: 6% done.^MClone: 7% done.^MClone: 8% done.^MClone: 9% done.^MClone Failed to clone disk : The file already exists (39). I can't run anymore ghetto VCB because the VM has a snapshot which has not been deleted. I know how to delete the snapshot, but I don't know why the VCB script is not able to handle vm abckup rotate ? Any idea ? Thanks !

  • OSX Server permissions weirdness...

    - by kylex
I have a work network running off an OSX server. I've set the permissions so that any user in our group can access a certain folder. It's become apparent though, that whenever a user accesses a folder, that the folder becomes locked for all other users afterwords, and I have to reset the permissions again. No clue why this is happening. Any suggestions?

  • Windows 2008 R2 File Sharing - 'Access denied' if groups are specified in ACL

    - by John Smith
I am trying to move our old Windows 2003 File Server to Windows 2008 R2. What I have noticed, however, is that the entries for groups in the ACL are being ignored. For example, a user is part of a group in active directory. If I create a folder and enable full access for this group, then share this folder (and define sharing permissions for this group), users in that group do not get access to that folder. If I make an entry in the ACL for the user itself, it works perfectly. These even applies to my domain administrator account - If I create a folder and give full control to the local administrators group / domain administrators group, and I physically log on to the server, I still do not get access - I need to explicitly define my name to proceed. I am not sure what the problem is, tried looking it up in Google to no avail Any assistance will be greatly appreciated
