• Request Multiple Maya Floating Server Licenses for extra Satellite clients

  Hello all: I am currently setting up a 'render farm' for Maya 2008 Unlimited. One Maya workstation license comes with the ability to render on eight satellite nodes. It works perfect, the remote rendering works like a charm. However, we have additional boxes to set up as satellite rendering nodes, and we have extra Maya workstation licenses. Ideally, the workstation can take two licenses and thus render on 16 nodes, but I haven't been able to figure it out, or determine if it is actually possible. It's a big project, where rendering the entire thing is in the scope of weeks, so the speed up would be worth it. Any thoughts?

• Crosstab with multiple items

  In SPSS, it is (relatively) easy to create a cross tab with multiple variables using the factors as the table heading. So, something like the following (made up data, etc.). Q1, Q2, and Q3 each have either a 1, a 2, or a 3 for each person. 1 (very Often) 2 (Rarely) 3 (Never) Q1. Likes it 12 15 13 Q2. Recommends it 22 11 10 Q3. Used it 22 12 9 In SPSS, one can even request row, column, or total percentages. I've tried table(), ftable(), xtab(), CrossTable() from gmodels, and CrossTable() from descr, and none of these can handle (afaik) multiple variables; they mostly seem to handle 1 variable crossed with another variable, and the 3rd creates layers. Is there a package with some good cross tabbing/table examples that I could use to figure this out? I'm sure I'm missing something simple, so I appreciate you pointing out what I missed. Perhaps I have to generate each row as a separate list and then make a dataframe and print the dataframe?

• Painless way of consolidating files across multiple machines/OSes

  Just bought a NAS. So I thought I'd get all our photos, media files and pdfs consolidated, de-duplicated, de-junked and virus-checked and stick them all on it. We have 3 laptops, one running Windows, the others OSX. We have a file server running Windows - it was the result of an earlier attempt at a networked fileserver - and a Mac Pro that is also kind of a server (previous attempts at this job have resulted in most of our stuff being on it). Also memory cards/sticks, cd backups and so on. I would be grateful if anyone could suggest a strategy or, ideally, tool(s) I could use to solve this problem. It is probably no more than one or two terabytes of data in total, but I can imagine that going through it all manually, file-by-file may well drive me insane.

We need the backup application to backup to a NAS and perform incremental backups following the full backup. We also need to be able to store versions of each file.   I have a web app "myapp.com" that users can use to set up their own websites. Our application is written in php and should be able to do the following: send mails to our own users "from: [email protected]" send mails from our clients to their clients "from: [email protected]" We don't need to take care of incoming mails, just send out mails with the correct from and reply-to addresses. We cannot make this work using Google Apps (limited to our own domain in the from-field) and we cannot make google apps or google apps domains for all our clients, so we are looking for another simple to manage and set up solution. Does anyone have experience with this, please let me know! Thanks

My setup: Backendserver: ngnix: 2 different websites (2 top domains) in virtualenv, running gunicorn/python/django Backendserver hardware(VPS) 2gb ram, 8 CPU Databaseserver: postgresql - pg_bouncer Backendserver hardware (VPS) 1gb ram, 8 CPU Varnishserver: only running varnish Varnishserver hardware (VPS) 1gb ram, 8 CPU I'm trying to set up a varnish server to handle rare spike in traffic (20 000 unique req/s) The spike happens when a tv program mention one of the sites. What do I need to do, to make the varnish server cache both sites/domains on my backendserver? Would everything be correct if I change the DNS of the two domain to point to the varnishserver, or is there extra setup before it would work?   I'm having troubles using SSL for 2 different websites on my IIS 7 server. Please see my setup below: website1: my.corporate.portal.com SSL certificate for website1: *.corporate.portal.com https/443 binded to my.corporate.portal.com website2: client.portal.com SSL certificate issued for: client.portal.com When I try to bind https in IIS7 with the client's certificate, I don't have an option to put host name(grayed out) and as soon as I select 'client.portal.com' cert, I'm getting the following error in IIS: At least one other site is using the same HTTPS binding and the binding is configured with a different certificate. Are you sure that you want to reuse this HTTPS binding and reassign the other site or sites to use the new certificate? If I click 'yes' my.corporate.portal.com website stops using the proper SSL cert. Could you suggest something?

And maybe there is spaces and tabs before {{{ and }}}. I want to substitude all [[ and ]] into [ and ] between {{{ and }}}. NOTICE: I need to write the result back to original file. ( Maybe sed or awk is not the only way to do this ? )

• WAMP Installation - Multiple PHP Version Issues

  I have installed WAMP because I am attempting to modify an an application which uses Zend Optimizer (I cannot use Z.O. with PHP5.3+, which is why I decided to install WAMP). I downloaded the latest version - Wamp Server 2.1 - which comes bundled with PHP5.3.5. I then downloaded a PHP version that would be compatible with Z.O. - 5.2.9. - and a compatible Apache version, 2.0.63. My problem: PHP scripts run fine, but anything with MySQL does not work. Running the testmysql.php script returns the fatal error: Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_connect() in C:\wamp\www\testmysql.php on line 2". I have looked in the PHP INI files inside both PHP versions, and I'm fairly sure the relevant information is there. At least, there are parts inside that mention MySQL! Perhaps somebody could clarify exactly what information should be present? Also, when visiting a page that called phpinfo(), I noticed that the 'Loaded Configuration File' was pointing to C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.3.5\php.ini, even though I have enabled the older PHP version. I've stopped and started Apache, too, and that hasn't made a difference. Is anybody able to offer any assistance? Anything at all would be great; I'm not very good at messing around with Apache/

• Outlook Express hangs when selecting multiple emails

  I'm using Outlook Express (6, I think) on Windows XP. Lately, it has been hanging. Sometimes this happens at startup (right after the main window with all the panes loads) and sometimes when selecting many emails (sometimes as low as three emails at once, sometimes at ten, it's not a fixed number). When this happens, msimn.exe starts to use 98-100% CPU and RAM usage shoots up very quickly, reaching hundreds of megabytes in half a minute. The message pane goes gray instead of showing the message contents. As I said, this sometimes happens right after the main window loads, sometimes when selecting many emails at once. I tried backing up everything, deleting the identities, creating a new one and restoring, but this still happens.

  As it is told in git-config manual, I have three files to specify git repo configuration: $GIT_DIR/config, ~/.gitconfig and $(prefix)/etc/gitconfig. Is it possible to make git read another config file (for example .gitconfig in root of the repo) after reading $GIT_DIR/config? I want it as I created git command aliases in .git/config and I would prefer to store them in repo, so I can restore them when cloning and for example.

• Wrong chrome full screen resolution with multiple displays

  I am using Google Chrome on Windows 7 64bit with two displays. The displays have different resolutions and aspect-ratios. My problem is best visible when playing back full-screen videos from a flash player inside chrome (but it is not flash related). The maximum size is calculated from the primary displays' resolution, even when the relevant window is maximised on the second screen. The problem is also visible on websites that set the width to 100%. The 100% then apply to the primary display, even when the window is opened on the secondary display. Are there any known solutions to this problem? I am observing it since many Chrome versions, do not know if it has been ever correct.

• Sharepoint alerts not working when multiple people are in an item

  We use Sharepoint Services 3.0 as a project tracking tool. We have a list set up that contains your basic information (description, etc.) plus we have a "assigned person" column that is of type Person or Group that we use to associate list items with individuals. This column supports multiple selections. We would like to set up alerts such that each person gets an alert email only if they are assigned to a list item. The approach we have taken is to set up a view on this list that is filtered to show list items where the assigned person equals [Me], and then to create an alert on this list that is set to send an email when someone changes an items that appears in the view. This works well when there is only one person in the assigned person column. It does not work when there is more than one person in the assigned person column. Does anybody know why this wouldn't work, or what I can do to troubleshoot? Is there a better way to achieve the end result? We could make several "assigned person" columns and not allow multiple selections, but that seems kind of kludgy.

They have it set up so that you can log into any computer in the lab, and it automatically loads your desktop, home directory, etc, which makes it so all computers in the lab look the same to you, regardless or which one you're using. I've seen it done with nested substitute formulas, but as I probably need to remove even more characters in the future. I'd rather use a more elegant solution. Perhaps even replacing an entire class of non-alphanumeric characters is another solution?

• VPN into multiple LAN Subnets

  I need to figure out a way to allow access to two LAN subnets on a SonicWall NSA 220 through the built-in SonicWall GlobalVPN server. I've Googled and tried everything I can think of, but nothing has worked. The SonicWall NSA management web interface is also very unorganized; I'm probably missing something simple/obvious. There are two networks, called Network A and Network B for simplicity, with two different subnets. A SonicWall NSA 220 is the router/firewall/DHCP Server for Network A, which is plugged into the X2 port. Some other router is the router/firewall/DHCP server for Network B. Both of these networks need to be managed through a VPN connection. I setup the X3 interface on the SonicWall to have a static IP in the Network B subnet and plugged it in. Network A and Network B should not be able to access each other, which appears the be the default configuration. I then configured and enabled VPN. The SonicWall currently has the X1 interface setup with a subnet of 192.168.1.0/24 with a DHCP Server enabled, although it is not plugged in. When I VPN into the SonicWall, I get an IP address supplied by the DHCP Server on the X1 interface and I can access Network A remotely although I do not have access to Network B. How can I allow access to both Network A and Network B to VPN clients although keep devices on Network B from accessing Network A and vice-versa. Is there some way to create a VPN-only subnet (something like 10.100.0.0/24) on the SonicWall that can access Network A and Network B without changing the current network configuration or allowing devices on both netorks "see" each other? How would I go about setting this up? • Multiple foldmethods in vim

  I use the folding option of vim quite a lot, and have usually set foldmethod to syntax. Recently I discovered that it is possible to add custom folds, such that I can put whole blocks in /*{{{*/ and /*}}}*/ which is very useful for grouping large sections of a source file together. However to use that feature I need to set foldmethod to marker, and I loose the syntax folding. Is it possible to have two active foldmethods at the same time in vim? set foldmethod=syntax,marker does not work.

• Adding Multiple Interfaces to EC2 Ubuntu 12.04

  I have a m1.medium Ubuntu 12.04 instance with two ENI's. I have a VPC setup with a private and public subnet. Private: 10.50.1.0/24 Public: 10.50.101.0/24 I initiated the instance on the private subnet. I configured a NAT instance and route all servers in the private subnet internet access. The route tables on the private subnet point towards the NAT instance and the route table on the public subnet point to the internet gateway. I am trying to add a public interface on the machine so that I can put it behind a ELB. When I added the second ENI and configured a static IP in /etc/network/interfaces and restarted the network services, I can no longer access from the Public subnet to the Private Subnet. Works Private private Private public Does not work Public private From Public Private, I ran a TCPDUMp on the private machine and can see the request coming in. My guess is it's trying to route over the new Public interface instead of the Private. Here's my route: default 10.50.1.1 0.0.0.0 UG 100 0 0 eth0 10.50.1.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth0 10.50.101.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth1 My networking knowledge is limited and I believe I have to add some routes but unsure of what command/syntax needs to be.

• Cloning single disk drive to multiple drives simultaneously

  I am looking for a way to clone single disk drive to more than one disk drive at the same time. I have prepared system images on 1TB disks, and it takes almost 2 hours to clone one disk to another, and then it goes up exponentially, in order to have say 30 disks cloned. If it was possible to clone one disk to more than single target, it would simplify whole procedure a lot. Also, is there something that prevents this kind of operation? I mean, is there some special reason why every disk cloning software that I know about supports only single target drive? Thanks!
