• Why android app does not recognize GPRS, WiFi upon changing data connection

  If i turn off WiFi, i’m not able to open the app ( this is with no data connection, even without data connection it should display cached items ) If i tun off WiFi and turn on GPRS the app cannot recognize this and gives the error page no Wifi/GPRS connection. if i restart the phone with GPRS on the app works fine till i change data connection type. if i restart the phone with WiFi on the app works fine till i change the data connection type. whenever i change the data connection type i have to restart the phone so the app can recognize the connection type. Why my android app does not recognize WiFi, GPRS upon changing data connection in real time?

• UITableView setting standalone delegate object?

  Hi have setup a sample application using a UITableView. Initially I did this by conforming my controller to and , added a tableView in IB and connected "datasource" & "delegate" to Files Owner. It all works so thats good. What I have been trying out is creating my own class for the delegate. I created a new class and added and , but quickly found I could not connect the tableViewdataSource / delegate. To solve this I added an "Object" (NSObject) in IB and set it to my new class. I then connected the dataSource and delegate outlets to this object. It sort of works, the app runs and displays the tableView, but when I try and scroll the table the app crashes. Can I ask if I am going about this the right way? gary

• Using Excel To Read Access Without MS Access On Computer

  I have written code that joins two table in access, using criteria supplied from drop down lists in excel and then returns the data to a specific location on the spreadsheet (titles already on the sheet). This works fine on my box and others with MS Access on the machine, but the purpose of writing this was to give people (associates) that dont have the MS Access on their machines (which is most of them) to be able to do simple queries to the database. When we try to run this on a machine without MS Access, we are getting the error message "Compile Error: Cant find project or library." Since this works fine on any machine so far that has Access, but not the others I am wondering if this is not possible without the actual Access software. Any help or insight would be appreciated. • Linux standard input issue

  Hello everyone, I am new to Linux. And I am using Red Hat Enterprise Version 5. There is a ruby program which use standard input as its input (e.g. the Ruby program process input from standard input). I think standard input should be keyboard, correct? So, I think other kinds of input (non-standard input) should not work (i.e. the ruby program should not be able to read input from such non-standard input), but actually I have tried using pipe works, I am so confused because I think pipe should be some other kinds of input -- other than standard input, why it could work? i.e. put text "123" in abc.txt with pipe, could achieve the same result as using keyboard as input to type "123" for the ruby program. Here is the sample which works and makes me confused, cat abc.txt | ~/test/rubysrc/foo.rb thanks in advance, George

  Hi, I'm trying to understand how mod_rewrite works. I've been using it before but this week I tried to write rules to a new website and it doesn't works. • JQuery: Specify placement of error messages inline using Metadata and Validate plugins

  I'm doing form validation using JQuery with the validate and metadata plugins. I'm using the metadata plugin so I can specify the rules and messages inline in the html form instead of in the javascript in the page . I'm getting an error when I try to specify the location of the error message using errorPlacement. (If I specify it in the section it works fine, but not if I specify it inline.) Here's what my html looks like: <input name="list" id="list1" type="checkbox" validate="{required:true, minlength:1, messages:{required:'Please select at least one newsletter.', minlength:'Please select at least one newsletter.'}, errorPlacement: function(error, element) { error.appendTo('#listserror');} }"> As reported by the validate debug function, the error is: "error.appendTo is not a function." • snipMate only working on empty buffer?

  I'm attempting to use snipMate with sql files, however it doesn't seem to work when editing an existing file. If I create a new empty buffer (no file; e.g. launch gvim from the start menu), and set the filetype to sql (:set ft=sql), it works. However, if I then try to open a sql file (e.g. :e c:\blah.sql) and edit it, snipMate no longer works. What gives!? Setup: gvim vim 7.3 Windows 7 snipMate 0.84 Also, I do in fact have filetype plugin on in my .vimrc file. edit Apparently if I open an empty buffer, set the filetype to sql, then save to file using w c:\blah.sql, I now have a sql file open AND snipMate continues to work. edit Here's a gist of my current .vimrc in case it helps: https://gist.github.com/3946877

• Problem while adding new Object to CoreData App

  Hi Another Day, another CoreData problem,...but hopefully the last one now. Ok here is a copy of what I have : I have a List of Hotel Guests that stay in one Room and have Preferences. Once ready the user should select a guest and see the data and should also be able to add new guest, select the room (maintained also by application) and select their preferences (where the user can also add new preferences). The guest can have no or many preferences. So here is what I have so far. I created 3 Entities : - Rooms with roomnumber - Preferences with name - GuestInfo with name - with these Relationships room (Destination Rooms) and prefs (Destination Preferences with "To-Many Relationship") The prefs is a NSSet when you create a Managed Object Class. Now I created a UITableViewController to display all the data. I also have an edit and add mode. When I add a new Guest and just fill out the name, everything works fine. But when I want to add the prefs or the room number I get this error : Illegal attempt to establish a relationship 'room' between objects in different contexts Now, what confuses me is that when I add a guest and enter just the name, save it, go back and edit it and select the prefs and room number it works ? I have this line in both ViewControllers to select the room or prefs : [editedObject setValue:selectedRoom forKey:editedFieldKey]; with this .h : NSManagedObject *editedObject; NSString *editedFieldKey; NSString *editedFieldName; Again, it works on the editing mode but not when I want to add a fresh object. And to be sure, this is what I do for adding an new Guest : - (IBAction)addNewItem { AddViewController *addViewController = [[AddViewController alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewStyleGrouped]; addViewController.delegate = self; addViewController.context = _context; // Create a new managed object context for the new book -- set its persistent store coordinator to the same as that from the fetched results controller's context. • iPad Video Playback only delivers audio, not visuals.

  Hi guys, Recently we've developed an iPhone app for an external company, and everything works fine in the app. There is a section where the app pulls video from the client's server, and streams it into the iPhone's MPMoviePlayerController. This works fine on the iPhone and iPodTouch - both the video and the audio show up just great. The problem, however, is that when the app is run on an iPad (using the iPad's iPhone simulator thingo that it does) only the audio plays, and no video can be seen. Does anybody have any suggestions about what may be causing this? I thought perhaps it was the encoding, but then why would this prevent the video from playing on the iPad, and not the iPhone?

• Javascript Onclicks not working?

  I have a jQuery application which finds a specific div, and edit's its inner HTML. As it does this, it adds several divs with onclicks designed to call a function in my JS. For some strange reason, clicking on these never works if I have a function defined in my code set to activate. However, it works fine when calling "alert("Testing");". I am quite bewildered at this as I have in the past been able to make code-generated onclicks work just fine. The only thing new here is jQuery.

• Why is the EntityManager in my GAE + Spring (+graniteds) project reset to null?

  Hi all, I'm having a problem with autowiring my EntityManager. Actually at server startup I can see that the injection works ok, though when trying to use my EntityManager it appears to be null again. @Component public class DataDaoImpl { protected EntityManager entityManager; @Autowired public void setEntityManager(EntityManager entityManager) { System.out.println("Injecting "+entityManager); //works! this.entityManager = entityManager; } public void createData(String key, String value) { System.out.println("In createData entityManager is "+entityManager); //entityManager null!? ... Output: Injecting org.datanucleus.store.appengine.jpa.DatastoreEntityManager@a60d19 The server is running at http://localhost:8888/ In createData entityManager is null So somehow the autowired entityManager is reset to null when trying to use it. • Safari's never-ending loading message when an iframe does not have a src

  I'm using @rem's jQuery :visited plugin to do something with visited links on a page. The plugin works by creating an invisible iframe, injecting the HTML source, and comparing the colour of links to see which have been visited. It works perfectly. The problem I have is that on Safari, the status bar message always hangs on "Loading (X-1) of X items" - i.e. it thinks there is still some resource still needing to be loaded. I've narrowed it down to this plugin, and the fact that it attaches the IFRAME element to the BODY before the src is set (or injected in this case). I've tried rearranging the code to set the src before the append happens, but that breaks the plugin's functionality. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this issue? It's not a major issue as the site still functions perfectly well, but it's an annoying glitch that could be confusing to users.

  Hi, I'm using Visual Studio 2008 with the Boost v1.42.0 library. If I use an enum as the template argument, I get a compile error when adding a value using push_back(). The compiler error is: 'T': is not a legal base class and the location of the error is move.hpp line 79. #include <boost/interprocess/containers/vector.hpp> class Test { public: enum Types { Unknown = 0, First = 1, Second = 2, Third = 3 }; typedef boost::container::vector<Types> TypesVector; }; int main() { Test::TypesVector o; o.push_back(Test::First); return 0; } If I use a std::vector instead it works. And if I resize the Boost version first and then set the values using the [] operator it also works. Is there some way to make this work using push_back()?

• Flowplayer RTMP streaming, mp4, Amazon Cloudfront and iPad/iPhone

  I've been working on a site where 2 video clips are streamed using Amazon Cloudfront and Flowplayer. You can see one video/page here: http://graemeclarkoration.org.au/gcorationp1.htm (works as a Highslide popup/modal window, hence the lack of adornment). While it works in all browsers and Android devices, I can't get it to work on an iPad or an iPhone; the page opens fine and the video box appears but the video never loads. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix or even why the video won't load? MTIA

  We have a asp.net app that talks to a pretty complex JEE 5 web service. Everything works fine except when we throw an exception. We throw a simple exception without any inner/orig exception, but we get this message on the .Net side. Additional XML content is present in the fault detail element. Only a single element is allowed. Works fine with a java client, as in we can get the exception message. What can we do?

  While reading a book about JavaScript I stumbled across an example: var names = new Array("Paul","Catherine","Steve"); var ages = new Array(31,29,34); var concatArray; concatArray = names.concat(ages); My question is, why doesn't the variable concatArray need to be define as a new Array() in order to store the concatenated data for both arrays name and ages , but when I try to treat the concatArray as an array by adding another line of code "document.write(concatArray[0])", it works just like an array and shows me the data stored in the first element. I just wonder why I'm not declaring the concatArray as a new array, yet it still works as one.

• SoundPool.load() and FileDescriptor from file

  I tried using the load function of the SoundPool that takes a FileDescriptor, because I wanted to be able to set the offset and length. The File is not stored in the Ressources but a file on the storage card. Even though neither the load nor the play function of the SoundPool throw any Exception or print anything to the console, the sound is not played. Using the same code, but use the file path string in the SoundPool constructor works perfectly. This is how I have tried the loading (start equals 0 and length is the length of the file in miliseconds): FileInputStream fileIS = new FileInputStream(new File(mFile)); mStreamID = mSoundPool.load(fileIS.getFD(), start, length, 0); mPlayingStreamID = mSoundPool.play(mStreamID, 1f, 1f, 1, 0, 1f); If I would use this, it works: mStreamID = mSoundPool.load(mFile, 0); mPlayingStreamID = mSoundPool.play(mStreamID, 1f, 1f, 1, 0, 1f); Any ideas anyone? If I inherit from Border everything works fine, what am I missing?
