• Sendmail yields "user unkown" errors even after (wrongly) setting up a catch-all account

  I was trying to follow the instructions found here to set up a catch-all account, but still I get the following message for mails sent to non-existent users: The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.1.1 [email protected]... User unknown (state 14). Everything else works, though... /etc/mail/local-host-names and /etc/mail/virtusertable were set up as instructed. Any advice? Thanks!

• How do I override apt-get removing dependent packages?

  I want to replace postfix with exim4 on my Ubuntu test server to reflect the setup I have on my production server, but apt-get and aptitude (quite understandably) insist on removing several packages that depend upon having a mail stack. However, in this case I am prepared to override apt-get's undoubted good sense as exim should fulfil all the requirements of the dependent packages, providing mail and sendmail functionality for my applications. I don't want to remove the dependent packages as there is months of effort invested and, although backed up, will be a pain to reconstruct properly.

I understand that Microsoft Exchange is a paid/licensed product, but I was curious if there might be a host that has a free hosting model (e.g. for <= 3 mailboxes per domain)? Larger mail boxes per domain == cost. ?? Finally, please refrain from suggesting other mail services (eg. sendmail, etc).

  I have a postfix installation and have setup relaying through google apps, but when I send mail to postfix it relays it to google apps using the ONE account I have specified in the main.cf. Is there a way to do this more dynamically. Ideally, the user would authenticate with postfix when sending mail and postfix would use that username and password to authenticate against gmail. Everything is great the first time it runs but crashes when called again either with custom functions or viewDidLoad.   Hello I want to to implement password recovery in my web application. I'd like to avoid using secret questions. I could just send the password by e-mail but I think it would be risky. Maybe I could generate a new temporary random password and send it by e-mail but I think it is as risky as the above point. Can I send a url by e-mail for example http://mysite.com/token=xxxx where xxxx is a random token associated with the user. So when the user navigates to that url he/she can reset the password. Any ideas?

  I am looking for a very tiny Mail-Transfer-Agent (MTA) for my smaller VPS which only need to send emails for new accounts or notifications. Originally, I used PHP sockets and wrote a 4kb STMP class to connect to google SMTP and send the emails - but I would like to be free of the 500 emails a day (or whatever) limit they have. On larger VPS I can run Postfix - but it takes about 50MB which makes it too big for a 128/256MB VPS. So are there any very tiny MTA's out there - or is there a rundown of the protocol of sending email (I guess it works by forwarding the mail through other servers till it reaches the correct end mail server right?) so I could build a smaller bash or PHP script for this outgoing stuff?

  So I bit into the hype and recently purchased an apple wireless keyboard and that evil bar-of-soap thing apple makes for a mouse. Couple of hundred dollars later and this is where I begin to worry about RSI. Go figure. Don't get me wrong, this apple mouse is genius and looks pretty as hell, but my right wrist feels tired after a full day's worth of work, so i'm thinking of switching. Anyone out there use a trackball? is this worse? should I get a super-ergonomic mouse instead? I've seen mouse-trackball combos but am not sold, they still elicit the same end-finger behaviour detrimental for RSI, right? I also have a wrist-rest mousepad, but couldn't find one suitable for my keyboard. I've even considered having a small touchscreen where the mousepad should go, no mouse (or alternatively, a usb trackpad). Just looking for ideas, is the trackball better than the mouse? /mp

  I've a listview like this ListView: ————----- Mango Orange Grapes Grapes Grapes Apple Strawberry Whenever i navigate using downarrow, the BlueHighlight pauses at the first Grapes, a dotted rectangle start from second grapes and pauses at the third grapes, then the BlueHighlight resumes from Apple. This seems weird and it grows more weird when the navigation is upwards. It jumps from Apple to Orange or mango. Is this due to Virtualization? It seems only the duplicate data (grapes) is creating the problem. Any Help?

I use CI's email class from the controller to do mail out, but I discovered that if I use the "mail" protocol, some (not all) users see un-rendered html emails with the html mark up viewable, while others do not. But if I use the "sendmail" protocol, all users get rendered html emails.
