• Hidden controls, iframes or divs

  What happens to the controls or the iframe or the div, which are hidden? Do they get transferred to the user side? Disabled: does it get transferred to the user side? What I want is, an aspx page will be having many iframes to display different pages. There will be many div tags to display CSS formatted information. To understand what I mean by many:- I have to transfer a complete website with 30 aspx pages into one single page! I have simply combined everything resulting in one extremely huge page. My concern is that on local host it loads fast, but when on online server accessed by numerous people for education purposes, the site (ONE PAGE) WILL SLOW DOWN terribly. To overcome this I thought of using hidden and disable options. What is an improved way of achieving the above? Yes, it sounds silly but this is the requirement. Edit: Yes, I know id and server tag must be set, but what I am asking will the div tag be sent to the user's browser? One answer is no. So can I enable them using JavaScript? Like document.getElementById(id).style.visibility="visible" What if I disable them, and from coding of JavaScript enable them? Will they be loaded at the time of enabling?

• Attempted to read or write protected memory-Sql Compact and .NEt

  I'm using Sql Compact3.5 as my DB with C# .NET . I have a strange problem with my application. I'm running the code in two PC with same configuration except the Sql Compact installed. In one PC where Sql Compact3.5 is not installed I'm getting this strange error: Exception :Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. Inner Exception : Stack Trace : at System.Data.SqlServerCe.NativeMethods.CloseStore(IntPtr pSeStore) at System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeConnection.ReleaseNativeInterfaces() at System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeConnection.Dispose(Boolean disposing) at System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeConnection.Finalize() Source : System.Data.SqlServerCe I don't know where i have went wrong. I checked my code and included try catch everywhere. I'm handling Unhandled exception also using this . I am getting this error from a console application which I'm starting from Windows Form. In both the application I've inserted the Unhandled Exception coding and it's getting executed and getting return to the texxt file. But still Microsoft Don't Error Report is getting generated and I get that Dialog box!!! Y still that dialog box is getting generated is the trouble!!! Is there any way to supress that Dialog box??? Y I'm getting this box when I'm handling the exception and it's executing my catch handler??? In another PC where SQL Compact is installed no error I get!!! Any idea y is that so???

• Download MMS content on Blackberry

  Hi I am relatively new to coding for the blackberry and I need to write a java application that can capture all incoming and outgoing MMS data from a Blackberry device. I have gotten the capturing of outgoing MMS's sorted with the use of A sendListener, but the problem comes with the incoming MMS's. If I use a MessageListener that processes only those of type BinaryMessage, i can capture the binary notification SMS that comes in when there is an incoming MMS. From this notification, i can get the senders MSISDN as well as the URL on the MMSC where the content is stored. To get the actual MMS content, i presume i need to download it from this URL, but im unable to get this working. I have tried just opening a HTTPConnetion to this URL, opening an inputStream on it and reading from there, but i retrieve no content. If i manually go to that URL on the blackberry, i can see the content fine (and of course the blackberry can download it automatically anyway). Can anyone please help me asap on how i can get the mms content for incoming MMS's. Thanks alot

• Using SVN with a MySQL database ran by xamp - yes or no? (and how?)

  For my current PHP/MySQL project (over a group of 4 to 5 team members), we are using this setup: each developer codes and test on his localhost running xamp, and upload to a test server via SVN. One question that I have now is how to synchronize the MySQL database? I may have added a new table to project and the PHP code references to it, so my other team members would need to access that table for my code (once they got it through SVN) to work. We are not always working in the same office all the time, so having a LAN and a MySQL server in the office is not feasible. So I am toying with 2 solutions Setup a test DB online, and have all the coders will reference to that, even when coding from localhost. Downside: you can't test if you happen not have internet access. Somehow sync the localhost copy of MySQL DB. Is that kind of silly? And if I do consider this, how do I do it? (which folder do I add to SVN?) (I guess a related question is how to automatically update the live MySQL DB from the testing DB, regardless if it is on a remote server or hosted locally via xamp. Any advice regarding that would be welcomed!)

  I have a NSMutableArray I get by loading a plist into it. The date field comes in as a string and i want to change it into a nsdate. I can change an nsstring into an nsdate. My array is an array of objects like the one below; { Date = "1/1/2009" Description = "Have you ever looked at a badger and thought i wonder how far you could fire that out of a cannon? Well this talk is for you"; File = "http://www.badgerCannon.org.uk/mp3/070310pm.mp3"; Series = "The Badger planet"; Speaker = "Will Ferell"; Title = "Is it a bird, is it a plane? no its a badger"; } I loop through and pull out the date and convert it from a NSString to a NSDate. I try writing it back in using the code; [[self.MediaDataArray objectAtIndex:i] replaceObjectAtIndex:0 withObject:Date]; but it errors and i am pretty sure it is because i am not putting it back into the array in the same format, ie just as a date not as date = "date". But lets face it i don't really know! Am i barking up the wrong tree? Please help, i have got the coding equivalent of writters block, or alternatively am just being really stupid! thanks in advance

• Embedded SQL in OO languages like Java

  One of the things that annoys me working with SQL in OO languages is having to define SQL statements in strings. When I used to work on IBM mainframes, the languages used an SQL preprocessor to parse SQL statements out of the native code, so the statements could be written in cleartext SQL without the obfuscation of strings, for instance in Cobol there is a EXEC SQL .... END-EXEC syntax construct that allows pure SQL statements to be embedded in the Cobol code. <pure cobol code, including assignment of value to local variable HOSTVARIABLE> EXEC SQL SELECT COL_A, COL_B, COL_C INTO :COLA, :COLB, :COLC FROM TAB_A WHERE COL_D = :HOSTVARIABLE END_EXEC <more cobol code, variables COLA, COLB, COLC have been set> ...this makes the SQL statement really easy to read & check for errors. Between the EXEC SQL .... END-EXEC tokens there are no constraints on indentation, linebreaking etc., so you can format the SQL statement according to taste. Note that this example is for a single-row select, when a multiple-row resultset is expected, the coding is different (but still v. easy to read). So, taking Java as an example What made the "old COBOL" approach undesirable ? Not only SQL, but system calls could be made much more readable with that approach. Let's call it the embedded foreign language preprocessor approach. Would an embedded foreign language preprocessor for SQL be useful to implement ? Would you see a benefit in being able to write native SQL statements inside java code ? Edit I'm really asking if you think SQL in OO languages is a throwback, and if not then what could be done to make it better.

• Managing lots of callback recursion in Nodejs

  In Nodejs, there are virtually no blocking I/O operations. This means that almost all nodejs IO code involves many callbacks. This applies to reading and writing to/from databases, files, processes, etc. A typical example of this is the following: var useFile = function(filename,callback){ posix.stat(filename).addCallback(function (stats) { posix.open(filename, process.O_RDONLY, 0666).addCallback(function (fd) { posix.read(fd, stats.size, 0).addCallback(function(contents){ callback(contents); }); }); }); }; ... useFile("test.data",function(data){ // use data.. }); I am anticipating writing code that will make many IO operations, so I expect to be writing many callbacks. I'm quite comfortable with using callbacks, but I'm worried about all the recursion. Am I in danger of running into too much recursion and blowing through a stack somewhere? If I make thousands of individual writes to my key-value store with thousands of callbacks, will my program eventually crash? Am I misunderstanding or underestimating the impact? If not, is there a way to get around this while still using Nodejs' callback coding style?

• Mingling C++ classes with Objective C classes

  I am using the iphone SDK and coding primarily in C++ while using parts of the SDK in obj-c. Is it possible to designate a C++ class in situations where an obj-c class is needed? For instance: 1) when setting delegates to obj-c objects. I cannot make a C++ class derive from a Delegate protocol so this and possibly other reasons prevent me from making my C++ class a delegate for various obj-c objects. What I do as a solution is create an obj-c adapter class that contains a ptr to the C++ class and is used as the delegate (notifying the C++ class when it is called). It feels cumbersome to write these every time I need to get delegate notifications to a C++ class. 2) when setting selectors This goes hand in hand with item 1. Say I want to set a callback to fire when something is done, like a button press or a setAnimationDidStopSelector in the UIView animation functionality. It would be nice to be able to designate a C++ function along with the relevant delegate for setAnimationDelegate. Well, I suspect this isn't readily possible, but if anyone has any suggestions on how to do it if it is, or on how to write such things more easily, I would love to hear them. Thanks.

  I have set up my data model in xcode like so EntityA AttA1 AttA2 EntityB AttB1 AttB2 AttB3 I then set up the relationships EntityA Name: rlpToEntityB Destination: EntityB Inverse: rlpToEntityA To Many: Checked EntityB Name: rlpToEntityA Destination: EntityA Inverse: rlpToEntityB To Many: UnChecked i.e. relationship between the two where Each one of EntityA can have many EntityB's It is my understanding that if i fetch a subset of EntityB's I can then retrieve the values for the related EntityA's. I have this working so that i can retrieve the EntityB values using NSManagedObject *objMO = [fetchedResultsController objectAtIndexPath:indexPath]; strValueFromEntityB = [objMO valueForKey:@"AttB1"]; However, if I try to retrieve a related value from EntityA by doing the following strValueFromEntityA = [objMO valueForKey:@"AttA1"]; I get the error "The entity EntityB is not Key value coding-compliant for the key Atta1" Not surprisingly i suppose if i switch things around to fetch from EntityA i cannot access attributes of EntityB So it appears the defined relationshipare being ignored. Can anyone spot what i am doing wrong? I confess im very new to iPhone programming and especially to Core Data so please go easy on me and provide verbose explanations or point me in the direction a specific resource. I have downloaded the apple sample apps (Core Data Books, Top Songs and recipes) but I still can't work this out. Thanks in advance, Nev.

• SEO - Problems possibly related to 301 Moved Permanently

  Right, here's the story: We have had a website for one of our brands now for many years, the site design was very bad and recently did a complete overhaul, mostly design, but also some of the backend code. The original site was using links such as this example.com/products/item/127 and thus I wanted to change them to be move user friendly, especially to include the product name, the same link now reads example.com/product/127/my-jucy-product/. Since our switch over we have seen our Google results take a beating (we were on the first page for our normal search terms, now we're nearer the 4th!). The other problem we're having is that the links to the old products haven't updated to the new links despite me coding a 301 redirect from old to new. The 301 is not being fired from .htaccess, but in our PHP framework. I had a look at how the site is being loaded from a old link that is still in Google and here's what firebug is reporting: GET <google link> 302 Found GET example.com/products/item/127 302 Found GET example.com/products/item/127 301 Moved Permanently GET example.com/product/127/my-jucy-product/ 302 Found So the Google link has a 302, good. But when the old link comes in our framework is returning a 302! It's only afterwards when it finally hits the right part of the framework does it 301, so here's my question: Is the reason our old links have not changed and our Google Ranking has significantly nose dived because Google is seeing a 302 before the 301? At the time I was reluctant to mess with our .htaccess because it had become pretty complicated and I was under some pretty intense time constraints, now I'm wondering whether this was an incorrect disicion and perhaps I should revisit it. Many thanks! Edit Bugger, just signed up to the Webmaster Tools and I'm getting redirect errors all over the place, hundreds of them! I think this is my problem.

Due to some spelling mistakes, exact matching is not possible, so I am trying to use agrep() to fuzzy match names.   I try to display thanks to vtk (python wrapper) several glyphs in a scene with each their own colour and rotation. Unfortunately, just the rotation (using vtkTensorGlyph) is taken in consideration by vtk. Reversely, just color is taken in consideration when I use a vtkGlyph3D.   Hi, I'm working with App Engine(Java/JDO) and are trying to do some querying with lists. So I have the following class: @PersistenceCapable(identityType = IdentityType.APPLICATION, detachable="true") public class MyEntity { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) Key key; @Persistent List<String> tags = new ArrayList<String>(); @Persistent String otherVar; } The following JDO-QL works for me: ( tags.contains('a') || tags.contains('b') || tags.contains('c') || tags.contains('d') ) && otherVar > 'a' && otherVar < 'z' This seem to return all results where tags has one or more strings with one or more of the given values and together with the inequality search on otherVar But the following do not work: (tags.contains('a') || tags.contains('_a')) && (tags.contains('b') || tags.contains('_b')) && otherVar > 'a' && otherVar < 'z' In this case I want all hits where there is at least one a (either a or _a) and one b (either b or _b) together with the inequality search as before. But the problem is that I also get back the results where there is a but no b, which is not what I want. Maybe I have missed something obvious, or done a coding error, or possibly there is a restriction on how you can write these queries in appengine, so any tips or help would be very welcome. There are different messages for different purposes and we are trying to make the coding easy and understandable for the future. By the way we have different transport classes like e-mail, sms, twitter vs... Now we are doing this but I dont know if there is a better solution. We have a class called H2B_Message_Container_Mail_About_Blablabla it has 4 methods; interface H2B_Message_Mail_Interface { public function setName($name); public function setValue($key, $value); public function getMailBody(); public function getMailSubject(); } and in the mail body there are various variables as expected. before we send the mail, we get the variable values from the database with JSON format and decode it. From what I understand it is the time between requests that is important. Manufacturers and transporters are related with has_many :through many-to-many association with products as follows: class Manufacturer < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :products has_many :transporters, :through => :products end class Product < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :manufacturer belongs_to :transporter end class Transporter < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :products has_many :manufacturers, :through => :products end All four user types will be able to login, but they will have different permissions and views, etc. I don't think I can put them in the same table (Users), however, because they will have different requirements, ie: vendors and manufacturers must have a billing address and contact info (through validations), but admins and employees should not have these fields. If possible, I would like to have a single login screen as opposed to 4 different screens. I'm not asking for the exact code to build this, but I'm having trouble determining the best way to make it happen. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

  Please bear with me: this isn't a language debate or a flame. It's a real request for opinions. Occasionally, I have to help educate a traditional text coder in how to think in LabVIEW (LV). Often during this process, I get to hear about how LV sucks. Rarely is this insight accompanied by rational observations other than "Language X is just so much better!". While this statement is satisfying to them, it doesn't help me understand what is frustrating them. So, for those of you with LabVIEW and text language experience, what specific things about LV drive you nuts? ------ Summaries ------- Thanks for all the answers! Some of the issues are answered in the comments below, some exist on other sites, and some are just genuine problems with LV. In the spirit of the original question, I'm not going to try to answer all of these here: check LAVA or NI's website, and you'll be pleasantly surprised at how many of these things can be overcome. • How does one target all divs of any webpage but differentiate them in javascript?

  So I am trying to create an extension in Chrome (a prototype for a project that I am doing) that targets all of the <div> tags of any web page, hides them or rather doesn't display them until the user clicks the mouse (further explained below). So typing a url into the browser yields a white page. The person clicks, and the first <div> appears (probably the mast head or menu). The user clicks again and the second <div> appears. I have gotten to the point where I can hide or show all <div>'s (the obvious easy part) but I am not sure how to go about targeting each since every website has different id's for them while still using the <div> tag. This is what I need the most help with. This is part of a grander operation called the Web Crank. It's just a physical crank that controls the speed by which a web page loads. Each time you make one full rotation of the crank, one section (the first <div>) of the web page loads. The faster you go, the quicker the page loads. I hope this is clear enough. I am a newbie when it comes to this, but I have done some minor coding in the past and it's not such a big deal. Thanks for your help!

• Logical file not working for SUBFILE/SETLL?

• Modelling Business Logic with NON-Techies

  The setup: Winform/ASP.NET MVC projects. Learning NHibernate SQL-Server driven apps I work with clients that have no idea how to model an application. That's what I'm for. However, we have lots of conflicts with validation, mis-understandings, etc. For example, the client will ask for an order entry screen. The screen should require a "product". That's fine and dandy. However, the client didn't know to tell me that the user can't order a product of "Class A" unless it's Tuesday. Or, they need a time entry screen. 2 days before it's rolled into production, they casually forgot to mention that certain activities are only valid for certain situations. These situations being a week of coding. That's of course, some crude examples (not by much!). But the problem is getting these non-technical clients to layout their business logic. They somehow didn't realize that the "Class A" problem would come up two weeks later, etc. I'm all for agile programming but is there an easy way to somehow make business logic like this extremely easy to implement and change on almost a daily basis? I of course am splitting the project into hopefully intelligent pieces, using NHibernate, etc. But making this BI logic so dynamic is really making it hard to project timelines, etc. Any suggestions? I know there will never be a perfect client (or a perfect provider) but how do you guys deal with the constant mis-understandings? Thanks.

• Stored procedure strange error when called through php

  I have been coding a registration page(login system) in php and mysql for a website. I'm using two stored procedures for the same. First stored procedure checks wether the email address already exists in database.Second one inserts the user supplied data into mysql database. User has EXECUTE permission on both the procedures.When is execute them individually from php script they work fine. But when i use them together in script second Stored procedure(insert) not working. Stored procedure 1. • jQuery scrollTo plugin to scroll screen to div wouldn't work, why?

  Hi all: I am working on a web application, whose mock-up page can now be found at: our server If you click on the blue title "step1" and then choose the option of "delivery to address", a form will show up using jQuery ajax load. No problem for this. Click on the "venue" radio button will take you to another form, no problem for this as well. If you scroll down a bit, you can see a textarea, top of that you can see a link called "what's this?". Click on it and the textarea shall be filled with sample words. The problem is, after clicking on the link, the webpage automatically scrolls to the top section. What I want is to keep the textarea to the center of screen after link is clicked. I am trying to use a jQuery plugin called "scrollTo", which can be found here From its demo page I can tell is what I want.
