• What are the essential COM components required for burning DVD in Windows XP using .NET?

  I'm trying to burn DVD/CD through frontend C# code... i have used IMAPI2 for buring CD/DVD in windows XP..but it is giving me unhandled exception... as:- System.InvalidCastException: Unable to cast COM object of type 'IMAPI2.Interop.MsftFileSystemImageClass' to interface type 'IMAPI2.Interop.MsftFileSystemImage'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{7CFF842C-7E97-4807-8304-910DD8F7C051}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)) can anyone please help me out to solve this problem. I'm not able to solve this error. this project is working fine in Windows7 but unable to work with XP.

• Recordset manipulation in SSIS

  In my SSIS job, I have a need to accumulate a set of rows and commit them all transitionally when processing has completed successfully. If this was pure SQL, I would use a temp table inside a transaction. In SSIS there are a number of issues complicating this. It's difficult to have multiple components share the same transaction and having temp tables that do not exist at design time is a pain. If I use Recordsets inside SSIS for this purpose, there are other issues. My understanding is that an 'Execute SQL' component will re-initialize the Recordset when it runs, so I can't use that to append an additional row. Is there a way to create an OLE DB connection that references an in-memory Recordset? Is there a better way to achieve this result?

• Java: Sockets or RMI?

  Hi, I need to separate our application into a light-weight gui application and a business logic application. This won't be a client/server setup as such, as the 'server' component will only have one client. The other limitation in the application is that it has only one entry/exit point. Therefore if we were to use RMI, it would only ever be on one function. All form data is already wrapped up into a string and passed through one transport area. Should I just use Java Sockets to enhance this application, or go with RMI? Or some other Java technology?   Imagine that I have a several Viewer component that are used for displaying text and they have few modes that user can switch (different font presets for viewing text/binary/hex). What would be the best approach for managing shared objects - for example fonts, find dialog, etc? • Is there a service for monitoring secured WCF endpoints in the same way that HTTP monitoring service

  Hi all, A service I have in WCF occasionally goes down due a problem with a COM component. While I am troubleshooting I would like to setup another host to make regular calls to this service to monitor availability. It is slightly more complicated that a simple HTTP call though as the service is secured by SSL and WCF authentication (username / password). I'd also like to be able to parse successful calls to see if they return warning / fail states from my code. Would you recommend any monitoring providers for this or is it beyond the simple monitoring they normally provide? Regards Ryan

• spring web application context is not loaded from jar file in WEB-INF/lib when running tomcat in eclipse

  I am experimenting with spring, maven, and eclipse but stumbling on a weird issue. I am running Eclipse Helios SR1 with the STS (Spring tools suite) plugin which includes the Maven plugin also. What i want to achieve is a spring mvc webapp which uses an application context loaded from a local application context xml file, but also from other application contexts in jar files dependencies included in WEB-INF/lib. What i'd ultimately like to do is have my persistence layer separated in its own jar file but containing its own spring context files with persistence specific configuration (e.g a jpa entityManagerFactory for example). So to experiment with loading resources from jar dependencies, i created a simple maven project from eclipse, which defines an applicationContext.xml file in src/main/resources Inside, i define a bean <bean id="mybean" class="org.test.MyClass" /> and create the class in the org.test package I run mvn-install from eclipse, which generates me a jar file containing my class and the applicationContext.xml file: testproj.jar |_META-INF |_org |_test |_MyClass.class |_applicationContext.xml I then create a spring mvc project from the Spring template projects provided by STS. I have configured an instance of Tomcat 7.0.8 , and also an instance of springSource tc Server within eclipse. Deploying the newly created project on both servers works without problem. I then add my previous project as a maven dependency of the mvc project. the jar file is correctly added in the Maven Dependencies of the project. In the web.xml that is generated, i now want to load the applicationContext.xml from the jar file as well as the existing one generated for the project.   I'm currently investigating a problem with a 3rd party component (DevExpress) in my application. My issue is quite similar to this one DevExpress KB article. I get the same exception with more less the same stacktrace. So I used .NET Reflector to find out, what may be null in this scenario, and the only object which is a candiate to be null is Graphics. This is created with Graphics.FromHwnd(IntPtr.Zero). Because I don't have a broad knowledge about GDI, I would like to know if somebody can tell me possible scenarios when this may return null... I tried to reproduce it in a scenario where windows is out of GDI handle's, but then I'm getting a "out of handles" - exception at least once, which is not the case in the issue I'm investigating tia, Martin

• Enable intellisense for imported tlb in VC++ 6

  We have a library for a complex COM object that we are importing using the following: #import "library.tlb" this works fine, VC++ compiles a tli file and somehow that gets magically included in the build process, so code written against the tlb works. However, intellisense doesn't pick up the library entries. This is a crazy complex COM component, and having intellisense would help immensely. Can anyone provide some pointers on how to get intellisense to work properly with this? I have tried deleting the .ncb file, and that had no effect.

• Media Foundation: another way to call IMFActivate::ShutdownObject?

  Hi, Here is a question about IMFActivate::ActivateObject and IMFActivate::ShutdownObject in Media Foundation. According to MSDN, the component that calls ActivateObject is responsible for calling ShutdownObject. But there are two examples not following this rule: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd388503%28VS.85%29.aspx and http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd317912%28VS.85%29.aspx In these two examples, they call ActivateObject and then release IMFActivate interface without calling ShutdownObject method. This is going to lead to memory leaking, right? Or there is another way to release the resource occupied by the object? (Can I use IMFMediaSource::Shutdown to release the object instead of using IMFActivate::ShutdownObject) Thanks in advance.

• Jquery - intercept links created by ajax request

  Hi, I have some jquery code that intercepts links clicked on a page : $(document).ready(function() { $("a").click(function() { //do something here }); }); My problem is there are certain parts of the page that have not finished loading on document ready. They are populated via ajax calls. The links in these sections are not intercepted by my jQuery function above. I need the function to be run on document ready initially but then I need the new links to also have the same logic applied to them. Any help would be very much appreciated. This is an area that I am very unfamiliar with. I have written the jQuery stuff but the ajax code is an external component that I have no control over. Thanks in advance

• Display Img and Div inline - it's not rendered inline

  In order to follow correct web standards, I've tried to layout image and div inline. In orde to achieve that - I've used display:inline property. But then I experienced the following issue: image renders from the center line, and div doesn't respect height parameter set to it. I've tried using line-height parameter, but that didn't give any useful results. I've also tried various combinations with setting margin/padding to some values or to auto, or replacing div with span, or wrapping img and div with additional divs. I've managed to achieve desired result by using position:absolute, but that doesn't help in cases where I want to use centered/relative positioning of the whole component... Any clues or ideas or troubleshooting hints? • Problem with autocommit in ANT SQL task

  I have an SQL script and want to apply it witn ANT task. This script clears out schema, creates new tables and views. The ANT defined task as follows: <sql driver="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver" url="jdbc:mysql://host:3306/smth" userid="smth" password="smth" expandProperties="false" autocommit="true" src="all.sql" > </sql> When this task launches, it shows in log that tables are cleared and created. But when it tries to create first view, it fails with: Failed to execute: CREATE VIEW component... AS SELECT component_raw.id AS MySQLSyntaxErrorException: Table 'component_raw' doesn't exist I have no idea why it fails here. Running this all.sql from MySQL query browser gives no errors. When I launched ANT with -v option, I didn't see any "COMMIT" messages.. Please, help to resolve the problem.

  Hi, I am new to JSF. I want to use inputListOfValues component from Trinidad in my application which also uses Tomahawk. I have added the required jars for Trinidad and before getting inputListOfValues I tried one simple inputText to be printed on browser using Trinidad. I was not getting any configuration errors but it was not printing the corresponding text on browser. So I wonder if I can use tomahawk and trinidad together ? The new solution will be in C# and will use SQL CLR user functions. The assembly that I am trying to deploy to SQL Server contains a reference to System.DirectoryServices. The project does compile without any errors but I am unable to deploy the assembly to the SQL Server because of the following error: Error: Assembly 'system.directoryservices, version=2.0.0.0, culture=neutral, publickeytoken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a.' was not found in the SQL catalog. What are the correct steps for registering System.DirectoryServices on SQL Server?

• Seam cache provider with ehcache null

  Hi every one, I'm trying to configure seam/ehcache following the tutorial from jboss page: http://docs.jboss.org/seam/2.1.2/reference/en-US/html/cache.html I put the ehcache.1.2.3.jar in project.ear/lib and injected CacheProvider as especified, but the CacheProvider always return null. The documentation doesn't show any aditional configuration for ehcache, just for jboss cache.   What is the best way to survey and detect bad users behavior or attacks like deny of services or exploits on my web app ? I know server's statistics (like Awstats) are very useful for that kind of purpose, specially to see 3XX, 4XX and 5XX errors (here's an Awstats example page) which are often bots or bad intentioned users that try well-known bad or malformed URLs. Is there others (and betters) ways to analyze and detect that kind of attack tentative ? Note : I'm speaking about URL based attacks, not attacks on server's component (like database or TCP/IP).

• .Net installation issue with SqlServerPipelineHost and SqlServer.DtsMsg

  I added a web service consumer to a vb 2005 Windows app and tried to install it on another computer, which had an earlier version already installed (ClickOnce deployment). An error came up saying I needed to install Microsoft.SqlServer.PipelineHist in the GAC. I added PipelineHost to the list of references and marked it Copy Local = true, rebuilt the solution, published it and tried to install it on that other computer. This time it said I needed to install Microsoft.SqlServer.DtsMsg, however, that component does not show up on my list of .Net components. Where do I go from here? Thank you.

• Integrating a ClickOnce app with Outlook

  I have a ClickOnce app that used to be run by users with Power User privileges. So to integrate to outlook (e.g. syncing of emails, appointments and addresses) I used a 3rd party component from Add-In Express, which includes an ActiveX DLL. So when the user would download my app, I'd register the ActiveX DLL (if it wasn't already registered) and then would just interop with it in the application. Well, now the users had their privileges changed to standard limited User. Which means that they can't register DLLs (since it writes to the registry keys that are off limit). And the integration with Outlook fails, of course. What are some of options to integrate with Outlook for my situation?
