  • How to block non-browser clients from submitting a request?

    I want to block non-browser clients from accessing certain pages / successfully making a request. The website content is served to authenticated users. What happens is that our user gives his credentials to our website to 3rd party - it can be another website or a mobile application - that performs requests on his behalf. Say there is a form that the user fills out and sends a message. Can I protect this form so that the server processing the submission can tell whether the user has submitted it directly from the browser or not? I don't want to use CAPTCHA for usability reasons. Can I do it with some javascript?

    Hi, I was playing around with variadic templates (gcc 4.5) and hit this problem : template <typename... Args> boost::tuple<Args...> my_make_tuple(Args... args) { return boost::tuple<Args...>(args...); } int main (void) { boost::tuple<int, char> t = my_make_tuple(8, 'c'); } GCC error message : sorry, unimplemented: cannot expand 'Arg ...' into a fixed-length argument list In function 'int my_make_tuple(Arg ...)' If I replace every occurrence of boost::tuple by std::tuple, it compiles fine. Is there a problem in boost tuple implementation ? Or is this a gcc bug ? I must stick with Boost.Tuple for now. Do you know any workaround ? Thanks.

  • Using javax.script or Rhino to run javascript in Java with browser context (e.g. envjs)?

    I am trying to run Protovis javascript from a Java program using javax.script: ScriptEngineManager factory = new ScriptEngineManager(); ScriptEngine engine = factory.getEngineByName("JavaScript"); engine.eval(new java.io.FileReader("protovis-d3.1.js")); In order to run this, the JavaScript engine needs to have all the context of a web browser. The best option for this seems to be envjs. Unfortunately it seems that the version of Rhino included in the JVM isn't up to date and doesn't include everything that's necessary for envjs. Has anyone had any success working with a browser context from javax.script, or am I missing something? Finish displaying the picture. Point the browser to the start page. I have already know how to do it in step 2 and 4. However, I have the following questions in writing the windows batch file: 1. How do I know that the launch of the web server is finished, taking jetty as the example? 2. How do I display a picture and stop displaying it when I want to?     We are using Visual Studio 2008 and would like to know if there is a way to create a (keyboard or toolbar) shortcut for the 'View in Browser'-command, but with a specific page from a specific (loaded) project. We always start testing/debugging our app from "Somepage.aspx" from "Project-x". I would like to make a shortcut that does 'View in Browser' with this specific page/file, from this specific project. So even if I am currently working on another file in another project (from the same solution) it should still work... Anybody know if this is possible, and if so, how this can be achieved? Thanks!     I love VI and I'm looking for a plugin of some sort that would allow me to input text in my browser (preferably Firefox or Chrome) using VI commands. It would save me an immense amount of time and at the same time when writing long emails. Can anyone think of any plugins that would allow me to do this? I was hopeful with Vimperator (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4891) but after installing it, I realized that it didn't do the one VI think I wanted to do: create or edit a text box with VI commands. It just allowed me to do Browser commands and scrolling in VI-style.

    Hi guys, I'm storing configuration details in a database which I need to use in javascript. I'm accessing all this using php and instead of outputting all the details into inline javascript code on the main page I've instead created a php file that outputs content type javascript and refernce it in my main page as an external javascript file. I want to set it up so that it can't be viewed in a browser window i.e : <script type="text/javascript" src="phpFileThatDoesJS.php" ></script> should work but typing www.mysite.com/phpFileThatDoesJS.php in the browser shouldn't EDIT ========== The thing is that I have to edit a script that for some oddball reason stores the username and password of a user in a javascript Object and outputs it within script tags. I have to set it up so that this is not viewable by a simple view source action. Thats why I thought of referencing it as an external javascript. Isnt there any htaccess tricks that I could use?

    Hi, I am building a web app that lets the user directly download files on a cdn by clicking a link. The link should point to the cdn url directly in order to minimize the load on our servers. We would like the to have the browser pop up the save as dialog box when the user clicks the link to download the file and not have the browser display the content of the file at all. So the page should not reload. However, we don't have access to setting the HTTP headers sent back from cdn. Is it possible to still pop up the save as dialog box for download using client-side code?

    hi all I have a regex defined in python/ruby/php that is like this "(forumdisplay.php\?.*page=%CURRENTPAGE%)" when I do it for java, I have to double escape that question mark to //? like so: "(forumdisplay.php\\?.*page=%CURRENTPAGE%)"; is there a function I can use to do that automatically? or would I need to change all my regexes over to work with the java regex engine? thanks

  • Global search box extension - how to make browser to start when suggestion picked.

    Hi, I'm implementing global search box extension (sth like SearchableDictionary sample in android sdk). Everything works fine - suggestions are displayed properly. Problem is that I want browser to start when user picks a suggestion. (each suggestion is a link) Columns of my cursor contain SearchManager.SUGGEST_COLUMN_INTENT_DATA, and I use that to pass http link. My searchable xml contains default intent action set to: android:searchSuggestIntentAction="android.intent.action.VIEW". But when user hits the suggestion, my application is started instead of browser. What am I missing? Regards!

    I'm new to CSS and this issue in Visual Studio is driving me mad! I have a background image defined within a simple style sheet... body { background-image: url(Images\Greenhouse.jpg); background-position: center; } My style sheet is referenced within the HTML code... <head runat="server"> <title></title> <link rel="Stylesheet" type="text/css" href="Stylesheet.css"/> </head> The background image shows in design view but in the browser, nothing! I've tried changing position etc and refreshed the browser, cleared the cache etc. This happens with all my images. Images are within the project folder (\Images) and added to the solution explorer in VS. Tried "", changing image file names etc, nothing is working!

  • Why is C++ backward compatible with C ? Why isn't there some "pure" C++ language ?

    C and C++ are different languages, blababla we know that. But if those language are different, why is it still possible to use function like malloc or free ? I'm sure there are all sort of dusty things C++ has because of C, but since C++ is another language, why not remove those things to make it a little less bloat and more clean and clear ? Is it because it allows programmers to work without the OO model or because some compilers doesn't support high-level abstract features of C++ ?

  • Are macro definitions compatible between MIPS and Intel C compiler?

    I seem to be having a problem with a macro that I have defined in a C program. I compile this software and run it sucessfully with the MIPS compiler. It builds OK but throws the error "Segmentation fault" at runtime when using icc. I compiled both of these on 64 bit architectures (MIPS on SGI, with -64 flag and icc on an intel platform). Is there some magic switch I need to use to make this work correctly on both system? I turned on warnings for the intel compiler, and EVERY one of the places in my program where a macro is invoked throws a warning. Usually something along the lines of mismatched types on the macro's parameters (int to char *) or some such thing.

    Hello, So i am writing a little app that compares a user's position against a database on web-based server written using Django and performs some functions with it. Accessing the browser's geolocation data (in supported browsers ) is fairly trivial using JavaScript. But what is the best way to allow the Django server to access the longitude and latitude variables? Is it best to wrap them up as a JSON object and send to the server via POST? Or is there some easier (Geo)Django-based way to access the Navigator.geolocation browser object. Please forgive a newbie a question like this, but my Google-Fuing only seems to find ways to insert variables into JavaScript via template tag, whereas I need it to work the other way! Any advice or code snippets greatly appreciated. Feel free to talk to me like I am an idiot.
