• How do I POST/GET from rails to API with either ActiveResource or rest-client (preferred)?

  Hi, this is a pretty basic question but I'm not entirely clear how to do this. I am trying to use a third-party service that has RESTful service. The service is called Postful. But I'm not clear what exactly to do? I've looked at ActiveResource (http://api.rubyonrails.org/classes/ActiveResource/Base.html) and rest-client, but I'm still not clear exactly what steps, code, and files to create. http://www.postful.com/service/mail is one of the services (details found http://www.postful.com/developer/guide#rest ), but to upload an image I have to post the following (but I'm not sure how I actually do this?). I found that, the doc b is re-calling itself from the harddisk, I believe this is because of the document('') function above, so I wanna replace/remove it. Thanks.

  In my XML schema definition, I'm trying to restrict the value of an attribute to be an integer between 0 and 100. With reference to the sample schema below, I want attribute 'attr' on element 'root' to have this restriction. To achieve this I define a simpleType 'Percentage' and set this as the 'type' of 'attr'.   I've opened a bug but i was wondering if anyone encountered this issue and knows a workaround. If you define a text view with a hint inside it, give it right gravity (android:gravity="right") then if you define android:singleLine=true or android:maxLines="1" or android:scrollHorizonatally="true" you don't see the hint. removing the right gravity returns the hint to the left side, removing all the tree params i mentioned above puts the hint on the right side. i want my hint on the right, but i need a single horizontal line... here's the sample layout that doesn't show the hint: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:padding="5dp"> <EditText android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_gravity="center_vertical|right" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_margin="6dp" android:textSize="16sp" android:paddingRight="5dp" android:id="@+id/c" android:gravity="right" android:hint="hello!!!" android:scrollHorizontally="true" android:maxLines="1" android:singleLine="true"/> </LinearLayout> i checked on 1.6 and 2.1 emulators and it reproduces 100%, i'm prettysure it's a bug, i don't see the connection between single line and the hint.... what's more the hint got it's own layout in the TextView (mLayout and mHintLayout both exists, in onDraw if the text length is 0 mHintLayout if mHint is not null is used).

  Hey folks, I am stuck with something quite simple but really annoying: I have an xml file with one node, where the content includes line breaks and whitspaces. Sadly I can't change the xml. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <ProductFeed> ACME Ltd. Fooproduct Foo Root :: Bar Category I get to the node and can read from it without trouble: url = "http://feeds.somefeed/feed.xml.gz" @source = open((url), :http_basic_authentication=>["USER", "PW"]) @gz = Zlib::GzipReader.new(@source) @result = @gz.read @doc = Nokogiri::XML(@result) @doc.xpath("/ProductFeed/Vendors/Vendor").each do |manuf| vendor = manuf.css("Name").first.text manuf.xpath("//child::Product").each do |product| product_name = product.css("Name").text foocat = product.css("Category").text puts "#{vendor} ---- #{product_name} ---- #{foocat} " end end This results in: ACME Ltd. ---- Fooproduct ---- Foo Root :: Bar Category Obviously there are line breaks and tab stops or spaces in the string returned by product.css("Category").text. Does anyone know how to strip the result from linebreaks and taps or spaces right here?   Hi, My current project involves lexing and parsing script code, and as such I'm using fslex and fsyacc. Fslex LexBuffers can come in either LexBuffer<char> and LexBuffer<byte> varieties, and I'd like to have the option to use both. In order to user both, I need a lexeme function of type ^buf - string. Thus far, my attempts at specialization have looked like: let inline lexeme (lexbuf: ^buf) : ^buf -> string where ^buf : (member Lexeme: char array) = new System.String(lexbuf.Lexeme) let inline lexeme (lexbuf: ^buf) : ^buf -> string where ^buf : (member Lexeme: byte array) = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetString(lexbuf.Lexeme) I'm getting a type error stating that the function body should be of type ^buf -> string, but the inferred type is just string. Clearly, I'm doing something (majorly?) wrong. Is what I'm attempting even possible in F#? If so, can someone point me to the proper path? Thanks!

  I'm attempting to remove Component elements from the XML below that have File children with the extension "config." Does the mistake is around pdf stream and endstream charset encoding? Does pdf content between stream and endStream need to be manipulate in some others way?

• Why does my MPMoviePlayerController disappear when I press play?

  I have a MPMoviePlayerController in a view, something like myMovie = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:URLfilme]; if (myMovie) { [myMovie setRepeatMode:MPMovieRepeatModeNone]; [myMovie setShouldAutoplay: NO]; [myMovie setScalingMode:MPMovieScalingModeAspectFit]; myMovie.view.frame = vFilme.bounds; [vFilme addSubview:[myMovie view]]; } The movie appears fine, I can scrub it, but when I press play, boooom, it vanishes. I have tried to retain myMovie but nothing changed. I have tried to play a video fullscreen and even using MPMoviePlayerViewController and is still disappears once I tap on play. Even the video player sample by Apple is not working. Is this a bug or what? EDIT Things are getting more interesting. If instead of playing the video manually by tapping on the play button I insert two timers, one to play the video and another one to pause it after 3 seconds, what I see is this: when the play is fired the video disappears and when the pause is fired the video reappears but when it does it has no controls. It is totally frozen, but the app continues to run normally. It is not anything related to video encoding, because I have tried with different videos, including one shot on the iPhone 4 and another shot on 3GS.

I simply try to render a js.erb template to an Ajax request for the following action (in publications_controller.rb): def get_pubmed_data entry = Bio::PubMed.query(params[:pmid])# searches PubMed and get entry @publication = Bio::MEDLINE.new(entry) # creates Bio::MEDLINE object from entry text flash[:warning] = "No publication found."if @publication.title.blank? and @publication.authors.blank? and @publication.journal.blank? respond_to do |format| format.js end end Currently, my get_pubmed_data.js.erb template is simply alert('<%= @publication.title %>') The server is responding with the following alert('Evidence for a herpes simplex virus-specific factor controlling the transcription of deoxypyrimidine kinase.') which is perfectly fine except that nothing happen in the browser, probably because the content-type of the response is 'text/html' instead of 'text/javascript' as shown by the response header partially reproduced here: Status 200 Keep-Alive timeout=5, max=100 Connection Keep-Alive Transfer-Encoding chunked Content-Type text/html; charset=utf-8 Is this a bug or am I missing something?
