I am using following code code. i am try to load the xml data from server using NSAutoreleasepool to do the xml parsing in the background thread. (void)mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView regionDidChangeAnimated:(BOOL)animated{ NSLog(@"inside region did changed "); urlString =[NSString stringWithFormat: @"http://asdfasdasdf.com/asdfasdf/mapxml.php]; [stories1 release]; [mapview removeAnnotations:eventPoints1]; eventPoints1 = [[NSMutableArray array] retain]; [self performSelectorInBackground:@selector(callParsing) withObject:nil]; } -(void)callParsing{ NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; [self parseXMLFileAtURL:urlString]; [self performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(droppingPin) withObject:nil waitUntilDone:YES]; [pool drain]; } The above code is working fine, but once i changed the mapview, the appllication get crashed. • MFMailComposeViewController broke CSS styles in html template

    - by Victor
I use MFMailComposeViewController to send a message in html format. If my html template contains the css styles: <div class="margin:10 10 10 0"> <a href="domain.name">Go To</a></div> In this case it works good. But if I send: <a href="domain.name">Go&nbsp;To</a> then I see the letter that comes with broken styles as there (3D is not my misprint) <div style=3D"margin:10 10 10 10;"><a href=3D"www.google.com">Go=C2=A0To</a></div> Well as the letter goes broken when I insert in the template symbols from national alphabets. Somebody can tell what the problem and check with yourself?

  • Objective C: Create arrays from first array based on value

    - by Nic Hubbard
I have an array of strings that are comma separated such as: Steve Jobs,12,CA Fake Name,21,CA Test Name,22,CA Bill Gates,44,WA Bill Nye,21,OR I have those values in an NSScanner object so that I can loop through the values and get each comma seperated value using objectAtIndex. So, what I would like to do, is group the array items into new arrays, based on a value, in this case, State. So, from those, I need to loop through, checking which state they are in, and push those into a new array, one array per state. CA Array: Steve Jobs,12,CA Fake Name,21,CA Test Name,22,CA WA Array: Bill Gates,44,WA OR Array: Bill Nye,21,OR So in the end, I would have 3 new arrays, one for each state. Also, if there were additional states used in the first array, those should have new arrays created also. Any help would be appreciated!

  • NSDateFormatter incorrect date on simulator, correct date on device

    - by Rudiger
Hi, Im building a calendar and to find out the first day of the month I do [formatter setDateFormat:@"e"]; int startDay = [[formatter stringFromDate:newDate] intValue]; On the device this works correctly and the 1st of the month is on the correct day. But on the simulator it is the day after. Although it doesn't overly matter about the simulator it is kind of driving me crazy thinking I've done something wrong. I tried to set the locale of the formatter but no difference, nor i think should it. Can anyone shed some light on this? On a side note is there a better way to build a calendar than this?

  • OpenGL ES view: how to orient it to landscape?

    - by Steph Thirion
Looking for clues about orienting an OpenGL ES app in landscape, most information I found dates back from 2008, most of it refering to the early versions of the SDK. Apparently, back in the days, in the case of GL it was recommended to not rotate the view, but instead to apply the rotation as a GL transformation. Is it still the case with the current SDKs? It would be so much simpler to simply rotate the window: all the touch events would be in sync with the rotation. In other words: how to set up an OpenGL view in landscape mode?

  • iPhone UIImage upload to web service

    - by user347635
Hi all, I worked on this for several hours today and I'm pretty close to a solution but clearly need some help from someone who's pulled this off. I'm trying to post an image to a web service from the iPhone. I'll post the code first then explain everything I've tried: NSData *imageData = UIImageJPEGRepresentation(barCodePic, .9); NSString *soapMsg = [NSString stringWithFormat: @"<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"utf-8\"?><soap:Envelope xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:xsd=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema\" xmlns:soap=\"http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/\"><soap:Body><WriteImage xmlns=\"http://myserver/imagewebservice/\"><ImgIn>%@</ImgIn></WriteImage></soap:Body></soap:Envelope>", [NSData dataWithData:imageData] ]; NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:@"http://myserver/imagewebservice/service1.asmx"]; NSMutableURLRequest *req = [NSMutableURLRequest requestWithURL:url]; NSString *msgLength = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", [soapMsg length]]; [req addValue:@"text/xml; charset=utf-8" forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Type"]; [req addValue:@"http://myserver/imagewebservice/WriteImage" forHTTPHeaderField:@"SOAPAction"]; [req addValue:msgLength forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Length"]; [req setHTTPMethod:@"POST"]; [req setHTTPBody: [soapMsg dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; conn = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:req delegate:self]; if (conn) { webData = [[NSMutableData data] retain]; } First thing, this code works fine for anything but an image. The web service is running on my local network and I can change the source code at will and if I change the "ImgIn" parameter to a string and pass a string in, everything works fine, I get a return value no problem. So there are no connectivity issues at all, I'm able to call and get data from this web service on this server no problems. But I need to upload an image to this web service via the ImgIn parameter, so the above code is my best shot so far. I also have didReceiveResponse, didReceiveData, didFailWithError, etc all being handled. The above code fires off didRecieveResponse every time. However didReceiveData is never fired and it's like the web service itself never even runs. When I debug the web service itself, it runs and debugs fine when I use a string parameter, but with the image parameter, it never even debugs when I call it. It's almost like the ImgIn parameter is too long (it's huge when I output it to the screen) and the web service just chokes on it. I've read about having to encode to Base64 when using this method, but I can't find any good links on how that's done. If that's what I'm doing wrong, can you PLEASE provide code as to how to do this, not just "you need to use Base64", I'd really appreciate it as I can find almost nothing on how to implement this with an example. Other than that, I'm kind of lost, it seems like I'm doing everything else right. Please help! Thanks

  • Who is a web developer? What does he do

    - by Sinan
I am wrting an article on web developers. It seems to me there are some problems on the definition of "what is a web developer". It looks like a web developer title is a bit misunderstood. And people with this title doesnt get the recognition they deserve. While most people at IT have some well defined job defitinitions. A web developer requires multiple skills. Like knowing a programming language, web security, etc. I was wondering what do you think about this issue? What skills does a web developer need? Where does his responsibilities start and end? etc.

  • UIViewController rotate methods

    - by Corey Floyd
What object is responsible for dipatching the UIViewController rotation method calls, i.e: – shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation: – willRotateToInterfaceOrientation:duration: – willAnimateFirstHalfOfRotationToInterfaceOrientation:duration: – willAnimateSecondHalfOfRotationFromInterfaceOrientation:duration: – didRotateFromInterfaceOrientation: I imagine it is UIApplication (but maybe the AppDelegate or UIWindow). The next question, is how does the object know which UIViewController to talk to? How does it know which UIViewController has its view as the subview of the window? Is there a message you can send or a property you can set (of some object) that sets the "Active" UIViewController for the app?

  • NSFetchedResultsController titleForHeaderInSection with formatted NSDate

    - by Daniel Granger
In my Core Data app I am using a FetchedResultsController. Usually to set titles for headers in a UITableView you would implement the following method like so: - (NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section { id <NSFetchedResultsSectionInfo> sectionInfo = [[<#Fetched results controller#> sections] objectAtIndex:section]; return [sectionInfo name]; } where [sectionInfo name] returns a NSString. my sectionKeyPath is based on an NSDate and this all works fine apart from the section headers it gives me are the raw date description strings (e.g. 12/12/2009 12:32:32 +0100) which look a bit of a mess in a header! So I want to use a date formatter on this to make a nice header like "Apr 17 2010" but I can't do that with the [sectionInfo name] as this is NSString! Any Ideas? Many Thanks

  • Problems removing a " from a string

    - by Graeme
Hi, I have a string that ends with a " (quotation mark) that I want to get rid of. However, because XCode usually requires you to enter the text you wish to remove using stringByReplacingOccurrencesOfString in @"texttoremove" format, you can't use the quotation marks in the space as it thinks you are closing the text. Any ideas on how I can do it? Thanks.

  • Drawing triangle/arrow on a line with CGContext

    - by Pete
    Hi, I am using the framework of route-me for working with locations. In this code the path between two markers(points) will be drawn as a line. My Question: "What code should I add if I want to add an arrow in the middle(or top) of the line, so that it points the direction" Thanks - (void)drawInContext:(CGContextRef)theContext { renderedScale = [contents metersPerPixel]; float scale = 1.0f / [contents metersPerPixel]; float scaledLineWidth = lineWidth; if(!scaleLineWidth) { scaledLineWidth *= renderedScale; } //NSLog(@"line width = %f, content scale = %f", scaledLineWidth, renderedScale); CGContextScaleCTM(theContext, scale, scale); CGContextBeginPath(theContext); CGContextAddPath(theContext, path); CGContextSetLineWidth(theContext, scaledLineWidth); CGContextSetStrokeColorWithColor(theContext, [lineColor CGColor]); CGContextSetFillColorWithColor(theContext, [fillColor CGColor]); // according to Apple's documentation, DrawPath closes the path if it's a filled style, so a call to ClosePath isn't necessary CGContextDrawPath(theContext, drawingMode); }
