  • Rails-like console for PHP?

    Every so often, things work in my local PHP development environment, while in my test environment on my server, things do not. It's a nightmare to debug this. If I had a console like Rails provides, debugging would be much much simpler. Is there anything like the Rails console but for PHP? I should mention that I am using a home-brewn PHP application.

I gave in, based on many searches on SO and reading over some of the answers, Python is a great, clean, and structured language to learn.     Hi guys, I am parsing an XML file with PHP and inserting the rows in a MYSQL database. I am using PHP simplexml_load_files to load the XML and a foreach to loop through the array and insert the rows into my database. It works perfectly fine with small files i am testing, but it comes to reality I need to parse a large 500mb XML file and nothing happens. I was wondering what was the right Php.ini config for this case ? I have a VPS Linux Cent OS, with 256 mb of dedicated Memory and MYSQL 5.0.5. I have also set php memory_limit = 256M (maximum of my server) Any suggestions, similar experiences will be greatly appreciated Thanks

  • Disable globbing in PHP exec()

    I have a PHP script which calls another script in order to add IP addresses to a whitelist. I sometimes want to whitelist all addresses, in which case I have it call exec("otherscript *.*.*.*", output, retval); This worked fine, adding the string "*.*.*.*" to the whitelist until I happened to have another file in the directory of the php script that matched that pattern ("foo.1.tar.gz"), at which point the wildcards were expanded, and I ended up with the filename in my whitelist. Is there some way to disable globbing in php's exec? It isn't mentioned in the PHP docs as far as I can tell.

So i have question: what happens for example when you run a function in php such as date("Ymd"); or file_get_contents("file.txt");?   • PGU HTML Renderer can't render most sites

    I am trying to make a web browser using pygame. I am using PGU for html rendering. I am guessing the reason for this is that the if statement that checks the type of the input and creates the e variable didn't match anything. I added a line to print the _type variable and I got 'hidden' when i tried google and apple. Is there any way to render form items that have the type 'hidden' with PGU?

  • How to manipulate string to delete quotes?

    I am trying to manipulate a string so that any quotes (") within <a href> and <\a> get taken out... Sorry if its been asked before but I just can't get it to work! By the way, I am POSTing the data from a form and then manipulating the string. This is basically html but its in the form of a string, and I want to take out quotes on things like images and links... Another thing is, I do not want to escape the quotes because that would break the link... And the whole point is that the html can be used and work fine... But now, something is automatically creating a second set of quotes inside the normal quotes, like this: <a href="\"http://www.example.com/\""></a> Example input would be: <p><a href="http://www.example.com">example</a></p> Heres how it appears when I echo it however: <p><a href=\"http://www.example.com\">example</a></p> Heres how I want it to look: <p><a href="http://www.example.com">example</a></p> So I would actually be trying to get rid of the (/) my bad...

    Hi everybody... I've been thinking about this a long time now but i wanna hear your opinion because i always received the ebst answers here. So in advance... thank you guys. Right now i have to make this decision: Shift a prototype webservice to production quality. Choose either Ruby or PHP... (Background: A friend of mine is joining the project and prefers rails) I've already played around a bit with RoR (only basic stuff) but i am really disappointed about the documentation of Rails and Ruby. In relation to PHP i find only fragments or hard to use references. At the end i am a bit scared. I dont wanna waste my time realizing that i am not capable of doing s.th in Ruby what i could with PHP. Maybe only because i am too stupid and don't find a proper explanation ;-) Did anyone experience this shift and can tell me how easy/hard it was to switch from PHP to Ruby? E.G. would you recommend programming it in PHP and using MVC as a base pattern? Thanks for your opinion!!!
